Description

Every year, Easton unveils the latest game changing technology that revolutionizes baseball bats to enhance and compliment player performance. Expect nothing less from Easton this season with the new MAKO TORQ. The MAKO TORQ combines power with a new genius twist: a 360 Torq Handle. This never before seen handle rotates to promote a fully extended swing, with the top palm facing down, and the bottom palm facing up. By allowing the wrists to move freely, the MAKO TORQ technology gets the barrel to the zone faster and keeps it in the zone longer, allowing the hitter to square up for more pitches, more often with explosive power. There is no doubt the MAKO TORQ is way ahead of the competition, providing players with an increasingly important edge to stay on top! Easton added the 360 TORQ handle to their high end MAKO baseball bat. The two-piece, composite design is equipped with the same powerful technologies such as Easton's TCT Thermo Composite Technology and their ConneXion Technology. TCT Thermo Composite is engineered to provide top-notch players two major benefits: unmatched bat speed and a massive sweet spot. ConneXion Technology maximizes energy transfer for an optimized feel. To provide baseball players with a world-class feel, Easton also included their gauze grip to provided added comfort, and durability. There is a reason why champions swing Easton as they never settle for the ordinary! Easton is Sports Engineering! The Easton MAKO TORQ is USSSA Certified and features the 1.15 BPF stamp on the barrel. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping Included!

SWAGGER BAT RYU parent

Pros: We got this for my son's birthday gift. Honestly we didn't expect that much cause we never seen before grip rotates. We thought it could be just show case bat. My son has YB14MK and SL14MKB since last year and they both works great for him. He is 7yrs old but he play 8U/9U. He is a power hitter but XL1 is quitely heavy. This TORQ is crazy... Actually this bat makes my son's swing position better and we can tell ball fly more farther also. I wouldn't worry about bad hobby via rotates grip. I'm sure this bat makes young player's feel comfy when they swing. Cool to have it. Why not...?

Cons: Same pops with YB14MK but fly farther. Great color. Very attractive.

Great bat! for youth ball 12U R.W.Mauer coach

Pros: My son has been using a Mako YB14MK this fall and loved it. After watching the video at Eastons website the dynamics of the bat just makes sense. My son is a smaller 12 year old with tremendous bat but has a problem rolling his wrist. Well we purchased this today 9-21-2014 to play at Diamond Wars in Fredericksburg VA. My son was 5 for 5 and is swing has improved tremendously. I never thought a bat so called "gimic" would actually work. This bat is science and out of the wrapper it is "hot". Do yourself a favor and do not roll these bats they are already hot!!!

Cons: Expensive Bat and you pay a premium for the new technology.

Mako Torq, Great Bat Scott coach

Pros: 10U Travel team. After 100 swings, this is our findings on the Mako torq . If you take a normal swing thru the zone, the handle does not rotate. If it does then you have a problem with your swing and/or wrist movement. The only time that we had the handle rotate is if you take a swing that is out of the zone, especially a high pitch. If you swing down on a high pitch the handle will rotate and bring the bat more thru the zone which will turn a ground ball into a line drive. I was afraid that this bat would have a lot of vibration because of the rotating handle but this bat has almost zero vibration. I hope this stays true over time and usage.

Cons: None yet.

waste of money colin player

Pros: i had the mako last year and that bat was already too expensive. buy a normal mako or the mako xl because they are cheaper, lighter, and better looking. this bat also loses pop very quickly and easton wont allow you to use the warranty on it if it is dead

Cons: price and handle doesnt spin well. (im not just making a bad review because i can, im reviewing it poorly because it is way too much money and not work $70 more than a mako. dont waste your time with this bat. just buy the mako)

Mako totq Dad parent

Pros: Good pop out of wrapper. Light swing. Rotating handle not really noticeable. By my 9yr old unless he is fighting off an inside pitch.

Cons: Don't let the other reviews or question answers tell you any different, the barrell length of a 29" torq is shorter than the barrel length of a 29/18 mako and a 29/18 cf6. I consider the barrel length the length from the end of the barrel excluding end cap to where where the barrell begins its taper downward (the flat hitting surface) toward the handle not the total length from the end of the barrel to the handle connection.

Changing my Review, Buy the Orange Mako Scott coach

Pros: Good Pop (Not any better than the orange Mako) , very little vibration.

Cons: 10U travel team. After spending more time with this bat in real games I am changing my review. This bat may be okay for older boys like high school but for some younger kids it causes more harm than good. Because the handle turns, some younger kids get there bottom wrist turned out of position waiting on a pitch and when they swing there wrist will turn the wrong way which causes pain and of course no power. I know every kid is different and some can use this bat but for consistency, pop and a over all great bat for all ages, buy the Orange YB15MK or last years YB14MK. Worth every penny!

Mako Torq Tom Murphy coach

Pros: Hot right out of the box. If your league has already ordered balls for the season order more. This bat is going to have coaches sending a lot of kids into the woods looking for balls lost to the HR Gods. The speed through the zone has my son pulling balls down the line that he should be sending to the opposite field and yet no vibration issues at all. The torq design does its job and does it well, If your kid knows what he/she is doing No inside strike should be safe.

Cons: Price. is the only draw back, i cant speak to how well this bat will age as my son has only had it for a month but its taking a beating in the cages (12 hours) and come up laughing.

Wasting your money Beck Milner player

Pros: You don't roll your hands over.

Cons: Too expensive. I swing a S3 for $100 instead of a $350 dollar mako and hot the ball 250 ft. P.S im only 11 years old. When I go and swing the MAKO i only hit it about 200 ft. The composite does not go as far. Also with the two piece you get no reaqction in your hands. How could you know if you hit it right? Save Money Swing Farther!!

Mako Torq 31in -10 Scott H. coach

Pros: My son won this bat in our opening day raffle so the price was right. So my perspective is based on paying next to nothing for it. My son was a "project" so getting the Torq introduced as another variable didn't make me exactly happy. In the end though we are pleased with the bat. I can say that his Torq has significantly more pop than the Easton 31in -13 S500 he was using. I would estimate that the ball is traveling 25-30% further off the Torq than the S500. My son never seemed to have a problem rolling his wrists through the swing but I can say that the handle has not introduced any new issues which 12 year-olds are so prone to pick up. I have also heard other people have issues with the grip wrap coming undone where the handle joint is. We have not experienced that yet and are 15 games into a 24 game season. Also the wrap is thick enough that any vibration is pretty much a non issue.

Cons: The top color of the handle warp is white. So even though it is not unwrapping or fraying it is turning an ugly blackish brown. So my suggestion would be for Easton to change the color to a gray just for the aesthetics.

2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat Eddie Zegarra coach

Pros: The color.

Cons: The barrel is much too small, compared to other Easton bats. Does not have pop - very dull hitting bat. The "TORQ" does not make a difference in the players swing. This bat is no way near worth the cost. Bring back the XL-1!!!!

How great the mako is Ben player

Pros: I love the mako i play for the 10U travel team before i had the mako i was only 4 for 5 and had 2 inside the park home runs but then i got the mako and hit 3 home runs with it in 1 month and lead the league with home runs because of the mako i really like how the make torq handle rotates i like it because the low pitches in the strike zone i swing at i always get a piece of the ball and instead of ground balls the mako turns into a line drive and is it makes it go further and the last thing i there is no vibration so it doesnt hurt your hands at all!

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat: YB15MKT? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

What if my hands are too big for the rotating handle? AWESOME kid
If you have larger hands, they can overlap the rotating handle of the 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT) and still get great performance out of the bat. Typically when gripping a bat, the points of pressure are your bottom fingers (near the knob of the bat) and the top fingers of your top hand on the bat, which leaves your middle fingers to have a somewhat loosened grip. Normally, a hitter has to fight the bat to get in a strong, palm up, palm down hitting position. The Torq handle puts your hands in the optimal position automatically, so if you overlap the rotating handle, your hands will still be in ideal location for contact.
Tessa
Where can I try this bat before I buy it? robert
The 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT) is not out yet. Unfortunately, we are not sure of how you could try one. Easton may know. Their number is 1-888-259-1297.
Brandon
Can 13u travel baseball use this bat? I've heard that they do not allow fully composite bats in 13u travel ball in Maryland only composite handles. Is this true? Juice
Some leagues do not allow for composite barrel bats like the 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT) to be used. However, travel ball varies greatly with its rules so there would be no way for us to speculate about what your league would allow or disallow. The best thing to do would be to ask a coach or league official if there are barrel size or material restrictions in your league.
Patrick

Is this bat Dixie Youth approved for 2015? Dad

Mac
You answered a question stating that the MAKO TORQ is a balanced bat like the original MAKO. I have seen another site video saying that it has the barrel of a XL1. I see that it has the -10 drop of the MAKO XL, which is weighted like the XL1 not the -11 of the regular MAKO. Which is it for the final answer? Mike
The 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT) features the same specs as the regular MAKO (YB15MK) but it features the rotating handle. Both bats feature a balanced swing weight (seen in the S1), as well as an extended barrel design (seen in the XL1). The new MAKO XL (YB15MKX) bat has replaced the Youth XL1 of years past. The main difference between the MAKO XL and XL1 is that the MAKO XL features Easton's top of the line TCT Thermo composite barrel (in place of the IMX composite used in the XL1). This model will be end loaded and features a -10 drop weight.
Tessa
Is this bat little league approved? schill
Yes, the 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT) is approved for Little League.
Brandon
I have a 11 year old what size bat do you recommend? joe
The size of bat that would be appropriate for your player would be based more on their size rather than age. Players that age can vary greatly in their size and thus what size would be best.
Patrick
Is it allowed for 15u? dylan casper
It is always best to check with league officials first, but the 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT) is not legal for 15u. Typically, 15u players are required to use the BBCOR version of the MAKO TORQ which is 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB15MKT).
Jason
My son is 54.5 inches tall and weighs 70.5 pounds. He is 11 years old but will be 12 in the 2015 season. What size bat do you recommend? JR
Based on your son's height and weight, we would suggest a 29 inch size of the 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT).
Patrick
What length and weight would you recommend for a 10 year old that weighs 110 lbs. and is 58" tall? tom
The weight that your player would be comfortable using is tough for us to make a suggestion on, as it's based more on the player's strength. But based on his height and weight, a 30" model would be our recommendation. In regards to bat weight, we typically recommend keeping the jump in weight between seasons to 1-2 ounces. Although balanced, this 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT) has a -10 length to weight ratio, so it will be on the higher end of the weight spectrum for the Youth category.
Mac
Is this bat approved for Cal Ripken ages 10-12 yrs old? steve
The 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT) would be approved for Cal Ripken league for the 10-12 age groups.

How do you re-grip this bat? Should I just overlap it over the existing grip? I am nervous about screwing up the handle. Thenextharper
Easton has replacement grips available for the 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT) and should be able to instruct you on how to apply the replacement grips to the bat without damaging it.
Patrick
Is this a big barrel youth bat? JRB
The 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT) has a 2 1/4 inch barrel diameter and would not be considered a big barrel design. It does have an extended barrel length for a bigger sweet spot though.
Patrick
What is the difference between the 2014 Easton Mako and the 2015 Easton Mako? Bill
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) will be identical to the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK), other than updated graphics and being this year's model.

Other than those differences, the bats will be identical in regards to construction.

i just bought the bat for Christmas. We have already tried it but the bat seems tight and does not spin freely. I heard that they are supposed to be loose, is there a problem with the bat? rick

Joe
I'm very curious about the rotating handle technology. Can you give more information about how rotating is better than the normal? WildThing
This TORQ piece on the handle of the 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT) rotates to allow the wrists and knuckles to stay in proper alignment. The handle rotates to promote a fully extended swing by allowing the wrists to move freely, the MAKO TORQ technology gets the barrel to the zone faster and keeps it in the zone longer, allowing the hitter to square up more pitches, more often with explosive power.
Tom
Is the MAKO made in the USA? cra*cake
The 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT) is made in China.
Patrick
What does the rotating handle do with your swing? Anthony Street
The rotating handle of the 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT) helps to promote a fully extended swing, with the top palm facing down, and the bottom palm facing up. By allowing the wrists to move freely, the MAKO TORQ technology gets the barrel to the zone faster and keeps it in the zone longer, allowing the hitter to square up for more pitches, more often with explosive power.
Liz
Does this bat come in a 2 3/4" barrel or just the 2 5/8" barrel? CJ
Unfortunately, the 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT) only comes in a 2 1/4" barrel and the 2 5/8" barrel.
Liz
Is it a skinny barrel? SeanJon
The 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT) does feature a 2 1/4" barrel diameter which is the default size.
Joe
Is the MAKO TORQ handle supposed to be very loose or stiff? By loose I mean can you spin it and it will spin on its own? Ryan
The 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT) is going to have a stiffer design so that it only rotates when you make it.
Allison

I am 11. I got my Torq about a week and a half ago and the handle is as stiff as ever. I tried my friends Torq and it spun perfectly fine. Is my bat defective? Nick the Slick
If you are having issues with the handle spinning on the 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT) it may be an issue with how the bat is put together. You would want to call Easton at 888-259-1297 and they should be able to let you know how to get it repaired or replaced.
Patrick

Patrick
Can you break your MAKO TORQ? Liam Franz

I have 2 sons. Both are wanting this bat. One is age 10, 4 foot 7 inches and weighs 101 pounds. My other son is age 7, 4 foot tall, and 102 pounds. My youngest is stronger than my oldest. would this bat work for both boys or do they need different sizes? I would prefer to only buy one. Boy mom
Based on their height and weight, we would recommend a 30 inch size for the 10 year old and a 29 inch size for the 7 year old of the 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT). However, if the 7 year old is fairly strong for his size, you may be able to get away with both players using a 30 inch model. This would put more use on the bat though and may shorten the useful lifespan compared to if just one player had been using it.

Does the rotating handle really help? frank baseball
The 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT) rotating handle does improve the speed swing for a player.
Frankie
Can I take off the bat tape and change it? logan
The 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT) has its own grip tape that is a two part tape job. The rotating part of the handle is taped separately from the rest of the handle to allow the rotation. If you prefer to re-tape the bat, you would want to cut the tape and do a two part tape job to keep the rotation.

My son is 15 and weighs 155 pounds. What size do you recommend? frank
The size of 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT) your player would need would be based on a combination of their height and weight. If you could provide both, we may be able to more accurately size your player. In general, by age 15, most leagues will require the use of a BBCOR certified model like the 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB15MKT).
Patrick

Begin by swinging at about 50% power and increase your bat speed as you go, making sure to rotate the barrel a 1/4" after each swing to ensure complete barrel coverage.

Based on your sons height and weight I would recommend getting the 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT) in a 29 inch.

Is the youth size TORQ BBCOR approved? Does it need to be? TeamG
No, the 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT) is not BBCOR certified. It is tested a different set of performance standards, so it will not have the BBCOR stamp on it. BBCOR bats will have a -3 drop weight, a .50 BBCOR stamp on it, and will also have a 2 5/8" barrel diameter. The Youth TORQ does not meet these requirements, thus making it ineligible for the BBCOR stamp.

Is this bat 'balanced' or 'end-loaded'? This bat appears to be identical to the 2015 Easton XL which replaced the old yellow XLI, which is 'end-loaded'. However, I have also been told that the first 2015 *PRE-BOOKED* lime Easton Torq"s bats were balanced, and later end-loaded. Which is it? Thanks. littleleaguepop

Would you recommend this bat vs a DeMarini CF7 or MAKO -11 2015 bat for a 12 year old bigger kid? He is 5'7" and over 115 lbs. He does have a good swing but at times rolls his wrist. franco
All of the bats mentioned, the Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat: YB15MKT, DeMarini CF7 Youth Baseball Bat: DXCFL, and the Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB15MK would be great options to consider for a player of your son's height and weight. All of these bats will be two-piece, fully composite bats with a balanced swing weight.
