The Louisville Slugger Pro Stock Lite Wood Bat Series is made from Northern White Ash which is the most common and dependable wood on the market. This bat has a medium barrel which gives a great hitting zone on the bat. The Pro Cupped end helps to balance the swing weight so you are able to generate a quicker, more powerful swing. This bat has a 15/16 inch handle for a comfortable grip and feel. The Louisville Slugger Pro Stock Lite Wood Bat Series is ideal for high school, college, adult senior league and minor league professional baseball. Pros: I was very excited about this bat. It had a lot of "pop" to it and I liked the feel of it.

Cons: This bat broke in half my second time using it. All hits were in the proper hitting area and I have been using a wood bat for quite a while so I know where to hit on the bat.

When selecting a wooden bat, what material is best? Maple, Ash, Bamboo? Sam the Slam
Depends on who you ask. Maple is harder and thought to be more durable than ash. Ash will be more flexible and the baseball often feels softer at contact. Bamboo is just as durable as maple and performs just as well as the two others. Maple is the most popular followed by Ash then Bamboo. This is because Maple and Ash are the most widely accepted wood bats no matter what league you play in.

Is it BBCOR certified? tornado

KB
Which is lighter? the 271 the 110 or the 243? jake
All will have an approximate -3 length to weight ratio. However, the 243 has the biggest barrel to handle ratio and will feel just a little heavier than the other two.

If I am a 14 year old who is 5'8 and 100 lb is this bat too small for me in the 29 in size you have avaiable? Bob
Considering your age, height and weight profile the Louisville Slugger Ash Pro Stock Lite in a 29 inch may be on the shorter side for your height. If you have trouble swinging a 30 inch bat then the 29 inch may be your best option.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
