Description

New for The next generation of Power Brigade has arrived. Now in its second season, this groundbreaking line of bats is unlike anything else on the field today. The concept is simple: Help players hit for power. However, Easton realizes that different players achieve a powerful swing in different ways. That's why the Power Brigade is divided into two distinct series - the XL Series (XL1, XL2, and XL3) and the Speed Series (S1, S2, and S3). The XL Series is designed for bigger, stronger hitters who derive their power from a bat with more mass. Smaller length to weight ratios, and an extra-long barrel with a massive sweet spot and a slight end load characterize the XL Series. The Speed Series, on the other hand, helps players increase their swing speed in order to generate more power. These bats feature lighter length to weight ratios, a lower M.O.I., and a balanced feel. Further trying to equip players with their perfect bat, Easton offers all of its Power Brigade bats in a two-piece IMX Composite/SIC Black Carbon design (XL1, S1), a two-piece IMX Composite/THT100 Scandium Alloy hybrid design (XL2, S2), and a one-piece THT Scandium Alloy design (XL3, S3). Two of the highest performing materials ever used on a bat, Easton's patented IMX Composite optimizes the sweet spot for maximum performance, while their THT Scandium Alloy provides solid durability and allows for a larger alloy sweet spot than is seen anywhere else on the field. Throw in an array of additional world-class Easton technology, and you've got a line of bats that can't be topped. Easton: Personalize Your Power! The XL1 features the new USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp. It is backed by Easton's Exclusive 400 Day Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: My 13yr old loves this bat! Of course, I couldn't get any specific pros out of a 13 yr old, but he did say there weren't any cons :-) All 3 of our boys have used Easton S bats for the last few years and they have all been 5 star! We will probably never use anything else.

Pros: This bat is amazing. Even though there is a considerable difference once you have broken the bat in there is pop right out of the wrapper. They changed the composite in the handle which is supposed to be more durable and seems to be, I had an Easton surge and the handle literally snapped in half in my hands, so I hope it will last longer. This is very sturdy and solid for a 2 piece bat and continues to impress me.

Cons: This may be a con for some people but it doesn't really bug me, the paint being matte marks very easily and around the end cap some paint chips off.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton XL1 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL13X15? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Will this bat be good for a strong contact hitter? bhomer
Yes. The 2013 Easton XL1 will be a great two-piece fully composite bat that would work well for a strong contact hitter.
Tom
How many swings to break it in? bj
A proper break-in period entails 150-200 hits off a tee starting at about 40% power and gradually increasing. The player will also need to rotate the bat a little between each hit to ensure an even break-in across the entire surface of the barrel.
Tyler
Is the weight evenly distributed or is it top heavy? Russ
The XL1 is going to have a little more of an endloaded feel, because of the extended barrel size. By having more mass in the barrel, you will generate more power in your swing. If your looking for a more balanced bat, you would want to look at the S1 in the Speed series. Here is the link to compare the features of each bat. http://www.justbats.com/product/easton-xl1-bbcor--bb11x1-adult/14436/?pa_source=justbats&pa_campaign=was&pa_medium=badges&pa_content=easton-xl1-bbcor--bb11x1-adult http://www.justbats.com/product/--pre-book---2013-easton-s1-bbcor--bb13s1-adult/15981/
Derek
Would it be a good choice for someone going into high school soon? KJ
It would depend on if your a power hitter, compared to a base hitter. Your XL1 series will be better suited for a home run hitter, because of the extendwed barrel and endloaded feel. The S1 having a more balanced swing weight would be a better choice for the placement or base hitter. Here are links to both bats to compare. http://www.justbats.com/product/--pre-book---2013-easton-s1-bbcor--bb13s1-adult/15981/ http://www.justbats.com/product/--pre-book---2013-easton-xl1-bbcor--bb13x1-adult/15980/
Derek
Is this bat anything like the Easton Omen? DJ
Both the Easton Omen and theEaston XL1: SL13X15 Senior League baseball bats are two piece fully composite bats, however; the XL1 has an extra-long barrel and a slightly endloaded swing weight for added power. The bats are also made out of different composite materials as well.
Jeff
When will I get it if I pre-order it now? Tommy
The Pre-Book Easton's will ship out November 14th with free 2nd day air.
Tom
I am interested in this bat but would need it by October 25th. When do you think you will have them? I am looking at a 32/27. Grandslam
The 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League bat will not be released to ship until November 14. We will provide Free Two Day Air on our PRE-BOOK.
Brandon
Why do composite bat require break-in time? grandyman
The carbon fibers that make up a composite barreled bat need to be broken down first to begin the getting the trampoline effect which is what gives your bat good pop off the barrel.
Tom
I am 5 11 and 90 lbs. Would this be good 4 me? anonymous
Yes. The 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 is a great bat with excellent pop.
Tyler
Will this bat have a lot of pop? jman
Yes, the 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League bat will have a lot of pop. This bat will require you to break it in with 100-200 swings. Hitting off of a tee or soft toss while rotating the barrel. As the composite materials get more and more broken in you will see better and better results and added pop. It also will feature Easton's Massive Sweet Spot design.
Brandon
Which bat would be better for a contact hitter the Marraci Black 2 or the Easton XL1? aplan
The Marucci Black 2: MSBB25 Senior League bat would be the better selection to fit your needs as a contact hitter. It will be a Two-Piece Hybrid Design with an Alloy barrel and Composite handle. This bat will have a Evenly Balanced Swing Weight and an Extended Barrel for a larger Sweet Spot. The 2013 XL1: SL13X15 Senior League bat would be a Two-Piece all Composite design. This bat would require a period of break-in. Plus, this bat will have a barrel heavy end loaded feel to its swing weight. Typically, power hitters like the XL3.
Brandon
What type of hitter will this benefit? bplan
The 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 is an end-loaded bat that is best suited for hitters with above average strength and swing speed.
Tyler
What is the highest drop weight the Easton XL1 Senior League will be available at? JB
The 2013 Easton XL1 Senior League models will be available in -5 and -8 length to weight ratios.
Tom
I use the xl3 last year but learn that one piece bats are for power hitters and am a contact hitter would it be a good switch from the xl3 to the xl1? Kj
It's always recommend that a player stick with the same type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to have continued success at the plate. Thus, I think you should stick with the XL3 as it's still a endloaded bat great for power hitters.
Tyler
What's the difference between composite bats and aluminum bats? tofly
Composite bats require a break-in period, and they will keep their pop longer after being broke in. Aluminum bats are going to be hot right out of the wrapper, but every time you use the bat it is going to gradually start having less pop.
Noah
What bat has more pop the XL1 or 2013 voodoo, and which has a longer barrel? ty
Based off reviews the 2012 Easton XL1 has more pop than the 2013 DeMarini Voodoo. The Easton XL1 will also have a larger barrel with more of an extended sweet spot.
Noah
will you get this bat in a 32 inch? ty
Yes, *the 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League baseball bat will be available in a 32" size.
Jeff
Many teams already have it is there any way to get it early? Ak
Unfortunately, we cannot ship any of the 2013 Power Brigade bats until 11/15.
Tyler
When will you get the 32 in bat in? Tylerc20
All sizes of the 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 will be in stock and ready to ship by 11/15.
Tyler
Is this going to have a massive sweet spot as the last year model did? justswingit
The 2013 Easton XL1 has an extended barrel for a large massive sweet spot.
Kara
My son is 12 years old, 5'3"and 105 lbs. He hit bombs with a 2011 LL Omen LNC2XL 31" 21oz. bat last season. Now that LL is over for him, what Easton bat would have similar performance? gmoney
That Omen that your son was swinging was a Two-Piece all composite designed bat. Easton will have a 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League bat coming out. It is being released November 14, 2012. This bat will be a Two-Piece all composite design. It comes with a full 400 day manufacturer warranty from Easton. This bat will feature a Massive Sweet Spot and an Extra Long Barrel that will be slightly End Loaded. The XL1 is typically loved by power hitters.
Brandon
What does flex mean? dont know
When you swing a two-piece bat through the zone, it will actually flex more than a one-piece bat causing a whip-like effect. In theory, this whip-like effect causes extra distance when contact is made. However, some players prefer the stiffer feel of a one-piece bat. It really comes down to the preference of the player.
Tyler
Is the weight lighter then last years model? steven1
No, the 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League is end loaded just like the 2012 model.
Zach
Will Easton make a 32 inch drop 5 for this Xl1? GUMBOW34
Yes, the 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League bat is manufactured in a 32" model. We will have all sizes in stock for shipment on 11/15.
Aubrey
I' 5' 4" and about 105 pounds. I'm more of a contact hitter. I've been using the XL2 but I want to try a composite bat this time. Would the XL1 be good for me? My swing is also not so fast. harold
The 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 is an end loaded bat, better for a player with quick bat speed. We recommend the 2013 Easton S1: SL13S110.
Kara
I am 5'6" and 120 pounds and a lead off hitter with a fast swing and some pop, will this bat be good for me? bswag
The 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League would definitely be a good option. It is suited for a player with above average swing speed as it has a slight end load.
Aubrey
Is there any difference between the 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League bat and the 2012 version other then the color. rgscowboys
The new 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League features, a 400 day manufactures warranty, and a new more durable composite for the handle. The older model has a 12 month warranty, and the same composite in the handle and the barrel.
Ryan
I'm 5'7 and weight 170 I got a fast bat speed and can drive the ball. Do you think this bat is good for me. Thanks. BigB
Yes. The 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League bat will be endloaded with great pop, making it a good option for players like yourself.
Tyler
I'm 4'10",14 years old with good swing speed. Would this bat be good for me? Mackman5000
Yes, the 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League would be a good choice. The recommended bat length for your height would be 31".
Jeff
I'm 5'4", 13 years old. I have good bat speed and can drive the ball. My question is should I get a 31" or a 32"? JACKATTACK5
Based on your size, I would suggest a 31" bat. Here is a link to our Bat Resource Guide that can help you choose the right bat size. http://www.justbats.com/bat-resource-guide/selecting-a-baseballbat/
John
Which bat would be similar to the Easton sv12 that's a drop 5 ? Bswag
The Easton SV12 was a hybrid bat. The two most popular -5 hybrid bats currently on the market are the Marucci Black and DeMarini Vexxum.
Tyler
Does this bat have flex? Bswag
Yes, with this **PRE-BOOK** 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League bat being a Two-Piece design. You will get some flex as you swing the bat through the zone. This bat will be 100% Composite so make sure to break it in before you take it into game use. 100-200 swings off of a tee or soft toss while rotating the bat in your hands should work just fine.
Brandon
Where is the 32" 27 oz.? bobo
The 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League bat in a 32" 27 oz. model is currently out of stock. They will be listed on the website when we get them in stock.
Aubrey
What is the kind of grip on the bat called? Big Bat
Performance Diamond Grip
Tyler
I have this bat and the XL3 which bat is better for cold weather? Legend00
Neither, the 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League or the 2013 Easton XL3: SL13X35 Senior League will perform the same. However, when under 50 degrees the baseball becomes more dense and harder in feel. This will, in turn damage the bat. Alloy bats will be easier to see any damage, barrel dents, etc. The Composite barrel bats will damage from the inside out. It will be harder to see any damage on these bats, though it still could happen.
Brandon
Which will have a bigger barrel the XL1 or the DeMarini Voodoo? Bswag
Both the 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League Bat and the 2013 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVDR have a 2 5/8 inch barrel diameter.
Aubrey
I am 5 foot 2 inches about 90 pounds, and 13 years old. I am going to get a bat for another year, should I get a 32 inch or 31 inch? k da great
You should go with a 31" bat, or you could go with a 32" Easton XL1 if you feel like you will be growing more this year.
Noah
My son is playing 11U, is 5' tall and roughly 115-120 lbs. He's the biggest power hitter on the team (several hr's this season) and also hits for average. He's crazy about the new Easton Power Brigade but choosing which one is difficult! He's been using a -10 and we wonder if he could or should move up to the -5 or stay -10 and go with the alloy bats. Help! doulalou
Typically, I see 13 year old players swinging the 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League -5 size bats. This is a transitional size that will prepare them for the Adult -3 BBCOR bats they will be swinging in high school. Try the 2013 XL1 or 2013 XL2. We currently have those in -8 sizing that will be a step up from his current -10 size. There is also a 2013 XL3 that comes in a -9 size. Again, I would recommend him moving into a -8 rather than make the jump to a -5. The 2013 XL1 will be a two-piece all composite bat. The 2013 XL2 will be a two-piece design with an alloy barrel and a composite handle. The 2013 XL3 will be a one-piece all alloy bat. All of these bats are in Easton's Power Brigade and will have a slight end load feel that power hitters tend to love. These bats feature a Full 400 Day Warranty from Easton.
Brandon
Is the Easton XL1 legal in middle school ball? The legend
Yes, as long as your middle school requires USSSA approved bats the Easton XL1 will be legal until you get to high school.
Noah
Is the Easton XL1 drop 5 the same as the 2011 Omen drop 5 ? Cdawg
The Easton S1 and XL1 were made to replace the Omen. They will be similar, but the XL1 will feel more endloaded compared to the Omen.
Tyler
Does the bat sound like a 2011 drop 5 omen? Cameron
Yes. Both are composite bats and will have a similar sound.
Tyler
Is this bat BBCOR approved? A-Rod
No. The 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League bat is not BBCOR approved. Only Adult bats are eligible for BBCOR certification.
Tyler
Am 5'4" tall and 95 pounds. I am a strong contact lead off hitter. Would this bat be a good choice? Bswag
Typically, the 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League bat is for the 12 or 13 year old hitter. This is a transitional -5 size to get the hitter ready to swing the -3 BBCOR bats in high school. At your size the bat length recommended is a 31" bat. The only size currently available offered in this 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League is a 30" 25 oz.
Brandon
When will you be getting a 31" back in stock? Abc
The 31" 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League bat should be back in stock in about two weeks. Feel free to check our website for that, or call us at any time at 1-866-321-2287 to check on the status.
Doug F.
Will you guys get more 32in 27ounces XL1's by Christmas? Brandon
Unfortunately, we do not have a firm ETA from Easton as to when we will be receiving more 32" models.
Tyler
What is the coldst temp. this bat can hit in? Titler
Easton recommends you proceed with caution and limit overall use of the 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 when temperatures are below 55 degrees
Tyler
Why is this bat more expensive than the XL3? Bob
The Easton XL1 is Easton's top of the line bat. The two-piece composites bats cost more to manufacture than a one-piece alloy bat.
Noah
Whats a key difference between the Easton SL and the Easton XL? I'm more of a power hitter who bats 3 in the lineup. My friends have the XL and love it but i guess there's is lat years model. harry
The S Series is more evenly balanced for hitters with average to below average strength and swing speed. The XL Series is more endloaded for hitters with above average swing speed and power.
Tyler
Which would be a great drop in xl1, -5 or -8? Iceman10
The 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League bat will be a -5. This bat is typically used for hitters around the ages of 12-14. This bat is a great transitional size to get the boys used to swinging -3 BBCOR bats in high school. The 2013 XL1 will be a two-piece all composite made bat. It will have a slight end load to it. Power hitters really like this bat.
Brandon
What are the differences between this year's bat and last year's? zmoney---
The 2013 Easton XL1 features a new composite in the handle that will be a little more durable and help to reduce sting and vibration.
Tyler
Is this bat legal for juniors? The big z
The 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 is a full composite youth big barrel bat and is illegal in the Junior Division of Little League.
Tyler
Which should my son get the New Rawlings Velo, Easton New Xl3, or the New Easton Xl1 he swings a -5 32/27. He is a contact hitter and sometimes a power hitter but he doesnt worry about homeruns really he just about his average.? Brady the Beast #9
It's always recommend that a player stick with the same type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to have continued success at the plate.
Tyler
Hi my son is 13 years old, is 5' 5" and weighs 105 lbs. Would a 31" be the right size for him? If not, what size? Jackie
I recommend the 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League in a 31" for your son who is 5' 5" and 105 lbs.
Katie W.
Why does the drop 5 have more pop then the drop 8? Joe
The drop 5 and the drop 8 will have exactly the same amount of pop. The bat may seem to be performing better, because it is a bigger bat.
Noah
My son is 14 he is 5'5", and weighs 110lbs. He is a good contact hitter, but doesn't really seem to get much distance on his hits. Would he be better using the Easton XL or SL 31 or 32 inch bat? The bat he has used previously was an Easton Titan SC900 29/20 model BZ275. cole
The 32" Easton S Series are going to be best for your son. The balanced swing weight on the S series make the bats perfect for contact hitters.
Noah
What are the differences between this bat and the Marruci Black 2? BB
The Easton XL1 is a two-piece composite bat. The Marucci Black 2 is a two-piece bat with an alloy barrel and composite handle. The XL1 will be a little more endloaded.
Tyler
Does the 2013 Easton XL1 -5 have more pop than the 2013 DeMarini CF5 -8? papo
Both the 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 and the 2013 DeMarini CF5 use top of the line composite materials. They will be similar in performance.
Kara
My son is 12 and about 135 lbs. playing 12U. Would this bat be good for him? marky
The 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League would be a good bat for a 12 year old player.
Marcus
My son is 13, 5'4" and 106 lbs. He is hitting very well with DeMarini CF5 (-8) and used Easton S1 (-10) the last 2 seasons. Should we move him to the S1 (-3) or is the XL1 (-5) a better transition for contact hitters? Mostly a contact hitter, but can hit with some power. MacDaddy
The 2013 Easton XL1 is a two-piece bat that is fully composite like the DeMarini CF5 and the Easton S1. The XL1 is an end loaded model, so there would be an adjustment going from the CF5 and S1 to the XL1. If he was successful with the CF5 and S1, then I would stick with those models.

My son is a 10 year old and about 5'1" at 110 lbs. Would the XL1 be a good bat for him to use? He currently uses the S1. ball player
The Easton XL1 is a great bat, but depending on your sons hitting style it may be better to stay with the Easton S1. The Easton XL1 is going to be an end loaded bat so it is preferred by power hitters.
Noah
I'm torn between the XL1 and Marucci black 2. I play u13 travel, I'm 5'6 and weigh 135. Which should i get? superman
If you are more of a power hitter the Easton XL1 will definitely be the way to go. If you are more of a contact hitter the Marucci black will be the bat for you. Both of these bats are very high performing bats though.
Noah

My son used the Easton Reflex 27", -8.5 last season. He is 13 and going to use a -5 this season. What would be a good bat to go to? klayton6
The 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League is a great choice for a drop -5 bat. It is end loaded to maximize your son's swing for power hitting. Since you will be increasing the weight by a minimum of 3.5 oz., I would recommend staying at the same length you are currently using.
Kevin

The Easton S1 is balanced, so if you are a contact hitter you should got with it. If you are more of a power hitter you should go with the Easton XL1.

Yes, the 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League bat would require a break-in period of about 150-200 hits soft toss or off a tee. You want to rotate the barrel a quarter of an inch every hit to ensure an even break-in.
Aubrey
Should I get this XL1 Senior League bat or the Easton Omen? And if there's a difference, can you let me know? JJ
The 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League replaced the Omen. It has a similar design to the Omen, with an extended barrel and end loaded feel. The XL1 has upgraded the composite in the handle.

The 2013 Easton XL1: SL13X15 Senior League bat would actually be a more end loaded model because of the Easton S3 because of the extended barrel design.
Aubrey

The best option to find the 2013 Easton XL1 (SL13X15) would be to look on Ebay because it is an older model bat.

If the bat needs to be high school legal, you would want to go with the 2015 Easton XL1 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB15X1).
