Description

Introducing the classiest bat to ever hit the field, the Marucci Black. Combining a longer barrel with big league balance and a sleek design, the Black offers everything players could want in a top of the line bat. Constructed using Marucci's patented new two-piece design, the Black fuses an AZ3000 Alloy barrel with a composite handle. The composite handle on the Black is made extra stiff so that players can hit for maximum power, while Marucci's AZ3000 Alloy is ultra-responsive and provides the industry's best combination of performance and durability. The barrel on the black is made extra-long which results in a larger sweet spot and increased trampoline effect. The Black also features unprecedented big league balance, which means that players don't have to sacrifice swing speed for a bigger barrel. A reduced M.O.I. gives the bat a lighter swing weight for increased swing velocity, and ultimately more power. Marucci also brings their popular anti-vibration knob to the Black which, combined with the bat's two-piece construction, effectively eliminates negative vibration to give players maximum confidence and comfort at the plate. Marucci: Taking Baseball By Storm! The Black features the USSSA 1.15 BPF. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

bat balance jonas player

Pros: if your are a somewhat powerful hitter, this bat is the best bat for you. if u are a power hitter, I highly recommend to buy a drop 5. the drop 5 is very well balanced and it almost feels like a drop 8. but since the bat has more mass, the ball went way farther.

Cons: don't get it of the hands. (but the ball still goes far)

balance jonas sanders player

Pros: this is the best bat in the world nj. if u r going into the season thinking that u want a drop 8, then think again. i was thinking that and but decided to go with the drop 5 because of the equation (force*mass=distance.) this bat is so balanced, that it feels like a drop 8 but performs like a drop 8.

Cons: end piece falls off after 20 games and 20 practices, so we sent it back. then it dents.

DONT GET THIS BAT! baseball player player

Pros: I got this bat at the beginning of last season. Has many cons but pros are looks of the bat and the grip on the handle.

Cons: Theres so many cons to name. Within the first game of my season the bat would scratch every time you hit it. At first, the pop is unbelievable, but it doesnt last long. The more you swing the worse it gets. It should last a year and it lasted a couple months. If you don't hit it on the sweet spot it hurts terribly. I love marucci wood bats, but metals a different story.

How is the balance different than the original Black and the Black 2? Coach
The 2014 Marucci Black: MSBB145 Senior League will be similar in balanced to the Marucci Black 2.
Kara
I'm looking for a 2 5/8" barreled drop 5 bat that has a composite handle and an alloy barrel. Is the entire list: vexxum, voodoo, and Marucci Black 2? Vexxum's are end loaded; Is the Marucci more balanced than the Voodoo? Coach
As of 10/28/2013 we have the DeMarini Voodoo, DeMarini Vexxum, Marucci Black 2 and the Marucci Elite for the two-piece hybrid design. The Marucci Elite and the DeMarini Vexxum will be the two balanced designs. The Marucci Black and the DeMarini Voodoo will be the two slightly end-loaded designs.
John
Is the Marucci Black extremely end loaded like the Voodoo? sge
The 2014 Marucci Black: MSBB145 Senior League has a balanced swing weight.
Jason
What about temperature limitations? Does the hybrid get around the composites limits for early spring ball? noble cane
The hybrid is capable of playing in the colder climates since it is constructed with an alloy barrel. Composite barrels really shouldn't be used in anything colder than 55 degrees.
Derek
What is the main difference between this bat and the 2014 Marucci Elite? TC
The 2014 Marucci Elite (MSBE145) Senior League will be slightly more balanced than the 2014 Marucci Black (MSBB145) Senior League because the barrel is a blend of alloy and composite.
Damon
How many swings to break in this bat? How does it compare in pop to XL1-5? Thanks. Travis
The 2014 Marucci Black (MSBB145) has an alloy barrel and will not require a break-in period. It is very high performing like the XL1.
Kara
I am between this and the Marucci Elite. I'm 5'4 and 110 pounds. Which would be a better bat for me? ZT#3
The 2014 Marucci Black (MSBB145) has an extended barrel and will feel slightly end loaded compared to the Marucci Elite. Both are two-piece bats designed for a contact hitter.
Kara
Getting confused with the Black and Elite. Are both considered balanced bats? Which one is most like the old Louisville Slugger EXOGRID -5? MattS
The 2014 Marucci Black: MSBB145 Senior League is a balanced model with a composite handle and alloy barrel. The Marucci Elite will have a similar construction to the Black, but it will feature a special composite end cap at the final 3-4" on the barrel to help reduce swing speeds. It would be hard to compare these bats to the Exogrid, since that bat is a one-piece aluminum model with composite inserts in the handle.
Justin R.
I'm trying to decide between this bat and the new Louisville Slugger Assault. Ike
The 2014 Marucci Black (MSBB145) and the 2014 Louisville Slugger Assault (SLAS14-R5) are both very high performing bats. The Marucci Black is a two-piece design with a composite handle and alloy barrel. The Assault is a one-piece alloy bat. The Assault will be more balanced and slightly stiffer than the Marucci Black. The stiff design is ideal for a power hitter. The two-piece design is better for a contact hitter.
Kara
Is this a good transition bat from the 2013 Rip-it -8 bat? The guy
The 2014 Marucci Black (MSBB145) would be a good step towards ultimately transitioning to a BBCOR bat from a -8. The -5 length to weight ratio is the closest to the -3 required for BBCOR certification that you could find and would be the next logical step from a -8.
Patrick
My son swings a -10 Marucci Elite for his 12U travel team and loves it. Hit 4 dingers so far. I know its allowed for 50/70 but because of the composite end cap I don't think the Elite -5 is legal in 50/70. He will be 13 this fall. Is the Black okay for 50/70 ball and Babe Ruth League? Pious Punk
The 2014 Marucci Black (MSBB145) is legal for both 50/70 and Babe Ruth Leagues.
Kara
I am more of a contact hitter because I am a smaller guy, but I am looking to swing a drop 5 to get ready for BBCOR bats. What would be better for me, this Marucci or the 2014 Easton S3 (SL14S310) Senior League? Let me know. Goose
Both the 2014 Marucci Black (MSBB145) Senior League and the 2014 Easton S3 (SL14S310) Senior League will be similar in that they are both one-piece well balanced bats.
Damon
I am a number 4 hitter on a 13u team. Is this bat good for lots of power? Devin
The 2014 Marucci Black (MSBB145) is a great design for generating power. The -5 length to weight ration puts more mass behind the ball which can lead to more power if you swing it well.
Patrick
I bought a Marucci Black -5 for my son this season, moving up from the -8 version he used last year. In batting practice I've noticed he consistently gets less distance with the -5. Is this because it is a "pre-BBCOR" bat or should it have the same pop as the lighter versions? Steve
The lack of distance with the 2014 Marucci Black (MSBB145) could possibly be explained by a drop off in the swing velocity. If he is able to adjust to the weight and swing the bat at a higher speed, he may be able to gain more distance.
Patrick
im five six one hundred and thirty three pounds, i play pony and have been hitting the fence with a drop 8 easten s 400, i am a power hitter but just need like ten more feet more power, will this bat do it? bigtut13
Yes. The 2014 Marucci Black (MSBB1455) Senior League will be a higher performing at than the Easton S400.
Damon
Does this bat have a break-in time? If so, then how long? Bas3ball4Lif3
No, the 2014 Marucci Black Senior League Baseball Bat: (MSBB145) will not require a break-in because it features an alloy barrel. Therefore, this model will be hot right out of the wrapper, and will have a high performance.
Merritt
What is the difference between this and the Marucci Elite? DINGER
The 2014 Marucci Black Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBB145) is a two-piece hybrid design with a slightly end loaded swing weight. The Marucci Elite is technically a three-piece hybrid design. It has a composite handle, alloy barrel, and composite end cap. The composite end cap makes the bat extremely balanced.
Jason
Is this end loaded for power or balanced for bat speed? Carter

The legality of this Marucci Black Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBB145) in a middle school league will be up to the specific bat rules of that league. I would recommend checking with the league to see if this bat fits into the legal parameters they have put forward for bats.
