Pros: Great feel, swings light I went from a 27oz to 28oz, My Wife went up from a 26oz to 27oz. We both play Senior Softball and feel this is the next Great Senior Bat from Miken.

Cons: None so far it is so new we cannot comment on Durability which is always and issue with Senior Bats.

Mr. Wolf

Pros: First time owner of a Miken, it hits very good, needs about 100 hits to break it in. About 30ft better than my Cententarian

Cons: There is always a question about durability with a Miken Ultra II.It has a different feel when the ball comes off the bat than a Combat We'll see at the end of 2013.

Pros: Hit 2 rounds of BP and the bat is a true Miken, lots of lasers and bombs. The 2 piece swings nice.

Cons: Just like a Miken it broke after the 31st hit. Warm California day, using dry tourny balls. Back to my melee 200+ hits and going strong.

Pros: Everyone in my area is raving about this bat. This bat is a easy sell after they borrow my bat. I should be a Miken rep.

Cons: No job offers from Miken.

Pros: Very good pop once you get used to the two piece style. It does have a true balanced feel. Ball just jumps off the fairly large sweet spot.

Cons: Have not hit it enough yet to determine durability. It does swing about an ounce lighter than it actually is.

Pros: Broke it in carefully. Hitting 24 balls at 50% speed while quarter turning the bat after each cut. 24 swings at approx. 75% swing speed.

Cons: 7 swings at game speed and it broke! That's right, breaking it in and it broke same day. Same old, same old with a Miken!

Short Changed

Pros: Ball seemed to jump off upon contact as advertised.

Cons: Unrealiable. No warranty. Poor quality. Second at bat, solid base hit, bat knob fell off. Not the end cap, the knob.

Pricey

Pros: Added distance to all hits Solid results as others bragged about

Cons: Beware. Lasted 2 games, 9 at bats before the knob end came off. Cost Average: $110.00 per game, $23.33 per at bat

Pros: Love the 2 piece, hit long right out of the wrapper but broke during 1st round of BP with senior balls.

Cons: Sold my second bat to a teammate for a profit. He is a singles hitter and has used it all season. Not a power hitters bat.

Pros: Purchased one in March and it fully broke in after 75-100 hits with a lot of pop! Continued to perform well through the summer.

Cons: All things must come to an end, and this bat ended quickly. Didn't make it through the whole season as the bat blew apart in late October. I'm guessing around 250 hits when it totally shattered. Bummer..

miken ultra 2 joey coach

Pros: First game outta the wrapper it didn't do so well. No one wanted to use it. But I kept on using, about 20-40 hits it started to open up. Once they realized the pop this was our only game bat for the tourney. Our females were hitting 30' more. I expect more to come out of this bat. I never owned a senior bat but I will purchase another. I currently have about 75-125 hits on this bat, I know it hasn't fully opened up.

Cons: Loose composite in the barrel.

Pros: Team mate had a monster to center 400' on our baseball field. 3' from going over. Also 1 homer in left field 340' fence line. Ball cleared over center road way Lane landed around 380'-390'. Bounced once into private property.

Cons: Loose composite.

Pros: After about 100+ hits this bat is FIRE I have used numerous bats in my life and I can say that my furthest hit ever is with this bat.

Cons: I personally have not seen this bat breal but I have heard of HORROR stories about durability. I suspect that many of these guys are using this bat for BP and LIVE games. This is NOT a BP bat and do not allow anyone else to use it. This bat is EXTREMELY hot

Way above other Senior bats Jeno player

Pros: After around 150 swings this bat is hitting like my black Ultra II with 300 hits on it. Consistently 300-315' with large sweet spot. Let's us Senior guys (57) compete with guys half our age. Both bats holding up well, just a few chips in paint on two piece.

Cons: After the first at bat in Senior league games, I usually get walked, a lot.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Miken Ultra II Balanced Two-Piece Senior Slow Pitch Softball Bat: SPU2S? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Why do I want this bat over the traditional Miken Ultra II. What are the pluses and minuses? I will be purchasing a new Miken this winter. pete
The Miken Ultra II Two-Piece Senior Softball will have more flex than the traditional Miken Ultra II. This is great for a contact hitter. The traditional Miken Ultra II is a stiffer one-piece bat.
Kara
Is the two- piece constructed bat for power hitters? Or better for contact hitters? Big Dog
The two-piece construction is better suited for contact hitters.
Kara
Just beginning to play Senior ball. I am 6'3", 200 lbs, would you recommend this Senior 2013 Ultra II or the current 2012 Ultra II? Odd job
Both the 2012, and the Miken Ultra 2's are going to perform very similar, both years are very high performing bats.
Noah
hello if the 2012 & the 2013 ultra 11 both perform the same, what makes the 2013 any different? is there any reason to switch to the new 2 pc? tks stew
Some players prefer a two-piece design which will offer more flex. Others prefer the stiffer feel of a one-piece design. So, it all comes down to the player and their preferences.
Tyler
I was told that the 2-piece Utra was a bit more durable. Is there any reason to think this is true? Joe
The Miken Ultra II Two-Piece Senior Softball: SPU2S Slow Pitch uses newer technology for better durability and performance.
Kara
I'm 5'8" in and weigh 145 pounds. What weight bat should I buy? Mark
I would recommend a 28 oz. bat. The weight of a softball bat is really a personal preference of the player but the most used weight would be 28 oz.
Jeff
What is the BPF # on this bat? hawk
The Bat Performance Factor on the Miken Ultra II Two-Piece Senior Softball: SPU2S Slow Pitch bat is SSUSA 1.21 Certified.
Brandon
I realize Miken claims "this bat will have better durability" but what makes this have better durability? And exactly how much better durability does it have? I know all my old Ultra 2's lasted me less than 150 hits....can I expect more than that out of this one? I'm sure the durability still must not be that great if they offer no warranty on it whatsoever still. I know your not an expert on this particular bat and there's not a ton of reviews on it yet but just looking for your opinion before my purchase, thanks! Spencercitykid
The Miken Ultra II Balanced Two-Piece Senior Softball: SPU2S Slow Pitch bat will feature Miken's new Triad Technology to the Ultra II Two-Piece. This technology revolutionizes bat construction through Miken's triple pressure application that harnesses the thermal expansion of their high-grade carbon fiber to give this bat unparalleled durability and jaw-dropping performance.
Brandon
I will be replacing my current older Ultra 2 which is a 28 oz. bT due to a crack. I'm wondering if I should stay with the 28 oz. in the balanced two-piece 2013 Ultra 2, or should I move down to a 27 oz.? Lori
If you were succesfull with the 28 oz. bat you should get the Miken Ultra II Balanced Two-Piece Senior Softball: SPU2S Slow Pitch in a 28 oz., but if it was a little to heavy I would go down an ounce.
Noah
Why is there no 29 oz. available in this particular model bat? Lori
Miken does not produce the Miken Ultra II Balanced Two-Piece Senior Softball: SPU2S Slow Pitch bat in the 29 oz. model. The 29 oz. model is just not a very common size for Slow Pitch softball bats.
Mac
Is it better than the Legit and Baden Axe? If so, why? softball12
The Miken Ultra II Balanced Two-Piece Senior Softball (SPU2S Slow Pitch) bat would definitely be a great selection. It would have a longer barrel length than the other two bats at 13.5". Also, the two-piece fully composite design will feel very balanced.
Brandon
How many hits does it take to break this Miken Ultra ll in? I am an average hitter, not much power, will this bat give me some power? Does this bat break easily? george
Given the nature of the thinner barrel walls on the Miken Ultra II Balanced Two-Piece Senior Slow Pitch Softball Bat (SPU2S) we do not necessarily recommend a break-in period for the bat. It is designed to allow for easier hitting for players who do not swing quite as hard. That being said, they are more susceptible to breakage than some other models due to how thin the barrel walls are.
Patrick
Does it have an ASA certification stamp on the bat? Larry
The Miken Ultra II Balanced Two-Piece Senior Slow Pitch (SPU2S) does not feature a ASA stamp. The Miken Ultra II SPU2S is designed for Senior Softball only.
John
What is the BPF on this bat? Thank you. Huskerman
The Miken Ultra II Balanced Two-Piece Senior Slow Pitch Softball Bat: SPU2S will feature a 1.21 BPF stamp.
John P.
What is the BPF on this bat? Huskerman
The Miken Ultra II Balanced Two-Piece Senior Slow Pitch Softball Bat: SPU2S features a 1.21 BPF.
Jason
Why did they quit making this 2-piece Senior bat? Joe
Unfortunately, I do not know why Miken decided to stop making this exact Miken Ultra II Balanced Two-Piece Senior Slow Pitch Softball Bat (SPU2S). However, this winter, Miken will be coming out with a new line of Senior Bats. There may be a chance that a 2-piece Senior bat could be included in that new release.
Ben
I want to buy one. Where can I get one or is there a later model like this one? Len
This is an older model that is not in production anymore, so your best bet would be looking for one on Ebay or another site such as that. As for current models, we have the Miken Ultra II Senior Slow Pitch model, which is nearly the same bat. You can find it here: https://www.justbats.com/product/miken-ultra-ii-senior-slow-pitch-softball-bat--msu2/6387/

About the Brand

During the past few years, serious softball players have looked to Miken Sports for bats that provide the highest levels of performance and durability. Our relentless focus on both technology and the demands of players has made Miken the most demanded line of softball bats today.

Although composites are the latest trend in softball bats, the technology has been the core of Miken's success since the company's inception. Miken pioneered the modern high-performance composite softball bat in 1998 and has pushed the limits with every model since. No other bat company has driven innovation as hard, and the results are indisputable. Look around. If a player is serious about softball, they are most likely swinging a Miken bat.

The success of Miken Sports has been driven by two forces - innovation and a passion for delivering what players demand. The results are obvious. Players have decided that composites are the future for bats, and no one does composite like Miken.
