Pros: Price was right, but maybe for a reason.

Cons: It sounds like it's broke if you don't hit it exactly on the sweet spot. The ump stopped the game because he thought it was broke after a foul ball and again later in the game when jammed. I realize it isn't going to go anywhere when jammed, but it shouldn't sound like it's broke.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the DeMarini Distance Senior League Baseball Bat: DXDSR? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Where does this bat rank in the scheme of things? Mark
Quite honestly, it is one of DeMarini's mid range bats. Since it's a -8, and it is more than likely a transitional bat. Gradually preparing for the -3 you have to swing in high school. It's a one piece all alloy, it has a good pop, and would be good for a transition.
Linda
Just received this bat, and there is not a USSSA 1.15 stamp on it. It says in the features it has one and is legal. Is that correct and I was just sent the wrong bat? I will be returning it, just need to know if I need to look at a different bat. Fred
Currently the stamp is only on the 28/20oz. The 29" does not have the stamp.
KG
I purchased a "2011 DeMarini Distance" 31/23 last fall for son. It has no USSA Stamp. Is it Legal? Patrick
Even though it doesn't have the exact USSSA stamp, it should have the 1.15BPF stamp on it. The information given to us says, if the bat has the 1.15bpf stamp it will be grandfathered in and be legal in 2012, but ALL bats will be required to have the USSSA stamp by 2013.
Linda
There is no USSSA or 1.15 bpf stamp on my son's 31/23 2012 DeMarini "Distance." Am I out of Luck? Patrick
We suggest contacting DeMarini with this issue and they may be able to send you a bat with that stamp.
KG
Does the 30/22 have the USSSA 1.15 stamp on it? Ryan
The 30" and 28" bats we have in stock are stamped, the 29"'s are not.
Shelbe
Why would the 29 inch not have the stamp? Jrod
For some reason at this point in time (1/23/2012) the models we received from Demarini do not have the stamp in the 29".
John
Pony (pinto) rules states that bats may be 2 5/8 in diameter but not stamped tee ball or coach pitch (unless using safety ball). I assume Senior league bats are allowed??? Can you please clarify before I purchase. Jawaiian
The DXDSR is not a coach pitch or tee ball bat and may be used in Pony League.
Kara
Yes, Senior League bats will be allowed. Senior League means big barrel bats. Some Senior League bats will have 2 3/4" barrels, please make sure to read the features before purchasing.
Kris
is the 31 inch allowed for babe ruth play 15u? GreeneMachine
Yes. It absolutely is legal in Babe Ruth play.
Tyler
is your DSR11 distance USSSA rated woodman
The Demarini Distance is approved, and features the USSSA stamp on the 28" and 30" models. The 29" model doesn't feature the stamp, so it wouldn't be legal for play in 2012. Here is the link to the DXDSR to view more features on this model. http://www.justbats.com/product/2012-demarini-distance--dxdsr-senior-league/14264/
Derek
Does the bat have a seal of approval from the state? Makane Honokaupu
The 2012 DeMarini Distance does have the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp on the 28 in. and 30 in. models. The 29 in. model does not have the stamp.
Nick K.
Can I use this bat in Spring league Babe Ruth? I'm 13 years old. Dom
Yes. Only composite bats have to be BBCOR certified in the Babe Ruth 13-15 division. Because this is an alloy bat the DeMarini Distance will be eligible for play.
Damon
My son plays Little League in one of the Little League International leagues. Is this bat legal for the 2013 season? If so, he is 5'6" and weighs 105 pounds. Would this be a good bat for him? bballfan
The 2012 DeMarini Distance: DXDSR Senior League bat will not have the new updated USSSA stamp and markings on it. I would ask a coach or league official if your bat is legal. Your boy is recommended to be swinging a 31" bat length at his size.
Brandon
Is it a baseball bat? negro8825
The DeMarini Distance: DXDSR Senior League is a Youth Big Barrel baseball bat.
Katie
Is this bat USSSA approved? black8825
The 28" and 30" DeMarini Distance: DXDSR Senior League have the new USSSA stamp, but the 29" bat does not.
Noah
Is this bat a composite bat? battygirl
The DeMarini Distance: DXDSR Senior League is a one-piece aluminum design.
John H
Which would be a better transition bat, the DXDSR or the Easton SL14S400? Scott
Bothe DeMarini Distance and the Easton S400 would be ideal for transitioning into a heavier bat. Both bats are well balanced design.
John
Is this bat better for a contact hitter or a power hitter? J.M.
The DeMarini Distance (DXDSR) Senior League features a balanced swing weight, which is better suited for contact hitting.
Tessa L.
Is this bat BBCOR? John
The DeMarini Distance Senior League Baseball Bat: DXDSR is not a BBCOR bat. This bat is a Senior League or Youth Big Barrel bat featuring a drop -8; all BBCOR bats will be a drop -3.

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
