Jim parent

Pros: Huge Barrel. Decent Pop

Cons: Annoying loud even for an alloy. My son was in love with his old XL3 thus the reason for this purchase. This bat is just L-O-U-D and stings like crazy While swinging this weekend at a tournament, he hit it about 2 inches from the end and the end cap just shattered. Sending it back. Less than 4 months old.

Pros: My 12 year old hit 15 home runs in a opening day home run derby this weekend. The second place winer had 4. Bat has big pop and sounds good to.

Cons: My son had a 2015 XL3 and it lost it's pop after 1/2 a season. I hope he can get at least 1 whole season out of this one.

Longevity is poor... LL Coach/Parent coach

Pros: Pop off of the bat is great when new...this year's model lost its' pop way too soon....

Cons: Replaced a 2015 XL3 that was used 1 season....It appeared to have lost its' pop. Purchased a 2016 XL3 early season...Son claims it changed tones mid practice over weekend and didn't seem to have the pop....purchased another XL3 as a back up as we are going into LL district play. Wasn't time to shop and compare let alone change bats when he is hitting good (psychological factor). Haven't had luck with composites either as they crack where the handle and barrel are bonded.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat: YB16X311? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Does it dent easily? Swb
For this 2016 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB16X311), we have not heard a lot of comments yet in regard to durability. However, the 2015 model of this bat was pretty well liked in regard to durability and it featured the same material. Some customers commented on lower durability on the 2015 model, but with every bat there will be some options that dent/crack for many different reasons. If your bat is under the 12 month manufacturer warranty period, you'll be covered by the manufacturer for a free replacement.
Ben
There are no reviews on this bat, when did it release? Also, I'm looking for a bat that doesn't dent or crack and has great amount of pop. Is this a bat that has these traits? Cjb
The 2016 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat: YB16X311 was released on 8/15/2015. The lack of reviews is typically associated with customers seeking previous year's models to take advantage of the price discounts on these closeout bats. With that said, there is not going to be an alloy bat (denting) or composite (cracking) that will not become defective at some point in time. Due to the amount of games, practices and other events players attend these days it is very common for a bat to have to undergo the warranty that is associated with it; especially if used in colder weather (under 70 degrees). As for the bat that will give you the most pop, in an ideal world it would be a one-piece design with an end-loaded swing weight (alloy or composite doesn't really matter). The 2016 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat: YB16X311 will feature an end-loaded swing weight with a one-piece alloy construction. This bat could potentially be a great option for someone looking to add a little extra power to their game.
Cameron
My son is 8 years old and 62 pounds. Is the 29" XL3 going to be too heavy? H
Here at JustBats, we base our recommendations for the length of a bat on a player's height and weight. You said that you son is 62 pounds but how tall is he? Once we have that information we would better be able to answer what length of the 2016 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat: YB16X311 we would recommend.
John P.
My grandson is 10 years old, weighs 80 pounds and is 4' 10" tall. What weight and length bat should I buy for him? He has been swinging a bat since he was 2 years old.He is comfortable swinging a bat. Thanks Zeke
Based on your grandson's height and weight, I would recommend that your grandson swing a 30" bat. As for the weight, I would say that is more dependent on his current bat weight. If his bat speed is fast with that weight, he could afford to go up in weight a little bit. If his bat speed lags with his current weight, then I recommend maybe going down a little bit in weight or staying the same.
Nick
Is this the same XL3 as last year but with a new updated color? Grandpa Steve
The 2016 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat: YB16X311 and the 2015 XL3 are the same bats other than color and the new HYPERSKIN grip tape. They are both made out of Hyperlite Matrix Alloy.
Jason
I have a 12 year old son. He is 5'1" and weighs 120 pounds. Will a 31 inch 2016 Easton Mako work? dan
Yes, for your son's height and weight we recommend a 31" length bat.
Angelique
What is the drop for your 31"? luke
The 2016 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat: YB16X311 features a -11 length to weight ratio so the 31" length will weigh 20 ounces.
John P.
Is it Little League approved? He is 4'6", weighs 68 lbs, and is 11. What would be best length and oz? michael
Yes, the 2016 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat: YB16X311 is approved for all Little League division except Senior and Big League. Based on his height and weight, we suggest a 29" 18 oz model.
Jason
What is the difference between the XL3 and the S3 bats? Jeff
This 2016 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB16X311) and the S3 will both be single-piece, all-alloy bats. The difference that will exist between the two bats is that this XL3 will be end-loaded while the S3 will have more of a balanced swing weight.
Ben
My son is 4'7" and weighs 102 lbs. What size bat would be good for him? billy
Based on your son's height and weight I would recommend a 30" 2016 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB16X311)
Jake
Does Easton provide a 2016 XL3 Youth bat that is NOT end loaded? Chris Clarke
The non end loaded version of the XL3 would be considered the 2016 Easton S3 Youth Baseball Bat: YB16S313. Here is a link to that bat: http://www.justbats.com/product/2016-easton-s3-youth-baseball-bat--yb16s313/22935/
Jason
My son is 9 years old, weighs about 60 lbs and is 4'5" in height. What size should I get him? Jaden
Based upon your player's height and weight, I would make a general recommendation of getting this 2016 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB16X311) in the 29" length. As long as your player can handle the end-loaded 18 oz weight of the 29" model, I think that size option of this bat should work well.
Ben
My son is 5'4" and 175 lbs. What size bat should I get for him? jena
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2016 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat: YB16X311 in a 32 inch model.
Cameron
My son is 4'11" and weighs 95 lbs. He is 11. What bat do you recommend? Misky
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting a 30 inch bat. As for the weight, this is usually determined by factoring in the current bat being used and its weight; if player is not having issues getting the barrel head through the zone then a 1 ounce, possibly 2 ounce increase, would not be a bad route to go. As for the correct bat to get, most players prefer a balanced bat as these bats are better suited for contact hitters. For those hitters that are more of the power variety then an end-loaded bat, like the 2016 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat: YB16X311, would be a great option to consider. With an end-loaded bat, there is essentially a smaller sweet spot with more mass meaning one could generate more whip and power when the ball is squared up properly.
Cameron
My son is 5'1" and weighs about 127 lbs. He is 10 what length and weight should I get him? Sheri
Based upon your son's height and weight, I would recommend using a 31" 2016 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat: YB16X311.
John P.
Do you know any other better bat on the market than the 2016 XL3? He is 5'1" and 127 lbs. Sheri
There are many good bats to consider for someone of your son's height and weight and based off it, we would recommend the 2016 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat: YB16X311 in a 31 inch 20 ounce model.
Cameron
hello, my son is 4'6" and weighs 63 pounds. He is 9 years old... is this bat a good choice for him and if so which size would you recomend? LukeTheDuke
The 2016 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat: YB16X311 features a one piece, fully alloy construction and an end loaded swing weight, so it would be a great option for a power hitter. As for the sizing, I would recommend a 30" length for him based on the listed height and weight.
Nick
My son is 4'9" and 100 lbs. He is 11 years old. Would this be better than the Easton MAKO TORQ? What bat would you recommend for him? Veron
Based upon your height and weight, we would make a general recommendation of going with a 30" option of a Youth baseball bat. This 2016 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB16X311) comes with a one-piece/all-alloy design, end-loaded swing weight and -11 length-to-weight ratio. The TORQ will differ as it has a two-piece/all-composite design, more balanced swing weight and -10 length-to-weight ratio. As well, the TORQ features the 360 degree rotating handle technology. My recommendation would be to get this XL3 model unless you specifically have used a TORQ model in the past or had a specific interest in that bat.
Ben
Which has the bigger sweet spot: XL3 or the S3? marco
I would say that this 2016 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB16X311) will have a longer barrel length than the S3. Due to that longer barrel length, I would say this XL3 will also have a bigger sweet spot.
Ben
My son is 4'7" and about 85 pounds. How long should his bat be and is the XL3 a good choice? Callum
Based upon your player's height and weight, I would recommend getting this 2016 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB16X311) in the 29" length. As long as you feel your player can handle the end-loaded, 18 oz weight of the 29" option of this bat, I would recommend that size option of this bat.
Ben
Is this a composite bat? D
This 2016 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB16X311) is made of HMX alloy material from Easton. Therefore, it will not be a composite bat.
Ben
What is the difference between the 2016 XL3 and the 2016 S2? Erin
The 2016 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat: YB16X311 is a one-piece alloy bat that is end loaded (end heavy). The 2016 Easton S2 is a two-piece hybrid bat (alloy barrel / composite handle) that is well-balanced (evenly weighted).
Marcus
What type of hitter would this bat be for? Power hitter or contact keith
Either type of hitter could use this bat. But with its one piece design and end loaded swing weight the 2016 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB16X311) is going to be more of a power hitters bat.
Carter
I was wondering if the XL3 would be a good bat? Will it be long lasting? ryan zaft
This 2016 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB16X311) is a solid option of bat if a player is looking for a one-piece, all-alloy bat with a bit of an end-loaded swing weight. This bat has the ability to last for multiple seasons if cared for properly. The bat definitely will not lose performance due to using it in the heat, but when the temperature gets below 55 degrees, be sure and limit the use to only games and only to your player.
Ben
How to know what size of bat needed for major little league and high school baseball? isa
All high school baseball players will have to use a BBCOR certified bat which will feature a drop -3 length to weight ratio. As for Little League players who are in Majors division, one would have to use a bat with a 2 1/4" barrel diameter. To see what size to get a player, we recommend using our bat coach feature: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Cameron

Based upon your player's height and weight, my general recommendation would be to get this 2016 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB16X311) in the 30" length as long as you feel that he can handle the subsequent 19 oz weight and end-loaded feel.
Ben
