Feels similar to old 5150 Bradley parent

Pros: Very balanced, very good swing speed, very good pop right out of the wrapper. My son has had several of the old white and red 5150s and has never found another bat that he really liked. His old bat flattened and he got this one. He has hit with it 3 times and really feels like he has found a new bat he can be happy with. We will see about the durability as I know that was an issue with his white one.

Cons: Vibration, which went away with his old one over time.

Replacement for 2015 Gene parent

Pros: Great pop right out the box. Moved up from 29/19 to 30/20 and it was effortless. Son is mashing this like last year's model. We love the annoying ping; let's the others know we've crushed it.

new 5150 Ryland's dad #52 coach

Pros: My 10 year old son plays travel baseball and he used this bat for the first time this past weekend. He hammered the ball every time. I did buy him a shock absorbing pad for the knob of the bat and also I made him wear his batting gloves to help eliminate any stinging from a mis hit. He is a good hitter and usually hits in the sweet spot so sting is minimal for him. But if your kid is only average I would suggest a composite bat to help with his hands hurting. This bat looks pretty cool too. Overall I'd say a good bat for $100 and I would recommend to a friend. Oh also my son broke a one piece alloy 2&3/4" barrel last season and I was concerned about buying another but I hope that this bat being a 2&5/8" barrel will make it more solid and it will last longer. If you want to be good at something you have to work hard if you want to be great you have to want it

Cons: We'll see about the durability as the season progresses

5150 Tim W parent

Pros: My son used another boys 5150 bat towards the end of the season and he loved it. This is the first big barrel bat that I've bought him. He prefers using the Rawlings over his Easton Mako bat. He drives the ball just as far with the 5150 as he does the Mako.

Cons: None so far

This past weekend he hit his very first homer and had 4 more hits to go along with it for the 2 day tournament. Shipping was on point with no damages. Thank you Just Bats!!

Can you clear up whether or not this bat has the composite end cap? KeithB

what does - 10 bat weight mean? my son is 10 and I'm not sure if this is heavier or lighter than a -11 thanks meredith
The drop is the length to weight ratio. So if a bat was a -10 and was 32" long you would take 32-10=22. That means the bat would weigh 22 ounces. So a -11 would be one ounce lighter than a -10.

What is the difference between the 2-piece and 1-piece bats? Does one perform better than the other? Coach
The biggest thing that sets a two-piece bat apart from a one-piece bat (like this 2016 Rawlings 5150 Alloy Senior League Baseball Bat: SL5R10) is the feeling at contact. A two-piece bat provides more of a flex feel at contact while a one-piece bat gives you more of a stiff feel at contact. Neither feel is better, it just comes down to the preference of your player.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
