Too much vibration for me KKlene player

Pros: The bat looks great and I thought the composite end was a cool feature

Cons: The bat swings really light, but on the field I feel like I lost power because there isn't enough power to drive through the ball. In addition, the sweet spot seems really small, so many hits had vibration and just didn't feel good through contact.

Baseball Rookie Scott parent

Pros: Every thing you would exspect this bat to do, and thats make the ball fly off the bat. Its absolutely beautiful. Seen with my own eyes what power this bat has in the right hands of a baseball player. Dingers! The ball just flys off this bat!

Cons: None so far!

Parent parent parent

Pros: Great bat for the price. My son needed -3 bat for middle school. He normally swings 31 drop 8 for his club team. We went an inch shorter to help with bat speed and all the extra weight. The bat is still pretty new but has worked out great. Thirty inch BBCOR bats are hard to find but this bat helped solved the problem of my son having to swing a bat weight that is too heavy for him.

Cons: none so far

Get a different bat. Tyler Craig player

Pros: None except it is fairly cheap.

Cons: This bat isn't good. I got it not to long ago and I hate it. I liked it for a week, then the ping, the feel, the vibration, everything just drove me crazy. It started chipping and losing pop after like 4 days. The older rawlings are the way to go. Like the 2012 5150. I liked the bat until I got my 2015 Voodoo. The Voodoo really shows you either how bad of a bat this is, or how amazing of a bat the Voodoo is. Maybe a little bit of both. Compared to the voodoo this thing lacks in pop, feel, sound, durability, etc. The Voodoo is a far superior bat in everyday. Rawlings has gone downhill ever since the 2013 5150. Get the Voodoo, best bat out there right now, or a New Louisville slugger or even a cat 6. If you buy this, than swing one of those, you will be very disappointed in your choice.

Get the 915 Prime. Max Jacobs player

Pros: The only thing good about it, I'm sure it will go wrong though, is the durability.

Cons: This bat vibrates to much, makes an atrocious noise, doesn't have much pop, and feels like your hitting a truck with the way it vibrates. It is far to balanced, sure the MOI is low but that doesn't in anyway lead to power. A perfect amount of end load with balance makes power. A bat that has some weight in the barrel with speed will make the ball go the farthest. This bat doesn't have that. It feels like you are swinging a bam bam bat. Its too light. If you want a good balanced bat, get the 915 Prime. Extraordinary bat with a perfect balance. Massive Sweet Spot, No vibration, and a ton of power. If you are stronger, get the New Voodoo, or if you like composite get the XL1. Just do not get this. This thing is awful.

Great Bat Dad parent

Pros: Rawlings has come out with a great line up of bats this year. This bat has alot of pop and balance. Much more than easton. The 5150 or velo are a great buy. And the price is right.

Cons: When your son sees this bat in action. He will want one.

Great Bat Baty coach

Pros: After watching my players use the bat, and them talking about it, I would have to say that it is one of the best bats on the market. They tell me all the time that it has the best feel of any BBCOR that they have used. The balance and pop is what they talk about the most.

Cons: All I have heard from the players is that it has vibrations if you hit it wrong, but that is the case with any bat. I don't know why people wouldn't like it.

Pros: This bat is good it has good pop and good looks you would definitely want one.

Cons: Its too expensive and its just the same as the 2013,2014 5150 only difference is the end cap which is made out of composite. Rather get the old ones its nice yet affordable. ??

Great Bat! Nebb18 player

Pros: I previously used a 32, and I'm only 5 feet tall. I was recommended a 30 inch -3 but I really couldn't find any. I ended up buying this one and I really enjoy swinging this bat. It has great pop and has a very balanced feel when swung. I would definitely recommend this bat to anyone who is looking for a -3.

Cons: Major vibration when swinging at outside pitches.

Uncle Rico player

Pros: This bat has the same great pop as previous models. The grip is nicer than most. Same great balanced feel.

Cons: This is the same bat as all previous 5150's. It's the same 1 piece 5150 alloy bat as the 2014,13,12.... The only addition is the composite endcap and I dont see how this justifies the higher price point than previous models. Get the 2012 model for $80-100 instead of paying $200 for the same bat in this model

Cons: If you hit it of the end or get jammed it vibrats a ton. The knob is really small making your hand feel like it will slide off.

Best Available For Price baseballer player

Pros: Nice bat, good pop. Pretty big sweet spot. Weight distribution is pretty even. If you hit it square, the ball will jump off the bat.

Cons: VERY loud. You'll definitely feel it in your hands if you hit the ball off the end of the bat.

The 2015 Rawlings 5150 Baseball Bat BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) is more balanced than previous 5150 models because of the addition of the Comp-Lite end cap. However, the VELO is still a more balanced bat.
Jason
Does this model 5150 or the 2014 Velo have a larger sweet spot or are they the same? ryno
The 2015 Rawlings 5150 (BB5150) will have the same size sweet spot as the 2014 Rawlings Velo. The Velo will be slightly more balanced than the 5150, other than the difference in swing weight the 5150 and Velo will be very similar.

Is this bat better for power or contact hitters? d
The 2015 Rawlings 5150 Baseball Bat BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) could be used by both a power hitter or a contact hitter. The balanced swing weight would be good for a contact hitter and the stiff flex and durability are great for power hitters.
Patrick
Which would you recommend for a contact hitter looking to increase power, this bat or the Louisville Slugger Select 715? John
The 2015 Rawlings 5150 Baseball Bat BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) features a one-piece design, whereas the Louisville Slugger Select 715 features a two-piece design. If you are a contact hitter looking to increase power, the 5150 may be the better option or you. The one-piece design will provide a stiffer feel on contact and is generally preferred by power hitters. The balanced swing weight will make it easier to work on bat speed as well as bat control.
Tessa
Which bat has more pop: this, the Easton S3Z ZCORE, or the Mizuno Generation? slugger
The 2015 Rawlings 5150 Baseball Bat BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150), the S3Z, and the Generation will all have the same pop, since all three models are tested against the same BBCOR performance standards.
Tessa
Does the 2015 5150 sound the same as the VELO? Does the bat have bad vibration? a.t
The 2015 Rawlings 5150 Baseball Bat BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) has the same Comp-Lite end cap and is made out of the same 5150 alloy that the VELO is made out of. Both bats have the same sound as a result of being made out of the same materials. All bats can have vibration, especially when it is a one-piece, but the vibration is no worse on the 5150 than any other bat. If you hit the ball on the barrel, you will not experience any vibration.
Jason
Is there a difference between this bat and the 2014 Rawlings VELO? Which would you recommend? Tim
Both the 2014 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: (BBV3) and 2015 Rawlings 5150 Baseball Bat BBCOR Baseball Bat: (BB5150) will incorporate a one-piece, balanced design. The models will also incorporate the same 5150 Alloy material into the barrel. Therefore, the biggest difference will be the cosmetic design of the barrel. Both models will be able to produce a high performance level instantaneously.
Merritt
What bat would you prefer: he VELO or the 5150? I'm trying to decide between the two and I want a pro opinion. For wood bats I use a Baum bat. Are there any metal BBCOR bats that are balanced and weighted like a Baum bat? Nickspili
The 2015 Rawlings 5150 Baseball Bat BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) and the VELO are both excellent options and are both very balanced bats. However, the VELO is one of the most balanced and lightest swinging BBCOR bats on the market. It is hard to compare a wood bat to an alloy bat, but the VELO will swing similarly to a Baum bat. They are both extremely balanced.
Jason
What is the difference between 2015 Rawlings 5150 Baseball Bat BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) and the 2014 model? Dom
The only difference between the 2015 Rawlings 5150 Baseball Bat BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) and the 2014 model are cosmetic.
Liz
What are the main similarities between this bat and the CAT6? Also, how similar is this 5150 to last year's? Jimbone
The Marucci CAT6 BBCOR and the 2015 Rawlings 5150 Baseball Bat BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) are both one-piece fully alloy designs. They are both balanced and will not feel too barrel heavy. The new 5150 BBCOR is very similar to last year's in swing weight, durability, and performance.
Brandon
What is the difference between this years model and the 2014 black 5150? cal
The 2015 Rawlings 5150 Baseball Bat BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) now features the Comp-Lite end cap for increased balance. Otherwise, the bat has the same design.
Jason
What are the differences between the 2014 VELO, the 2015 5150, and 2014 5150? Which one would be better for a 3 and 5 hole hitter with very quick hands? jon
The 2014 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB513) and the 2015 Rawlings 5150 Baseball Bat BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) will be very virtually identical other than updated graphics and the 2015 being a newer model. Both bats will be extremely well-balanced and feature the 5150 alloy. The 2014 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) will be very similar to the 5150 series. It does offer composite insets in the barrel as well as a composite end-cap for advanced performance. In terms of performance all three bats will be very similar. All three will be well-balanced and feature a light swing-weight. Typically, we recommend a two-piece balanced bat for a gap hitter, however, for a player hitting 3rd or 5th, you could use a one-piece balanced model.
Joe
What is the difference between the 2015 Rawlings 5150 Baseball Bat BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) and the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB)? Which is better for a weaker contact hitter? er1
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) will be more balanced than the 2015 Rawlings 5150 Baseball Bat BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150). Both are good for a contact hitter, but the Velo will be more balanced.
Damon
Is the 2015 Rawlings 5150 better for a contact hitter? Or is the Louisville Slugger 915 better for contact hitting? Jmoney6
Both the Slugger 915 BBCOR and the 2015 Rawlings 5150 Baseball Bat BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) would be great for contact hitters. I have heard that the Louisville Slugger 915 BBCOR bat will feel more balanced. It will allow for faster bat speeds through the zone.
Brandon
Which bat is more balanced and will feel lighter? The Rawlings 5150 BBCOR BB5150 or the Rawlings Plasma BBCOR BBCPL3? AD
Both the 2015 Rawlings 5150 Baseball Bat BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) and the Rawlings Plasma BBCOR (BBCPL3) will be very balanced bats. I wouldn't say one is lighter than the other.
Frankie
I am a power hitter. What would be better for me, the Rawlings 5150 or the Marucci Cat 6? BaseballKing540
The 2015 Rawlings 5150 Baseball Bat BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) and the 2015 Marucci CAT 6 BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBC614) both feature a one-piece full alloy design with a balanced swing weight. In terms of performance, they will be very similar. The 5150 is possibly more balanced than the Cat 6, but typically for power hitters, we would actually recommend a one-piece end-loaded model such as the RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR Baseball Bat (B1403)
Joe
I am looking to be a contact hitter. Which would be better, the 2015 Rawlings 5150 or the new Louisville Slugger Omaha 515? calbaseball
The 2015 Rawlings 5150 Baseball Bat BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) will feature a single piece full alloy model with a balanced swing weight. The Omaha will feature an identical design. In terms of performance, they will be very similar. Typically, we would actually recommend a two-piece model for contact hitter such as the 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBS7153).
Joe
What is the difference between the 2015 5150 and the 2014 model? pete
The 2015 Rawlings 5150 Baseball Bat BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) is more balanced in its construction than the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB513). The new 5150 is closer to the balance of the VELO model than the previous models were in terms of balance.
Patrick
What is the difference between the 2015 5150 and the 2014 VELO? How does the sweet spot compare? joe
The 2015 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) is closer to the design of the VELO than ever before with the addition of the Comp-Lite end cap. However, there are still some difference between the bats. The VELO is still a more balanced option because of its design. The VELO has a longer taper and a larger sweet spot. The longer taper gives the bat a more balanced swing weight.
Jason
Is it end loaded? justin
No, the 2015 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) features a balanced swing weight.
Tessa
Is there anything wrong with using this bat in 40 degree weather? Harold12
While the 2015 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) has a very durable alloy, we do not recommend using it in temperatures lower than 55 degrees on a regular basis. The baseball becomes much denser and harder at colder temperatures and the barrels on bats are not designed to hit the harder baseball.
Jake
Which bat has more pop, this or the 2015 Easton S3Z ZCORE Baseball Bat (BB15S3Z)? Hi
Both the 2015 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) and the 2015 Easton S3Z ZCORE Baseball Bat (BB15S3Z) are under the BBCOR .50 BPF restrictions so they will have very similar "pop" and performance. The Easton S3Z does have a larger, extended barrel than than Rawlings 5150.
Tom
Why is the 2015 5150 bat $100 cheaper than the 2015 Rawlings VELO? It appears to be made of the same alloy, composite end cap, and the POP technology. Diamondwizardsdad15
The 2015 Rawlings Velo BBCOR (BBRVB) is going to be more balanced than the 2015 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150). Rawlings put more of the weight in the handle of the VELO to create a lighter swing weight compared to the 5150.
Tom
Which is a better overall bat this, or a Cat 6? LWBaseball
Both the 2015 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) and the 2015 Marucci CAT 6 BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBC614) are nice options. They compare very similarly in terms of design and performance. Preference between the two would come down to style and brand preference ultimately.
Patrick

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
