The Easton MAKO will require a break-in period. However, we do not recommend rolling the bats because that will void the warranty with Easton. We recommend taking 150 swings off the tee while making sure you rotate the barrel of the bat a quarter of an inch every 15 swings.

This is the first year the MAKO has been released by Easton. It is going to be Easton's top of the line composite bat that they have to offer. Easton uses its TCT Thermo Composite in the MAKO giving it a lighter swing weight while still having a massive sweet spot. It will have the swing weight like the Speed Series but the massive sweet spot like the XL.

Between those two bats, the Mako is going to be the better performer as well as more durable. Being fully constructed of composite material, the Mako will deliver more pop with every swing. The only thing the S3 would have over the Mako is that the S3 can be used in the colder temperatures. The Mako shouldn't be used in temperatures any cooler than 55 degrees.

With composite bats we recommend taking 150-200 swings playing soft toss or off a tee using real baseballs. Begin swinging at 40% power and work your way up to full strength as you get closer to 200 swings. It"s also important to rotate the bat ¼' after each swing to ensure that you get complete barrel coverage. Never break in your bat in a cage that uses yellow dimpled balls.

The Easton MAKO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB14MK) features a two piece full composite design. In order to break the composite down into a single layer, we would recommend 100-120 swings, either soft toss or off of a tee. The bat needs to be rotated 1/4" every twenty swings or so. Try not to hit against a machine, or live pitching until the bat is broken in, or composite speckling will occur.

The Easton MAKO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB14MK, like all bats, should not be used below 60 degrees because it can damage the bat. The ball actually becomes more dense in the colder temperatures and that is what can cause the bat to be damaged. Composite bats can crack and alloy bats can dent.
