Rawlings Quatro -10 28/18 Northshore Prospects coach

Pros: Great POP right out of the wrapper and the grip used for this bat, along with the POP and design of the bat, is one feature my son immediately enjoyed. The Quatro collar is also a cool feature for this bat that I feel truly does have a purpose with the absorption. The durability of this bat seems to be way better than some of the other composite bats on the market today.

Best Bat Ever! Emmett M. player

Pros: I love everything about this bat--the weight, the length, the feel, the grip, everything. The grip is not too slick and not too rough; it's perfect. It's the best bat I've ever known and has already helped in my League. Awesome!

Pros: My son had a chance to try this bat out thanks to a friend. Obviously, the color is an eye-catcher, but my son loved how smooth the feel was. His swing was more balanced and he made a lot more contact. Impressive bat.

Cons: Didn't see one.

Pros: I figured Rawlings was releasing a gimmicky bat with bright colors. But, my son has used this bat for a few games now and it's amazing. Easy feel that has helped him make contact a lot more. His teammates can't wait to have their own Quatro. Very impressive, Rawlings!

Not one kid liked it at camp Disappointed Batter player

Pros: Very bright neon will likely distract opposing pitchers.

Cons: No pop what-so-ever. At a major University camp this past week all players had to use this bat during on-field BP. Not one kid liked it. The bat was dead, and very few kids hit it out of the infield; mostly weak ground balls. Kids used the Velo or 5150 in second round and the results were what you would expect for HS Juniors. Unless this bat is completely re-engineered, DO NOT waste your or your parents money on this neon joke. Stick with the tried and true Velo or 5150!!

Pros: I demoed this bat at the Cal Ripken World Series. This bat has the greatest pop out of all the bats that I've ever used. Also the grip was great, comfortable in hands. The bat was a demo so it was broke in, but either way it had great pop.

Broken Two Quatro Bats Brent Douglas coach

Pros: Bat has a good feel, right out of the wrapper, with very good pop.

Cons: After 3 weeks of use, the end cap broke off. Rawlings replaced the bat, after 4 more weeks it shattered. It was a 75 degree day, ball hit the sweet spot and shattered.

Rawlings has some work to do Jay Johnson coach

Pros: This bat has good balance and the vibration when a ball is hit off the handle is minimal. It doesn't have the pop that the Velo or the CF7 had.

Cons: End cap issues for Rawlings. First one didn't make it two weeks before the end cap came off warming up for a game. Rawlings replaced it, but it looks like a design issue and I won't be surprised if this isn't a common issue. Wish I would have bought the CF7 when I had the chance.

This will be the bat of 2017 Mister Coach coach

Pros: Guys seemed to like the grip and overall feel of the bat in their hands. Some said it felt light compared to their own bats. Demo was brand new, so not yet broken in, but blew the velo monitor away. The exit velocity averaged 2-5mph over the CF8...team was sold. Get over the color and ended up with 8 of them.

Cons: Too bright...but that's what the kids like these days.

I dont see it Big Daddy parent

Pros: Goodfeel, balanced, minimal vibration.

Cons: Most of the kids on my sons 12u team has the Quatro bat. We've yet to see any pop out of this bat. I can't understand the high ratings it's getting. After the first two tournaments, no one was hitting the ball hard with this bat. Its almost like it was a piece of soggy wood. Everyone went back to their old DeMarini CF8's and Easton Maco's. Now they are blasting bombs again.

Worst Bat EVER!!!!! Chris parent

Pros: none

Cons: Breaks easily and is junk. Purchased this bat in January of 2017. By June 2017 it had cracked and sent it in for warranty. Bat cracked yesterday in a game and called Rawling's today. They said that if I would have called in January of 2018 they may have considered a warranty but since we are passed the original date of purchase they said no way. This bat is complete junk. I will never buy another bat from them again. And seriously couldn't even offer up a discount of sorts.

Ball jumps off the bat, huge sweet spot NO sting! Baseball Momma of 24 parent

Pros: This bat is hot out of the box! My son is 8years old he plays travel baseball and we purchased this bat after he tried several of the other bbcor models and didnt care for them. He is a big guy at 4'7 and 98lbs, solid contact hitter with a big swing. This bat is truly perfect for him! Nice balanced bat with no sting or vibration, the ball HOPS off the thing and theres plenty of sweet spot even when you get jammed up. Reccommend for a kid thats used to swinging hard and likes the balanced feel. A+ from us on product, cust service rocks and shipping was fast and free!

Cons: My son doesnt care for the bright color thats his one and only complaint.

11 yr old review Ed Parent

Pros: My 11yr old loves this bat. He has only played 2 seasons and loves the feel when hitting the ball. Other kids new to the sport have cheaper one piece bats, and complain about their hands feeling “stingy” after hitting. This bat (according to my son) feels and hits well (I guess that would be pop). You won’t be disappointed.

Cons: None at this time.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Rawlings Quatro Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7Q10? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is this considered a big barrel? jd
Yes the 2017 Rawlings Quatro Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7Q10 is considered a big barrel bat.
Carter
Is there a break-in period with this bat? CrushersBaseball
The 2017 Rawlings Quatro Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7Q10 is pretty hot out of the wrapper, but we still feel it benefits from a small break-in period. The best way to break it in is to take 50-100 swings off a tee, rotating the barrel about a quarter turn every few swings, and gradually working your swing speed up from about 50% to 100%.
Jason
Is this a two-piece bat? tommy
Yes, the 2017 Rawlings Quatro Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7Q10 is a two-piece fully composite bat.
Jason
What is the difference between the Quatro and the Velo? Red
The 2017 Rawlings Quatro Senior League Baseball Bat (SL7Q10) and the 2017 Rawlings VELO Senior League Baseball Bat (SL7V10) are going to be very different bats. The Rawlings Velo is going to be a one piece aluminum bat. It will have a stiff feel when hitting the ball due to its one piece design. The sound of the ball coming off the bat will be extremely loud, due to the Acoustic Alloy that Rawlings uses with this particular bat. The Rawlings Quatro is going to be a multi piece composite bat. It is going to have more flex than the Velo because it is not a one piece bat. Some vibration is lost with the Vibration Dampening Technology used in the Quatro. Both are high end, high performing bats. Whether a player preferred one or the other would be based off of personal preference.
Carter
Is this bat universally accepted in most leagues and tournaments? Red
The 2017 Rawlings Quatro Senior League Baseball Bat (SL7Q10) is accepted in a lot of leagues and tournaments. I would not say universally because there is so many different leagues and league rules. It is a composite bat with a 2 3/4" diameter barrel. Some leagues do not allow that size barrel and others require all composite bats to be BBCOR certified. If you have questions about your specific league just reach out to us by phone, chat, or email and we will be able to help you out.
Carter
What size you would you recommend for 4'10", 90 pound, average strength 12 year old? Marc
Based on that height and weight we would recommend a 30"/20 ounce 2017 Rawlings Quatro Senior League Baseball Bat (SL7Q10).
Carter
Can this bat be used in temperatures below 55 degrees? mike
The 2017 Rawlings Quatro Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7Q10 is a two-piece composite bat that will feature a balanced swing weight. These bats are typically better suited for warmer temperatures, around 70 degree Fahrenheit and above, but can certainly be used in colder weather. Durability could come into play with composite bats a little earlier than an alloy bat in colder temperatures.
Cameron
What size do you recommend for an 11 yr old who measures 5'2" and 105 lbs? Sultan of Swat
Based on your player's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2017 Rawlings Quatro Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7Q10 in a 31 inch model.
Cameron
Does this bat require a break in period? Jon T
The 2017 Rawlings Quatro Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7Q10 is a two-piece fully composite baseball bat that will require a slight break in period. Most manufacturers are stating that the 2017 composite bats will feature more of a factory break-in in terms of the composite bats but we do hear that some customers feel that the current composites perform better after 100+ swings.
Cameron
How does this bat compare to the CF Zen in terms of weight distribution? Is it End loaded? Jjonesz74
The weight distribution between the 2017 Rawlings Quatro Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7Q10 and the CF Zen is pretty similar, as both are well balanced bats.
Logan
Is this bat a 2 5/8 barrel? coltmay
The 2017 Rawlings Quatro Senior League Baseball Bat (SL7Q10) has a 2 3/4" barrel.
Carter
Does this bat have the new USA stamp on it to comply with new bat rules? joe
The 2017 Rawlings Quatro Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7Q10 does not feature the USABat stamp to comply with the new rules taking affect in 2018. These bats will not be released until sometime in September of 2017.
Cameron
Can my son use this bat in USSSA? luis
Yes, the 2017 Rawlings Quatro Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7Q10 is legal in USSSA play.

The one that is $179, is that the -3 model? domthegoat
The model listed for $179.99 is the 2017 Rawlings Quatro Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7Q10 and it features a -10 drop weight.
Dan
I need this bat in a 31/28 , -3. Is that possible? Richard
While this 2017 Rawlings Quatro Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7Q10 is a -10, the 2017 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB7Q4 was the -3 model but it is unfortunately a discontinued model and we no longer have stock of that bat.
Tyler
Do you have to break the bat in before using it in a game? super_cooper
Yes, we recommend a break-in period for all composite material bats, including this 2017 Rawlings Quatro. Generally 150-200 swings off a tee or soft toss is enough to get a bat game ready.
Kyle J.
is 30/20 still up in -3 arod
A 30" / 20oz option in the 2017 Rawlings Quatro Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7Q10 would be -10. The "drop" is designated as the bat's length minus its weight. A -3 bat in 30" would weigh 27 ounces. The -3 bats are labeled as BBCOR and legal for high school and collegiate players. The 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3 would be the -3 option of this bat.
Daveron
What is the difference between the 2017 and 2018 Rawlings Quatro Senior league bat and how does this bat compare to the Marrucci Cat 8? David
Not much changed from the 2017 to the 2018 models of the Rawlings Quatro other than cosmetics. Both it and the Marucci Cat 8 are excellent bats that should rate near the top performers in their respective categories. In my opinion the Rawlings is slightly better balanced for contact hitters, while the Marucci Cat 8 is geared slightly more towards power hitters.
Kyle J.
My son is 9 years old and will be playing 10U travel ball this fall. He is 4'1" and weighs 55lbs. What size would you recommend for him in this bat? Mason's Dad
Based on his size, I would recommend a 28" option of this 2017 Rawlings Quatro Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7Q10.
Tyler
Does this bat come with a warranty? Kyle
Yes, the Rawlings Quatro Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7Q10 has a 12 month manufacturer's warranty.
Tori
Does it have pop: yes or no? Benjamin
Yes, the ball comes off the barrel of this Rawlings Quatro Senior League Baseball Bat (SL7Q10) really well and lots of folks would say the bat has "pop".
Ben
Does it break easily? Benjamin
We have not heard a lot of durability complaints on the Rawlings Quatro Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7Q10. However, there is no real way to say if or when a bat is going to break. (NP)

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
