Description

Since 1884, Louisville Slugger has been on the cutting edge of bat technology. This year the TPX line brings a new dimension in performance technology to the table. The EXOGRID 2 is one of the most innovative bats to ever hit the market. This bat starts out with Louisville Slugger's SC21 Scandium Alloy which is one of the most durable and responsive alloys on the market. Moving toward the handle you'll find that the metal is trimmed into a grid-like pattern and replaced with carbon composite inserts. These inserts are several times stronger than the metal they replace which gives the EXOGRID 2 not only its name, but it's unwavering durability. Inside the bat, the heart of the EXOGRID 2 can be found in the form of an internal carbon composite sleeve. This provides greater handle stiffness than alloy alone ever could. All of these parts are brought together using Louisville Slugger's EXOGRID Bi/Fusion Process, where a combination of heat and extreme pressure bond everything into a single, solid unit. New for the BBCOR model this year is Power Disc Technology. Two independent discs are positioned inside the barrel to allow for peak performance around the sweetspot, and providing an oversized hitting surface and balanced swing weight. Not only will you get a higher performing swing with the EXOGRID 2, you'll get a better feeling one! Louisville Slugger: Intimidate at the Plate! The EXOGRID 2 is BBCOR certified and legal for high school and collegiate play. It carries a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: I got to use this bat before hand at the factory. It was a great bat with a nice sized sweet spot. Compared to any other bbcor bat on the market this bat has the biggest sweet spot and nicest feel. Plus the bat just looks so amazing. 299.99 instead of 369.99 like last year's exo.

Pros: Excellent pop. Soft toss and light overhand and feel I can hit it out of the park. Anyone questioning what bat to get buy the exo. It is worth $300 and must be the best bat bbcor or besr. Bat looks sleek white grip looks cool. Best bat ever

Cons: White grip may get dirty. Louisville should come out with a black and white grip that would look awesome.

Pros: Great pop from the very first use. Decent "Sweet Spot." Weight is divided evenly throughout the bad giving it a very light feel. Great Bat

Cons: "Sweet Spot" is between the "P" and the "X" on "TPX." Bat broke on the 2nd day of use. Something lose inside the barrel. Gave me a new bat quick and have not had a problem with the new one at all.

Pros: If you have any questions on what bat to get, this is it. I had to try out for a tournament team and the bat came in the same day, I was worried about not getting to use the bat first but it proved its self. I hit 2 over a 330 ft. fence which made me look grate. Im 16, 5' 10" and 160lbs. This bat has great balance and a nice sized sweetspot. Even if you dont hit it in the sweetspot the ball will still travel a good distance.

Cons: Not having this bat.

B.B. FREAK!!!

Pros: Hot BAT!!! you think you hit good with a BESR bat, better work on you hitting only the best hitters will shine with a BBCOR bats! No more bat manufactured home runs! But this bat is as close as it comes!!!!

Cons: Needs a better tapered end at the handle.

Pros: Well balanced bat, nice graphics, nice grip. It's a BBCOR bat therefore not much pop. I bought this bat because it is the more balanced bat from among other BBCOR bats that are available on the market right now. Your not going to hit homeruns with this bat unless your built like a tank.

Cons: Rings inside bat barrel came loose after only having the bat for 4 days and using it for soft toss and tee work. rings inside the barrel were rattling. Louisville Slugger honored warranty by sending me a replacement bat, since this is a warranty replacement bat they will not replace the bat if the rings come loose again. The rings are a bad design , their there to slow the bat down not give power.

Pros: I got to use this bat for the first time today and I loved it. It performed up to my expectations and has a lot of pop compared to the other BBCOR bats I've swung. Also, the weighting is several time better than other Demarini BBCOR bats.

Cons: The only cons I have with this bat is that the sweet spot is relatively small (between the P & X of TPX) and that the white gets dirty too quick.

Pros: I bought this bat two days before a game and was unsure on the size because i got a 34-31 but in the first two games i went 6 for 8 with 6 doubles and 9 RBIs i was the only hitter in the league with a bbcor and i lead the league in hits, doubles, rbis, and average this is an awesome bbcor bat the ball just flys off of the barrel compaired to other bbcor bats. i would buy this bat again and again.

Cons: handle gets dirty they should come out with replacement white handles

Pros: Amazing bat!! ive had it for about 2 months now and have been using it almost every day from games, to BP, to just hitting a ball off the tee in the backyard. It hasn't lost any bit of pop... if anything it seems like it keeps gaining pop! and since ive got this bat i havent had to use batting gloves cuz the grip is so soft and coushiny.. thats something i wont need to buy again... theres no better bat out there better than this one right here!!!!!!!

Cons: maybe the price could be a little lower.. but it is defiantly worth 300!

Lead off batter

Pros: Bat is fantastic. I'm 14 and I'm usually a contact hitter that hits singles and occasional doubles... But with this bat I'm batting at least .500 with 7 triples and 1 HR on a 325 fence. Overall bat has great pop and good sweet spot. I say it's as good if not better than some composite bats.

Cons: Paint chips a little after maybe 200 hits.

Pros: I have had this bat from the moment it came out. I hit 500 swings everyday and the pop gets better and better. It may sound like wood, but I think the sound is pretty cool. If you get jammed off the handle it makes a ping but it can still travel pretty far. BUY THIS BAT! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

Cons: None unless you care if the grip gets dirty.

Pros: no sting balanced weight wood bat feel I bought this bat off of my friend for 150 after he had only used it in one scrimmage. It took a couple of practices before breaking it in but by the time games started it was as hot as the Voodoo or 5150. I love this bat and will look to keep buying it in the future.

Cons: feels heavy when not hit on sweet spot If the ball is not hit directly on the sweet spot it feels like its dead, but of course this comes from the bbcor requirements

Pros: has pop right out of the wrapper

Cons: Breaks all the time. Have had three of these on my team...every one has broken...the discs inside snap loose and rattle in the barrel...EVERYONE I have used and had on our team. 3 OF THEM. The bat does not last a year. The last one broke while my son was SWINGING ON DECK! Totally flawed design. Yes, you can send it in for a replacement but the next one will break too. Not worth it if you are a serious ball player using your bat more than 5 times a week. And, no, we never hit anything other than leather baseballs...it's the bat that is the problem.

Cons: This bat is awful. I loved exos and used them for almost my whole life, but this bat is a complete disappointment. AWFUL POP Rick player

Pros: Durable

Cons: I have this bat, and I also have the XL-1. I bought this bat and it felt ok, but the pop was terrible. I thought maybe it was the same with all BBCOR bats. However, after using the Xl-1, it was like night and day. DO NOT GET THIS BAT! My XL-1 has 6 times the pop that this bat has. trust me, do not get this Exogrid!

Favorite bat Brady player

Pros: When using this bat I no longer find the need to use batting gloves as the grip is so soft and comfortable. Making contact with this bat often turns into a base hit due to the great amount of pop.

Cons: I've used it for almost a year and there is a piece loose in the handle but is easily fixed.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID 2 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB12EX2? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is this an illegal bat? Baseball
This is a legal bat for this year and next year. This bat meets the new BBCOR standards and will be able to be used beyond this year.
Brett
so you can use this bat this year in highschool and next year? julian
Yes, you will be able to use this bat this year and next year.
Brett
how does it compare to the other bats like the voodoo or 5150 or any other bats? does it have as much pop as the last exo? drink it all
This is a BBCOR certified bat and it doesn't have quite as much pop as last years Exogrid. From feeback I've heard, this bat will be pretty much on par with the BBCOR Voodoo in terms of performance. I would also put this bat a notch above the 5150 BBCOR based on feedback from customers.
John
So is this bat better then the NEW VOODOO I need to know? Gerardo Munoz
The 2012 BBCOR Exogrid is going to be one of the hottest BBCOR bats on the market. Louisville Slugger has pushed the limits of the BBCOR certifications and made one of the hottest bats.
Brett

Brett
say if the rings inside were to break loose and i sent it in for a replacement bat and then the same thing happened again would i get a 3rd or no? baseballkiddd
When you buy a bat from us, you have a one year warranty through the manufacture for one replacement bat. If it happens a second time, you will need to contact the manufacture for a replacement. Manufactures deal with that case by case.
Brett
How would you compare the swing weight (balance) of the Exogrid to the Voodoo? Steve
The Exogrid is a more balanced bat than the Voodoo. The Voodoo will have a slight end loaded feel.
Kris
Is this bat for power hitters? EXO-BAT
This bat is going to be more for a contact hitter. This is a one piece bat. One piece bats are more for contact hitters and 2 piece bats are more for a power hitter. One piece bats have more flex then the 2 piece bats.
Todd
I'm confused. "Todd" says a one-piece bat is more flexible. However, someone else asked a similar question for the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR and "John" says the opposite! Please explain. Thanks EXO-BAT
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We don't have any Todd's here, so that answer must have been submitted by a customer or someone outside the company. It shouldn't have been posted. One-piece bats are stiffer than two-piece bats. One-piece bats will flex less and are often preferred by power hitters. Two-piece bats will offer more flex and are often preferred by contact hitters.
TJ
Is this bat BBCOR better than the omaha and the 5150? JO
This is going to be one of the better aluminum barrel BBCOR bats on the market. Year after year the Exogrid is one of the best made bats out there and that is not different this year. This bat will have some of the best pop out of all the aluminum BBCOR bats.
Todd
My son is six foot four 220 lbs and a senior in high school. Would u reccomend the exogrid2 or the new voodoo bbcor rbi
Voodoo for sure !!! My son is 6'1 210 used to hit the exo 420 now the BBCOR exo he hits less than 350. Tried the Voodoo and it's probably 30 ft further. The new exo is a DEAD bat !!
Joshbighitter
Is this bat better than the Demarini CF5? Longhorn
Both bats are going to be great options, the Demarini CF5 is a two piece bat with a slight endloaded feel, the Exogrid 2 is going to be a one piece bat with composite inserts in the barrel to make it a stiffer feel.
Sean
What would be the best bbcor bat for a 5'3 100 pound lead-off type hitter who wants to hit the ball solid and into the gaps? (A contact hitter who hits mostly singles and doubles) Steve
It is really going to go down to personal preference. If you give us a call at 1-866-321-2287 we will be able to narrow down the choices for you.

I am a hitter for contact and quick swings and I was wondering if this bat would reach my needs or not, but if it doesn't, what bat would be good for me joe
Yes, the Exogrid 2 is a very good bat, it is going to have a balanced feel which is geared toward contact hitters and is going to have quite a bit of pop
Sean
is this bat topheavy like other bbcor bats ? pacebaseball7
This bat is going to have a very balanced feel. It will not have an endloaded feel like other BBCOr bats
John
Is my 2011 exogrid2 still legal for this next year, it does not say bbcorr on it Rod
All -3 bats will have to be BBCOR certified for 2012 in order to be legal. Bats with out the stamp will be illegal.
Kris
whats the big difference between this exo and the previous year exo's? nickypoo
The main difference between this years exo and the previous models is that this bat is going to have the new BBCOR stamp on the bat so that it is high school and college approved
John
Besides the price difference, what is the comparison between this Exo and the Marucci Cat 5? Chris
Both are going to have a tremendous amount of pop, the exogrid is going to be a stiffer bat than the Marucci cat 5
John
What is the overall weight of the bat and how does that compare to a 31"x28 oz bat for overall weight. dave
All BBCOR bats are -3 length to weight ratio. The 31-28 bat you mentioned is also a -3. Which is the length of the bat, mimus the weight of the bat, that's where the -3 comes from.
lkh
I am confused, is my 2011 exogrid 2 still good for 2012 with bbcorr rules. Jake
No the 2011 is BESR certified, and will not meet BBCOR standards.
lkh
How does this bat compare to the Nike MC2 aguggs99
They are both very good options. Both are very similar in performance and durability but the Exogrid may be a bit of stiffer bat.
Mark
Which BBCOR bat would be better the 31/28 Z1000 or the 31/28 Exo Grid? larry
Both are very high performing models. Both are stiffer bats. It depends if you are looking to go with a composite or an alloy. We have have very good customer feedback from both.
Mark
Is this bat a well balenced bat or is it end weighted? Robthepitcher19
I could say it is pretty well balanced. I've heard from one or two customers who have said they thought it felt a little top heavy, but based on my personal experience and most of the customer's I spoken with, this is a pretty balanced bat.
TJ
Is it balanced? I have a son who is playing 14U and under 100lbs. He is going to have a hard time swinging drop 3 bats. Which bat would you recommend for this issue? bugzz
The Exogrid is an excellent bat, though for his size and being new to the -3, there are several that might suit his need a little better. Give our reps a call and they can give you more detailed info to help you.
Linda
Can I use this bat in the USSSA 12U? North Texas Patriots
This doesn't have a USSSA stamp, so it will not be legal in 2012.
Kara
What bat would be a better bat for quick swings, and line drives the exogrid 2, or the 2012 vooDoo j\
Both bats are very well balanced bats for a quick swing and line drives. Either one of these bats will be a good choice.
Kris
Is the 2012 DeMarini vexxum more or less end loaded than this? Gman
Both are slightly end-loaded, and I would say the Exogrid2 is a little more end-loaded than the Vexxum
Derek
Can you use this bat if in 2012 you play 14U in USSSA? baseball player
If you can use adult -3 bats, then yes, you can use this bat. It is BBCOR certified.
Derek
For a hitter who hits line shots (power) which bat would be more effective 2012 voodoo bbcor or exogrid2 bbcor 2012? win3
The Exogrid2 would be better suited for a power hitter. It is a stiffer, one-piece bat that is commonly preferred by power hitters.
Derek
is this better than the 2012 omaha? giantfan
They are different in design so each one has a different feel. The Omaha is a one piece all alloy, the Exogrid2 is a one piece but has the carbon composite inserts in the handle. Both have great pop.
Linda
Honestly which bat is better, the Exogrid2 or the Marucci Cat5? Gopher19
The Cat5 is a 1 piece all aluminum bat with with great pop. The Exogrid2 is a 1 piece with the alloy barrel and the carbon composite inserts in the handle. The Cat5 is balanced and the Exo is slightly end weighted for great power throw the swing.
Linda
can you get this bat in a 31 inch 27 ounce model and if so what would it be called? seinior leauge/adult/ youth? parker
As of 11/7/2011 we are sold out of that size. We will be getting more of these soon. Once you see that size online we have them in stock.
KG
I heard that the rings inside of the bat come loose is that true. d
I have not heard of that issue happening. If it does happen it is not a common occurrence.
Sean
Is this bat top heavy or is the weight spread out between the bat? MCP
The swing weight on the BB12EX2 is more balanced.
Derek
Is this bat end-loaded or top heavy? Or is it balanced out? baseballswagg
This is going to be a balanced bat.
John
Is this bat legal for babe ruth baseball. tee
If Babe Ruth requires BBCOR bats then this is legal. Most younger players require a Senior League or Youth bat.
Kara
How does this bat compare with baum bats, are they pretty much the same or are these still better? tjacobs61
The Baum Bat is completely unique and not like any other bat on the market. The Exogrid2 will be higher performing than the Baum, but the Baum may have an edge in durablity.
TJ
My son is most content with the EXO series of bats. I am intending to purchase this bat in the near future but have read in MANY reviews that a ring or something has come loose in the barrels. Is this a commons/systemic problem with this bat? J Will
That can happen, though it is not a high perecentage that it does happen to. That is why Louisville offers the 1 yr Manufacturer's warranty.
Linda
Is the new BBCOR Exogrid 2 better for line drives or the new BBCOR Voodoo better? this guy
Both are great options for line drive hitters
john
Does this or the voodoo have better pop whitecaps32
Both are going to have a lot of pop
Sean
Is this bat top heavy or evened out weight? bryce
It is slightly end weighted, though not a full end load.
Linda
Is this bat USSSA certified? Debra
BBCOR bats are not required to have the USSSA stamp. Most leagues of 14 and older require either the BBCOR OR the USSSA.
Linda
on a scale of 1 to 10, with wood being 1 and 2010exo(non bbcor)being a 10,where does this bat rate big t
I would put this about a 8-9. Even though it is BBCOR it has great pop.
Linda
Is this bat top heavy or is it well balanced? Deisel
It is slightly end weighted.
Linda
I am looking for a BBCOR bat for my 13 yr old son and can not decide between the TPX Exo, TPX Z1000, D Voodoo and the Rip It Prototype II...he is primarily a contact hitter with good pop to the alleys; how would you rank these bats based on this? kmac
For a contact hitter I would recommend a two piece bat like the Voodoo. The Exogrid is going to be stiffer and better suited for a power hitter.
Kara
I am a base hit hitter and honestly I am not strog at all... and I am thinking to buy a TPX EXO G 2 or a TPX Z-1000. wich one has more pop and wich one feels lighter(to have faster bat swing)? Wich one does have heavyer top? Which one has more chance to break? Wich one would you recommend? Are there any other BBCOR bats that feels pretty light? dave
I would advise you to look for a balanced, two-piece bat. We have several; like the Marucci Black, the Demarini Voodoo or CF5, and the Easton S2 or Surge. The bats you refer to are one piece. The Z1000 is more balanced, and the Exo Grid is a little more end loaded. Feel free to call us to further discuss your options
Bodie
My 14 year old Loves the EXO bats, all he has used for 6 years. How does this compare to the Marucci bats that seem so popular? Kelley
The Exogrid is going to be very comparable to the Marucci bats. Both use top of the line alloy.
K.B.
Would you prefer this bat over the -3 Cf5? beastmode
My personal preference is the Exogrid2, because I like the sweet spot and immediate pop.
Linda
difference exogride and dem m2m dave
The Exogrid is a one piece alloy with composite inserts, the M2m is a 2 piece full alloy.
Linda
what is the difference between this and the exogrid with the power disk phil
The BB12EX2 does have power discs already inserted in the handle.
Ryan
I am looking to get either the exogrid2, the marucci black, and the demarini cf5. I am a singles doubles hitter. I have learned a lot about all the bats and they have all good pop. I am going into high school and want to know which of the bats would be best for me. It needs to have great pop well balanced, and needs to be durable. Thankyou. C
All these bat meet the requirements and standards that you are looking for. The bat the is ooing to be the most balanced is going to be the Marucci Black. It is also going to help improve your swing speed and have more pop.
Ryan
are you sure you can use this bat next year? tonto
As far as we know right now (1/27/2011) this bat will be approved.
John
Can this bat be used in highschool and USSSA leagues? j
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2 BBCOR is legal for play in both high school and USSSA leagues.
Brad
Would you recommend this bat or the Easton Omen BBCOR? anitbiin
It depends on the type of hitter I'm making the recommendation for. For a strong power hitter, I would recommend the Exogrid2. For a player who doesn't hit for power, I would recommend the Omen.
Tyler
I'm a contact hitter and want a extremely well balanced bat. Would you recommend this or the Easton S2? Also, do you know of anyother well balanced bats? Thanks! Bob
Both bats are very balanced. If you are a contact hitter, the Easton S2 might better suit your needs. Most contact hitters prefer a two piece bat instead of a one piece, like the Exogrid 2. However, a contact hitter can still use a one piece bat, and if you prefer a one piece over a two piece, the Exogrid 2 is definitely a great bat!
Jennifer
The S2 will be a little more balanced than the Exogrid2. The Easton S1, Easton S3 and Rawlings 5150 Velo are also great options that are very well balanced.
Tyler
Can I send this bat back if I don't like it? Sean
There is no time frame that UNUSED items in their original condition may be returned for exchange or refund.
Kris
Is the weight in this bat evenly distributed? Rjj45
The weight in this bat is pretty evenly distributed. It should not have an end loaded feel.
Jennifer
Hi, I was just wondering if this would be a good choice for a 5'7, and 125 pound 13 year old, He's pretty strong for his age group (13-14). Also, he's batting with pitches at 60-70 mph. If this is not a good choice, could you tell me what is? Thanks. Dogwood678
If your son is a power hitter, then this bat would be a perfect option for him! It is a stiff one piece design that really suits power hitters. However if he is more of a contact or gap hitter I would suggest checking out a two piece bat that will offer more flex and be better suited for him. Some of our best selling two piece adult bats are the Easton S1 or S2, the DeMarini Voodoo, or the Marucci Black just to name a few.
Jennifer
Hi, I was wondering if this bat has an end-loaded feel, if so can you tell me what balanced BBCOR bats you have in stock? Thanks. JaktoDaXT
The Exogrid is a balanced bat. The Easton S3 and Rawlings 5150 are also good balanced bats.
KB

The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2 BBCOR would be a great light weight bat for you.
Kara
I'm 5'6 110 pounds and I'm going into high school next year. I'm looking to get the TPX Exogrid 2. What size should I get? cole

Kara
What is the difference between the BB12EX2 and the BBX12EX2? exogrid
The only difference between the BB12EX2 and the BBX12EX2 is the graphics. These two bats are manufactured with the same materials and have the same great pop.
Kris
I am 13 years old playing up 14u i am 5'11 185 lbs what size should i get Ocampo
We would suggest a 34" inch bat or a 33" inch bat.
Ryan
When is Louisville Slugger going to release their 2013 BBCOR bats because i see college teams already using them? Emilio
We don't have a firm ETA at this time, but look for Louisville's new 2013 bats around mid-summer.
Tyler
I am a 12yr old ball player just moving up to the full field. I have trained with a -3 for 2yrs and was wondering about what size(length) I should purchase. I am about 5'8" and 130lbs. Thank you. WhizKids #24
A 31" 28oz model would be recommended based on your height and weight.
Tyler
I am a 6-2 singles/doubles hitter with the ocassional long ball. Im looking for a bat that is not top heavy and would be easy to whip through the zone. Which TPX bat would be best for me? bfink
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2 BBCOR: BB12EX2 is a fantastic option. It features Louisville Sluggers AC21 Scandium Alloy with composite inserts in the bats handle. Here is a link to the Louisville Slugger TPX Z1000 which would be another great option for you. http://www.justbats.com/product/2012-louisville-slugger-tpx-z-1000-bbcor--bb12z-adult/13554/
Tom
What weight should I get? I want a -3. I am 13 yrs old and 4'10 and 78 pounds. aumiller
We recommend a 29" 26 oz. based on your height and weight.
Kara
When is Louisville Slugger going to release new 2013 EXOGRID? Huntman16
We do not have an exact release date. Normally they release their new versions in the fall.
Kara
I use a 33in/30oz -3 bat and I have lot of power which bat should I use? handyman
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2 BBCOR: BB12EX2 would be a good choice for you. It is a one-piece alloy bat which is popular for power hitters. You may also want to consider a bat with an endload.
Nick D
Why has the price of this bat dropped so much? Also which bat has a bigger sweet spot, the TPX Exogrid BBCOR or the Easton S3 BBCOR? Will the TPX reduce sting? The Hitter
The Louisville Slugger TPX Exogrid2 is a discontinued model. The new models will be released in the fall. Both the TPX and the Easton S3 BBCOR will be comparable on the sweet spots. The TPX will reduce sting because of the composite inserts in the handle.
Damon
Is this bat top heavy? beastmode59
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2 BBCOR is a balanced bat.
Kara
I am 13 and 5'10" and 150 pounds. I have an EXOGRID2 32" 29oz. and I was wondering if it was a good size and weight for me? Also I am a power hitter. whalers31
According to our Bat Coach, for your particular height and weight, a 32" 29 oz. bat is recommended.
Nick K.
Hi, my son uses the easton s3 and i like the bat, but the i personally feel the bat dents too easily. i would like to know if the exo grid or the triton are more balanced or end loaded than the s3 and are either bat more durable than the s3. thanks Randy
The Exogrid and Triton are both fairly well balanced, but they won't be as balanced as the S3. I would give the Exogrid and Triton an advantage in durability as well.
Tyler
Which bat has more pop between the EXOGRID2 and the Easton S3? that one guy
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2 and the Easton S3 are both high performing bats that have a lot of pop and excellent durability.
Nick K.
Is this bat good for a power hitter? pp
Yes the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2 BBCOR: BB12EX2 features a high performing SC21 Scandium Alloy in the barrel. The one-piece design is great for power hitters.
Tom
is the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2 BBCOR: BB12EX2 a well balanced bat? cj
Yes, the Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2 is a very balanced bat.
Sean
I'm a contact hitter with alot of power and a freshman in high school. Would you recommend me to get the Louisville Slugger TPX Exogrid2, the Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha, The 2013 DeMarini Voodoo, or the 2013 DeMarini CF5? swagwags
If you are a contact hitter with a lot of power, I would go with a two-piece composite. The two-piece will alloy some flex for swing speed and the composite will have some more pop. The only model that meets these specifications of the ones you mentioned is the 2013 DeMarini CF5.
Damon
I'm going to high school next year and need to buy a BBCOR bat to get used to a BBCOR. I want to get the EXOGRID2 or the Easton Surge for $100 but I'd like to know how worn out this bat will be if I get it buy next high school season. So with bat do you think would last longer and would you recommend? robster
Both the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2 BBCOR and the Easton Surge will be very durable. The EXOGRID2 is a one-piece bat, better suited for a power hitter. The longevity of the bats really depends on the amount of use.
Kara
Wondering about the size I should purchase this bat in. I am 5' 10" 170lbs turning 14 in November and I was going to get the 33" 30 oz. because I've been using 32" since little league. Could you give me your opinion? Andy
The 32" 29 oz. or the 33" 30 oz. would both be good fits for you. The 33" 30 oz. might be better if you are looking to use your Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2 for more than one year since you will continue to grow.
Tom
Which big barrel bat is better for a power hitter a COMbat B3 BBCOR or the Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2 BBCOR? Ironmike
The COMBAT B3 BBCOR will be better for a power hitter because it is a one-piece composite design.
Damon
should i get a 2010 model or this one? tim
The 2012 TPX Exogrid will not be BBCOR certified, so the 2012 model would be the way to go.
Zach
My son is an incoming HS freshman. He's 6'1" 165 lbs. and a power hitter. Always had good success with TPX bats (used H2 models for last 4 years). Not sure whether to go with the Exogrid2 (BB12EX2) or the Z-1000 (BB12Z). Which bat would you recommend for him? As far as bat size is concerned ... I'm thinking size should be 34"-31oz (was using 32"-27oz last 2 yrs). KCampbell
The Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2 BBCOR: BB12EX2 is a one-piece fully aluminum bat with composite inserts in the handle and the the Louisville Slugger TPX Z-1000 is a one-piece fully composite bat. Both bats will be excellent options for a power hitter like your son. We would recommend using a 33" 30 oz. If he has exceptional bat speed then you could consider a 34".
Tom
Will there be a significant performance difference in this model and the 2013 model? Cab
The 2013 models will not be released until November, so we don't have any specs on those yet.
Damon
Im 5'7 what size do i need? ndawg009988
I recommend our Bat Coach. It's a great tool: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Tyler
What bat would be a better choice between a TPX Exo BBCOR or a Combat 52 Caliber BBCOR. My son is 5' 8" 135lbs. Currently using a H2 31/26 -5 / very fast bat speed. HecTech
Both the Louisville Exogrid2 and COMBAT 52 Caliber are decently balanced bats, but the Exogrid2 may have just a slightly more end-loaded feel. If your son has above average swing speed, either would be a good option, but the slightly more end-loaded feel of the Exogrid2 may be more beneficial to him.
Tyler
How balanced is this bat? MichaelCruz
Thank you for the question. The Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2 BBCOR is a balanced model.
Nick
When did the EXOGRID 2 come out? BDUB
The Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2 was released in 2011.
Kara
I am a line drive hitter who likes to hit for power. Should I get the EXOGRID 2 or the 2012 CF5? patrick
Both bats would work great for a contact hitter looking for some more power. The main difference is that the Louisville Slugger EXOGRID 2 is a one-piece fully aluminum design, whereas the DeMarini CF5 is a two-piece fully composite bat.
Tom
When did the EXOGRID 2 come out? BDUB
This Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID 2 was released in November of 2011. The new model of the Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID will be released this November.
Tom
When the composite barrell was banned from some leagues where composite handles banned to? A.J.
Most leagues that banned full composite bats still allow alloy bats with composite handles. I recommend checking with your coach or league director to confirm though.

I just ordered this bat from this website and i play travel baseball. I practice every Saturday over the winter from 8-10. If I use this every practice in the cages will it ruin the pop? Tyler L
If the Exo 2 is your game bat, than we do not recommend using it in the cage. Cage balls are built for durability and are very dense in design. Extended cage use can lead to dents in the barrel and a possible decline in performance. Use real baseballs in your cage work if possible.
John
What are the differences between this Exo and the new Exo 3? Munro
The new Exogrid 3 features Louisville's new Flex-Band Technology. Rather than thickening the walls of bats to bring them in line with BBCOR standards, Louisville Slugger inserted a very light one inch wide graphite band. Not only does this flex-band give the Exogrid 3 one of the lowest swing weight available in its BBCOR hybrid class, it is small enough that the sweet spot feels just like high performing BESR bats of the past.
Tyler

How does this bat do in the cold? It gets very cold where I live. griffdawg47
The Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID 2 BBCOR has an aluminum barrel, which will dent when temperatures get below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Unfortunately, no bat will do very well in temperatures much colder than 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Aluminum bats tend to dent, where composite bats will crack.

out of the exogrid 2 the velo and the demarini versus which has the most pop? campus 15
Unfortunately, one is not proven to outperform the other. This EXOGRID 2 is a great bat but often has a heavier feel to players. The VELO would be the lightest-swinging bat out of the group. And the Versus would offer protection from sting with the two-piece design. All of these bats are BBCOR certified, so it's important to fit the style of the bat to your preference to get the best results.

According to the reviews, these bats seem to break quite often. How is the durability on these bats and is it risky to buy one? Tyson
Any bat being bought that is nearly 10 years old (This is a 2012 model), I would be wary of any used model. If new, it should be a very solid model.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
