Description

Since 1884, Louisville Slugger has been on the cutting edge of bat technology. This year the TPX line brings a new dimension in performance technology to the table. The EXOGRID2 is one of the most innovative bats to ever hit the market. Inside the bat, the heart of the EXOGRID2 can be found in the form of an internal carbon composite sleeve. This provides greater handle stiffness than alloy alone ever could. The outside starts with Louisville Slugger's SC21 Scandium Alloy, which is one of the most durable and responsive alloys on the market. Moving toward the handle you'll find that the metal is trimmed into a grid-like pattern and replaced with carbon composite inserts. These inserts are several times stronger than the metal they replace which gives the EXOGRID2 not only it's name, but it's unwavering durability. All of these parts are brought together using Louisville Slugger's EXOGRID Bi/Fusion Process, where a combination of heat and extreme pressure bond everything into a single, solid unit. New for the BBCOR model this year is Power Disc Technology. Two independent discs are positioned inside the barrel to allow for peak performance around the sweetspot, and providing an oversized hitting surface and balanced swing weight. Not only will you get a higher performing swing with the EXOGRID2, you'll get a better feeling one! Louisville Slugger: Intimidate at the Plate! The EXOGRID2 is BBCOR certified and legal for high school and collegiate play. It carries a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: I can't comment on every aspect since Ive only used it in one game, but so far it is a great bat. It has great pop for a BBCOR bat, has a nice ping sound but not much vibration around the hands. Ive been using two piece bats for the last couple, and this was a great switch, and I recommend it for precision and power hitters You feel more connected with a one piece, so it is easier to control, and you also get power if you a hard swing with Louisville's signature stiff handle. It also has a nice Ping sound and the ball will fly. Colors are cool too.

Cons: Since I was previously using an Easton S2, the swing weight of the eco is slightly higher compared to it. If you don't have a need for ridiculous swing speeds, then this is a great bat (this does have great balance though)

Pros: This is by far the hottest BBCOR bat I've used. And I've used a lot. I honestly can't tell a difference in the pop. Balanced weight, great feel.

Cons: Pretty small sweet spot, but if you're a good hitter, it shouldn't be hard getting the barrel to the ball.

Which is bettter, Exogrid of the Easton S1? bk12341
The Exogrid and the S1 are very different bats. If you are more of a power hitter, go with the Exogrid because it has a one-piece alloy design. If you are a contact or gap to gap hitter, the S1 will be a better choice. The S1 is a two-piece composite bat with a balanced swing weight.
Nick D
is the BBX12EX2 better then the BB12EX2? HR
The only difference between the two bats is that the Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2 BBCOR: BBX12EX2 has a stiff flex handle for more power.
Nick D
Are the Exogrid2 and Z-1000 similar bats? My son uses a Z-1000 and we are now looking for a new bat. He really likes the Z-1000 and has seen the Exo2, the Z-1000, and thinking maybe CF5 as well. Are these all different? Batchallenged
Yes, all of the bats will be different designs. The DeMarini CF5 BBCOR will be a two-piece, fully composite bat. It will have a very balanced swing weight. The Z-1000 will be a one-piece, fully composite bat. It will swing slightly heavier compared to the CF5. The Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2 BBCOR: BBX12EX2 Adult will be a two-piece, half and half design. The handle piece will be composite, while the barrel will be alloy. All would be a very good choice.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
