The original B3 Gear was determined to be too hot when composite bats were tested for legality in Little League baseball. No. BESR certification only applies to adult bat. This is a youth bat.

This bar does not have the USSSA and 1.15 BPF stamp on the barrel of the bat. This bat will not be able to be used next year in leagues that mandate this.

The B4 got the MAP rating, which is Maximum Allowed Performance. Either one of those two will be excellent, they have HUGE sweetspots, and incredible pop.

My son's bat has the 1.15 stamp on it. Why will it be illegal in some leagues? I asked this before we bought it. jim
Starting Jan 1 2012 all bats will be required to have the USSSA stamp. Even though this says its approved, it does not have the stamp on the bat.

No, it is not the same as the Retro. There are 2 versions of the Gear Retro, the -10 and the -12.

Both these bats are very similar in most aspects. The B4 is going to have a bit bigger sweet spot then the GEARYB2

I know in the past when I bought bats they have had temperature restrictions and/or break in requirements... living in cold temperature this can be a problem in early season... does this bat have any restrictions? B3
This is a composite material that should not used in temperatures under 55 degrees.

I've read alot of conflicting reports if this bat is legal for 2012? It does not have the USSSA stamp but it does have 1.15 BPF on the barrell. So, is it good or not? I have to worry because we got it last fall for $250 and now its $150. Jim

How do you break in this bat? Rano
I would suggest taking about 150-200 hits off a tee or soft toss, starting out at about 40% power and gradually increasing your speed the closer you get to the 150 swing mark. Also, make sure you are using the same balls you would be hitting in a game and rotating the bat about a quarter of an inch in between hits to ensure an even break in all around the barrel of the bat.

Both are good bats, but designed very differently. If you would prefer a stiffer bat, the B3 would be a better choice. Since the Vooodoo is a two piece bat, it will provide more flex.

Yes, the COMBAT B3 Gear Retro will be legal for the 2013 season. The newest USSSA stamp wont be required for youth 2 1/4" barrel bats until 2014.
