Vexxum Goat player

Pros: This is one of the best bats I have ever put in my hands it's very balanced but not as balanced as the cf7 but the vexxum has a lot more pop than than the vexxum people around the world should think the same way about this bat. I'm in high school baseball and we use marruci cat 6 but I'm the only one that uses the Demarini vexxum and has the highest batting average on the team and I'm a freshmen so. This bat was worth your money for I was very excited when I used this bat

Cons: Nothing at all one of the best bats I have ever used thanks justbats you helped me a lot

great bat...has made a big difference Victor Von Diggity parent

Pros: I have an undersized kid compared to the rest of the behemouth 13 year olds out there. He has struggled this year to make the jump from a -9 to a -5. He is tall, so the 31 length was perfect, but the 26 oz. wasn't working. Just jumping to a 25 oz. and a 30 length has made a big difference.

Cons: Nothing. looks good and cleans up well.

Great Buy! Parent/ coach other

Pros: Has really good pop, great balance in weight. My son is 5ft 75 lbs, so not short but thin framed and he swings this bat with great control. I purchased the 30/25 because his middle school makes them use a drop 3 which is 28oz so I figured this would be a great step into the -3 bats he will have to swing next school yr. The bat looks and feels pretty good, I also took some swings off it so I can give a fare judgment and I must say it is an above average bat for the asking price.

Cons: The grip is a little slick so I recommend the use of batting gloves, there is a sting on the hands if the inside pitch gets you.

Best in Class DE Baseball Dad parent

Pros: My son switched a few weeks ago from an end-loaded -5 bat to the more balanced -5 Vexxum. I thought it would diminish his hitting power, but that has not been the case. The Vexxum has great pop. Because it's balanced, my son is able to put the bat on the ball more accurately. The result is more line drives. He loves this bat. Overall, the Vexxum is hard to beat.

Cons: None that we've noticed so far.

Should of gotten the MAKO BaseballMomNC parent

Pros: bought for my son a 9 year old all star. He likes the unique look of it.

Cons: The vibration is terrible. My son's hand hurt after just a few pitches in the batting cage on this one. The narrow barrel and weight at the end cause the bat to dip and you have to force it not to. it's terrible on young players working on swing techique

Team Favorite Blake player

Pros: My 35+ team loves this bat. Great balance, great pop. Four of us old farts have this bat after we all spent a season borrowing our teammate's 2013 NVS. We all brought our own bats, and we all wound up using the 2013. So, when the price dropped last fall, four of us snapped one up. We have to check the serial number in the dugout to see which is ours. This bat makes us feel young again!

Cons: It seems to get better as time goes on. I swear it has more pop after 15 games, or so.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVX5? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is this bat designed more for a power hitter or contact hitter? Dave
The 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) has a balanced swing weight, which is typically a design that contact hitters use best. However, players can really use whatever kind of design they're comfortable with. Power hitters can still use a balanced bat effectively.
Mac
Is this bat legal for use in Babe Ruth? bob
The 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) is approved for the 13-15 Year Old division of Babe Ruth baseball. That division permits the use of any length to weight ratio as long as the bat has a 2 5/8" barrel diameter and a barrel that is not made of composite material. This Vexxum NVS has the X12 Alloy in its barrel which would be approved.
Mac
I am shopping for a preBCOR for my 13u 8th grader. He is small, 5'0" 80 lbs. How does this bat compare to the Marucci ONE 2014 and the Louisville Slugger Assault in terms of balance, sweet spot, and durability? Smalls
The 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) is more balanced than the Marucci ONE and the Louisville Slugger Assault. The Vexxum NVS is very comparable to the two bats in sweet spot size and durability. It is tough to say one has the edge over the other in those areas.
Jason
My son has been using the 2014 Rawling 5150 Velo. We need to replace it and we're considering the 2015 Velo or this DeMarini. How do these bats compare for contact hitters? GB
While both are great options, it all comes down to the feel he prefers. The 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat: (DXVX5) is a two-piece hybrid which provides more flex to increase bat speed. The 2015 Rawlings 5150 VELO Senior League Baseball Bat: (SLRVEL) is a single piece alloy designed to offer more control.
Allison
What is the difference between this model and the 2014? Is it just the cosmetic? OFD326
The 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) and the 2014 model do have slight difference besides the cosmetics. The 2015 DeMarini Vexxum has an X12 Alloy Barrel while the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum has a x10 Alloy Barrel. Also, the 2015 DeMarini Vexxum has a Ultra Light N2M End Cap.
Frankie
What does the difference in x12 and x10 mean between the 2015 and 2014 models? Sammy
The 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) will feature the X12 Alloy barrel. This is a higher grade of alloy, with more responsiveness and pop than the X10 Alloy barrel used on the 2014 model.
Joe
Is the DeMarini Vexxum end-loaded? AA Battery
No, the 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) is going to have a balanced swing weight.
Liz
How does this bat compare to the Louisville Slugger Exogrid drop 5? hfp
The 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) features a well-balanced two-piece hybrid design with a composite handle and the X12 Alloy barrel. It will be better balanced as well as utilize higher grades of composite and alloy as well than the Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID 3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL13EX5).
Joe
Does this bat have to be broken in? HFP
The 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) has an alloy barrel, so it will be hot out of the wrapper.
Allison
My 12 year old son has always been a contact hitter but recently has started to become more of a power hitter. Between the DeMarini Vexxum NVS -5 and the Easton XL1 -5, which bat would you suggest? My son is currently using the DeMarini CF5 and loves it. BH
I would suggest going with the 2015 Easton XL1 Senior League -5 Baseball Bat (SL15X15) over the 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) for players, such as your son, who are contact hitters but hit for power as well. The reason for this is because Easton XL1 is a two-piece design bat (which is ideal for a contact hitter) that features an end-loaded swing weight (which is ideal for a power hitter). The DeMarini Vexxum however, is a two-piece designed bat that features an extremely balanced, light swing weight which generally contact hitter use.
Liz
Is this bat legal for Little League Intermediate 50/70 Division? Does the composite handle put it into the composite bat regulations? Cyclone
The 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) is legal for play in Little League Intermediate 50/70. It features the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp and is not fully composite. Only bats with a composite barrel are required to be BBCOR certified in Intermediate 50/70.
Jason
My son needs to start swinging a drop 5. He has had the DeMarini CF6 and CF7 and does well with them. He is not a power hitter. JM
The 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) is a balanced bat like the CF6 and CF7. The only difference is the CF6 and CF7 are fully composite bats and the Vexxum is a hybrid design.
Frankie
Is the -10 barrel length smaller than the -5? ZK
The 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) -5 bat will have a longer barrel than on the 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVXR).
Patrick
What is the difference between the 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat: DVXV5 and the Easton XL3 Senior League Bat? I am thinking about getting a -5 30 inch 25 ounce. Luke
The 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) and the 2015 Easton XL3 Senior League -5 Baseball Bat (SL15X35) are very different by design. The Vexxum will be more balanced and has a two-piece hybrid design with a composite handle and alloy barrel. The XL3 is a single-piece design with an all alloy construction and will be end-loaded or "barrel heavy."
Patrick
What is the difference between the 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) and the 2015 Marucci CAT 6 Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBC65)? Jack
The 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) is going to be a balanced two piece hybrid design. The 2015 Marucci CAT 6 Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBC65) is going to be a balanced one piece alloy design.
Frankie
I weigh 112 pounds and I'm 5 foot 7 inches and I would like to get a bat that is going to last me a couple of years. Should I get a 32 or 33 inch bat? jackson h
Based on your height and weight our bat coach recommends a 31 inch. If you are wanting a bat that is going to last you a couple of years, you could get a 32 inch.
Frankie
My son is a rather small 13 year old. He has to move up to the -5 this year from his -11 Easton Mako. Which bat on the market would have the lightest swing weight for a contact hitter? I was contemplating between this bat, the 2015 Mako Torque, 2015 CF7 and the 2016 Louisville Slugger 516 Omaha. GN
Based on what you have mentioned, we would recommend going with the 2015 DeMarini CF7 Senior League Baseball Bat (DXCF5). This bat would feature a two-piece fully composite design and will be a very balanced bat for a contact hitter.
Cameron
Could this bat be used in colder temperatures since the barrel is alloy OR for colder weather does the entire bat need to be aluminum? We are in MN and some of the practices/games my 8th grade son will play in April can be quite cool. MNBaseball
The 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVX5 would be a great option to consider for use in colder temperatures because of its alloy barrel. For colder weather, it doesn't matter if the handle is composite as long as the barrel is alloy.
Cameron
Since this bat has an alloy barrel is it ok to use against pitching machine dimpled balls without damaging the barrel? MNBaseball
The 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVX5, and any other bat for that matter, can be damaged by a pitching machine that uses dimpled balls as these balls do not have the same weight consistency as a regular baseball.
Cameron
Would this bat be good for a 13yr old who is 5'6 and 150lbs? If not what bat would you guys recommend? Pickles
The DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVX5 could certainly be a good bat for your son. Typically, the drop 5 Senior League bats, like this one, would be ideal for a player that is one year away from high school as this will make for an easier transition to the BBCOR level (drop 3 bats). For players 2 years away from high school, we recommend going with a drop 8 bat although some players are more than capable of swinging a drop 5 for two seasons. The benefits of this bat would be the balanced swing weight and two-piece design.
Cameron
Model year? MAC
The DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVX5 was produced in 2014 and was listed as the 2015 model.
Cameron
Would this bat be ideal for my 11 year old old son in 12u? He's 5'4" and weighs about 155 pounds. I am thinking of a 22 ounce with another bat but people keep saying 22 ounces is too light for him. frank
Based upon your son's height and weight, I would recommend a 32" DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVX5. This particular model features a -5 length to weight ratio so the 32 inch length will weigh 27 ounces. It is hard for me to recommend a weight for your player because that will depend based upon his personal preference, hitting style, and strength.
John P.
Is this bat end-loaded? PapaDew
This DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) will be a balanced swinging bat. If you want an end-loaded option from DeMarini that has a -5 length-to-weight ratio, I would recommend the DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD FT Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVD5).
Ben
Which bat should I choose: the Rawlings 5150 or the DXVX5? I am 5' 100 lbs. and playing 11U baseball. Jack
Both the DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVX5 and the 5150 are both excellent options. One is not going to be better than the other performance wise. If you prefer a bat with some flex when you swing the bat, then the Vexxum is the better option. If you prefer the stiffer one-piece design then the 5150 is the better option. Based on your height and weight, we suggest a 30" bat.
Jason
Is this bat approved for high school baseball? Bri_Cam
The DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVX5 does not feature the BBCOR Certification so it will not be legal for play at the high school level.
John P.
Is this bat ASA Approved? Jack
The DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVX5 will feature the USSSA BPF 1.15 Certification but will not be ASA approved.
John P.
Is this bat one of the following certifications: BBCOR, BESR or Little League? sevans
The DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVX5 is USSSA BPF 1.15 certified. This is what is required in Little League.
Angelique
I am 13, but fairly short (5' to be exact). I like to use a longer bat and I am trying to find a good transition to a BBCOR model from a -8 model (I move to BBCOR in two years). Would this be a good transition bat and I am not sure if I am going to get a 32" and choke up or get a 31" model. Which would you recommend? Ky
I think that this DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) will be a solid bat to help you bridge the gap from a -8 model to a BBCOR bat. For most 13 year old players, I would recommend going with a 31" model of bat, but if you are feeling that you might be making a move to 32" bat pretty soon, I might recommend going with that 32" length option of this bat (and choking up on it for the current time being till you are comfortable).
Ben
My son is 5'9" and 155 pounds. Would you recommend a -5 in a 32 inch or 33 inch? Canesfan22
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVX5 in a 33 inch 28 ounce.
Cameron
Does this bat meet the requirements of the Little League Intermediate (50/70)? whoknows
The DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVX5 will be legal within the Intermediate (50/70) division of Little League.
John P.
Would this bat be alright for a 5'5", 130 lb 13 year old? wonder bat
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting a DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat in a 32 inch model. The weight of the bat, if he is still two years away from high school and having to use BBCOR bats, might be better served with a drop 8 model. If your son will be using BBCOR bats in a year from now then a drop 5 would be better.
Cameron
My son has been using a Vexxum VXM model DVXE (I think it was a 2012 model) in 31" 27 oz. size. He likes the balance and feel of that bat, but it is time to step up to an inch longer in length while sticking with a drop -5 weight. Would this 2015 NVS model have similar balance and feel to his current bat? msquared
The DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) will feel very similar to his current bat he is using. The 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS are very balanced and lightweight bats.
Jake
Are you allowed to use this bat in high school? I am a freshman and in need of another bat. I think this bat would be a great choice. AmZ Infamous
High school baseball requires a BBCOR certified bat so the DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) would not be legal for use. Instead, you would need the 2016 DeMarini Vexxum NVS BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXVXC).
Jake
My son is 6 years old. Do you recommend this bat in coach pitch? frank
One can certainly use a Senior League bat in coach pitch like the DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat. Would not suggest getting a drop 5 length to weight ratio one like the DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVX5 as this bat will be too heavy for a 6 year old. Most players in coach pitch will use what is called Junior Big Barrel bats. These bats have thinner balls and are designed for 40 MPH and less; giving these bats a little more pop than the Senior League Baseball bats. To see what size to get, we would recommend looking into our bat coach at: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Cameron
My son is 10 years old, about 4'7", and weighs 92 lbs. What size should he be swinging? Joey
For a player of his age and size, I would recommend going with a 30" bat that weighs anywhere from 18-20 oz. - depending on what you think he'd be most comfortable with. Given that the DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVX5 is a -5, it is likely going to be too heavy of a bat for a 10 year old player.
Marcus
I'm 13, in Babe Ruth and need a drop 5. Which would be better to get? preston12
A balanced bat, like the DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVX5, would be a good bat to consider for someone playing in Babe Ruth at 13 years of age.
Cameron
do you think a 32/27 for my son 5'7" 149lb 13 years old is good for him or 31/26? frankie
Based on your son's height and weight, I would recommend that he swing the 32" length.
Nick
When should I start swinging this -5 Vexxum? ash
For a player that is in 7th or 8th grade and preparing for the BBCOR .50 bats they will be using in high school, I would recommend a bat like this DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVX5) with a -5 length-to-weight ratio.
Ben
Is it composite? DomDaBomb
The DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVX5 is a two-piece hybrid design bat meaning that it will have an alloy barrel and composite handle.
Cameron
What length bat should a 5'2" 93 lb 13 yr old be using? Will
Based on the player's height and weight, I would recommend that a 31" length. That would be a 31" 26 oz. size in this particular model of the DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVX5.
Nick
What length do you recommend for 11 yr old who is 5'6" 185 lbs? Kerri Hudgins
Based on your height and weight, we would recommend getting the DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVX5 in a 32 inch 27 ounce model.
Cameron
Is the NVS VEXXUM (-12) 2 1/4" legal to use in Little League? bud
The DeMarini Vexxum NVS Youth Baseball Bat: DXVXL would be approved for Little League play (we currently no longer have this bat as of 6/30/16).
Cameron
What bat size do you recommend for an 11 year old who is 5'2" and 120 lbs? Kelly Chambers
Based upon your player's height and weight, we would make a general recommendation of getting a Senior League/Youth Big Barrel bat in the 31" length. If you are looking specifically at an option with a -5 length-to-weight ratio, then I would suggest a 31"/26 oz bat if your player can handle 26 oz weight. Sadly, at the time of your question, the only size option we have left of this bat is the 33"/28 oz size.

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
