Yes. In a side-by-side comparison between the 2014 Easton MAKO: (SL14MK9) Senior League and (SL14MKB) in the same length, the (SL14MK9) has a slightly longer barrel. The difference is approximately 1/4", and I wouldn't consider that a major difference in the sweet spot sizes they offer.

The 2014 Easton MAKO (SL14MK9) and the 2014 DeMarini CF6 (DXCFR) are both quality, two piece composite bats. These bats would be capable of batted ball speeds that would benefit a power hitter. In general, power hitters tend to prefer a stiffer flex that a one piece design would provide. Two piece designs offer more flex that can create control problems for players who generate higher bat head speeds.

Composite barrel bats have to be BBCOR certified according to Little League Rules. They do not have to use a BBCOR bat if it has an alloy barrel. Little League does not have a limit on the drop. Players can use any drop as long as it has an alloy barrel. However, if you are searching for a -9 bat, the 2014 Easton XL3 (SL14X39) is a great option.

Based on his height and weight we suggest a 30" 21 oz model. However, a 31" 22 oz model in the Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14MK9) would work if you are comfortable with his current swing speed.

The Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14MK9) is not available in a drop 5. If you have been experiencing success with the MAKO, we would obviously not recommend moving away from it. However, in that 33" model you were looking for in the drop 5, you would have to look at either the 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) or the

The Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14MK9) will feature a two-piece composite design similar to the Easton S1. However, the MAKO does have a larger sweet spot and feels more end-loaded than the S1. In terms of performance, I would give the MAKO the edge. The SL15MK9 features a 2 5/8" barrel diameter as well as the drop 9 length to weight ratio. The SL15MK10B features a 2 3/4" barrel diameter as well as the drop 10 length to weight ratio. Easton does tend to change the sizes, diameters and drop weights offered each year based off of what has been successful in past years, as well as what they think will be successful in the future.

My son is 11 and is 5'1" and 110 lbs. He played with the 2 1/4" Mako 31" 21 oz. bat last year and had very good swing speed and power. This year he can now use a 2 5/8" bat. I am looking at the Easton XL1 (31/26 or 30/25), Mako 31/22 and the Louisville Prime 915 (31/26 or 30/25). Which one do you recommend? Jake
All of these bats would be good options. The XL1 is going to have a more end-loaded feel compared to the other two so if you are looking to add a little more power to his swing that may be a good option. The Prime 915 isn't going to have the extended barrel of the XL1 but will swing much more balanced. Ultimately I would go for the Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14MK9) due to the fact that he's been using one and doing well with it. Also it features the extended barrel of the XL1 while maintaining a more balanced swing weight.

The Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14MK9) is not BBCOR approved. For your height and weight our charts are recommending a 32". I would recommend finding a very balanced design to help increase bat speed. A couple of balanced models that I would recommend is the 2015 Easton MAKO BBCOR (BB15MK), 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBRVB), and the 2015 Marucci CAT 6 BBCOR (MCBC614).

Since it is not a BBCOR bat, it is illegal and would not be allowed for use in a game. If you attempt to use it and it is found to be an illegal model it will be thrown out and you will be called out. Other possible punitive measures may be taken as well.

Once you have bat broken in I would suggest using it only in games if possible. If you need to use it in practice it won't diminish the life of the bat too drastically.
