Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 34" bat. The AIR will feature a one-piece fully alloy design. While the AIR Elite will have a composite handle and an alloy barrel. What would cause the grip on this bat to separate after three batting practices? My son loves the bat. Should we consider replacing with RIP-IT or just replace the grip? JT
It's hard to say what exactly caused the grip to fail, but both of those options are open to you. Many players end up re-gripping a bat to their preference, and there are a lot of after market grip options out there. But RIP-IT may be able to either send you a new grip or replace it under the 30 Day Guarantee. If your player is a left handed hitter, this may be the issue. The way the grip tape is oriented on the bat is better suited to withstand the friction created by a right handed hitter. Lefties will often run into this issue, and it's better to re-grip the bat in the opposite direction, but I'm not certain if this applies to your situation. The Air Elite features an alloy barrel and composite handle while the CF6 features a fully composite design. Both will offer some flex with the two-piece design and both will adhere to BBCOR standards of performance. The preference for which one you would like would be determined by which barrel material you prefer to use.

Using the 2014 RIP-IT BBCOR AIR Elite: (B1403E) is not necessarily safer to use in colder temperatures because of its hybrid design. Any time you use alloy or composite in temperatures lower than 55 degrees, there is always a risk. The balls become denser in colder temperatures increasing the risk of a crack or dent on the barrel. Avoiding certain temperatures is sometimes unavoidable, however, keep in mind both material are at risk.
