Description

New for This season, it's the goal of Louisville Slugger to field the best swingers in slow pitch softball and turn them on to the Z-2000. The design that has shocked baseball and softball with its cutting edge technology is back and better than ever! The Z-2000 employs S1 iD Technology that allows the barrel to flex to its maximum allowable performance level from SWING 1. Two inner discs are positioned inside the barrel at the sweetspot to stop the barrel from from flexing past the legal limit. For players, this means they really do get MAXIMUM performance allowable and a larger performing sweetspot. Louisville Slugger uses their high quality LS-2X composite on the Z-2000. This new thinner high-strength and lightweight graphite fiber blend allows for reduced wall thickness, creating better performance while maintaining durability. The thinner fibers have allowed Louisville Slugger to use more layers in the barrel for added strength, but with an overall wall thickness that is thinner. The iST barrel to handle connection gives players maximum performance, even on inside hits. With an endloaded swing weight, the Z-2000 is built for power. For added performance the Z-2000 has a Louisville Slugger end cap and a 7/8" standard handle with a synthetic grip. Louisville Slugger: Be the Best. Or Swing the Rest. The Z-2000 is approved for play in ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA, and ISF. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: I swung this fresh out of the wrapper in a fall ball game in about 45 degree weather. Bat is unreal, we took the wrapper off in the dug out and our lead off hitter lead off with a homer. The end load really shows, little guys hitting monster line drives. Has an awesome look to it and a unique sound off the bat. Everyone wants one and there's a reason.

Cons: None.

Steven

Pros: The last time I played ball I hit this bat. I hit the longest home run of my life the first time I swung it. My second at bat, I hit a pop up for a home run.

Cons: I read the factory grip is not so great. I wouldn't know because the owner of the bat I used replaced the factory grip before using it. If that tells you anything.

Have a question about the Louisville Slugger TPS Z-2000 End Load ASA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: SB13ZAE? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

What is the difference between Z-1000 and Z-2000? hilosoftballtom
Not much to speak of. The Z-2000 is basically just this year's model of the Z-1000. Louisville Slugger does make tweaks from year to year to correct any issues with the previous year's model.
Patrick
Can I get this bat in a 26 oz. version? joe
We are currently out of stock on that size, but should have it within the next few weeks. Keep checking back to the site, because once we scan it in, the bat size will go live again to purchase.
Derek
What is the difference between the SB13ZAE and the SB13ZE bats? jd
The SB13ZAE is ASA approved. The SB13ZE is not ASA approved.
Tyler
Is the end loaded the only model made? Is there a model that is not end loaded? Joe DePierro
The 2013 Louisville Slugger TPS Z-2000 Balanced ASA: SB13ZAB Slow Pitch is the balanced version of the Z-2000.
Kara
Whats the difference between a SB13ZAE to a SB13ZAB? Bruce
The 2013 Louisville Slugger TPS Z-2000 End Load ASA: SB13ZAE is end loaded. The 2013 Louisville Slugger TPS Z-2000 Balanced ASA: SB13ZAB is balanced.
Tyler
I have to ask what is the difference in the performance between the SB13ZAE and the SB13ZE, or are they exactly the same with different stamps? Trey
Both the 2013 Louisville Slugger TPS Z-2000 End Load SB13ZAE and the SB13ZE are the exact same bats, but one is ASA approved, and the other is for USSSA.
Noah
Are there any temperature restrictions on this graphite fiber blend? deuce
Yes, the 2013 Louisville Slugger TPS Z-2000 End Load ASA: SB13ZAE Slow Pitch bat will have cold weather restrictions. A temperature of 50 degrees is recommended for use on this model. The colder the temperature gets, the more dense the baseball becomes. This is how damage is done to the bat.
Brandon
If I am used to a 34" 28 oz. bat and now want a TPS Z-2000 end loaded, should I go with a 34" 27 oz.? Bob K
It's recommended you use the same size in an endloaded model. Otherwise, you'll negate most of the benefits of the endloaded design. Unless you had below average swing speed with your 28 oz. bat, I wouldn't recommend moving down to a 27 oz. model of the 2013 Louisville Slugger TPS Z-2000 End Load ASA: SB13ZAE.
Tyler
Any cons on this bat? johnny boy
The 2013 Louisville Slugger TPS Z-2000 End Load ASA: SB13ZAE Slow Pitch bat is one of the best End-Loaded Slow Pitch bats on the market. No cons here.

The description says, "The Z-2000 is approved for play in ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA, and ISF.". But there seem to be two models. One for ASA and one for USSSA. Can I get one bat that is both ASA and USSSA approved?? What other associations is the ASA bat approved for? Adam
Yes. The 2013 Louisville Slugger TPS Z-2000 End Load ASA: SB13ZAE bat you asked this question about is approved for ASA and USSSA (see the stamps on the product images and Bat Features). This bat is approved for play in ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA, and ISF.
Tyler
Which bat out of the End Load and Balanced is the better performing bat? Tom
Both bats are high performing. Generally, power hitters prefer the feel of the end load and contact hitters prefer the balanced bats.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
