What's the difference between this bat and the OVERLORD FT?

need a bbcore -3 for seniors little league looking for a good bat for my son that is 5ft 8in 180pounds it also will need to work for hig school thanks

The DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVDR) would be an excellent choice for a player who may hit more for power because of the end loaded swing weight. End loaded bats like this OVERLORD tend to be preferred by stronger players who don't have trouble generating their own bat speed. If your son hits more for contact or prefers a balanced bat, I would recommend checking out the DeMarini Vexxum. The specs on that bat are very similar to the Voodoo (alloy barrel, composite handle) but the Vexxum features a balanced swing weight. Based on his height and weight, a 32" bat is recommended.

The DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVDR) is going to have the same swing weight as the DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVDR). My 8 year old has some pop with great contact. We are looking to add more pop to his swing. He currently is using an Easton Mako 30 inch 19 ounce. He is tall and lanky right now. Would the Voodoo 29 inch 20 ounce or 28 inch 19 ounce be better?

Based on what he has been using and what you are looking to get out of the bat, I would lean toward the 29 inch size of the DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVDR).

My son is a lead off hitter with great bat speed and base running. He is 5'6", 130 lbs. and in 14 U pony. He has been using a DeMarini Vexxum SC4 31" 21 oz. He is borderline contact/power hitter. Want to move him up to a 32" 23 oz. Overlord. Is this a good fit?

If your son is a borderline contact/power hitter, the DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVDR) may be a good choice. The end loaded swing weight of the OVERLORD will be ideal for power hitting. The two-piece design is great for contact hitting due to the additional flex it provides. Truly it will come down to if he is strong enough to comfortably and consistently control the end loaded OVERLORD, while maintaining quick bat speeds. Going to end loaded models before he is ready to can cause hitching or looping in his swing. If he would be able to make that transition comfortably without losing bat speed, the OVERLORD would be an excellent choice.

The DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVDR) is end-loaded, as is the Easton XL1 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL13X18). The OVERLORD would actually be slightly lighter in terms of swing weight if you get the same length.

My son plays 9U and is on the smaller side. He is about 4 foot 6 and weighs 55 pounds. Is the 28 inch bat okay for someone his age and stature? Is it okay to use in Babe Ruth league?

A 28 inch size of the DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVDR) would be a good fit for a player of that size but it may be a bit on the heavy side with that model. A more balanced model like the DeMarini Vexxum Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVXR) may be a better fit for your player.

We're looking for an end loaded bat for my son. He's about 5'4" and 125 lbs. He says he prefers an end loaded bat and currently is using both a 2 5/8" barrel Easton XL1. He also has the 2 5/8" barrel Easton XL3. The problem is that he just seems so much more comfortable with his small barrel XL1. We're trying to force him to move up to a big barrel when he plays on his tournament team. Any suggestions on how the balance is on this bat, or other end loaded bats that we should look at?

The DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVDR) will have more of a barrel heavy end loaded feel. As will the Easton XL-Series. They are really the most popular end loaded swing weighted bats that we see. I have also heard that the new 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 Senior League is slightly end loaded also. All of these bats are very high performing and durable. Any of them sound like a perfect choice for him.

For a player of his size, our bat coach would recommend the DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVDR) in a 30" 21 oz. model. He could also consider moving up to the 31" model, if you think that he will hit a growth spurt within the next few months.

My son is 12 years old, 4' 11" and 90 lbs. He's playing in a Pony League and is a gap/ contact hitter. He used a Combat Pure SL 30" 20 oz. last year . What bat would you recommend for him this year?

The DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVDR) will feature a two-piece hybrid design with a composite handle and an alloy barrel. It will also feature an end-loaded swing weight which we do not recommend for contact or gap hitters. Typically for a gap hitter, we would recommend a two-piece well balanced bat such as the 2015 Easton S1 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL15S110).

I'm 13 years old, 165 lbs and 5'7". I am a power hitter and I currently swing the 31" 23oz. Marucci Black 2. Would the Overlord or the CF6 be better for me?

The DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVDR) will be very similar to the Marucci Black 2 that you are currently swinging. Both bats are two-piece hybrids with composite handles and alloy barrels. The DXVDR will feature an end-loaded swing weight, while the Black 2 has a balanced swing weight. Additionally, the DXVDR does feature the D-Fusion handle, which does a great job of absorbing shock and vibration traveling through the bat. The DeMarini CF6 Senior League Baseball Bat (DXCFR) features a two-piece full composite design as well as a balanced swing-weight. Typically, we would recommend an end-loaded model for a power hitter such as yourself.

My son is 11 years old and 5'2" and 89 lbs. He currently swings a 29"19 oz. Omaha TPX and is primarily a line drive gap hitter. Which bat and size would you recommend for him?

The DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVDR) does feature an end-loaded swing weight. For most gap or contact hitters, we recommend a balanced two-piece bat. Another model you could consider in the 30" 20 oz. length our bat coach recommends for him would be theDeMarini CF6 Senior League Baseball Bat (DXCFX). This bat is offered in a two-piece full composite featuring the D-Fusion handle. This bat will have a very balanced swing weight.

I am a 12 year old power hitter and have been looking into getting a new bat but I'm torn between the CF7 and the Overlord. I currently use an Easton S2 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL13S210. Which would be more beneficial for me?

The DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVDR) will feature a two-piece hybrid design featuring the X12 alloy barrel as well as the D-Fusion handle to eliminate shock and vibration traveling through the bat. Additionally, it does feature an end-loaded swing weight. The 2015 DeMarini CF7 Senior League Baseball Bat (DXCFX) will feature a two-piece full composite design featuring DeMarini's top grade Paradox Composite as well as the D-Fusion handle. Additionally, it offers a well-balanced swing weight. The DXCFX will feel the most similar to the SL13S210, however we do recommend end-loaded models for power hitters, so the DXVDR could be a good option as well.

My son is playing 9u. He has been using the Easton S3 28/18. Would it be ok to let him use the Demarini Voodoo 28/19? He is about 4' 85 lbs.

The DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVDR) does have a slightly end loaded design and does swing heavier than the Easton S3. It is always best to progress in size and weight for any player and is always good to look into doing that. If he has good bat speed with the current S3, then it would be a good transition to move into the slightly end loaded and heavier Voodoo.

Jason Expert ·Jan 12, 2015

My son is 13 years old. He is 5'5" and 145 lbs. He used the voodoo paradox 31-22 last year, now he has to go to a -3 this year. Any thoughts on size and if the Overlord would be a good bat?

For a player of his size, our bat coach is recommending a 31" 29 oz. model. The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXVDC) will feature a two-piece hybrid design with the X12 alloy barrel. The OVERLORD does feature an end-load, which can make the transition from a drop 9 to a drop 3 a little more difficult. Since the bat is a two-piece model, this will help his bat speed as well as the transition. Additionally, I do like the D-Fusion handle, which does a great job of eliminating shock and vibration.

I'm 13 years old and only 5' tall and weigh about 90 pounds. I'm a good contact hitter in the number 2 spot. Do you think this would be good for a small kid like me?

For the 2014 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVDR), our bat coach actually recommends a 30" 21 ounce model. The DXVDR will feature a two-piece hybrid design with an X10 Alloy barrel as well as a Paradox Composite Handle for enhanced stiffness. Typically we recommend a two-piece bat for contact hitters as it can help improve your bat speed.

Should I choose the Vexxum or Voodoo for my 12 year old son? He is 5'6" 120lbs and a power hitter.

My 8 year old son has been using the 2013 Easton XL3 in a 27 inch 17 ounce size. It is short for him now. He is 54 inches tall and weighs about 80 pounds. He hits for quite a bit of power. Would this bat be beneficial? Would the jump to a 29 inch 20 ounce be too much?

The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVDR) is slightly end-loaded like the XL3 so it can benefit a power hitter by focusing the mass of the bat to where the ball is hit. Based on his height and weight, a 29 inch bat would be appropriate for a player of his size. The 3 ounce increase will be a challenge and will require work to adjust to but should be able to work for him.

My son is 5'4" 100 lbs. He is a contact hitter with occasional power. He does not like the Easton MAKO, but he performed with an Easton Quantum. Should we get a CF6 or Voodoo OVERLORD?

The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVDR) is similar to the Quantum in regards to design, but they swing completely differently. The OVERLORD has an end loaded swing weight and the Quantum has a balanced swing weight. A more comparable bat to the Easton Quantum from DeMarini is the Vexxum. If he does not like the MAKO, then he will most likely not like the CF6 as it is a very similar bat.

In those temperatures, the fibers in the ball get harder, which causes more stress on the bat, when it makes contact with the ball. This can cause premature damage to the barrel of the bat.

My son has used the 2012 Vexxum 30" 20 oz. big barrel for the past 2 years, and he loves it. He will be 12 in 2 months. He is 5' and 95 lbs, but very strong. He loves the Vexxum, but has very high, perhaps too high, of swing speeds with his Vexxum 30/20. I am trying to understand if the OVERLORD is very similar to the Vexxum? I am considering something heavier, and if the OVERLORD is a similar bat to the Vexxum it would definitely be in consideration at 30/21 or 31/22 sizing. The other route we are considering is the Easton XL1 30" 22 oz.

The Easton XL1 will feature a composite barrel and have a different feel upon contact compared to his Vexxum. The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVDR) will feature the same half and half design, with the alloy barrel. Yet, it will have an extended barrel design which will make the bat feel slightly heavier. This will slow down his bat speeds slightly and should be exactly what you guys are looking for!
