Description

For over 125 years, Louisville Slugger wood bats have been in the hands of some of the game's biggest stars. Now, Louisville Slugger wants to bring players all over the country the same bats that they put in the hands of MLB all-stars. MLB Prime bats are turned to each player's exact specifications using the highest grade wood available. This bat is Evan Longoria's game day bat and features Veneer Maple wood with an I13 turning model. These bats are made to be as hard as possible, with quality that can't be exceeded. That is partially due to their Amish Craftsmanship that takes from the techniques used by Amish woodworkers including cutting from square billets and hand sawing, followed by being placed in advanced vacuum drying chambers. These bats are then subjected to Louisville Slugger's 360 Degree Compression that guarantees 360 degrees or hardness with absolutely no soft spots. This creates a harder, more durable bat and makes bone rubbing a thing of the past. If you want to get the most out of your game this season, swing what the pros swing. Great feel, but short lived Peter player

Pros: Great feel, good balance, had great pop when the ball was struck.

Cons: One bad swing was all it took to break unfortunately. Four games (fourteen ABs) was all it lasted.

Good Pop Wish it lasted longer for maple bat CC #24- Varsity 6'/200 lbs player

Pros: Hot bat ! good balance and slightly end loaded. Great distance if you hit the sweet spot. I'll buy more but hope quality improves [ see below]

Cons: Bat broke sooner then expected ! However, Same bat in Ash was even weaker. Both bats had little defect in cupping area which contributed to the problem. I expected better quality in mlb prime. Although defect could have been shipping issue. Purchased 3 in 2 shipments and all had small dent in top of cup.

I have and still swing a Marucci JB19, but I was considering looking around at different models. How would this compare to the JB19? Which Marucci model would this bat be most like? Jk
The Marucci JB19 would be more balanced compared to the Louisville Slugger MLB Prime Evan Longoria (WBVM14-13CHB). The Louisville Slugger Evan Longoria model would be most similar to the Marucci Albert Pujols (AP5) model.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
