This composite design begins with Blended Fiber Technology which uses several different fibers in varying proportions at carefully controlled angles. Then, using their Anisotropic Composite Technology, they vary the stiffness along the handle to reduce vibration, and at different points along the barrel to give the Pure a softer feel. In their never ending quest to achieve maximum performance and durability, COMBAT uses Variable Stiffness Technology that allows COMBAT's engineers to lower stiffness on both sides of the sweet spot in order to double its size, while still maintaining its strength! The 2013 COMBAT Pure: PURESL1 and the 2013 COMBAT B4 Portent: B4SL1 are both one-piece composite bats. However, the PURESL1 will perform similar to a two-piece bat. The Easton S1 is a two-piece composite bat and will have more flex than the PURESL1 and the B4 Portent.

No, unfortunately the COMBAT Pure is only available in -8, -10 and -12 sizes for senior league baseball.

Have been considering getting a Combat for my 13 yr old son. He has always hit hybrids in the past but he does not like his options in the -8 hybrid category. Would like to know the main differences between the PureSL1 -8 and the Portent -8. I heard that the Pure will perform similar to a two-piece bat. How is that? Matt
The 2013 COMBAT Pure: PURESL1 -8 Senior League will not perform like a two-piece bat as it is still a one-piece bat. The difference between this bat, and the 2013 COMBAT B4 Portent: B4SL1 -8 Senior League is that the Portent has the Precision Molding Technology so no dead spots will be found throughout the barrel.

The COMBAT B4 Portent will be more comparable to the COMBAT B3.

Both are excellent bats. The COMBAT 52 Caliber will be more end loaded than the 2013 COMBAT Pure: PURESL1. Both are very high performing.

Most comes down to the personal preference of the player. However, one-piece bats will be stiffer than two-piece bats. Two-piece bats will offer more flex compared to a one-piece bat.
