Description

Easton believes that every player should have the opportunity to hit for power, no matter what age or skill level. That's why they've brought back their groundbreaking Power Brigade line of bats for a third season. The concept behind the Power Brigade is simple: Help players hit for power. However, Easton realizes that different players achieve a powerful swing in different ways. That's why the Power Brigade is divided into two distinct series - the XL Series and the Speed Series. This junior big barrel bat is part of the XL Series and focuses on building power by increasing the mass behind each swing. This is accomplished by creating a bat with a slightly heavier length to weight ratio, and an extra-long barrel with a massive sweet spot. This one-piece design is made from Easton's game-changing THT100 Scandium Alloy for unrivaled durability and an expanded sweet spot. If you want to generate more power with every swing, it's time to join the POWER BRIGADE! The XL3 junior big barrel bat is recommended for use by players ages 8 and under. Easton: Engineered for Glory! The XL3 features the USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp. It is backed by Easton's Exclusive 12 Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Easton XL3 Diamond in the Rough parent

Pros: Awesome Bat, My son currently plays 8U Machine pitch and we have used the TPX Omaha XL for the past Two seasons and My son picked this bat up from a team mate to try out and wow what a difference. He went from batting 7th to 3rd in the Lineup in only Two games. Lots of pop and a huge sweet spot. Highly reccomend this bat.

Cons: The paint has started to chip in a couple places at the end of the bat, but other than that all is good.

Great Coach Pitch Bat Frank coach

Pros: I coach a 1st year Coach Pitch team, and we own the 2013 Easton S1 26/14, 2013 XL3 26/16, and 2014 XL3 26/16. The XL3 (alloy) bats are much more forgiving than the S1 (composite), as the sweet spot is much larger. Also, the ball simply comes off of the alloy bats with much more pop, and sounds good doing it. I tell my parents to stay away from the S1's after T-Ball (our league allows 2 3/4" bats).

Cons: None so far.

Awesome Bat Baseball dad player

Pros: My son is eight. We tried several bats and finally found this one and loved it. He started hitting the ball with much more authority and he fell in love with it. He played in the world series in July and hit three homeruns--over the fence. He has truly loved this bat. I hope Easton comes out with a similar one for 2015. Its time for a bigger bat.

Cons: After 3 months, one side of the bat was flat. However, we sent it back to Easton and they were very helpful and sent us a brand new one.

Easton XL3 - Found it by Accident Coach Steve Switzer coach

Pros: Great bat, huge sweet spot, sounds great, looks great, great Easton durability. Great "pop". One of my players left his XL3 at practice, so I brought it home for him so I could give it back at the next practice. My son wanted to use it for BP so I let him. Wow. Big difference from the Easton S1 he had been using. The balls looked like missiles coming off the bat. I have since bought him a Marucci Cat 6 and he only uses the Easton XL3 (27/17). Marucci stays in his bat bag. Super bat. I will be buying a 28/18 later this year.

Cons: None.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton XL3 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB14X3? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

What is difference in last year's model and this year's? core
2014 Easton XL3: JBB14X3 Junior Big Barrel and the 2013 XL3 both feature the same THT100 scandium alloy design. The 2014 model has updated graphics, and minor tweaks to the structure to improve durability and performance.
Katie
How does this bat compare to the 2012 version and the 2014 S3? We are currently using the 2012 version. What is the better choice between the 2014 XL3 and S3? JAY
The 2014 Easton XL3: JBB14X3 Junior Big Barrel has an extended barrel, which may make it feel slightly heavier than the Easton S3. Both bats are one-piece alloy bats and will otherwise be comparable.
Tori
My son is 8 1/2 about 4' 3" and weighs about 68 lbs. I am not sure if this bat is about the average size? andy
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 28" model in the 2014 Easton XL3: JBB14X3 Junior Big Barrel. Junior Big Barrel bats are best used for coach pitch and tee ball.
Jason
Is the bat accepted by USSSA ? Joe
Yes, the 2014 Easton XL3: JBB14X3 Junior Big Barrel is USSSA approved.
Tori
My 8 year old son is 47 inches tall and weighs 52 pounds. He is currently using a 26 inch. Does he fall into the 27 inch range yet? lisa
Based on his height and weight we recommend a 27" 2014 Easton XL3 (JBB14X3).
Kara
Do you offer Easton XL3 in a 2 5/8 barrel size? Coach
The 2014 Easton XL3 is offered in a 2 5/8'' barrel, but not as a Junior Big Barrel or Tee Ball bat. The 2 5/8'' barrel is featured on the Senior League and Adult versions. The Senior League is available in a -5 and -8.
Tori
My son is 10 years old and weighs 53 lbs. Is the 28'18" a good size for him? Gaby
Based on his age and weight, we recommend a 29" 2014 Easton XL3 (JBB14X3). For more information regarding sizing, feel free to visit our Bat Coach: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Tessa L.
Other than the extended barrel of the XL3, how does this vary from the S3? Scdib
Given the extended barrel design of the 2014 Easton XL3 (JBB14X3), this bat will have an end loaded, or end heavy, feel and swing weight. The Easton S3 has a balanced, or even, feel and swing weight. Junior Big Barrel bats are recommended for Coach/Machine Pitch play only.
Marcus
The XL3 description states recommended for 8 and under. Is the bat labeled "Coach Pitch"? Our league rule is that "bats labeled 'Coach Pitch' may only be used in 7U and 8U Coach Pitch". My kid going to play 9U, but the coach recommended this bat. jlc
This 2014 Easton XL3: (JBB14X3) Junior Big Barrel bat does not have "Coach Pitch" listed anywhere on the barrel. It does have "Recommended for Use By Players Age 8 and Under" and "Junior Big Barrel" written on the barrel. These Junior Big Barrel models are designed with thinner barrel walls, so you may experience issues with durability if the pitch speeds reach about 40 mph.
Mac
My son is playing 8U machine pitch ball. Would this be good for that type of baseball and if not what would be? ncball
The 2014 Easton XL3 (JBB14X3) is designed for use in coach pitch only. We recommend the 2014 Easton S3 (SL14S310B) to use in machine or kid pitch.
Kara
How can you tell the difference between the 2013 and the 2014? I'm not sure which one I have. Becca
The 2014 Easton XL3: (JBB14X3) Junior Big Barrel bat features a slightly different color scheme and design than the 2013 model. But each model will also have its unique product code printed on the barrel. If your bat show "JBB14X3" on the barrel, it is this 2014 model.
Mac
My 5 yr old son will be playing coach pitch for the first time. He just finished tee ball for the first time and used a 24 inch Easton MAKO. Is this bat good for him for coach pitch or do you recommend another one? He is 48 inches tall and 50 pounds. Also, do you recommend a 26 inch or 27 inch bat for him? jedimom
The 2014 Easton XL3 (JBB14X3) is a -10 and could be too heavy for a five year old. We recommend using a -12 bat such as the 2014 Easton MAKO (JBB14MK). Based on his height and weight we recommend a 26" 14 oz.
Kara
I'm looking at the S1 and the XL3. I am not sure what bat would be better for my 6 year old. He is moving up to coach pitch. He is a power hitter with quick hands. He's 45 inches tall and weighs about 55 pounds. joe
Both the 2014 Easton XL3 (JBB14X3) and the Easton S1 Baseball Bat JBB13S1 are nice options. The major difference would be the weighting. The XL3 would be 2 ounces heavier in the same size as the S1. Given the information you have given about your player I would recommend the XL3.
Patrick
We have the white XL3. How does this bat compare/contrast with it? matt
The 2014 Easton XL3 (JBB14X3) and the Easton XL3 (JBB11X3) use the same THT100 alloy. Both are very high performing bats.
Kara
What is the difference between this bat and the XL3 Power Brigade? batshoppinmama
The 2014 Easton XL3 (JBB14X3) is designed for coach pitch only. The 2014 Easton XL3 (SL14X39) can be used for coach, machine, and kid pitch.
Kara
My son plays 8U and has an Easton S1 Baseball Bat: JBB13S1 Junior Big Barrel. I think it may be defective as it has zero pop to it. I am going to exchange the bat as I am very unhappy with it. I am trying to decide if I should go with a senior big barrel or a junior big barrel and what size. He has a 27" 15 oz. bat now. He is an average to above average size 8 year old now. Would the Junior Big Barrel XL3 be a good choice? Adam
The 2014 Easton XL3 (JBB14X3) is designed for coach pitch only. If he is in coach pitch we recommend the JBB14X3. If he is in machine or kid pitch we recommend the 2014 Easton S3 (SL14S310B).
Kara
My son has the 2013 XL3 Junior Big Barrel. He borrowed his friend's V12. He seems to hit better with that bat. Did they replace the V12 with another bat? I can't find it. rob
For the Junior Big Barrel category, the 2014 Easton XL3 (JBB14X3) Junior Big Barrel would be the most comparable bat to the V12 (BV22) in their current lineup. However, I would say that the barrel length of the XL3 model would be slightly longer, but both bats are -10 designs. For a more balanced feel, the next most comparable bat Easton would have to offer would be the (SL14S310B) Senior League model: http://goo.gl/APRmt6.
Mac
We currently own the 2014 Easton XL3 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat JBB14X3. We need to move up from the 28" 18 oz version of this bat. What do you recommend? We would like to go to a 29" 19 oz, if possible in Easton. Brent
I would suggest looking into the 2014 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14S310B) and the 2015 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL15S310B). Both bats will have a one piece alloy structure, a balanced swing weight, and a 2 3/4" barrel diameter similar to your 2014 Easton XL3 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB14X3). Also, they are both available in a 29" 19 oz. model.
Tom
My son uses an Easton 28" 18 oz. 2 1/4" barrel. What is a good big barrel for him, size and weight? He hit 5 home runs with his bat. tee
If he liked the feel of the older XL3 bat model, Easton just released a new one. The 2015 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL15X39) will have a big barrel and be a great choice. It will have a barrel diameter of 2 5/8". Also, this model is a -9. Here is a link for you to see all of the rest of Easton's big barrel bats in his sizing: http://www.justbats.com/products/baseball%20bats~youth%20big%20barrel/vendor~easton/?sortBy=TotalSales%20Descending&size=24
Brandon
Is this bat appropriate for a 10u player? I know it says Junior but not sure what that means. Hitter
The Easton XL3 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB14X3) will be created for coach pitch leagues. If your boy is in kid pitch, look for the Senior League bats. These all will be Youth Big Barrel and be more designed to hold up and last versus kid pitching.
Brandon
my son really loves this bat I see that it is discontinued where can I buy this bat 27" if it's no longer available what's the new model to this bat ARam
Unfortunately since the Easton XL3 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB14X3) is discontinued and Easton is no longer making it eBay is going to be your best option to find of these currently. Easton did not make a direct replacement for this this year, but it does have the balanced version which is very similar. It is the 2017 Easton S3 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB17S310B).
