Description

The next generation of Power Brigade has arrived. Now in its second season, this groundbreaking line of bats is unlike anything else on the field today. The concept is simple: Help players hit for power. However, Easton realizes that different players achieve a powerful swing in different ways. That's why the Power Brigade is divided into two distinct series - the XL Series (XL1, XL2, and XL3) and the Speed Series (S1, S2, and S3). The XL Series is designed for bigger, stronger hitters who derive their power from a bat with more mass. Smaller length to weight ratios, and an extra-long barrel with a massive sweet spot and a slight end load characterize the XL Series. The Speed Series, on the other hand, helps players increase their swing speed in order to generate more power. These bats feature lighter length to weight ratios, a lower M.O.I., and a balanced feel. Further trying to equip players with their perfect bat, Easton offers all of its Power Brigade bats in a two-piece IMX Composite/SIC Black Carbon design (XL1, S1), a two-piece IMX Composite/THT100 Scandium Alloy hybrid design (XL2, S2), and a one-piece THT Scandium Alloy design (XL3, S3). Two of the highest performing materials ever used on a bat, Easton's patented IMX Composite optimizes the sweet spot for maximum performance, while their THT Scandium Alloy provides solid durability and allows for a larger alloy sweet spot than is seen anywhere else on the field. Throw in an array of additional world-class Easton technology, and you've got a line of bats that can't be topped. Easton: Personalize Your Power! The XL1 features the new USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp. It is backed by Easton's Exclusive 12 Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Mass pop JLO player

Pros: I just picked this bat up and got my first cage round today so the duribility is yet to be determined. One thing that is abdolutley amazing with this bat, that many others dont have is that if you hit the ball on the very end of the barrel the ball will still fly and wont feel dead. Its definitely a very flexible bat which I like. MASSIVE sweetspot, biggest yet. The sweetspot is comparable to most combat bats ( which are known for huge barrels & sweetspots ). The handle is thin and the sound to the bat is absolutley awesome. I recommend this bat to any power hitters out there. But beware of the end loded barrel.

Cons: Havent had any so far, but ive barely had the thing.

Pros: So far everything has been great. I am twelve 5'10 150lbs and I use a 30 inch 25 ounce. Just got my first round in the cage. Had AMAZING POP. Even when I hit it on the end it felt like it still had some pop and it didn't sting at all. I have the xl3 2013 and its pop is no where near the pop of this. It is pretty end loaded but I like that. This was only my first round with the bat just breaking it in so I can not determine the durability yet. Overall it is a BEAST!!!!!!

amazing pop has opponents complaining kevin c parent

Pros: Amazing pop. My 16 year old just replaced a 2 yr old version of this bat. First at bat by the teams clean-up hitter was apx 330 ft shot over the fence. The opposing coach demanded to see the bat as it "must be illiegal". After inspection of the BPF stamp, they just went away muttering. The lemon yellow color and the pop make it like cops on a yellow Lamborghini!

Cons: Its a lot of money and these bats do not have a very long life. My experience with these high end Easton composites it that they begin to lose pop after 3-4 seasons ((or two years here in the South).

Pros: This bat is just incredible. My 11 yo son had been using a 29/21 -8 xl1 with great success. just bought this to break in for 12u season. this is the bat to own - only if your son has the strength. it is a sledgehammer like many have said before, but the distance added is very noticeable. the difference in sound compared to the -8 is noticeable too. it is very dull and almost wood-like. don't let the sound fool you...this bat is legit.

A good way to break in a composite barrel bat like the 2014 Easton XL1 (SL14X15) Senior League is to hit off a tee or soft toss approximately 100-200 swings, rotating the barrel ¼ inch every swing. The length of time this takes is dependent on how much you are willing to work on it. In general, it can be accomplished over the course of a weekend.

Based on your height and weight right now, I would recommend a 31" model in the 2014 Easton XL1 (SL14X15). However, if you wanted the bat to last a couple years, it might be best to go to a 32".
Justin R.
I am 4 foot 9 inches tall. What size should a get? JT

I'm about to be a 8th grader this year and I want a bat to last me til high school. I am 5"10 and 195 lbs., should I get -3 and a 32 in. or 33 in.? clayton
Based on the information you just gave me I would recommend a 33" size bat. Unfortunately, the Easton XL1 (SL14X15) does not come in a 33".
Zach
Is there a difference between this model and the old white one? jm078
The white XL1 model you're referring to is likely the 2012 model. Between the 2012 and 2013 models, Easton added the stiffer SIC Black Carbon composite handle which improves energy transfer on contact. This 2014 Easton XL1 (SL14X15) Senior League bat also features the IMX Composite barrel and SIC Black Carbon composite handle like the 2013 version. Aside from that material difference, the bats will offer very comparable designs and swing weights.

I'm in 7th grade and about 5'3" and about 100 lbs. I currently have the 32" -8 of this bat but it is getting to light. I want a bat for the rest of this year and all of next year. What would be the best bat for me? daterater
We recommend the 2014 Easton XL1 (SL14X15) if you have had success with the 2014 Easton XL1 (SL14X18).
Kara
Please break down for me the exact differences between the Easton SL14X35 and the Easton SL14X15. I understand the material differences ..... simply put, which bat has more power? Will they be exactly the same with just a difference in feel and sound? John
The Easton XL3 (SL14X35) is a one-piece alloy bat whereas the Easton XL1 (SL14X15) is a two-piece full composite. The SL14X35 will have less flex going through the hitting zone and this stiffer feel is generally preferred by power hitters. The SL15X15's two-piece design will allow it to flex more than the SL14X35 which is a swing style that contact hitters seem to prefer more. Both bats should perform very similarly as far as pop goes.

Will there be a 32" -5 bat anytime soon? huck
We are expecting more 32' models of the 2014 Easton XL1 (SL14X15) Senior League. Unfortunately, we do not have a firm date for when that will be. Typically out of stock items take 2-4 weeks before they are back in stock.
Jason
What size should I get? I am in 7th grade, 6' and 160 lbs? BIG-E
Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 32" model in the 2014 Easton XL1 (SL14X15) Senior League.
Jason
Is this bat approved for Babe Ruth play? EddieR
No. The 2014 Easton XL1 (SL14X15) would not be approved for Babe Ruth play. The models of the XL1 that would be approved would be the 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR (BB14X1) for the 13-15 year old and 16-18 year old age division and the 2014 Easton XL1 (YB14X1) for the Cal Ripken division (6-12 years old).
Patrick
I am 5' 81 lbs and I play in USSSA league. I am looking for a bat out of the power brigade series. Which would you recommend? Cycler
If your game is more representative of a contact hitter I would probably suggest taking a closer look at the 2014 Easton XL1: (YB14X1). The two-piece composite design will create a little bit more flex, and this material will heat up over time. The 2014 Easton XL3: (YB14X3) will work great if you are a power hitter. The one-piece alloy design will provide a stiffer feel, and the THT100 Scandium Alloy used will provide great pop. Ultimately, it will depend on what type of game you have that will determine which model is best suited for you.
Merritt
Does it last long? brock
2014 Easton XL1 (SL14X15) is a durable bat. However, if something were too happen to the bat it is covered by a full 12 month manufacturer's warranty.
Bobby
If I'm using a -8 XL1 right now, should I switch to a -5 if I'm going to 8th grade next season? z
Going from a -8 to a -5 would be our recommended transition. If your league does not require 8th Grade players to us a BBCOR -3 already, using the -5 next season would ensure that the transition to a BBCOR model would be as gradual as possible. We would recommend going to the -5 prior to a BBCOR bat if possible, so that you are not increasing the weight of the bat 5 ounces in one season. Many players can make that jump, but it wouldn't be our recommendation to go from a -8 to a -3 in one year.
Mac
How do you know if this bat is dead? b
You can tell if your 2014 Easton XL1 (SL14X15) is dead if you see a steep drop in the performance off the bat. If you believe that to be the case you can send it back to Easton for a warranty replacement.
Bobby
Is it this bat end loaded? Joe
Yes, the 2014 Easton XL1 (SL14X15) Senior League is end loaded.
Tessa L.
I am 5 foot 1 and weigh 160 pounds. What would you suggest? Rock Solid Baseball
Based on your height and weight we would suggest the 32 inch size of the 2014 Easton XL1 (SL14X15).
Patrick
I know the ball jumps off of the XL1 -5. Does the -8 have similar pop? Jay
Yes, the pop on the -8 will be very similar to 2014 Easton XL1 (SL14X15).
Justin R.
how many hits on average does it take to break in titan2
The 2014 Easton XL1 (SL14X15) should take between 150-200 swings of soft toss or tee work before it reaches its full performance potential. It is important to remember to rotate the barrel while doing this to ensure and even break-in.
Patrick
Does the -5 XL1 have similar pop to the -8? Which would you recommend for me? I am 5 foot 5 and weigh 140 pounds. The Meister
The -5 2014 Easton XL1 (SL14X15) would have more power capability if you swing it the same speed as the -8 due to the added weight. If you can swing it, I would go with the -5.
Patrick
What is the difference between the Easton XL1 SL14X15 and the SL14X18? joshua
The difference in the 2014 Easton XL1 (SL14X15 Senior League) and the SL14X18 will be the size. The SL14X15 will be a -5. The SL14X18 will be a -8 model.
Brandon
Are all easton xl1 big barrels extended or are there also shorter lengthen big barrels? billy
The 2014 Easton XL1 (SL12X15) Senior League bats all have extended barrels.
Damon
Does the Easton XL1 -8 have a larger barrel than the Easton XL1 -5? Silver Slugger
The 2014 Easton XL1 (SL14X15 Senior League) and the -8 version will have the same barrel length if they are the same overall length. A longer bat will have a longer barrel.
Brandon
My son is 12 years old, 5'11, 145 lbs. He is a power hitter. The problem is bat weight. He is used to hitting with an 18oz Little League bat. What weight should I go up to with as little problem as possible? His summer league uses 2 5/8 barrel with no weight restriction. He likes Easton bats. Is there another model we should look at? RobFrat
The 2014 Easton XL1 (SL14X15 Senior League) would be a good option to look at because it is a bat directed for power hitters. As for size, someone his size would be able to swing a pretty big bat. I think he would be able to swing anywhere from a 23 oz. to a 25 oz.
Cooper
I am 4'6" and 190 lbs. What size should I use? cumpo
A 31" bat length in the 2014 Easton XL1 (SL14X15 Senior League) would be recommended at your size.
Brandon
I am 5'1" 96 lbs, and I use a 30/21 in the MAKO. However, next year I have to use -5 or -3, and I like this bat, but I'm not sure what size. tj roman
Based on your approximate height and weight, I would suggest a 31/26 in the 2014 Easton XL1: (SL14X15).
Merritt
What is the difference between XL1 and XL3 bats? pepe0126
The Easton XL1 (SL14X15) is a two-piece full composite design. The Easton XL3 (SL14X39) is a one-piece all alloy design. The XL3 will be game ready right out of the wrapper while the XL1 will require a break-in period. We recommend around 150 swings off the tee or soft toss. Make sure you rotate the barrel a quarter of an inch every 15-20 swings to fully break-in the composite fibers.
John
I'm on a 7th grade only All Star Babe Ruth district team. I'm wondering is this bat legal? baseball kid
No, the 2014 Easton XL1 Senior League (SL14X15) will not be approved for play in Babe Ruth. Babe Ruth requires composite barrel bats to be BBCOR certified so this would not be allowed. You will have to use an alloy barrel in a senior league model or bump up to a -3 BBCOR bat for composite.
John
I am 5 foot 3 and weigh 130 pounds. What size should I get? Paul
Based on your height and weight, we would suggest the 31 inch size of the 2014 Easton XL1 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14X15).
Patrick
When will the new model come out? BIG-E
The 2014 Easton XL1 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14X15) is currently out. The 2015 model will be released around 9/1/2014.
Brandon
How come I cannot find many Easton XL1 32 inch (-5) anywhere lately? Many of my friends have that bat and it is wonderful. I just cannot seem to find it. graham arndt
The 2014 Easton XL1 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14X15) has been discontinued in production in order to move on to the 2015 model that will be released in September. For that reason, many companies have limited sizing available just based on what they have left in their inventory.
Patrick
Is this bat more end loaded than the 2014 -5 Voodoo Paradox? JROD
The 2014 Easton XL1 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14X15) will have the same end loaded feel as the DeMarini Voodoo. Both models are slightly end loaded.
Kelby
Will the 2015 MAKO Torq -5 have as much pop as this 2014 XL1 -5? ryslice
Yes, the 2015 Easton MAKO Torq will have a similar amount of pop compared to the 2014 Easton XL1 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14X15).
Sean
If I buy this bat now should I break it in now or wait until spring? kunks
You could break in the 2014 Easton XL1 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14X15) at either time. Once the material is broken in, it wouldn't harm the product to sit unused.
Patrick
Is this bat legal for high school ball? Nick
The 2014 Easton XL1 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14X15) would not be legal for sanctioned high school play. Bats used in high school have to have BBCOR certification and this bat would not meet that requirement.
Patrick
Will the 2015 XL1 be legal for high school team play? the smerg
The 2014 Easton XL1 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14X15) will not be legal for high school play. The XL1 Senior League features the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp, only BBCOR certified bats are legal for high school.
Jason
Will you get any 32's soon? liam
The 2014 Easton XL1 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14X15) has been discontinued, so we will not be getting anymore 32" models. The 2015 XL1 -5 is expected to be released in October though.
Jason
Can this bat be overused to the point where it loses some of its "pop"? My son has been using this bat for 11 months solid. A few other kids on his travel team also use it, so it has gotten plenty of use. The problem is that it seems like it is losing some of its "pop". It doesn't sound broken and I do not see any noticeable cracks, breaks or dents. I don't think it is the winter weather. We are in Northern California and the weather has been great all January. Could it be defective or could it be towards the end of its effective life? Big Hitter
If there has been a significant drop in performance on the Easton XL1 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14X15) it may be an indication that something may be wrong with one of the internal layers of composite material. The best way to be sure is to check with the manufacturer and have them test the bat to see if it is covered under the warranty.
Patrick
Is the 2013 XL1 and this bat ( 2014 XL1 ) the same bat but with different paint job? Dan
They are very close to the same construction, yes. I believe there were some attempts to improve the end cap design between the two, but more or less it was a cosmetic change from year to year.
