Is there any difference between the Typhoon and the Hammer? If so what?

The Easton Typhoon BBCOR (BK63) features a Vibration Reduction System that helps to eliminate vibration and sting. It also features a Brace Barrel, which located critical points in the barrel to achieve BBCOR compliance while minimizing swing weight. The Hammer features an extra long barrel, which makes for an effective and responsive hitting area. They are both high performance models from Easton.

I am 15 years old, 5'9" and 136 lbs. I use ancient bats at my practice. They are heavy, useless, and hurt my hands. I already told myself that I would not spend more than $50 on a bat. However, I like something quick and nimble. Should I look into the typhoon?

If you are looking for a bat that will be able to perform, yet still remain cost effective, the Easton Typhoon BBCOR: (BK63) would be a great choice to take a look at. This model will be able to provide explosive power because it will incorporate 7046 Aircraft Alloy. It will also have a cushioned grip, and will incorporate Brace Barrel Technology to help improve performance and durability.

What exactly does it mean when a bat is "Top Heavy"? And is this bat top heavy?

When a bat is "top heavy" it has a slight end loaded feel to it. This means there is more weight in the end of the barrel and the weight doesn't feel evenly distributed. This bat does not have that end loaded feel. It will be more balanced.

My son is a junior in high school, 6 feet tall and 180 ish pounds. I'm wondering if a 32/29 size bat is too small, and if so what do you recommend?

I would go with the 33/30 for his height and weight.

Is this an approved bat for 14U baseball in IL?

With the 14U rules, If the bat has the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp on it, he can use a lighter bat. If it does not have the USSSA stamp then it has to be BBCOR certified which is considerably heavier at a -3 weight. Or it can be a wood bat.

Which is better for our 15 year old son? Easton Typhoon or Easton Reflex? and why? This bat has more positive reviews than the REFLEX, but the reflex has more alloy?

Both are similar in design, one piece all alloy. The Typhoon has a great pop. Both would be great for a 15yr old.

Does this bat have more pop than the demarini distace?

Well, it's hard to say. The only versions of the DeMarini Distance we have carried have been the youth and senior league models. From general feeback, the two bats are probably on par with each other in terms of pop and performance.

My son is 14 and looking for a good BBCOR bat to sart practicing with. He can use his CF4 for one more season in MN. What would you recommend for length?

Length is usually based on the player's height and weight and our "Bat Coach" link at the top of the webpage can be a helpful tool. A 32 will be most common for his age group though.
