With the number of games and practices teams partake in nowadays, it's almost impossible to find a bat that will last 4 years. The DeMarini CF5 BBCOR: DXCFC Adult bat has good durability, but I don't think it would last 4 years if you use it for every game and every practice.

This is a difficult question for us to answer as much of the decision comes down to the personal preference of the player and what bat type of bat they have used previously. It's always recommend that a player stick with the same type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to have continued success at the plate.

I am debating the 2012 CF5 or the Marucci Black 1. I am a contact hitter. What length do you recommend? I am 5/10 125 lbs. I heard the Marucci Black knob comes off is that true?
The 2012 DeMarini CF5 BBCOR: DXCFC Adult bat would be a great selection for your first BBCOR bat purchase. At your height and weight I would swing a 32"-29oz. or possibly step up to a 33"-30oz. This bat will have a Doublewall Barrel and a Geo Endcap. It will have a Two-Piece design with an Alloy barrel and a Composite handle. This bat will have a greatly balanced swing weight which is good for contact hitters. The amount of vibration will be reduced with the Two-Piece design. I have not heard about any durability issues with the Marucci Black. The original Black is a seamless Two-Piece design with an industry best combination of barrel size and balance point, offering a bigger sweet spot, and faster swing speeds. Both of these bats will have 12 month warranties through each manufacturer.

If BBCOR bats were made to meet at the same standards abd not out perform others bbcor bats why do some cost alot of money like this one and other ones? Why would i pay $250 for a bat made to perform like a bat that is $90?
Just like with the old BESR rating... you have some top of the line bats that are on the higher end of the performance scale, and some bats that are on the lower end of the performance scale. The BBCOR standard just places a limit on the bat's performance. It does not mean that ALL bats will perform the exact same as on another. Also, composite bats like the CF5 cost more to make, which explains why full composite bats cost more than alloy bats.
I am a line drive/contact batter and can't decide whether to buy a 2012 cf5 or 2012 voodoo. what would you recommend? ( I've used my friends voodoo and really liked the feel. Is the cf5 really that much better?

Since the CF5 is a composite barrel bat, it is recommended not to use it in temperatures between 50-55 degrees or colder. There is a higher number of bats reported when used in these temperatures. Although, you can still use the bat in these temperatures, it is recommended to try to really limit the use of the bat.
How long would you say it takes to break in the CF5 pretty well?
We recommend taking about 150-200 hits either off of a tee or soft toss, starting out at about 40% and gradually increase the closer you get to the 200 hit mark. Also, make sure you are using the same balls you would use in a game and are rotating the bat 1/4 of an inch in between each hit to ensure an even break in all around the barrel of the bat.
BBCOR designates what?
BBCOR stands for "Batted Ball Coefficient of Restitution". This is a certification that adult -3 bats must have in order to be legal for play in high school and collegiate levels. It was implemented to level the playing field for all adult bats.

The Voodoo will not require a break in period and will be hot right out of the wrapper, while the CF5 will require a break in and will perform better over time. Since both bats are two piece designs, they will perform just about the same.
Dear Expert: I am about to purchase this bat and it must meet the "composite standard." The list has not been updated since March '11. Yes I see on the description it says it is BBCOR approved. At this price I just want to be 100% that it will not be a problem. Thanks. As long as the stamp is somewhere on the barrel of the bat, it's good to go.
As long as the 2012 DeMarini CF5 is marked BBCOR it will be allowed for play.
Im 5'7 15 and 123 but really strong and bench alot. I am looking to go to 33-30 bat. I am coming from a 32-29 and am wondering if I should go up?
Honestly, based on your height and weight, a 32 inch bat would probably be the best fit. That's going strictly off your height and weight. If you think you can handle a 33 inch bat, go for it.
Does the grip split easily?
We have not heard of this being an issue. However, in the case the grip does split, this is covered under the manufacturer's 1-year warranty.
What size should I get? I'm 5'9 and weigh 140 I usually get 32?
The suggested size for someone your size is approximately 32 inches. If you usually get a 32, I would stay with that size. If you need any other recommendations on what size to get, feel free to use the bat coach feature located at the top of our website.
Does the CF5 come in a drop 5?
Unfortunately the 2012 DeMarini CF5 does not come in a drop 5. It only comes in a -3, -8, -10, and -11. This link will give you all the -5 bats that we do currently have: http://www.baseballbats.com/products/length%20to%20weight%20ratio~-%205/
is this bat allowed in Pony League?
This bat would be legal for Pony Baseball in 2012. The rule states "If a player wants to use a -3 non-wood bat, it MUST be BBCOR approved."
does this bat chip or scrape easily
We have not received any feedback the bat chips easily.
What makes this bat better than the Voodoo? My son had the CF4 BESR last year and loved the feel. Other than the difference between BBCOR and BESR, will he notice anything else?0
The CF5 has a composite barrel and the Voodoo has an alloy barrel. The new BBCOR bats will have thicker walls the BESR bats and have less pop. The idea is to make the bat hit more like a wood bat.
Can the bat get worn out if I use it too much? (I hit about 50-100 balls a day)
They will not decrease in performance, but after time all composite barrel bats will crack.
knowing the difference in the drop weighting, what is the performance difference between a bbcor cf5 and a voodoo sc4 alloy if any. Thanks
The biggest difference is the alloy will have a more immediate pop, where the composite takes a little breaking in, the CF5 is pretty close to broken in so it won't take much.
this bat or demerini voodoo 2012
Both are great options, the CF5 is a full composite design, the voodoo is going to have a composite handle and an alloy barrel
CAN THIS BAT BE USED IN VERMONT HIGH SCHOOL COMPETION?
Yes, it is BBCOR certified which is the national requirement for high school level play.
Are all CF5's, including the -8 drop for Babe Ruth Leagues, BBCOR approved?
Only the -3 Adult CF5 is BBCOR certified. BBCOR only applies to Adult bats. If a bat has a drop greater a -3, then it will not be BBCOR certified.
Can you suggest which Demarini would be best for a contact hitter? I'm looking for singles/doubles more so than jacks.
I would recommend the CF5 as the best bat from DeMarini for contact hitters. The CF5 will be a little better balanced than the Voodoo. The CF5 is also a two-piece that will be beneficial to a contact hitter.
do composite bbcor bats lose their pop more quickly than alloy?
Composite bats get better the more the player uses them. The composite material in the bat will break down giving the player more pop than an alloy barrel bat.
Which Bat is better for Power hitter? cf5 or the new rawlings 5150?
Generally, power hitters prefer one piece bats, which would be the 5150.
this or the easton xls
Both are great options, it would come down to person preference.
Is this bat also able to be used in Juniors Little League?
Yes, this bat can be used in juniors little league
hey i am a highschool baseball player and i just recently purshased the bat, and i think when i brought it it came deformed because everytime i hit with it i feels like all of my fingers are about to break...and thats not because its cold or im just not getting it on the sweet spot but no matter where it comes of it hurts because of all the vibration...so i was wondering if i could send it back and get another bat.
Once a bat has been hit with you will have to send it to the manufacture in order to get a warranty replacement bat. They will replace the bat for you for free.
I am choosing between this CF5, the bbcor voodoo, the bbcor vexxum, and the bbcor M2m. which has the most flex and which is least end-loaded?
The flex will be similar in those bats. A composite barrel bat tends to have more of an end-loaded feel. The more balanced bat will be the Voodoo, Vexxum and M2M.
I have a 15 year old son, he is torn between the rip it prototype II and the cf5. He is a general line drive contact hitter with a little pop. Not sure if price difference is worth it. rip it is getting great reviews, but I heard it was end loaded, thoughts???
If he's a contact/gap hitter I would lean towards the CF5. The CF5 offers more flex during the players swings and is beneficial for contact hitters who are looking to add a little more pop to their hits. The Prototype will feel a little end-loaded and won't offer as much flex, making it better suited for stronger hitters.
Which adult BBCOR bat is more balanced: the 2012 Demarini CF5 DXCFC, the Easton S1 BB11S1, the Easton Omen BNC2, or the Louisville TPX Z-1000 BB12Z? Also, which of the above four bats are considered for use more by line drive hitters than power hitters?
All of these bats listed are 100% composite. These will be good choices and will give you some good power. The Z-1000 is a one piece bat which is better for power hitters while the others will be for contact hitters.
USSSA certified?
BBCOR bats are not USSSA certified. The Senior League CF5 is USSSA certified.
What is the most balanced bbcor bat out?
The CF5 has a nice balance, the Marucci Cat5 has a nice balance, the Prototype II also, the Easton Omen.
is this bat end weighted
Even though this bat has a double wall barrel, it is still balanced.
Is this bat designed to hit home runs or just to get on base?
It's designed with homeruns in mind, of course, but the batter still has to put the bat on the ball. :)
1)Is this bat or the Omen better for a contact hitter who likes a big sweetspot? 2)Is the Omen or the CF5 more top heavy? Thanks
Both the Omen and CF5 are two piece all composite bats. They both use the highest composite technology. They are both the top of the line BBCOR bats. I have heard the CF5 feels more top heavy.
I'm very confused on which bat to get, I depend on demarini for my bats but the 2012 voodoo bat also look promising. I'm a power hitter , so which one is best and why?
The basic design, 2 piece, is the same between the cf5 and the Voodoo. The biggest difference is the Voodoo has an alloy barrel opposed to the composite barrel the CF5 has. The CF5 is a slightly more balanced bat. The Voodoo is slightly end weighted.
Which is better? An adult cf5 or a adult omen?
Both are excellent bats,it really is a matter of preference. Both are 2 piece all composite bats. The CF5 is a little more end weighted. The Omen has the low MOI so it swings lighter.
I read online you should not use this bat in temps below 60 degrees. Is this true?
Yes. It is recommended you don't use composite bats in cold temperatures.
I read online that you should not use this bat in temps below 60 degrees because it may break. Is this true?
Colder temperatures affect the hardness of the core of the baseball. A harder core does increase the probability of a composite bat cracking during contact. I always recommend trying to keep game and practice balls warm to help with the issue. Using a composite bat in temps colder than 60 degrees doesn’t mean that it is definitely going to crack, it is just that the rate of composite bats cracking is higher in temperatures below 55 or 60 degrees.
is this bat really worth $400 and is there something cheaper that preforms just as good or even better?
The CF5 uses on of the best composite materials out there, making it one of the most expensive. Other composite bats that are similar in performance are the Easton Omen and Combat 52 Caliber. All composite bats are going to run similar in price. If you want to go to a less expensive bat I would suggest all alloy. The Cat 5 and Easton S3 are good choices.
Which bat would you go with - the CF5 or the Marucci Black?
The CF5 is a 2 piece all composite. The new Marucci Black doesn't come out until November, but so far the word is it is 2 piece alloy barrel with a stiff composite handle, more trampoline effect, extended barrel that is 33% larger creating a bigger sweetspot. And a new handle that reduces vibration.
How can this bat be better than other BBCOR bats out there when there is a limit on the amount of pop a bat can have?
Although BBCOR bats will perform pretty similar to one another, there will still be a noticeable difference between a top of the line bat like the CF5 and a lower end BBCOR model. A lot of it will come down to balance, feel and the personal preference of the player. The CF5 has very good durability, above average performance and feels great in my opinion.
What is the best BBCOR bat available?
The CF5 is the best of the DeMarini BBCOR bats. Each manufacturer has their "top of the line" model.
Two questions: 1) How will this bat compare to the new Easton S1 when it becomes available; and 2) we have had problems with the paint/finish of other Demarinis - have they done anything to address that?
With composite bats, as they become broken in the composite fibers expand. Sometimes when they expand causes spider cracks in the paint, it will not affect the integrity of the bat though. The CF5 is similar in that they are both 2 piece fully composite bats.
The CF5 is going to be slightly heavier than the S1. The S1 is lighter for a faster bat speed. We are not aware of the paint/finish coming off. This will not effect the integrity of the bat.
I am looking to get a new bat that i can get a few years out of. Will this be legal next year also? and will this be good for a contact hitter such as myself?
This is a two-piece composite bat and is often preferred by line drive or contact hitters. It will be legal next year.
which would be better for a power hitter the demarini voodoo 2012 or demarini cf5 2012?
The CF5 is all composite which would be better suited for power hitters than the voodoo.
what stiff handle bat would you recommend for a line drive hitter?
There are several good stiff flex bats the Nike Aero M1 is a good one, Model # is BT0634. The Lousiville Slugger Omaha the BB126 another great choice.
does this bat have a lot of flex in the handle when you hit it? and what bbcor bat would you recommned for at line drive hitter?
The CF5 does have a lot of flex since it is a composite bat. I would also look at the Voodoo. If you prefere a composite barrel than the CF5 will be an excellent choice. The Voodoo has an alloy barrel and composite handle.
I have been trying to decide whether to get the CF5 or the 2012 Voodoo, and I was going to get the Voodoo when my friends told me to get the CF5. I understand they are both good bats, but if you had to choose one between the other, which one would you choose?
The Voodoo is a two piece bat with a composite handle and an alloy barrel. The CF5 is a two piece all composite bat. The CF5 will require a break in period. Approximately 100-200 swings off of a tee or soft toss, rotating the barrel 1/4 inch every swing. Since the Voodoo has an alloy barrel there is not a break in period. It's personal preference when choosing the bat, depending on if you like alloy or all composite.
Which would be a better BBOCR bat The Demarini CF5 or The Demarini Voodoo 2012
The Voodoo has a composite handle and alloy barrel and the CF5 is all composite. All composite bats tend to have more pop, but they require a break in period and tend to be less durable than a bat with an alloy barrel.
Will this bat meet all the restrictions for 14 U up baseball for USSSA and High School?
A bat cannot be USSSA certified and BBCOR certified. The CF5 BBCOR is used in High School and College play. It can also be used in leagues that allow a -3 drop. The CF5 BBCOR will not have the USSSA stamp on the bat.
is this bat legal for CIF High School playi in California?
Yes, all BBCOR bats are going to be approved for California high school baseball.
Judging by the price, how much more performance does this bat have compared to other BBCOR bats.
I would put the CF5's performance on par with the Easton Omen and Louisville Z-1000.
Will the bbcor standard be permanent? Will the CF5 bbcor exceed this standard after the break-in process?
Yes, the bbcor standard is permanent as far as we know now. No, the CF5 is designed not to exceed this standard even after the bat is well broken in.
Is this a good bat for power hitter?
Yes, this is going to be a good bat for a power hitter. This is going to be one of the best bats on the market for BBCOR. This bat is a very durable bat that has a lot of pop.
Will the CF5 go through a breakin process similar to the older composite bats? Will they get better with time or are they as good as they are going to be out of the wrapper?
Yes, all composite bats will need to go through a break in. The break in time will be 100-150 soft toss hits. After this, the bat will be game ready.
I am a line drive hitter. Would this bat be right for me. Just wondering if this bat favors power hitters over line drive guys
This is a two-piece bat and is often preferred by line drive or contact hitters.
which BBCOR bat hits like this but for a cheaper cost?
A few good BBCOR bats that don't cost as much as the CF5 are the DeMarini Voodoo DXVDC, Nike Aero MC2 BT0633, Louisville Exogrid2 BB12EX2, and the Combat 52 Caliber 52CALAB1.
It sais the bat is BBCOR but in the picture it does not show the BBCOR stamp. If you were to buy it would the BBCOR stamp be on it?
Yes, the bbcor stamp is on the bat.
Do you think High Schools will look at the Composite barrel badly even though it is BBCOR approved?
No, it doesn't matter what it is made of. If it passed bbcor testing then it will be legal.
is it worth the cost ?
Yes, this bat will be worth the money. This bat uses some of the best composite on the market right now and was made using the newest technology. The CF5 will be one of the best BBCOR bats on the market.
Does this bat have pop like a besr bat?
This bat has excellent pop for a BBCOR bat. However, I think last year's BESR bat was a little better performing.
