Description

New for The queen of diamonds returns to rule softball fields everywhere again this season! The DeMarini CF5 was born hardcore and built for damsels that CAUSE distress! The CF5 features a two-piece composite design with a balanced swing weight for increased swing speeds! The new CF5 uses all new technology to produce a finished product that can do some serious destruction! By constructing the CF5 using their new TR3 F.L.O. Composite, DeMarini has successfully created their lightest swinging bat yet. TR3 F.L.O. (which stands for Fused Layer Optimized) is a cutting edge material that is the result of the random and naturally chaotic fusing of carbon fibers. This creates a more compact carbon that enables DeMarini to make the new CF5 lighter and stronger than ever before. DeMarini's Half and Half two-piece technology makes YOU stronger by silencing feedback on off-center hits and creating the largest, most responsive sweetspot by flexing before impact and recoiling with a burst of ball-launching energy! The CF5 also features a Geo End Cap that's focus is on keeping the barrel stiff and not letting energy escape through the end of the bat. This gives each and every hit an extra blast of energy. DeMarini: Born Hardcore! The CF5 is approved for play in ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA, and ISF. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: Bat is hot - just like last years model... Not completely broken in yet but I see the ball pop off this bat really well.

Cons: Hope it is a little more durable. Went through 3 CF5 30/19 bats in the last year.

Pros: The bat moves the ball, but not like that 2012 DeMarini CF5: DXCFS/P, drop 10 or 11 (-10 or -11). It could be that it needs to be broken in; I was expecting hot out of the wrapper!

Pros: This bat is very hot out of the wrapper. Bought the 31'/20oz for my 10-year-old and she smoked the first pitch she saw. It is extremely well-balanced and feels very light for a -11. Easy for girls to control and offers the pop of a heavier bat. All of her teammates are using it and are getting increased velocity and distance on their hits. I like the new design and graphics. One parent even commented, "That bat looks like it is expensive!" All in all, I'd say this is about as nice a -11 composite bat as money can buy.

Cons: None yet. She hasn't had it very long so I'll bve watching for issues and will report back if we run into any.

Pros: Bought my daughter a 31/20 and its PERFECT! Its so well balanced it feels more like a 18.5-19 oz bat. First time my daughter used it she had a HR, a Triple and 2 doubles.

Cons: Bat isnt fire hot out of the warpper but still hotter than most bats at their best. Once the bat has some work it is crazy how much pop it has.

Pros: Our 11 y/o daughter hit ball to the fence within the first five times using this bat. She already had the 2012 insane, which she absolutely loves, but we got this one bc wanted an inch longer and an overall balanced bat. Can't go wrong with this bat! Well worth the money! (still breaking bat in)

Pros: Hot out of the wrapper! We bought the 31/20, so light feeling. Added at least 20-30 feet to every line drive/flyball by dughter hit. What used to be routine grounders are now making fielders turn their heads because the ball is coming so fast.

Cons: None so far

Pros: Very good pop i would say the best yet for the DeMarini CF series, and better than the Easton models except in how they hold up. LS XENO might be a overall better bat for the money. I paid the 300 plus to find this out for you.

Cons: bat chips very easy which will lead to the bat having a shorter game life. Easton bats after several years look new compared to our brand new CF5 -11. Total let down in product so far. XENO btr product for money.

Pros: The bat is excellent. Everyone on my daughter's team that has hit with it, LOVES it. My daughter is very small (around 57 pounds) and ha gotten several good hits with it. One went to the fence resulting in a 2 run RBI and a triple for her. My daughter's batting coach stated she loved it as well. Would definitely recommend it.

Pros:

Cons: First CF5 (2012) lasted 10 months for my 12u daughter. Warranty replacement with 2013 CF5...lasted 2 months. No abuse, just used in soft toss, tee, and games. Happened to another 12u girl on the team also. Serious quality control issues. 12u girls shouldn't be breaking bats from normal use!

Pros: I bought this bat for my 9 year old (5' 3" and 90 lbs.). I bought her the 29/18. The bat is very lite and balanced, I probably should gotten her a 30/20. The balls rocket off this bat and it has greatly improved her distance she is able to hit. She is the best hitter on her team and it does make me nervous for the other teams' infield.

Cons: Infielders better be awake because they could get hurt by a ball off this bat.

Pros: Have two of em 30/19 and 31/20. My DD favorite bat by far and probably the best bat available for smaller girls that can't yet swing a -10. Just broke her first gamer after almost a year of use and countless swings. Got a cf6 at the beginning of summer and it doesn't even compare in performance and was in two pieces after only 40 swings. Great bat and well worth the money Nicole's Dad parent

Pros: My now 16 year old daughter used this bat for two seasons and although this was our first foray into the composite bat arena and the expense, it was well worth the money as the ball flies off the bat. Her confidence has gone through the roof

Cons: Not really a con, by the CF5 is now in its 3rd year.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the DeMarini CF5 Fastpitch Softball Bat: DXCFS? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

What is the difference between the 2012 model and 2013? Or is it just a new paint job? daddycee
The 2013 DeMarini CF5 uses upgraded materials for increased performance and durability. It also features a new paint scheme.
Nick K.
Is the 2013 bat approved for play in 2012 with these upgraded materials? Thanks! Meyers
Yes, the 2013 DeMarini CF5 features the USSSA 1.20 BPF and ASA stamps that make it legal for play in 2012 and 2013.
Nick K.
I am about 75-80 pounds and 4'6 so I was wondering which length bat should I get? softballlover
The suggested length for a player your size would be a 30" bat.
Tom
My daughter is 5'1" and about 95lbs. What size bat would you say for her to use? She's been using a 32" -13 but she was told to back it down to a 31" -11. Lostmass
Based on her height and weight, I would recommend a 32" model of the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFS Fastpitch -11 bat. If a coach who has seen her swing is recommending a 31" -11, that would also be an acceptable size for her.
Nick D
Are there any more of the breast cancer models available? E23
The model to promote breast cancer awareness is the 2013 DeMarini CF5 Hope: DXCFH Fastpitch.
Damon
DD is 5' and 100 lbs but just barely 10 years old. Which size CF5? Battitude
A 31" CF5 would be recommended with a weight of 20 ounces.
Tyler
My daughter's 2012 CF5 -11 got a crack in it. I sent it back and it was replaced with the 2013 model. What "real" improvements have they made for this year's model? Is the composite material truly better than last years? gimedaball
The 2013 DeMarini CF5 uses new TR3 F.L.O Composite for a more balanced swing. The new composite material provides better durability and performance.
Kara
My daughter is 4'5" and weighs 62 lbs. What length & weight would you recommend? Thanks. TB
According to our Bat Coach the suggested size for your daughter would be a 30" 18 oz. Or if she has good bat speed she could consider using a 19 oz.
Tom
Does this bat meet the new bat regulations that will go into effect next Year? Herb
If you are referring to the new USSSA rules, yes, the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFS Fastpitch bat has the new USSSA stamp that USSSA will require next year.
Tyler
My daughter is 60 and one half inches tall and weighs 96 lbs. what length and weight bat would you recommend? Also she is 12 years old. Mark
Based on her height and weight, a 32" bat is recommended with a weight between 19 and 22 ounces. Bat weight really comes down to the weight of her current bat, as you don't want to stray too far up or down from what she is currently using.
Tyler
My daughter is 14 years old and is 5'5" and weighs about 105 lbs. Is this a good bat for her, and what size is good for her? Steve
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFS is a great bat with a ton of pop. Based on her height and weight, a 32" model would be recommended.
Tyler
My daughter is 5'7" weighs 125 lbs. What is the best bat size? howard
Based on her height and weight we recommend a 33" 2013 DeMarini CF5.
Kara
It appears this bat is not on the NCAA approved bat list released in July 2012 - any information on that? The 2012 was on the list in March, but now also off. Thanks! jokabz
The only 2013 DeMarini CF5 that is not approved is the -11. According to DeMarini the walls are too thin and and designed for younger players, therefore not approved for play in NCAA. The 2013 DeMarini CF5 is approved for USSSA and ASA.
Kara
What size bat and weight should my 9 year old get? She is 52" tall and weights 63lbs Mike
The average size bat for a player of that size is a 28" bat with a weight between 15 and 18 ounces.
Tyler
When comparing the new Xeno 30" 20oz vs. the new Demarini 30" 19oz bat, are either end loaded and how well balanced are they? Which bat appears to be the hottest? adam
Both the 2013 CF5 DXCFS and 2013 Xeno are well balanced bats. Based on customer feedback, the jury is out on which is hotter, and it really comes down to how much flex you like in your bat. The Xeno will be a little stiffer than the CF5, which will offer a bit more flex.
Tyler
my daughter now uses a Demarini Vendetta 32" 20oz. Will a 32" 21oz cf5 feel heavier or lighter? Also is this a good size for a 12 year old at 85 lbs? bob
The CF5 has a balanced swing weight, but a 21 oz CF5 will still feel a little heavier than a 20 oz Vendetta. A 31" or 32" model is recommended for your average 12 year old.
Tyler
My daughter is 9yrs old, 52" tall, and weighs 80lbs. She was swinging a 29/18 last year in 8U, but I want to get her a new bat for 10U, what length and weight would you recommend? Chris
We recommend a 30" 20 oz based on her height and weight.
Kara
My 8 yr old daughter (70lbs/ 51 inches tall) is trying to decide between a CF5 and the Vendetta. What are your recommendations? lam24
Both bats are fantastic two-piece fully composite designs. The largest length to weight ratio the DeMarini CF5 is offered in is a -11, whereas the DeMarini Vendetta is offered in a -12. The CF5 will be a little higher performing, and the Vendetta will be lighter.
Tom
My daughter is 11 yrs old, 58 inches tall and weighs 123 lbs. She is a strong batter. Should I move her up to a 33" 22oz bat? Thank you. nebulus
Based on her height and weight we recommend a 32" 2013 DeMarini CF5.
Kara
My 13 yr old daughter is 5'4 and 135 lbs. Which size bat would you recommend? cohobbs
Based on her height and weight we recommend a 32" 22 oz bat.
Kara
My daughter is almost 11 years old and weighs 74 lbs. She is 4 ft 8 inches. What size batt do you recommend? Leah
Based on her height and weight, a 30" bat would be recommended.
Tyler
My daughter plays 14U. She is 5'5" and weighs 145 pounds. She is currently using an Easton Stealth, as she is considered a power hitter. She has quick hands and bat speed but does not like the end weight of the bat. Are there any bats that you would recommend for her? Dan
The 2013 DeMarini CF5 would be a great choice. It is a very high performing bat that has a ton of pop and very balanced as well. It is also a light swinging bat.
Nick
Does the 2013 DeMarini CF5 DXCFS come in a 30" 19oz? sparky
Yes. The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFS is produced in a 30" 19 oz. We have live inventory and only show the options that are currently in stock and ready to ship.
Tyler
Just to clarify, this bat is ASA legal beyond 2013, whereas the 2012 is not, right? fundaddy
They both have the stamping on the barrel. The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFS Fastpitch will have the new updated stamps, where as the 2012 model will have the older stamps.
Brandon
My daughter just turned 11 and is 4 feet 10 inches and weighs 78 pounds. She has good bat speed overall. What size bat and weight is recommended for her? Brads
Based on her size, a 31" bat is recommended with a weight between 19 and 21 oz. Weight of the bat comes down to the weight of the bat she is curently using, as you typically do not want to decrease weight, and you don't want to increase weight by more than 2 oz. or so.
Tyler
Is the DeMarini CF-5 fastpitch softball bat a double wall bat? SS
The terms "single wall" and "double wall" only apply to alloy bats. The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFS is a composite bat that is made from layers of carbon fibers and resins.
Tyler
My daughter is 9yrs old, 65lbs, 54in. tall. What size bat should I get her? Greg
Using the Bat Coach feature on our website justbats.com, I was able to see that a 30" bat length is recommended. There is a 30" 19oz. available in that 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFS Fastpitch bat.
Brandon
Does this bat have the thumb print and can it be used in both ASA and USSSA for the 2013 season. I keep hearing everyone talk about you can only use bats in 2013 that have the thumb print, not sure exactly what that means. I want to get my daughter a bat for Christmas, she is a 8U player but will be playing a lot of 10U tournaments next season. Thanks icheer424
Yes, this 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFS Fastpitch bat will have the new USSSA 1.20 BPF Stamp. Here is the link to the pictures you can click on to see the stampings on this bat in the middle of this page: http://www.justbats.com/product/2013-demarini-cf5--dxcfs-fastpitch/15519/
Brandon
My daughter is 11 yrs old. She is about 4'10" and weighs about 85 lbs. I need help deciding what size bat I should get her. I would like something that will be good for a few years. Thanks:) softball mom
Using the Bat Coach Feature on justbats.com I was able to determine that your daughter should currently be using a bat length of 31". She should continue to use a 31" until she reaches the height of 5'1" and she weights 111-120 lbs. Then the bat length will increase to a 32" model. The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFS Fastpitch bat would be a great choice. It will come in her size. 31" 20oz. It will be a Two-Piece design that is Fully Composite. This bat will be very balanced and easy to swing. It comes with a 12 month warranty from DeMarini.
Brandon
My daughter is 10 yrs old. She is about 4'8" and weighs about 70 lbs. I need help deciding what size bat I should get her. I would like something that will be good for a few years. Val
Based on her height and weight, we would recommend a 30" 19 oz. in the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFS Fastpitch bat. For more information on sizing, please visit our Bat Coach at http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Aubrey
My daughter is 14 yrs. old and plays competitive softball. She is 5'3" and weighs 110 lbs. what size bat would you recommend? Diane
Based on that information, a 32" bat is recommended with a weight between 20 and 22 oz.
Tyler
My daughter is 12 turning 13 in February. She is 5'2" and 101lbs. Last year she hit with a cheap 32" 19oz bat pretty well. Her new hitting coach suggested a 31" bat but did not recommend a weight. I see you offer a 20oz and 21 oz CF5. What size do you recommend? Keith
That depends on her swing speed and bat control with her 19 oz. bat. If she had well above average swing speed and bat control, then I would recommend a 21 oz. model. If she had just average to slightly above average swing speed and bat control, I would recommend a 20 oz. model.
Tyler
What is the best way to break in this bat? My daughter will be starting batting practice at a local batting cage. Can this hurt the bat if not broken properly? Vicky
The best way to break in a bat is 200-300 swings off of a tee with a quater of a turn each time. The only way to damage the bat in the cage is to hit the yellow dimpled balls.
Zach
My 10 year old has been playing select for 1.5 years now with a 18.5oz 31 in Halo, it's time for a new bat. Would a 31in 20oz CF5 be too heavy for her? Brooke
I think the 31in 20oz would be fine for your daughter.
Zach
Does it come in a -10 size 31/21? jim
Yes. Please see model 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFP.
Tyler
One of the parents on our team has stated that the 2013 CF5 Hope is going to be declared illegal as of this Fall. Is that true? Catchersmum28
As of today, the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFS Fastpitch is legal in USSSA, ASA, NSA, ISA, ISF, and NCAA.
Kara
I need to buy my daughter a new bat. Which bat is the best? The 2013 CF5, Xeno or Stealth? Thanks. rtm
The 2013 DeMarini CF5, Easton Stealth, and Louisville Slugger TPS Xeno are all two-piece bats that are fully composite. All three are very high performing and top of the line models for each manufacturer. Performance and durability are going to be about the same in all three models.
Nick
My league has just changed the rule where all bats must have a BPF of 1.15 or less, would this bat be able to be used? or is the BPF too high? Kayla
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFS Fastpitch is rated at 1.20 BPF, which would be faster than your league allows.
Kevin
My daughter is 5 ft 4 1/2 inches and 120 lbs, and only 12. What size should I get her in this bat? She has the 2013 Easton Synge right now? Frogger
Based on her height and weight we recommend a 33" bat. The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFS Fastpitch is currently out of stock. The 2014 DeMarini CF6: DXCFS Fastpitch is available in a 33" 22 oz.
Kara
Will the DeMarini CF5 -11 fastpitch bat be legal for the 2014 season? How is the durability record for this bat? papman
Yes, the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFS Fastpitch is going to be legal for 2014. The bat has been very durable, but it should only be used for 11u fastpitch.
Noah
Is this bat still USSSA approved for 2014? How often do you suggest replacing a bat? Bob
Yes, this bat features the newest USSSA stamp and will be legal for 2014 play. I would recommend replacing a bat when standards change, you outgrow a bat, or if the bat is not performing any longer.

What is the difference between the blue 2014 Demarini CF5 (31/20) softball bat and the white 2013 CF5? Will performance suffer if I get the 2013? Tom
The 2014 DeMarini CF6 uses a higher quality Paradox composite, so it will be higher performing than the 2013 DeMarini CF5 Fastpitch model.

What do you recommend for my 17 year old daughter who is 5' 7", 120 lbs, long arms and fast bat speed? Shoes
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFS Fastpitch would be a great option for your daughter. If she has really fast bat speed, I would recommend going to a -10 model. DeMarini's new 2014 CF6: DXCFP Fastpitch features DeMarini's new paradox composite and is very high performing. Based on her height and weight, I would recommend either a 32" or 33" bat length.

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
