Description
There are 3 constants when it comes to slow pitch players and their bats. They want a bat that's hot out of the wrapper, they're always looking for the next best thing, and they prefer either a balanced or end-loaded design. Raw Power is Easton's answer. With the new ASA bat restrictions, they no longer test the MPH ratings on bats. Because they no longer use the MPH testing, it's hard to say what the exact MPH rating is for the 2014 Easton L9.0: SP13L9 Slow Pitch.

Is this a good bat for 44/375 softballs? Also, I'm concerned with durability/denting....not just with this bat, but other similar bats. Why do so many people complain of this and shall I assume I will probably be replacing my bat after one season? Sammy
The 2014 Easton L9.0: SP13L9 Slow Pitch bat features the new ASA certification mark. Bats with this mark are designed to hit the newer, .52 CORE softballs. Using these bats with the .44 or .47 CORE softballs will cause them to be more susceptible to cracking or denting. This model also features the USSSA certification, so it should hold up to the .44 CORE softballs slightly better than bats that only bear the new ASA certification. Unfortunately, it's impossible to predict the exact life of any bat; even when used with the correct CORE softballs.

Any bat with a 2004 ASA stamp is designed to hit the lower COR, higher compression ASA softballs; like the .44 COR 375 Comp. balls. The 2014 Easton L9.0: SP13L9 Slow Pitch carries the newer ASA stamp, so it would be more susceptible to denting.

The 2014 Easton L9.0: SP13L9 Slow Pitch does not have a composite barrel, so it can be used in colder temperatures. However, it is the ball that becomes harder and can damage an alloy or composite bat. An alloy bat is usually preferred in temperatures below 55 degrees.

Unfortunately, there is not a balanced version of the 2014 Easton L9.0: SP13L9 Slow Pitch. All of the B Series slow pitch bats from Easton are made of composite materials.

Both the Easton CV12: SCG1 and the 2014 Easton L9.0: SP13L9 have slightly end-loaded swing weights and are composed of Easton's THT100 Scandium Alloy. The main difference between the two is the CV12 had an IMX Composite Inner Core with a THT100 Scandium Alloy outer shell.
