Description

It's time to step up and attack the diamond, because the two-piece composite just changed forever! Louisville Slugger proudly introduces their new two-piece composite bat suitably named the TPX Attack. The Attack debuts Louisville Slugger's new two-piece T2 Technology. This revolutionary new transition technology strengthens the link between the barrel and handle to give the Attack a trampoline spring and virtually eliminates vibration on contact. This straighter, thicker rubber ring results in a bat that is not only sturdier, but gives players an unparalleled feel of the ball jumping off the bat. Vibration from mishits are absorbed before they reach the player's hands, allowing players to be more consistent with their hitting. The Attack is constructed from Louisville Slugger's LS-2X Composite that uses thinner, high-strength and lightweight graphite fibers to add more layers to the barrel for reinforced strength, while reducing the overall thickness of the barrel wall. More pop, less weight: that's the formula for better performance AND durability. With a balanced swing weight and an easy to grip 7/8 inch standard handle, this bat will have hitters ATTACKING the strike zone like never before! Louisville Slugger: Be the Best, or Swing the Rest! The Attack features the new USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp and is approved for play. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Trampoline affect with huge POP!! RMac coach

Pros: Felt weird at first, even to me... an amateur ball player... like the knob was heavier than the barrel. The bat swings very light and has a great feel when in contact with the ball.

Confidence builder! Rick Jaworowski parent

Pros: Great pop. Great looking bat. Has my son swinging with more confidence than ever!

Cons: Makes a funny sound when hit on plate or tossed on the ground. Almost sounds like something is loose or wrong with the bat. This does not affect the pop or hitting with the bat.

Cons: Very poor quality!! Bat was broken in by hitting 250 plus balls off tee and soft toss as required!! Never used in cold weather BUT bat broke just below rubber ring on barrel around 10th game..average 3 at bats per game so it lasted around 30 at bats! ...Recieved replacement today through warranty but have NO confidence this bat wont do the same.. Dad of 2 expensive boys Todd Felber parent

Pros: This bat is just the right size in between for smaller boys that have to move up to the 14U age bracket. My 13 year old loves it and he's smaller than his 11 year old brother. Has good enough pop to send it to the grass but not so light that you lose power against a pitcher.

Cons: So far with about 5 games on it we've only seen problems with the paint chipping toward the end of the bat and I believe that's just do to the harsh nature of 12-14 year old boys. Honestly that paint hasn't affected anything about the bat.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Louisville Slugger TPX Attack Composite Senior League Baseball Bat: SL13A? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

My grandson used a 30" 20oz. TPX Omaha last year at age 12. Would the Attack 31" -8 be a good upgrade for him this year at age 13? Scotty
The 2013 Louisville Slugger TPX Attack 31" 23oz. would be perfect for him. It is always recommended to start going heavier for high school -3 BBCOR bats and the Attack is an outstanding bat.
Noah
About how many hits you think it will take to break this bat in? Also is this a balanced bat or is it end loaded? Thanks Drew
The 2013 Louisville Slugger TPX Attack will require 150-200 hits off of soft toss or a tee. Rotate the bat 1/4" every swing for full barrel coverage. Start at 50% power and work your way up from there.
Frank
My son is 11 and plays on a travel team. He only weighs 69 lbs. and he is a great hitter. He loves his TPX. I am looking at the Attack, DeMarini Voodoo, Combat B4, and the Marucci Elite, what would you recommend ?? Smiley
I would recommend sticking with the brand you have had success with in the past. The 2013 Louisville Slugger TPX Attack would be a great choice.
Justin R
Is this bat manufactured in the USA ? rick

Do composite bats lose their "pop" over time? If so, about how long will it keep its integrity? Or is this just a myth? AJR4
Composite bats do no generally lose their pop over time. They maintain their performance until the bat loses its integrity.
Kevin
Can this bat be used right out of the box or does it need a break-in period? What is the proper way to break-in a composite bat? catch4
Yes, the 2013 Louisville Slugger TPX Attack: SL13A Senior League bat will need a period of break-in. For bats with composite hitting surfaces, we recommend 150-200 hits off a batting tee or soft toss. It"s best to start off at about 40% power, and gradually increase. Also, be sure to rotate the bat a quarter of turn in your hands after every hit.
Brandon
I am about to turn 13, about 5'3" and weigh about 115 lbs. I'm a lead off hitter and I get a lot of base hit singles and doubles and I'm looking to start swinging a -8. I am stuck between the 2013 TPX Attack -8 and the 2013 DeMarini CF5 -8. Which bat would you recommend for me? Chris
Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 31" model. Both the 2013 Louisville Slugger TPX Attack: SL13A Senior League bat and the DeMarini CF5 are two-piece fully composite designs with very balanced swing weights. They would be good options for a contact hitter.
Aubrey

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
