Description

Last season's hottest new bat is back with even more to be excited about! The all new Surge is now BBCOR approved and sacrifices no quality along the way! This two-piece design features a barrel made with Easton's new THT100 Aluminum, and an IMX Composite handle. This exclusive new THT100 Alloy has 100ksi strength and extraordinary toughness for superior dent and crack resistance. We're talking about a real game changer here. The IMX or Integrated Matrix Technology strengthens and optimizes the composite structure, giving you a bat with incredible performance and extreme durability. This durability is even further enhanced by Easton's CNT or Carbon NanoTube Technology. The CNT enhances the proprietary resin system in their composite bats, creating the longest lasting bats in the industry. The Surge also features Easton's patented ConneXion Design System which optimizes performance using "hinge" technology for efficient energy transfer and flex. The ConneXion design separates the barrel from the handle which creates an expanded hitting surface and completely eliminates any chance of sting or vibration. Another new technology introduced in the Surge is Brace Barrel. This design locates critical points in the barrel to achieve BBCOR compliance while minimizing swing weight. This results in a lower M.O.I., meaning the player will notice a lighter swing weight and faster swing speed. The Easton Surge is BBCOR Certified and is approved for high school and collegiate play. Easton: Know-Feel-Be The Difference. The Surge is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: very little vibration (even if the ball is hit on the end of the bat), even weight distribution that allows for a comfortable grip and feel in hands (all other bbcor bats are top heavy), seems to last (no flat spots after using like the omaha

Cons: unfortunately it is still a bbcor bat. arguably the worst sounding bat in the game. the barrel seems to flex maybe too much at times with faster pitching. maybe not as much "pop" as say the omaha (giving up some pop for the even weight distribution is worth it).

Pros: I always thought that BBCOR bats would be horrible. After using this bat in a game, it changed my thought about them. First at bat i got an rbi single. Second at bat, i had a deep bomb it to the center fielder. BBCOR is just as good as BESR. Only a small difference.

Cons: I changed the grip. Not a big deal. Other than that, excellent bat.

Pros: Wow! I must say that the BAD reviews about this bat are mostly incorrect! I grabbed the bat and hit about 40 balls off the tee in the cages yesterday. I wanted to break the bat in a little. I was Impressed, so I let my son use it during BP and he said it felt amazing. The sound is definitely NOT I repeat NOT BBCORish. The ball flies off the bat. It sounds more like a Composite/BBCOR if you can imagine that. Look forward to seeing him use it this Fall league season.

Cons: NONE! I repeat NONE! I am very picky on how I spend my money, especially when it comes buying these expensive bats that are out there today. Don't let the price fool you! Better yet buy the bat pack Surge/Combat 52 Caliber!

Pros: Good bat while it lasted. Has a lot of pop and a nice size sweet spot. Looks good too

Cons: Grip tape starts falling apart and coming off within the first couple of weeks of using the bat. I bought 2 of these bats within a 4 month period and the middle CXN peice came lose and broke on both bats. It is a weak bat when it comes to durability

Pros: I got this bat for Christmas (31/28) and I love it. The grip is amazing, and it has nice pop. Even-weighted until you get the 33/30. Love the sound of the bat. My fav is the 5150 Velo, and then this. Excellent bat.

Cons: Are you kidding me? Absolutely none!

Pros: Awesome bat, hits better than all other Easton's (S1, S2, and S3). Doesn't sound good, but has unbelievable pop!

Cons: The glue that keeps the top on chips and makes it rattle. Not a problem. Just is annoying.

Pros: This bat looks amazing and feels amazing through the zone. It's an amazing buy. The grip tape is cool and has great grip even without gloves.

Cons: The tape unravels easily. The connection piece slides on and off in the center but nothing that will really effect the performance. Like I said, it's great buy!

Pros: 3rd time buying this bat, 2nd BBCOR model. 1st BBCOR started rattling 2 weeks into my fall season but didn't affect performance at all. Buying a 2nd one just for game use. Love the grip, look, feel, and pop in this bat.

Cons: None, I will continue to buy this bat for the rest of my college career if it's available

Pros: Didn't break.

Cons: Unfortunately this is one of the worst bat purchases we have ever made. My son is now 14 and we have jumped from DeMarini, to Easton, to Louisville Slugger TPX to Rawlings 5150. When he was young I bought the most expensive thinking it was the best. Now he's at the bbcor age and swings a Davy Jones Proteus wood and the Rawlings 5150. The Easton Surge was the one bat he ever swung where I could see, from the first hit, that nothing happened. It's a dead 2x4. It feels heavier than its rated. Just a waste of money. He used it during a couple of cage sessions and now we have it propped in a corner. Just an all around bad bat.

Pros: Good pop, not the best, but good for price. Nice slight, end loaded feel for that bit of extra swing speed.

Cons: BREAKS-IN VERY EASY. I've gone through two. One lasted a month, and the other only one practice. Most likely won't buy another because of this. Get a couple in a pack if you really want this bat.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton Surge BBCOR Baseball Bat: BGS2? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Will this bat be allowed in the 2012 High School baseball season? nick
Yes, the Easton Surge is eligible for 2012 high school baseball. All schools will have to use BBCOR bats. The Surge is BBCOR approved.
Brett
A lot of Reviewers are saying that this bat breaks easily is this true? Willie
I haven't seen or heard of an overwhelming amount of Easton Surge BGS2's breaking.
JH
Is this one of the best BBCOR bats available? jackson m
The Easton Surge BBCOR is a great bat that is under $300. This is going to be a bat that is going to have a lot of pop. The Easton Omen and DeMarini CF5 are going to be our best selling BBCOR bats.
Todd
What is the weight distribution like on this bat? jchapmanMB
Based of personal experience and customer feedback, the Easton Surge has just a slight end-loaded feel to it.
John
How does ths bat compare with the BBCOR rival? Ryan
The Easton Surge has more flex, making it a great bat for contact or gap hitters looking to add more pop. The Easton Rival is a stiff, one-piece bat that is beneficial for natural power hitters. Both perform great and have good durability.
John
I've heard the pop on this bat is much lower than the other bbcor's like the new power brigade series. Ive also personally hit with both and this bats pop isn't near. Any reasons? PlayerHater
The Easton Surge was one of the first BBCOR bats to hit the market and it's possible that it was not quite perfected at the time of release. The newer BBCOR bats seem to be a bit more lively.
Dave
On other websites with reviews of BBCOR bats, there are numerous complaints that the $300 Easton Surge breaks at the ribbed center section. There are a profound number of people that say "don't buy this bat," but your website doesn't have these comments. JROY
From the customer feedback we have received, the Easton Surge is a very durable bat. We have not had very many returned for warranty purposes.
Mark
What bat would u say is better the Easton Surge BBCOR or the Easton XL2? ti
That depends on what type of hitter you are. The Easton XL2 will feel a little more end loaded than the Easton Surge. If you have high swing speed and are looking to add more power, the XL2 would be a great choice.
Mark
How is the weight balanced on this bat? Is it end loaded or evenly balanced? jchapmanMB
The Easton Surge is an evenly balanced bat.
K.B.
Is the DeMarini M2M better then this bat? ice
The DeMarini M2M is a two-piece alloy bat. The Easton Surge BGS2 is a two-piece bat with a composite handle and alloy barrel giving it more flex than the M2M.
K.B.
Out of the Demarini Voodoo 2012, Demarini CF5, or Easton Surge which would be the better BBCOR? HomeRun#11
It really comes down to personal preference. The DeMarini Voodoo and DeMarini CF5 may have a very slight endload while the Surge is pretty balanced. They are all durable with good pop.
Mark
I am very close to buying this but I just read how it is flexible isnt good for a power hitter, which I am. So I am at a deadend whether or not to buy this. Is there really that much flex in this bat compared to maybe a Rival? nmoney
No, the Easton Surge BGS2 has just about the same amount of flex. The Surge is a pretty stiff bat, good for power hitters.
Mark
Surge or Voodoo Black? I'm a contact hitter. Shades
Both the Easton Surge and DeMarini Voodoo are two-piece bats and would be good options for a contact hitter.
K.B.
Is this bat stiff flex? Trex
Yes, the Easton Surge does have a stiff flex which gives the player more power.
KG
What bat hit better/ has a better feel, this Surge or the easton S2? rorororo
Both bats are going to be very comparable, the S2 should have a little more pop than the Surge
Sean
Would this be a good bat to buy? Or can i get a better bat for under $300? e16
If you are looking for a high-quality, two-piece bat, this is a great option. One-piece alloy bats will be a little less expensive.
K.B.
Will a BBCOR bat approved for HS play be allowed for use in USSSA 13u? Dad
Yes, the Surge can be used for USSSA play.
John
Is this a 2012 model Surge? Why is the bat pack $30 cheaper than the individual bat? Rob
The Easton Surge BGS2 is a 2011 model.
TJ
Trying to decide between Voodoo and Surge. Which one is more durable with pop? big cat
The DeMarini Voodoo and Easton Sure are both great models with similar pop.
Sean
Would you choose this bat or the new 2012 Nike Aero Thunder Fuse? Because the price difference is 100. $99 (Nike) and $199 (Surge). Is the full $100 worth it? Crosby
Well the biggest difference is one-piece vs two-piece hybrid. The Surge offers the flex of a two-piece, the Nike offers the new MeC-30 Energy Collision Alloy, tough stuff! One-piece bats generally have a stiffer flex.
Linda
Is this bat comparable to the new XL2? Has there been any changes to this model from 2011 to 2012? JJD
The Easton S2 replaced the Surge. The major difference is the S2 is going to be lighter for quicker bat speed. The XL2 model is end loaded.
K.B.
How is this compared to the Omaha? chaz
The Louisville Slugger Omaha is a one-piece alloy, the Easton Surge is a two-piece hybrid with a composite handle and alloy barrel.
Linda
Will BESR certified bats be legal in Pony in the 2012-2013 season? VLO
No. All Adult bats must be BBCOR certified.
Kara
Does it have an extra inch barrel like the xl seriers? chas
The Easton Surge does not have an extended barrel like the XL2. The Surge's design is more like the Easton S2.
Shelbe
Is this the 2012 model called the x stiff and if so which is better the x stiff or the 2011 surge? Eastonbb
The replacement for the BBCOR Surge is the Easton XL2..They made the XL2 with more barrel mass and more of a end-loaded feel. It is going to be for guys looking to get more power in thier swing
Ryan
Does this Bat Pack come with the BBCOR .50 Stamp? My Son is going to play Pony Ball this upcoming season and I would like for him to be able to use the bats next year as well. Thanks Keith
Yes, the Easton Surge is BBCOR certified and features the BBCOR .50 stamp.
Shelbe
Since it is a bat pack, (I know bat packs sometimes come with misprints) can it be garenteed that it will have the BBCOR stamp? matt
Yes, the Easton Surge has the BBCOR stamp on the barrel.
Brad
If I broke this bat and send it back which bat will I get back? smalls
Your Easton Surge is covered by a one-year manufacturers warranty. If your Surge is damaged, you'll want to send it back to Easton and they'll send you a new bat.
Brad
In the batpack, is the 34" 31 oz the only size available for all the bats jordan
Yes, these Easton Surge sizes are the only ones we have available in the bat packs at the moment.
Brad
Which bat would you recomend this one or the Omen? freefit22
Both the Easton Surge BGS2 and the Easton Omen are high-quality bats. They are different in design. If you prefer a composite bat then the Omen is the way to go. The Surge is a two-piece bat with an alloy barrel and composite handle. The Omen will take time to break in. The Surge will be hot out of the wrapper.
Kara
What is the difference between the Surge in this pack, and the 149 dollar single Surge? treefiddy
There is no differences in the Easton Surge in the bat pack or the one sold by itself. They are exactly the same, but the one in the bat pack are available in limited sizes.
Brad
Will there ever be a better selection of sizes for this bat pack? I want to buy it but I swing a 33/30 Brandon
Unfortunately, the Easton Surge is discontinued and there will not be any additional sizes in stock. The S2 and XL2 are the newest models from Easton that have replaced the Surge.
Tyler
Am I able to use this in USSSA tournament play? lynam17
The Easton Surge is BBCOR certified, so it is good to go in USSSA play.
Tyler
Is it a bad thing when the bat starts to rattle? none
The rattle in the Easton Surge is not a bad thing and will not affect the performance. The end caps are usually put on bats using epoxy, and sometimes pieces of that epoxy will drip when it is wet, then eventually break off when it dries out after being used.
Jennifer
When will more sizes be in stock? jeff
The Easton Surge is a discontinued bat so we will not be getting anymore in stock. I suggest checking out the Easton S2. This is the bat Easton produced to replace the Surge and they will basically be the same bats.
Jennifer
Is this a good bat to last long and has good pop? eli
Bats do not really have a set life span since there are a lot of factors that go into how long a bat will last. For example, how many people use the bat, how often it is used, if the proper care has been taken with the bat, etc. However, we have not heard of any durability issues regarding the Easton Surge. Also, based on customer feedback, this bat has pretty good pop.
Alex
My Easton Surge got a very small paint chip right at the top of the barrel. Hard to notice but happened just 10 days after I bought it. I was just wondering if it is still legal or not to play or should I send it back in for a new one. Tan14
I can tell you from plenty of experience, paint chips are completely normal. This will not make the Easton Surge illegal and it will not effect the performance or integrity of the bat.
Tyler
Is the Easton Surge balanced or end loaded? Dalton
The Easton Surge is more of a balanced bat. The weight is distributed evenly and it does not have an end loaded feel.
Jennifer
My bat is rattling, it does not seem to be a big deal in terms of performance, but if i used the warrenty which bat would i get? I read rattle was covered by the warrenty Bomber
If there is a rattle inside the bat, it would be covered under the 12 month manufacturers warranty. Most likely they still have the BBCOR Surge in backstock for the returns. Here is the number to Easton if you would like to contact them. (888) 259-1297
Derek
Hi, I'm 13, 5'8" and weigh 160 lbs. I wanted to know if a -3 bat is too heavy for me? Also, I struggle a little with my bat speed, and was looking for something bigger because i have a combat grifter -12. kobe m.
If you struggle with bat speed, I would say an Adult -3 bat would be a little too heavy for you right now. I would recommend looking at a -8 or -5 youth big barrel bat before you transition to a -3.
Tyler
Hi, I'm 5'10" and about 135 lbs. I was wondering if a 33" 30 oz. would be alright for my size. I swing my -3 Nike Aero Fuse BESR bat fairly well and that is mostly end loaded. matt_mccar
If you can already swing a 33" 30 oz. in the Nike Aero Fuse, the Easton Surge BBCOR, which is also slightly end loaded, would be a good choice.
Kara
I need a new Power Brigade bat. I've been swinging this bat for 2 years. Which bat will feel the same as this? Simalar swing weight, pop Surge fanboy
The Easton S2 BBCOR replaced the Easton Surge BBCOR bat. They will have a similar swing weight and pop.
Kara
Hi, I'm 6'4", and 225 lbs. I've been playing with a -5 bat for a while. Do you think this would be okay to transition to? kjh23
The Easton Surge would be a great transition BBCOR bat for a contact hitter.
Kara
I am more of a power hitter, which one is for me, Surge or Omen? SlickRick
The Easton Surge and Easton Omen are great bats for power hitters and either one is a good choice. If you like a more balanced bat, the Omen has a composite barrel and composite handle making it feel more light in weight which gives you a faster swing speed. Choosing between these two will all depend on what you feel most comfortable swinging, composite or alloy.
Kris
I'm 5 feet and 113 lbs. What size is best for me and alot more on the musclar side? b boy
A 31" 28oz Easton Surge BBCOR bat would be recommended based on your size.
Tyler
I'm 5'7 and 140 lbs. What weight and length should I use? Cobra dude
Based on your height and weight we suggest a 32" 29oz Easton Surge BBCOR.
Kara
The CXN piece on my Easton Surge is able to be moved up and down, is that normal? bob
The CXN piece moving up and down does happen occasionally. The CXN piece will not change the performance of the Easton Surge BBCOR.
Kara
Is this bat good for a contact hitter? Chris
Yes, the Easton Surge is a two-piece hybrid design with a composite handle and alloy barrel and a great bat for a contact hitter.
Tyler
Is the Easton Surge BBCOR:BGS2 allowed in Little League Minor/Majors? Buckey
No. The Majors Division has a barrel diameter limit of 2 1/4 inches. The Easton Surge BBCOR BGS2 exceeds that and will not be legal.
Tyler
I'm 5 ft 4 and 120 lbs, which size should I use? sweet spot
Based on your height and weight, a 31" Easton Surge BBCOR would be recommended.
Tyler
Is the Easton Surge BBCOR:BGS2 allowed in Little League? Buckey
The Easton Surge BBCOR would only be allowed in the Junior Division of Little League.
Kara
Is this bat legal in high school play? taylor
Yes. The Easton Surge BGS2 is a BBCOR bat and legal in high school.

Yes. All bats in this pack will be BBCOR certified and legal for high school and college play.
Kris
Would anyone happen to know when/if a new BBCOR Surge is coming out? colin
The Easton Surge is a discontinued model and will no longer be produced. Easton's new version of the Surge is called the Easton S2. Here is a link to take a closer look at the Easton S2. http://www.justbats.com/product/easton-s2-bbcor--bb11s2-adult/14438/
Tom
Is this bat BBCOR -3. That's what my son has to have. terri
Yes. Any BBCOR bat will meet your criteria. Anytime you see "BBCOR" in the product title, it will meet your needs.
Tyler
Whats better the Easton Surge or the Easton S2? android21
Depends on the hitter, their preferences and hitting style. The S2 was made to replace the Surge, but the S2 has a slightly lighter swing weight. It really depends on what type of bat the hitter is looking for.
Tyler
What's the difference between the Surge and the Omen? jh
The Easton Surge is a two-piece hybrid design. It will have an alloy barrel and composite handle. The Easton Omen is a two-piece full composite design.
John
What are the lightest swinging BBCOR out of the EXO2, Z-1000, Surge, 2012 Voodoo and 2012 Vexxum? jack
Between those three, I would say that the Z-100 is the most evenly balanced and will offer a slightly lighter swing weight than the Voodoo or Vexxum.
Tyler
Will I need to break in this bat? jh
The Easton Surge has an alloy barrel and won't require a full break-in period like a full composite bat.
Tyler
Can you tell me the difference between the Surge BGS2, Rawlings 5150 and Easton S2. I'm looking at a 31/28? Especially, between the BGS2 and S3. Mike
The Easton Surge and the Easton S2 are both two-piece bats with composite handles and alloy barrels. (The S2 actually replaced the Surge). The Rawlings 5150 and the Easton S3 are one-piece alloy bats. The 5150 and S3 will be more stiff and are usually better suited for power hitters, while the Surge and S2 will have more flex and are generally better suited for contact hitters.
Jennifer
Which is a better bat this or the Demarini M2M? B
The Easton Surge and the DeMarini M2M are both great two-piece bats. The main difference is that the Easton Surge has a composite handle and the DeMarini M2M has an alloy barrel. Here is a link to further compare the two bats. http://www.justbats.com/compare/
Tom
Why did you drop the price so much honestly? chris
The Surge is a closeout/discontinued model within Easton's line. This happens every year. To make room for the new bats that will be released, prices are routinely lowered.
Tyler
When will you have 31 32 or 33 inch models of this bat as a demo in stock? $urg3
The Easton Surge BBCOR models are discontinued. We will not be getting more in stock. We do not have a set time on when a customer would return a bat to sell as a demo.
Kara
What is a better all around bat the Easton Surge or the Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID 2? The hitter
The Eason Surge and the Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID 2 are both top of the line high performing bats. The Easton Surge is a two-piece hybrid design with a composite handle and an aluminum barrel. The Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID 2 is a one-piece aluminum design with composite inserts in the handle. Here is a link to further compare the two bats. http://www.justbats.com/compare/
Tom
Which bat is better this or the CF5 2012? t
The Easton Surge is a two-piece composite handle and alloy barrel bat and the DeMarini CF5 is a two-piece full composite bat. Both bats are very high quality and both are going to have tremendous pop. You can't go wrong with either one.
Nick K.
How much longer will your website be offering the Easton Surge BBCOR:BGS2 adult? b
As of 6/13/2012, we have a few hundred Easton Surge BGS2 bats remaining in stock. That should be enough to last for several months. I would be unable to give you a specific timeframe though.
Tyler
I'm 5 foot 8 inches and 130 pounds, which length bat would you recommend? MV
A 32" or 33" bat would be good for you. See our sizing chart. http://www.justbats.com/bat-resource-guide/selecting-a-baseballbat/
Damon
What is BBCOR? Jayden242
BBCOR stands for 'Batted Ball Coefficient of Restitution' and it places a limit on how much of a trampoline effect the barrel of a bat has at contact.

Nick K.
Well I am 12 years old and in our league we use about -10 and 30 inch bats. Do you think this could work for me? Miles
The Easton Surge BBCOR bat is an adult bat. Unless your league requires a -3, we would recommend a -10 or -8 bat for your age.
Kara
If the CXN part is twisting from side to side can we get a new one? louie
The CXN piece will not change the performance of the bat. We do not replace that piece. For further information, please contact Easton at 1-888-259-1297

The Easton Reflex: BX72 Adult is the only BESR bat we have available.
Kara

Tyler
I am looking for a BBCOR bat for high school. What is the best BBCOR bat for a contact hitter with power? Nate

Nick K.
I am 5 feet 7 inches tall and 90 pounds. I am playing Babe Ruth Baseball. What length and weight should I have in a BBCOR bat? philsphan2

The Easton Surge BBCOR is slightly end loaded.
Kara
Would you suggest the Easton Surge or the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo? I need a pretty good bat for highschool and I want to get used to it now. Josh
It depends on what kind of hitter you are. The Easton Surge will be a little more balanced than the DeMarini Voodoo. So if you tend to be a contact hitter I would go with the Surge and if you are a power hitter go with the Voodoo.
