Last year I swung the Izzy in a 30 ounce. I got it dialed in and fell in love with it. Won a couple home run derbies with it with ease. I just wanted to know the benefit of switching to a 27 ounce or so, besides bat speed? Turner
Bat speed would be the only major benefit of going down in weight on the 2016 Miken Izzy Psycho SuperMax USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (IZZY2M). Other than that, you would be taking mass out of the bat so you may get less power unless the bat speed increase is dramatic enough to make up for the lower weight.

I am considering buying a Miken and want a 2016 model. I play USSSA Slow Pitch. I am more of a hard contact hitter with occasional deep pop, but I usually don't hit the ball past 285 feet. I am 45 years old, standing 5 ft 6 inches and weigh about 185 pounds. I have average bat speed and a muscular frame. James
The 2016 Miken Izzy Psycho SuperMax USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (IZZY2M) has an end-loaded feel. End loaded bats seem to be preferred by power hitters. If you want a more balanced 2016 Miken as contact hitter, you might consider the 2016 Miken Psycho Balanced USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (SYCHBU)

The 2016 Miken Izzy Psycho SuperMax USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (IZZY2M) and the 2015 Izzy Psycho are the same bats. The only change that was made is the cosmetic appearance.

Since this is an USSSA bat, shouldn't it be designed to hit .40-.44 Core balls used in USSSA (apart from major)? Brandon had stated in an earlier answer that this bat is designed for the .52 Core ball, which is the ASA standard and isn't even allowed in the USSSA. So which is it? Adam
The 2016 Miken Izzy Psycho SuperMax USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (IZZY2M) being a USSSA softball bat is designed to hit the .40-.44 Core balls. While it can hit the .52/300 balls you will not see the performance off the barrel that you will see if you are hitting the proper USSSA softballs.

Unfortunately, there are not really any bats currently made specifically for that style of ball. Stiffer flex bats that are meant to hit fairly soft balls like the 2016 Miken Izzy Psycho SuperMax USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (IZZY2M) should be able to be used with success but would not technically be designed for that style.

I recently moved to a different state and most leagues here are ASA. Are USSSA bats typically allowed for ASA play or does it depend entirely on the rules of the particular league? dbb100
Generally your 2016 Miken Izzy Psycho SuperMax USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (IZZY2M) will not be allowed in ASA leagues and vice versa. With that being said there may be different rules for your particular league.

According to www.seniorsoftball.org, all bats used in ISSA play for all divisions must be official softball bats certified by the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) and/or certified BPF 1.21 or less (unless prior approval given by the tournament officials). Since the 2016 Miken Izzy Psycho SuperMax USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (IZZY2M) has a 1.20 BPF, it should be approved.
