Lack of Pop ... parent

Pros: Durable

Cons: No pop off of the bat. The ball almost seems to deaden upon contact.

Awesome bat at this price point Ryan H coach

Pros: Large sweet spot, lots of pop. First few hits sounded dead, but once he adjusted to the new bat (heavier and longer than what he was used to) and found the sweet spot, he was drilling them. Lots of pop, improved power, nice solid ping when connecting. My son has incredible speed swinging this vs a BB bat.

Cons: Son had some stinging at BP, but this is a new bat, and longer than what he is used to. His old bat was a 1 piece like this, I think he just needed to learn where the sweet spot was to get around the stinging, and he takes a lot of reps/hits in a short time, so I dont think this is a fault with the bat.

Purchased my 7yr. old son the 28" 18 oz. 2014 DeMarini big barrel a few weeks ago and it is a little too heavy for him. How does this bat compare to the Easton Reflex? Looking for something light (perhaps the 27" 14 oz.) Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks. hoggmtn
The 2014 Easton S500: YB14S500 Youth replaced the Easton Reflex. It uses the same alloy material and will be similar in feel and performance.
Kara
My son is 5 years old and currently uses a 27" 14 oz. Reflex. I believe the 2012 model, black in color. He is tall for his age and gets the bat around pretty good. More of a contact hitter rather than power. I am wondering if the 28" 15 oz. would be too large or a good fit for him? Griffjr
Try using our at coach to size your son. You can find it in the link. If it says to get him a 27" bat you might just go to a 27" 15 oz. bat. http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Noah
My son has a tough time with stinging. Will this bat be good for him? kr
One-piece bats like the 2014 Easton S500: YB14S500 Youth typically have more sting than a two-piece bat. We recommend a bat with a composite handle to eliminate vibration. The 2013 Easton S2: YB13S2 Youth would be an excellent option.
Kara

The 2014 Easton S500: YB14S500 Youth bat is a one-piece alloy model where the 2014 Easton S500C is a two-piece alloy model. Here is a link for further comparison http://www.justbats.com/compare/

Tori
Is this like the MAKO? Donch
The 2014 Easton S500 (YB14S500 Youth) is significantly different from the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK Youth). The S500 is a one-piece aluminum design and the MAKO is a two-piece composite design. Both models have a balanced swing weight but the S500 has a -13 length to weight ratio and the MAKO has a -11 length to weight ratio.
John H
Is this a speed or power bat? Lex
The 2014 Easton S500 YB14S500 Youth has a balanced swing weight typically preferred by contact hitters who generally hit for speed versus power.
Tessa L.
My son is 4'11" and is 10 years old and weighs 105 lbs. He's stocky and a slow at bat but makes contact. What bat would you suggest? Jes
The 2014 Easton S500 (YB14S500) is a very balanced bat. It would be a great option for a player who needs to increase their at speed. We recommend a 30" 17 oz. for his height and weight.
Kara
I just purchased this bat and need to know if it is stamped under ASA 2000 or ASA 2004 guidelines. bebebat
This 2014 Easton S500: (YB14S500) Youth is a Youth Baseball bat and does not carry any ASA performance certification mark/stamp. However, the 2014 Easton S500: (FP14S500) Fastpitch is a fastpitch softball bat and it carries the 2004 ASA stamp like all other 2014 fastpitch models being made. If you did purchase this Youth model and need a Faspitch bat, you can find everything you need for an exchange in this link: https://www.justbats.com/returns/

My son is 7 years old, 46in tall and 60lbs. He is moving up to the pitching machine league this year. Thinking of purchasing him a 28in 15oz bat. Trying to decide between the S500 and the Easton Reflex LX73. Suggestions? The comparison option didn't provide much input. Gravy127
The 2014 Easton S500: YB14S500 replaced the Easton Reflex. They both use the same 7050 alloy and are very balanced. The balanced design is great for a younger player.
Kara
Is there enough of a difference between the performance of the Easton S500 and the Easton Reflex LX73 to justify the price difference? Or is it primarily just a change in appearance? CLD237
The main difference between the two items are the graphics. The 2014 Easton S500 ( YB14S500) and the (LX73) will be similar in performance and durability.
Kara
How does this bat compare to the Typhoon model YB13TY? Justin
The 2014 Easton S500 Youth Baseball Bat (YB14S500) and the Easton Typhoon Youth Baseball Bat (YB13TY) will be very similar in terms of overall design and performance. They are both balanced, one-piece alloy designs. The S500 has a slightly upgraded 7050 Aircraft Alloy that will have a bit more durability than the 7046 Aircraft Alloy.
