Description

Put some more spring in your swing this season with the new Louisville Slugger LXT! Re-engineered from the breakthrough Xeno bat, the LXT is designed to provide more pop and an even better feel when you swing! It is truly the ultimate combination of speed, power, and balance in fastpitch. The LXT features a revolutionary three-piece design within the taper that is called TRU-3 Technology. This revolutionary new transition technology strengthens the link between the barrel and handle to give the LXT a trampoline spring and dramatically reduced vibration on contact. This straighter, thicker rubber ring results in a bat that is not only sturdier, but feels better with every swing. Vibration from mishits are absorbed before they reach the player's hands, allowing players to be more consistent with their hitting. Like the Xeno, the LXT features S1iD Technology for a flexible, more forgiving barrel, a larger sweet spot, and a cleaner sounding pop with every hit. Made from Louisville Slugger's thinner, high-strength, and lightweight composite, the LXT is ready to take the fastpitch softball world by storm! Louisville Slugger: Leave Your Mark! The LXT is approved for play in ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA, and ISF. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Solid Feel, Great Pop! Coach AJ coach

Pros: My 13 yr old has the -9 (2 months now), loves the pop, great solid feel, absorbs miss hits and nice graphics too! She has gained more distance & extra base hits are up as confidence has gone up. Just hit a walk off double in a Texas tie break this past weekend to help her team get to the championship game! The textured barrel also seems to help lay down bunts as well. Nice job Louisville Slugger!

Cons: None.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Louisville Slugger LXT -9 Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPLX159? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

What changed over the 2014 model? steve
Louisville Slugger has improved the composite blend between the 2014 and 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX159). The new Performance Composite is lighter and more durable than the Pure 360 Composite in the 2014 model.
Mac
What does the -9 represent in the bat? Is there a big difference in -9 to -10? Lois
The -9 is a representation of the weight that is offered in the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat: (FPLX159). The bigger the drop, or length to weight ratio (-9)(-10) etc. the lighter the bat will be. Therefore, there will not be too much of a difference between a -9, and -10. The weight difference will approximately be one ounce. If you would like to calculate the drop, all you need to do is take the length (inches) and subtract the weight (ounces). Therefore a 30", 20 oz bat would have a drop of 10, and will be very light.

My daughter is 12 years old and is 5 foot tall and weighs 105 pounds. What size bat would she need in length and ounces? softballmom17
Based on her height and weight, we would suggest a 31 inch bat. The weight would vary based on the player. Based on her age the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX159) may be a bit too heavy. You may want to go with a lighter version of the bat like the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150).

Hi, I have used this bat for 3 games and the end cap is coming loose. Compared with the 2015 LXT bat it makes a completely different noise when dropped on the ground after a hit. I bought the bat in May 2014, and started using it in October 2014. Is this covered by a manufacturer warranty? Please help. tina moffat

My daughter is 5'5 and 130 pounds. What is the recommended bat size? Rocky
Based on her height and weight, we recommend a 33" 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX159). For more information on sizing, check out our Bat Coach: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/

My niece will be turning 12 next month. She is 5'4" and 105 lbs. She was using a DeMarini CF5 & CF6 Hope 31" 21 oz. for the past 3 years. She is moving up to 12U ball this year. She is needing a bigger bat. My question is should I get her a 32" 22 oz. or a 32" 23 oz. 2014 LXT or 2015 LXT? Softball Uncle
The 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX150) in a 32" 22 oz. is what I would recommend as opposed to the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX159). The -10 LXT will have a longer barrel and the 1 oz. difference will give your daughter the potential for better bat speed. Louisville Slugger improved the composite blend in the 2015 models that makes it lighter and more durable than the Pure 360 Composite in the 2014 model.

My 14 year old daughter is 5'4" and 130-140 lbs. She is telling me that she needs a heavier bat for school fastpitch ball. She's using a 32" right now but I'm not sure of the drop (think it's a -11). She wants the LXT with -9. What drop and length do you recommend for her based on her size, weight, and concerns? Dawn
The recommended size for her 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat: (FPLX159) would be the 32" size. The -10 2015 Louisville Slugger XENO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN150 would also be a great option in the 32/22 size.
Brandon
My daughter is 11yrs old. She is 5'3" and 135lbs. What size bat in the LXT should I get for her? LOS
We would recommend a 32" 22 oz. for a player with her height and weight. The 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch (FPLX159) will be slightly heavy for her. I would recommend going with the -10 drop in the LXT. The model number for the LXT in the -10 drop is FPLX150.
John
What is the difference between the FPLX150 & FPLX159? LOS
The difference between the (FPLX150) and the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX159) is the sizing. One is a -10 size. The other is a -9 in length to weight.
Brandon
Is this bat made in a 33" 20 oz. model? Chris
Unfortunately, the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX159) is manufactured only in a drop 8, drop 9 and drop 10 model. There is no drop 13 model made.
Joe
Does this bat perform well in cold weather? leighla
We would not recommend using the 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX159) in temperatures below 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Colder temperatures will make the materials that compose the softball much more dense. Since the bat is not designed to hit objects of this density, it is far more likely to be damaged.
Joe
Can you play with the new 2015 LXT right out of the box? bubba
The 2015 Louisville Slugger LXT Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPLX159) will be hot right out of the wrapper. We would recommend a break-in period of around 100 swings to see the full performance of the bat.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
