I'm 5' 5", weigh 180 lbs. and a power hitter. What size bat do you suggest?

Based on your height and weight I would recommend a 34"/24 oz. DeMarini CF5 Insane (DXCFI). Its end loaded swing weight is perfect for a power hitter.

My granddaughter weighs 165 lbs and is 5"8 1/2. She's 14, and a power hitter. What size should she use?

Based on her approximate height and weight, the suggested size we would recommend in the DeMarini CF5 Insane: (DXCFI) would be a 34/24.

Hi my daughter is 5' 4" and weighs 145 lbs. and plays travel fastpitch. What size and weight would you recommend?

Based on the information you gave, I would recommend a 32" bat. Since we do not have that size in the CF5 Insane (DXCFI) I would recommend a 33" 23 oz.

My daughter is 5'9" and weighs approximately 165 lbs. She plays HS,SB and travel. Can you advise me what would be an appropriate length and weight?

Based on her height and weight we recommend a 34" 24 oz. DeMarini CF5 Insane (DXCFI).

My daughter is 12 years old, 5 feet tall and weighs 115 pounds. She uses a 31 inch 21 ounce CF5 and we are looking at moving up to either a 32 inch 22 ounce CF7 or 31 inch 21 ounce Insane. She is a power hitter. Which would you recommend?

Based on the information you have provided, it would seem that the 31 inch DeMarini CF5 Insane: (DXCFI) would be the best choice for your player. Power hitters tend to benefit from the end-loaded design of the Insane because it focuses the weight of the bat to where the ball will be hit.

My daughter 13 years old 5' 7 and 180 lbs. She is a power hitter. What bat would you recommend for her to use?

Based on your daughter's height, weight, and power hitting skills, I would highly recommend the DeMarini CF5 Insane (DXCFI). It is designed with an end loaded swing weight engineered to help maximize a power hitter's potential.

My daughter is a power hitter and is 5'6" tall and weighs 165 lbs. She is 16 years old and plays "A" travel ball. Should we stick with the 33" or go up to the 34".

Based on her height and weight we recommend a 34" DeMarini CF5 Insane (DXCFI).

My daughter is 9 yrs. old and weighs roughly 97 lbs. and is 5 ft. tall. I am looking for her first official bat. She has played since she was 3 yrs. old, but she has been playing select ball for 2 years and it's time to equip her correctly. What do you recommend?

The DeMarini CF5 Insane (DXCFI)is an end loaded bat. It is not recommended for younger players. We recommend a more balanced bat such as the 2014 DeMarini CF6 (DXCFS). Based on her height and weight we recommend a 31" 20 oz.

My daughter just started high school ball. She hits hard line drives to outfield. She is 5'2 120 lbs. She has never used a composite bat before. Any recommendations?

Based on her height and weight, we recommend a 32" bat. The DeMarini CF5 is a high performing model that features a two-piece fully composite design. It also features an end loaded swing weight with power hitting in mind, so if she is more of a line drive hitter I would recommend going with a balanced model. The DeMarini CF6 (DXCFH) may be a better option to go with.

My daughter is 13 year-old 5'5" and weighs 130 lbs. She is a power hitter. I assume the CF5 Insane would be a good bat but what size 32/22 or 31/21.

Our bat coach recommends the 32"/22 oz. size of the DeMarini CF5 Insane (DXCFI).

My daughter is 13 years old and stands 5'11 and weighs 180 lbs. She currently hits an Easton aluminum balanced bat 33/21. She has a nice even tempo swing and drives the ball well. Very strong hitter. What bat would you recommend as an upgrade to give her more jump of the bat? Thanks.

I would recommend the DeMarini CF6 Insane (DXCFI). The Insane is in the New CF6 line and will perform very similar to her old bat. I would also suggest a 34 inch bat. The Insane will have a slight end-loaded feel and should help her generate some extra power.

Jackson Expert ·Feb 26, 2014

My daughter is 5' 100 lbs and is a 14 year old lefty. She is not a very strong hitter, but a great slapper. Would the CF5 or the Insane be better? What size: 31" or 32"?

Based on her height and weight, we suggest a 31" model in the CF5. The DeMarini CF5 Insane (DXCFI) Fastpitch has an end loaded swing weight and is better for power hitters.

This 2013 DeMarini CF5 Insane: (DXCFI) Fastpitch bat features the most current USSSA and ASA fastpitch performance certification marks, and has not been placed on a banned bat list. It is approved for use in high school play that's governed by NFHS rules.

My daughter is 14 but just got back into softball after a 4 year break. She was using a vendetta 31/20 but she just made a tournament team and felt she needs a bigger bat and heavier. She is 5'2" and about 125 lbs. I believe she could be a power hitter with the right bat. We were thinking of a CF5 as they are a little cheaper than a CF6 and her younger sister has one and loves it. We were thinking about 32/22 CF5. Would that be better or the CF5 Insane?

The 2013 DeMarini CF5 Insane (DXCFI) Fastpitch has an end loaded swing weight, which is typically preferred by power hitters. If you think she can handle and end loaded swing weight, the Insane will help increase her power the most.

Jason Expert ·Jan 12, 2014

My daughter is 5'5" and weighs 160lbs solid. She is a pretty good power hitter and currently uses a balanced 31/23 -8. I am interested in getting her the end loaded Insane. Her coach suggests a lighter bat, 31/21 -10...any suggestions?

The DeMarini CF5 Insane would be a great option moving down from a -8 to a -10 drop. The Insane will be 2 ounces lighter but will feature an end loaded swing weight. The Insane is more designed for the power hitters that are strong enough to generate their own bat speed through the zone.

Is this bat approved for girls college fastpitch softball?

Yes, the 2013 DeMarini CF5 Insane: DXCFI Fastpitch is approved for collegiate play in fastpitch softball. It has the new USSSA stamp, ASA performance certification, and a -10 length to weight ratio.

My daughter is 13 5'7" 160lbs. She has the CF5 balanced bat that is 33-22. She is a power hitter with a super fast swing and would like the CF6 Insane for the end load but unsure about the added ounce. Would this 1 ounce move to a 33-23 make a big difference?

2013 DeMarini CF5 Insane: DXCFI Fastpitch will be heavier than the balanced model she currently has. You would be adding an inch, an ounce, and an end-load. The added weight, length and different weight distribution will benefit her power hitting, but that may be difficult to transition to. If she is comfortable with a 32", I would recommend going with that length for the Insane.

My daughter is a lefty (not slapper) hitter with a some decent gap power. She is 12 and 5'1" 105 lbs. She makes great contact and hits very hard. Currently has Vendetta 31" 19 oz., but thinking 31" 21 oz. makes more sense. Any advice?

The 2013 DeMarini CF5 Insane: DXCFI Fastpitch is more end loaded than the DeMarini Vendetta, so it will feel like it's even heavier than the two oz. increase. If she was getting around on the ball okay, an end loaded bat like the Insane is great for power hitters. If you think the 3 oz. might be a bit much, the 2014 DeMarini CF6 Hope: DXCFH Fastpitch is balanced so it will help her maintain her bat speed, making that 2 oz. increase easier to transition to.

My 16 year old 5'5" 130 pound average strength daughter needs to replace her Mizuno Frenzy 3.0 (32 -10) that she has had for a couple of years. She is a line drive hitter with good bat speed, but would be happy to add some power. She still likes the feel of her Frenzy but thinks it's lost its pop. Is CF5 Insane a sensible upgrade?

The 2013 DeMarini CF5 Insane: DXCFI Fastpitch is an endloaded bat, unlike the Mizuno Frenzy which is a balanced bat. The two-piece design of the CF5 will offer more flex and increase swing speed. The endload will be good for power hitters.

My daughter is 13, 5'8" and weighs 118 lbs. She is a power hitter. Would you recommend this bat and if so what size?

Based off your daughter's height and weight, we would recommend a 32 inch or possibly going up to a 33 inch bat. The 2013 DeMarini CF5 Insane: DXCFI Fastpitch would be a good option for a power hitter since it is going to be endloaded.

What is too cold to use a CF6?

Whether it's the 2013 DeMarini CF5 Insane: DXCFI Fastpitch or the new 2014 CF6 line, 60 degrees is the lowest recommended temperature for use. Anything colder could risk damaging the bat.

Hi, my Daughter is 5'7" 135 lbs. She's a lead-off hitter, slapper, but also hits righty. Would this be a recommended bat?

No, the 2013 DeMarini CF5 Insane: DXCFI Fastpitch would have a slight end loaded swing weight that the power hitter's love. I would stick to the regular CF5. It will be more balanced and easier swung by a slap hitter.

My daughter is a junior in HS, 5'8", 150 lbs, 3/4 hole power hitter. She loved her last bat (33" 23 oz. 2012 Easton Stealth). We are looking at the DeMarini CF5 Insane (2-piece design) or Easton FS2 (1-piece design). Which bat would you recommend?

The 2013 DeMarini CF5 Insane: DXCFI Fastpitch is a great option for a power hitter, as it has an end loaded swing weight to put more mass behind an already powerful swing. Typically, power hitters prefer a one-piece design, as it transfers the energy more efficiently. The Easton FS2 is a well balanced design, but Easton also produces a one-piece end loaded model, the 2013 Easton FX2: FP13X2 Fastpitch, which would be a good choice, too.

The 2013 DeMarini CF5 Insane: DXCFI is recommended for a power hitter, due to the end load. If she's more of a contact hitter, I'd recommend going with the 2014 DeMarini CF6: DXCFP, as it's more balanced. Based on her size, we recommend going with the 33" 23 oz.

My daughter is 10 years old and weighs 100 lbs. She swings a 2012 Xeno 31" 21 oz. bat and hits for decent power. Which DeMarini bat would be better for her? Insane, 2014 CF6: DXCFS, or 2014 CF6: DXCFP?

The 2013 DeMarini CF5 Insane: DXCFI Fastpitch is an end loaded bat, while both the 2014 DeMarini CF6: DXCFS Fastpitch and 2014 DeMarini CF6: DXCFP Fastpitch are balanced bats, like the 2012 Xeno. If she saw success with the -10 Xeno, I would suggest the 2014 CF6: DXCFP, which is also a balanced -10.

My daughter recently broke her 2010 CF4 33/23. She loved that bat. She has been swinging a 2011 Xeno and really doesn't care for it. We have been checking out the CF5 and the Insane online. Unfortunately, we live in a rural area where we just can't run to the store and let her swing them. She is a 3,4, and 5 hole hitter with power. Would the 23 oz. Insane swing more like a 24 oz. bat? Any insight would be appreciated.

The 2013 DeMarini CF5 INSANE: DXCFI is an endloaded bat, giving it a heavier feel compared to a balanced bat of equal weight. Holding the DXCFI next to a more balanced CF5 of the same weight, the Insane will probably feel about an ounce or so heavier.

Is this a better bat for my daughter? She has a CF5 hope 31" 21 oz. and is 5'4" 135 lbs. and is pretty much a power hitter. Do I stay with the Hope CF5 or the Insane? And what size?

Since your daughter is a power hitter, I would recommend going with the 32" 22 oz. 2013 DeMarini CF5 INSANE: DXCFI Fastpitch. It is an end loaded bat, which is preferred by many power hitters.

My daughter (16 5' 10' -165lbs) is very strong and currently uses the 34" cf4. She seems to always be choking up about an inch on the bat so when we upgrade to the cf5 should she drop to a 33-23 since its end loaded?

If she needs to choke up on a 34" bat, then a 33" model is recommended, especially if it's an endloaded bat like the CF5 Insane.

Tyler Expert ·Jan 22, 2013

Can this bat be used for indoor batting practice without damage? Dimpled balls on a pitching machine is being used. Thank you.

Can this bat be used in cold weather? If not, what substitute would be good for cold weather (below ~50*F)?

The typical lowest recommended temperature for composite barrel bats is around 50 degrees. As the weather gets colder the balls will get more dense. It is actually the dense ball that ends up damaging the bats. For a less expensive alternate bat, try this: 2013 DeMarini Cat: DXCTF Fastpitch.

I have heard that the composite bats are going to be be banned is this true? Also can you please explain the difference between 1 piece and a 2 piece? My daughter has always used the Xeno. We got the 2013 model and she dislikes it.

To our knowledge, composite bats are not going to be banned. A two-piece bat like the 2013 DeMarini CF5 INSANE: DXCFI Fastpitch will provide more flex and it is end loaded. A one-piece bat will be stiffer, better suited for a power hitter.

37238

What is end loaded mean and its purpose?

End-loaded bats are bats that are top heavy with more of the weight distributed towards the end of the barrel. These bats are best for power hitters with high swing speeds as they are able to generate more inertia with an end-loaded bat, improving performance. Hitters that lack the strength to swing an end-loaded bat will see a loss of bat control and swing speed, resulting in mis-hit balls and a higher rate of strike outs due to not being able to get the bat head around.

I am looking at the CF5 Insane and the Miken NXT Freak. My daughter is 12 and uses an older RockeTech. Would you recommend one over the other?

The DeMarini CF5 Insane is designed to be end loaded and is a two-piece fully composite design. The Miken NXT Freak has a balanced swing weight and is a one-piece fully composite design. Both bats will be extremely high performing, so I would base your decision on one-piece vs. two-piece and/or balanced vs. end loaded.

The 2013 DeMarini CF5 INSANE is an end loaded bat. The CF5 and the CF5 Hope are both balanced bats. The CF5 Hope is just a special edition bat.
