Pros: I coach a 12U Tournament team & I have a several younger/smaller players. My daughter is one of those girls & I bought the 30"-17.5-oz bat for her. I have to say that the bat has great pop right out of the wrapper. I did have the other smaller girls start using this bat too. The light weight helped them to get the bat around faster which led to more hits. (Up the middle) The balls traveled faster & farther which built up their confidence. I know this bat is on several of their X-Mas lists. I cant wait until the bat is fully broken in. Great bat for the smaller players. I will be buying a few more for the teams equipment bag.

Cons: Non as of yet. If you use a pitching machine in practice do not use your composite bat. The dimpled balls wear them out really fast for some reason.

Good first composite bat Tim parent

Pros: I got this bat for my daughter as an upgrade to her aluminum bat. She loves the color and the pop is pretty noticeable over her old bat. She is small and this bat has served her well and swings very light. If you get it on sale it's a great price.

Cons: It lasted her about a year. She probably has about 5000 hits on it and it and it did pick up a little vibration and has lost quite a bit of pop. No big deal since it's time to move her up to a -11.

Questions and Answers

You sell both the 2014 and 2016 versions of this bat. I was curious what the differences are between them? coachInTraining
The 2016 Miken Halo Light Fastpitch Softball Bat (LTHALO) and the 2014 Miken Halo Light Fastpitch Softball Bat (FHAL12) will be very similar bats despite the difference in years. Both bats will be single-piece bats with a 100% composite construction. They will both be built to be ultralight in their feel. However, the 2016 model will be infused with Miken's 750X Technology to improve performance.

My daughter just moved up to u8. She has a strong swing but looking for a bat that will let the ball go farther than her aluminum bat and also last for a couple of years. I've been comparing this to the Mendoza and I can't decide. She's 7 years old about 4'1" and 55 pounds. Britt
The 2016 Miken Halo Light Fastpitch Softball Bat (LTHALO) would be a fantastic choice. It features a balanced swing weight, which is great for working on bat speed and bat control. Composite bat have the tendency to become more responsive over time, so it will have the longevity to last a couple seasons, if not more (with proper bat care). It is also covered under a 12 month manufacturer warranty with Miken so you can return it back for them for any warranty issues. Based on her height and weight, our Bat Coach recommends a 27" bat.
Tessa
I'm trying to find a great bat that won't sting the hands as bad. Is this bat the one? The other question would be: how long does it take to break this bat in? Ron
This 2016 Miken Halo Light Fastpitch Softball Bat (LTHALO) bat might have some vibration until it is broken in, and we would recommend at least 150 swings to get it broken in. Also, keep in mind, any bat will sting the hands if it isn't hit in the sweet spot.

What would be a good size and weight for a 10 year old who is 4 foot 9 and weighs 90 pounds? sally softball
Based on height and weight, we would recommend a 31 inch bat. The light weight of the 2016 Miken Halo Light Fastpitch Softball Bat (LTHALO) would be a good choice for that age.
Patrick
My daughter is 9 years old, 53 inches tall, and is currently swinging a 28 inch 17 ounce bat. She has had great results with it against slower rec. pitchers, but I feel it is a little short and with faster all-star pitchers coming her way. I am concerned that 17 may be a tad too heavy. This seems like the perfect alternative. Am I missing anything? Also, would it be harmful if she practiced with a 29 inch 17 ounce aluminum and used this bat in games? Joe
The only possible issue with going with a lighter bat like the 2016 Miken Halo Light Fastpitch Softball Bat (LTHALO) would be that you are reducing the mass of the bat so there would be less force acting on the ball. If the pitching is faster and she is able to swing it faster, this may make up for the smaller mass of the bat.
Patrick
I just ordered this bat for my 13 year old daughter. She is 4'7" and weighs 83lbs. I got her a 31 18.5oz. Is that good for her? Tanna
Yes, we would recommend a 31" for your daughter in the 2016 Miken Halo Light Fastpitch Softball Bat (LTHALO).
John
Is this a composite bat? BaseBall

Tessa
My daughter is 14 years old and 5 foot 7. We are looking to switch to a composite bat due to travel ball. The bat she uses now is 33 inches and the same length and weight as the Miken Halo. Would this be a good bat for her? Nickie
If the size of her current bat is working well for her, the 2016 Miken Halo Light Fastpitch Softball Bat (LTHALO) could work. However, at her age, most players will use a heavier -11 or -10 drop weight.
Patrick
Hi, my daughter is in high school and she is 16. Is this bat good for her and what size should I get her? She is 5' and 126 pounds. marcos
Based upon your daughter's height and weight, I would recommend using a 32" 2016 Miken Halo Light Fastpitch Softball Bat: LTHALO. This paricular 2016 Miken Halo Light is an excellent, high-quality fastpitch softball bat and would be a great choice for your player.
