Description

The next generation of Power Brigade has arrived. Now in its third season, this groundbreaking line of bats is unlike anything else on the field today. The concept is simple: Help players hit for power. However, Easton realizes that different players achieve a powerful swing in different ways. That's why the Power Brigade is divided into two distinct series - the XL Series (XL1, XL2, and XL3) and the Speed Series (S1, S2, and S3). The XL Series is designed for bigger, stronger hitters who derive their power from a bat with more mass. Smaller length to weight ratios, and an extra-long barrel with a massive sweet spot and a slight end load characterize the XL Series. The Speed Series, on the other hand, helps players increase their swing speed in order to generate more power. These bats feature lighter length to weight ratios, a lower M.O.I., and a balanced feel. Further trying to equip players with their perfect bat, Easton offers all of its Power Brigade bats in a two-piece IMX Composite/SIC Black Carbon design (XL1, S1), a two-piece THT100 Scandium Alloy/SIC Black Carbon hybrid design (XL2, S2), and a one-piece THT Scandium Alloy design (XL3, S3). Two of the highest performing materials ever used on a bat, Easton's patented IMX Composite optimizes the sweet spot for maximum performance, while their THT Scandium Alloy provides solid durability and allows for a larger alloy sweet spot than is seen anywhere else on the field. Throw in an array of additional world-class Easton technology, and you've got a line of bats that can't be topped. Easton: Engineered for Glory! The XL3 is approved for play in Little League, Babe Ruth, Dixie, Pony, AABC, and features the new USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp. It is backed by Easton's Exclusive 12 Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Pros: Great pop. Excellent Bat!! I was always skeptical about paying over $50.00 for a youth small barrel bat. The XL3 is worth the price.

Cons: My son has been swinging it for 3 weeks. Only regret I have was not buying it sooner!

xl3 ss player

Pros: This bat is easily the best alloy bat on the market. It has way more pop then most of the composite bats out there. (besides DeMarini and Easton composites) There is a kid in my League who can hit 2 homers a game over 230 Ft fences..... he's only 100 pounds and 5'2

Cons: The paint chips after awhile, last years bat is the same thing, save the money and get that. the only difference is the paint job.

XL3 Logan player

Pros: So I play in the 14u elite baseball travel team. This bat has a huge sweet spot and great pop to start things off. It is either really loud when not hit on sweet spot ( which I like) or like a really dense sound if hit on barrel. I have a 32/27. I am a power hitter but always had a problem with swinging fast. This allows you to do just that, swing fast.

Cons: Can sting a lot depending where you hit would recommend batting gloves when getting this bat.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat: YB14X3? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

How do you return another bat from this website and trade it for the XL3? Rohan
If you are looking to return the 2014 Easton XL3: YB14X3 Youth bat. It must be in unused condition to be able to swap it for another bat. The returns page can be found here: https://www.justbats.com/returns/
Brandon
Excluding length to weight ratio, what is the difference between the Easton Youth XL1 and XL3? paul
Aside from the difference in drop, the 2014 Easton XL1: YB14X1 Youth is a two-piece fully composite design and the 2014 Easton XL3: YB14X3 Youth is a one-piece aluminum design.
John H
Are there any differences between the 2013 model and 2014 model besides graphics? Brian
Easton did not make any changes to materials or design, other than paint scheme, between the 2013 and 2014 Easton XL3: YB14X3 Youth models. Both bats have extended barrels, are made from the THT100 Alloy, and feature -11 length to weight ratios. Easton likely put most of their R&D efforts into the MAKO for the 2014 line.
Mac
My son is 11. What size should he be using? He currently has a 29" 18 oz.. Should we be moving up to a 30? Ski28
The length and weight of a bat is best determined by the height and weight of the player. For correct sizing for the 2014 Easton XL3: YB14X3 Youth we recommend to check out our bat coach: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/.
Kara
What is the weight of the bat? I am trying to figure out the length to weight ratio. We have been told my sons team will have a length to weight ratio of -5 in the next 1-2 years Marc
The 2014 Easton XL3: YB14X3 Youth has a -11 drop and is the youth small barrel model. If you are looking for a -5 drop you want to look at the 2014 Easton XL3: SL14X35 Senior League which is the model with a -5 drop.
Damon
Can this bat be used in the batting cage with the yellow dimple balls? Trey
We recommend against hitting yellow dimpled cage balls with all bats. They are more dense than baseballs and may damage the bat. It is ideal to hit against real baseballs, but if that is not an option, I would recommend using a cheaper bat for the cage.
Austin
What has more pop, the Easton XL1 or XL3? Will
The 2014 Easton XL3 (YB14X3) and the XL1 both feature an end loaded swing weight so their pop will be similar. However, the XL1 features a composite barrel that will keep its pop longer than the XL3 with the one piece alloy design.
Tessa L.
My son is 12, 5'2" and 120 lbs. He has been using an Easton S series drop 3. We have moved an he will have to use a 2 1/4" bat now. Which bat would you recommend, XL1 or XL3? Which length and weight would you recommend? Jerry
If he has been swing a -3 bat we recommend the heaviest bat, which is the 2014 Easton XL1 (YB14X1). Even though the 2014 Easton XL3 (YB14X3) is end loaded, it is too light for a player going from a BBCOR bat to a small barrel bat.
Kara
My son is 5'4" and around 115 lbs. He used a low end Easton bat last year in the $49 price range at 31 inch by 21 ounce. He is now 12 and the cheaper bat kept bending. Would this be a good bat for his size? Do you recommend 31 or 32 inch length? Gunner
Based on you son's height and weight, we would recommend getting a 31''. The 2014 Easton XL3 (YB14X3) will be a high quality bat. It is more designed for power hitter. If your son is more of a contact hitter, I would recommend the Easton S3.
Tori
My son is 5' and 90 lbs and just turned 12 recently. He batted with a 29" 19 oz. bat last year in Little League. What size bat would you recommend for this year, 31" 20 oz. XL3? Buster
Based on his height and weight we recommend a 30" 19 oz. 2014 Easton XL3 (YB14X3).
Kara
My son is 11 4'6" weighs 75 lbs and used a 29" 17 oz. Voodoo last season. Thinking of buying this line of bat he has very fast swing speed, gap hitter. Which of the Easton bats would you suggest and size? greg
The 2014 Easton XL3 (YB14X3) is a great option for a player with quick bat speed. The end loaded design is similar to the DeMarini Voodoo. We recommend a 29" 18 oz. bat for him.
Kara
My son is 4 foot 11 and weighs 120 pounds. He is 9 years old. He has used a 29 inch 19 ounce DeMarini for the last two years. What size would you recommend for him? jckc
Based on your son's height and weight, we would suggest a 30 inch size of the 2014 Easton XL3 (YB14X3) Youth bat.
Patrick
What is the difference between the 2014 Easton XL3 (YB14X3) Youth and the 2014 Easton XL1 (YB14X1) Youth? joey
The 2014 Easton XL3 (YB14X3) Youth is a -11 one-piece alloy bat, whereas the 2014 Easton XL1 (YB14X1) Youth is a -10 two-piece composite bat. The two-piece design in the XL1 helps to cut down on vibration and the composite will be higher performing than alloy.
Damon
My son is 11 years old. He is 5'5" and 160 pounds and used a 30" and 18 oz last year. What would you recommend for him this year? Scott
Based on his height and weight, we suggest a 32" model in the 2014 Easton XL3 (YB14X3) Youth.
Jason
My son is turning 11 in a few weeks. He's between 5'4" and 5'5" and about 110 pounds. He was using a 30" bat last year and now I'm torn between a 31" and a 32" model. He's a power hitter (given his size), so I'm also looking for some recommendations on specific bats. Richard
Based on his height and weight, our Bat Coach recommends a 31" 2014 Easton XL3 (YB14X3). The XL3 features an end loaded swing weight with power hitting in mind. The one-piece design is also ideal for power hitting since it will feel stiffer on contact. This would be a great option for your son.
Tessa L.
My son is about to turn 13 years old. He's not your average 13 year old as he his 5'9" tall, 190 lbs. and wears a size 11 in men's shoes. What bat do you recommend he use? I believe right now he used a 30" 19 oz. Easton big barrel. He is starting to play in a league that only uses 2 1/4" barrel. What bat and size do you recommend? He does hit with power. Rog
The 2014 Easton XL3 (YB14X3) is a stiff, end loaded bat. It is ideal for a power hitter. We recommend a 32" 21 oz. for his height and weight.
Kara
I purchased this bat earlier this spring, but have not used it yet, due to the cold temperatures. Opening day is this weekend, temperatures going to be in mid 50s. Okay to use this bat in temperatures lower than 60 or should we hold off until the weather gets nicer? philliesfan
The 2014 Easton XL3 (YB14X3) can be used in 50 degree temperatures.
Kara
My son is about 5 ft 8, 130 lbs. and 12 yrs. old. He is using 31" -11 Mako. Do you feel this bat is okay, he has some power but has not gone yard. He usually center to right field. john
The 2014 Easton XL3 (YB13X3) would be a good option if you want to pick up some power. The Easton XL line features an end-loaded swing weights which tailors power hitters. Easton Mako (YB14MK) will have more flex so it would create a "whipping motion" and the Easton XL3 will have less flex. He should be able to do fine with that bat.
Zach
My son is 8 years old and is 4'5" and weighs about 75 pounds. What size bat do you recommend for him? Greg
Based on his height and weight we recommend a 29" 2014 Easton XL3 (YB14X3).
Kara
Which bat has better pop, the Easton XL1, Easton Mako or the Easton XL3? Trey
That is a tough choice. The 2014 Easton XL3 (YB14X3) is a great aluminum option. It would be the best for a power hitter, along with the XL1. These have an end loaded swing weight that won't have as much pop if a contact hitter tried to use them. The MAKO is very balanced and has a large sweet spot that will deliver tons of pop for contact and power hitters alike.
Justin R.
My son is 10 years old, 4'9" and weighs 82 lbs. He has no problem with bat speed. What size do you recommend? Does the XL3 have more pop than MAKO? Jay
Based on his height and weight, we suggest a 30" model in the 2014 Easton XL3 (YB14X3) Youth. The XL3 has a slight end loaded swing weight and is a better bat for power hitters. The XL3 and MAKO have similar pop.
Jason
My son is 8. He makes good contact and has about 150 ft. power. What is the best bat for him? jb
The 2014 Easton XL3 (YB14X3) will be an excellent bat for your son. The extended barrel should really help his power numbers.
Jackson
Which bat is better for power hitters? Xl2 or Xl3? Sgt Doc
Both bats have an end loaded swing weight which is preferred for power hitters, however the 2014 Easton XL3 (YB14X3) is a one-piece design which allows for a stiffer feel which is also preferred by power hitters.
Kyle J.
My son is 5'2" and his weight is 110 lbs. What size bat would you recommend? Mett
Based on his approximate height and weight the suggested length we would recommend would be a 31/20 in the 2014 Easton XL3: (YB14X3).
Merritt
Can you get this in a 28 inch? pup
The 2014 Easton XL3 (YB14X3) is not produced by Easton in a 28". The smallest size available is the 29" 18oz.
John
i just bought my son an XL3 31"/ 20oz bat. Should I use it in the cage? If not what would i use? He is 5'3" 127 lbs, is this the right size for him? gman
It is fine to use the 2014 Easton XL3 (YB14X3) in a batting cage as long as you are using baseballs and not the yellow rubber batting cage balls in commercial cages. The 31"/20 oz. size is the right size for your son based on his height and weight.
Bobby
Is this bat a composite bat? baseball lover
The 2014 Easton XL3 (YB14X3) is a one-piece alloy end loaded construction.
Zach
Is this bat approved for Little League's 50/70 Intermediate division? Rob
Yes, the 2014 Easton XL3 Youth (YB14X3) is legal in the Intermediate (50/70) division of Little League.
Kyle J.
How many days is the warranty? TImtimRays100
The 2014 Easton XL3 (YB14X3) features a full twelve month manufacturers warranty.
Patrick
Which bat has a bigger sweet spot, the XL1 or XL2? AWESOME kid
Both the 2014 Easton XL1 Youth Baseball Bat (YB14X1) and the Easton XL2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB13X2) would have similar sweet spot size. One would not be noticeably bigger than the other.
Patrick
I'm 12, weigh 214 lbs. and I am a power hitter. What bat do recommend for me? reg
The 2014 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB14X3) would be a fantastic choice for any power hitter. The end loaded swing weight is preferred by power hitters, and the one-piece design will provide a stiffer feel on contact too. A power hitter will tend to prefer a one-piece bat because the one-piece design isn't as forgiving as a two-piece. Two-piece bats with a lot of flex can be a bad thing for a power hitter because it can cause loss of bat head control and a late whipping action.
Tessa
My son was wanting the XL3 BBCOR 32". I understand this bat is no longer being made. What would be the next alternative? lwa
If you are looking for a similar feel as the 2014 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB14X3) in a BBCOR bat, we would suggest the 2015 Marucci CAT 6 BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBC614) or the 2015 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD FT BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXVDC). The CAT 6 has that all-alloy feel like the XL3, and the OVERLORD has the alloy barrel, which is helpful for power. The OVERLORD also has the D-Fusion Handle that helps to eliminate vibration.
Chinyere
Will a sleeve help when using the yellow balls? joe
I do not think a bat sleeve will work for the Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB14X3) versus the heavier, yellow, dimpled balls.
Brandon
My son (and half his all-star team) has been hitting his 2014 XL3 and loving it. Don't know how much longer it can last though. It seems to be losing a little pop and we just started using it this spring. I'm curious what to buy next, wish I could find another 2014 XL. Is there any difference between 2014 and 2015 XL3 models besides color/decor? Scott
Yes, there is a difference between the Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB14X3) and the 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3). The 2015 model features an upgraded alloy material, the Hyperlite Matrix Alloy. This upgraded alloy will be more responsive and is said to have better durability than the THT Scandium Alloy from year's past. Since Easton has come out with their new 2015 models, they no longer manufacture the 201 bats. Your best chance at finding it will be on auction sites like Amazon or eBay.
Tessa
Why were they discontinued? Erin
The Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB14X3) has been discontinued at JustBats because we have ran out of stock of this bat. Since this model was a 2014 bat, Easton is no longer producing this exact bat and once we ran out of stock, we had no more replacement shipments to receive from Easton. To view a model that is most similar to this bat, I would recommend the 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3).
