My 10 year old has been playing select for 1.5 years now with a 18.5oz 31 in Halo, it's time for a new bat. Would a 31in 20oz CF5 be too heavy for her?

What is the best way to break in this bat? My daughter will be starting batting practice at a local batting cage. Can this hurt the bat if not broken properly?
The best way to break in a bat is 200-300 swings off of a tee with a quater of a turn each time. The only way to damage the bat in the cage is to hit the yellow dimpled balls.
My daughter is 12 turning 13 in February. She is 5'2" and 101lbs. Last year she hit with a cheap 32" 19oz bat pretty well. Her new hitting coach suggested a 31" bat but did not recommend a weight. I see you offer a 20oz and 21 oz CF5. What size do you recommend?
That depends on her swing speed and bat control with her 19 oz. bat. If she had well above average swing speed and bat control, then I would recommend a 21 oz. model. If she had just average to slightly above average swing speed and bat control, I would recommend a 20 oz. model.

The CF5 has a balanced swing weight, but a 21 oz CF5 will still feel a little heavier than a 20 oz Vendetta. A 31" or 32" model is recommended for your average 12 year old.

Both the 2013 CF5 DXCFS and 2013 Xeno are well balanced bats. Based on customer feedback, the jury is out on which is hotter, and it really comes down to how much flex you like in your bat. The Xeno will be a little stiffer than the CF5, which will offer a bit more flex.
