Pros: My son is 11 and used the bat the first time during live BP on the field this past weekend. I was very impressed with the quiet sound and the amount of pop this base had compared to the black and yellow Easton that he owns.

Cons: Bat tends to mark up with ball ink.

Pros: This bat has a lot of pop. My kid is hitting harder with this bat than with the comparable DeMarini.

Cons: All the kids will want to use it. Make sure they don't use the bat to knock the mud of their cleats or it will chip the finish tremendously. It is difficult to ask another kids parents to replace a bat after that happens.

What bat do you think I should get the DeMarini Vexxum -5 or the Marucci Black -5? baseballrules222
Both bats will have great pop. The Marucci Black 2 will be slightly more balanced than the DeMarini Vexxum. Here is a link to further compare the two bats. http://www.justbats.com/compare/

Zach

The 2013 Marucci Black 2 is a balanced model. The weight in the bat is evenly distributed.
Nick
I had the marucci cat 5 last year for pony, i wanted to know how the black2 stands up to the cat 5? Better feel? Longer life? Larger sweet spot? Cheetah
Feel comes down to the preference of the player as some players prefer a one-piece bat like the Cat 5, others prefer a two-piece bat like the Black 2. Both will have similar durability. The Black 2 will have a slightly larger sweetspot.
Tyler
Which bat would be better for a power contact hitter, this bat or the Easton XL1? Justhitit
Both the 2012 Marucci Black 2 and the Easton XL1 are good bats for power contact hitters. The XL1 will have more of an end load to it and is going to be fully composite. The Black 2 is a two-piece hybrid bat and will be more balanced.
John
Does this bat have a break in period Manster
This bat doesn't have a break-in period, because the barrel is constructed out of AZ3000 Aerospace Alloy. Only those barrels comprised of the composite material will need the break-in. Here is the link to view more details on this specific model. http://www.justbats.com/product/2013-marucci-black-2--msbb25-senior-league/16931/
Derek
Is this bat legal for High School play? Saints
No, this bat is a Senior League -5 model. You would need the Adult version in BBCOR -3 sizing. Try looking at this one: 2013 Marucci Black 2 BBCOR: MCBB20 Adult.
Brandon
What's the difference on performance between the Marucci Black and Marucci Black 2? sammy
The 2013 Marucci Black 2: MSBB25 Senior League bat will be better balanced, more stiff, and have a slightly longer barrel than the 2012 Marucci Black. The performance will be very comparable between the two.
Aubrey
Is the Marucci Black 2 as balanced as the Marucci Cat 5? Tommy
Yes. The Marucci Black is as balanced as the Cat 5 but will have more flex because it is a two-piece bat.
Damon
What is the difference between Senior League and Adult bats? My son needs a 32" BBCOR. Dawn
Senior League bats will have a -5 to -12 length to weight ratio. Adult bats will only have a -3 length to weight ratio and be BBCOR certified. I would recommend the 32" 2013 Marucci Black 2 BBCOR: MCBB20 Adult bat.
Doug F.
I'm looking for a new travel ball bat for my son he's 11, 5' tall & 75 lbs. He wants a cat 5, but I'm also looking at the Black & Black 2. Can you tell me the difference in the 3? Tiff
The Marucci Cat 5 is going to be a one-piece alloy bat, but the Marucci Black, and Marucci Black 2 will both be two-piece bats. A one-piece bat is going to be geared more toward a power hitter, while a two-piece bat is going to be more for a contact hitter. The only difference between the Marucci Black 1 and 2 is the Marucci Black 2 has an Aramid-Reinforced grip that reduces vibration in the handle.
Noah
My 13yr old is a power hitter, what would be better, Black 2, Exo 3, or Easton XL1 all in drop 5? Crusher
If he's a power hitter with good swing speed, a more endloaded bat is recommended like the XL1.
Tyler
How does it compare to the Combat B3? dave
Both the 2013 Marucci Black 2, and the 2013 COMBAT B3 will both be high performing bats. The B3 will be a one-piece design, which is better for a power hitter, and the Marucci Black 2 will be a two-piece bat allowing the barrel to flex, which makes it a better bat for a contact hitter.
Noah
I am 5'5 110 pounds twelve year old (will be 13 in March) playing on the 90 foot field. Do you think I should move to a -5 or -8 version of this bat? I have been using a -12 Mattingly Beast over the last couple of seasons. Next Fall I will likely play in a league that requires a BBCOR bat. Will
We recommend using the -8 in the 2013 Marucci Black 2: MSBB25 Senior League. moving up seven ounces to a -5 would be too heavy.
Kara
I'm 13 and 130 pounds, playing on a 80 foot diamond. Would the -5 be better or should I buy the -8? Jack
This really depends on the size of bat you have now. The 2013 Marucci Black 2: MSBB25 Senior League would be a good choice if you are trying to make the transition to a BBCOR bat. If you currently are using a -10, we recommend to use a -8.
Kara
How does this bat compare to the Easton XL3? Ben
The Marucci Black 2 is a two-piece bat with a composite handle and alloy barrel. It is designed more for a line drive hitter, whereas the Easton XL3 will be a one-piece alloy bat and is more end-loaded for a power hitter.
Damon
I am 14 and weigh 105 pounds playing for on a full sized field. Should I use the 31 26 or the 30 25. Last year I used the 31 26, so I want to know if the 30 25 would be better. playerr#02
I would recommend you stick with the 31" 26 oz bat. We recommend not going down in size, unless there is a significant decrease in performance. Especially at 14 when you are still growing and getting stronger, I would recommend at least a 31" bat.
Justin R.
Is this bat legal for usssa and nations 14u travel ball? Tribe
Yes. The 2013 Marucci Black 2: MSBB25 is legal in USSSA and Nations.
Tyler

Marcus
Can I get this bat in a 33" 28 oz. drop 5? My 13 year old son is 6' tall and is used to a 33" 28 oz bat. Mark
Unfortunately the 2013 Marucci Black 2: MSBB25 Senior League is only manufactured in 30", 31", 32" sizes.
Damon
Is it to much transition to go from a Easton XL 31" 22 oz. to a Marucci Black 2 31" 26 oz.? trex
Even though the Easton XL is end loaded, we recommend not to increase the weight of the bat by four ounces. We recommend the 2013 Marucci Black 2: MSBB28 Senior League in a 31" 23 oz. or a 32" 24 oz., depending on his height and weight. Please check out our bat coach for the correct length: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/.
Kara
Is the Marucci Black 2 better than the 2013 Easton XL1? evan
The 2013 Marucci Black 2 and the 2013 Easton XL1 are going to be very similar in performance. The XL1 is going to have a bigger sweet spot, but the weight is a lot more end loaded. The Black 2 will have a pretty balanced swing weight with a smaller sweet spot.
Noah
Is this Marucci Black 2 better than the Easton XL3? I am a power hitter with incredible bat speed. I am 13 years old with a weight of 145 lbs. Jantzenator
The 2013 Marucci Black 2: MSBB25 Senior League bat and the Easton XL3 are both great bats for the power hitter. The XL3 will have an extended barrel design and an end loaded swing weight. This Black 2 will be more of a balanced bat and feel lighter in swing weight.
Brandon
My son is swinging the Easton Reflex 31" 22.5 oz. Looking to move into a 32" 27 oz. bat. Which one would you recommend, Easton XL3, Eaton S3 or Marucci Black 2? klayton6
The 2013 Marucci Black 2 Senior League is the most balanced of the three and has upgraded materials in handle.
Chad M.
What is the difference between the Louisville Slugger TPX Exogrid 3 -5 and Marucci Black 2 -5? Coach
The 2013 Marucci Black 2: MSBB25 Senior League is a two-piece bat with a composite handle and an extended barrel. The Louisville Slugger TPX Exogrid 3 is a one-piece alloy with composite inserts in the handle of the bat.
Kara
My son needs to transition to a -5 bat in preparation for intermediate ball. He currently swings a Combat Bubba 30/22. He's 12 year old and one of the smallest on the team at 4'8" and 85 lbs. Should the length stay at 30"? Would the Marucci Black 2 work, or an end loaded bat like the Easton XL1? Sluggahz
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 30" model in the 2013 Marucci Black 2: MSBB25 Senior League bat. The Easton XL1 is a good bat, but I would recommend a more balanced model for a player who is making a significant increase in weight.
Aubrey
Is this the most balanced out of the -8 Senior League bats? philly
The 2013 DeMarini CF5 will be the most balanced -8 bat.
Noah
When is the next shipment of bats? I would like a 32 in. 27 ounce. KUZ
