Questions and Answers for Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha XL Senior League Baseball Bat: SL136XL

Since the 30/20 SL136xl is not available at this time, will it be available in the future? If not, which Louisville Slugger bat is the new model?

The Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha XL Senior League Baseball Bat (SL136XL) is the 2013 model so the production of it was discontinued in 2014 so we will not be getting any more in. The new 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLO515X) is the most similar current model.

I'm 94 lbs. and 5'. What size bat would I need?

The best recommended size in the Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha XL Senior League Baseball Bat (SL136XL) for a player at your height and weight will be a 30" 20 oz.

My son weigh about 60 pounds and is about 5 feet 4 or 5 inches tall. What size bat would you recommend? My other son is about 65 pounds and around the same height. Would he need to go up a size?

Based on their heights and weights, we would suggest a 30 inch bat for both of them. Unfortunately, the Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha XL Senior League Baseball Bat (SL136XL) is not available in that size. The closest option we do have in that size would be either the 2014 Louisville Slugger Assault Senior League Baseball Bat (SLAS14-RX) or the 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLO515X).

What is the difference between the Omaha xl and the Omaha? What does the XL stand for in the name?

The only difference between this Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha XL (SL136XL) Senior League bat and the (SL136) is the barrel diameter. The XL indicates this bat has the larger, 2 3/4" barrel diameter. The (SL136) offers the 2 5/8" barrel diameter.

Why don't you have the 34" version? Are 2 3/4 34" bats still made? I know about the metal storm bats you have, but are few companies making this type of bat?

The Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha XL (SL136XL) and most -10 bats are not made in a 34". Most players that use a 34" bat are swinging a -5 or a -3 bat.

My son is 8. He weighs a little over 60 lbs and is approximately 49" tall. I am looking for a big barrel bat for him and was interested in this bat. Can you tell me what the best option for him might be? I don't want a bat that is too heavy for him either.

Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 28" model in the Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha XL (SL136XL) Senior League. The Omaha has a balanced swing weight and is a terrific bat for any player.

My son is 6 years old and getting into coach pitch play. I am wondering if the TPX Omaha XL, in a 26", would be a good bat for him to swing and grow into during his years of coach pitch.

The Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha XL (SL136XL Senior League) is typically used by youth players needing a USSSA certified big barrel bat. The 26" 16 oz. sizing could work for him in his league.

I'm getting a 29" bat for my strong 8 yr old who is playing travel ball. He's hit well with this bat & the DeMarini Voodoo DXVDR (he has a teammate with each) so I think either one will do. Trying to decide if I should go with this one (-10 drop) or DeMarini (-9 drop) since he can handle either. For longer term, which one will last longer and be better: the Omaha because of the bigger barrel or the DeMarini because of the composite/allow construction & being heavier for more power on the ball?

The Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha XL (SL136XL) and the 2014 DeMarini Voodoo ( DXVDR) both use top of the line alloy materials. They both are very durable. The design of the bat does not effect the durability of the bat. The quality of the materials are more of a factor.

I noticed that some of the smaller bats like the 26" and 27" say recommended for 8 and under. Is that true of this bat?

The models that are recommended for players 8 and under are the Junior Big Barrel models. Those designs have slightly thinner barrel walls and will often not hold up well against pitch speeds around 40+ mph. But this Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha XL (SL136XL) Senior League bat does not have that same age recommendation, but it is still a balanced model that a younger player could use very well.

Trying to decide between this Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha XL & the Easton S3: SL11S310B. We play about half season in 50-60 degree weather before it warms up. My son prefers a balanced bat and is kind of an all around hitter. He is a larger kid for his age. My nephew weights about 181 and 4'9" inches tall. He is in little league and travels within the city with his team. He is currently in AA level and will be trying out for AAA this Saturday. Even thou he is 9years old he plays with the 10years olds. Im looking for a Louisville Slugger Bat.I saw this bat (TPX Omaha XL:136XL 2013. Would this be a appropriate bat?

If he is in the 9-12 year old division within Little League, the 2013 Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha XL: SL136XL will be illegal because it has a barrel larger than 2 1/4". The version of the Omaha that would be legal for that division is the 2013 Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha: YB136.

My son is 7 and is 4ft9 78 lbs. and plays coach pitch baseball. The leauge is very competitive fyi. Last year I bought him a TPX omaha 27/17. He hits well but his bat is too small now and he doesnt get good coverage over the plate. I think he could go bigger but the coach suggests a 29 inch or smaller. I would like to find him a bat that is long enough but isn't too heavy to come around. What would you suggest?

A 29" bat is recommended based on his size. A bat with a weight of 17 to 19 oz. is recommended based on his most previous bat. It's always recommend that a player stick with the same type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to have continued success at the plate. So, if he has success with the Omaha last season, the best recommendation would be to stick with the same model.

My son is 4'4" and 70 lbs. He used a 29" bat last season on our travel team. Will a 28" bat give him enough plate coverage?

That would be a much better question to pose to his coach as we are unable to see, analyze, nor coach the player's swing. However, based on his size, a 28" bat is most common and he should be just fine with it.

My son is an 8 year old 4ft. 4in. 68lbs, and is playing 9/10 under travel baseball. He has been swinging a 27" 17oz. Worth Lithium Bat. He needs a new bat that will hold up in kid pitch. I want something balanced with a large sweet spot so he can continue to have power to all sides of the field.
