Pros: Very nice looking bat. My son loved his new present I gave him. He liked that it was a little lighter than his old bat. He had two nice hits in his first game with it. Hopefully more to come after those! I would definitely recommend this to any parent for their son.

Cons: None.

Pros: The bat is lightweight which is nice for my 7 year old. The bat is solid compared to lighter bats made for tee ball, it doesn't dent like some other bats we've had.

Cons: The barrell area is small so the sweet spot is not as large as some bats. A bit over priced for what you get in my opinion.

Pros: This bat is OFF th chain. The pop in it is outrageous, and the look is great also. My 5 yr old uses the 26" by 13.5 and gets it around without a problem. It has become the teams favorite bat. I'll recomened it to anyone..

Cons: sweet spot is kind of small .So the it can take a few for kids to get used to in the beginning.

Pros: Very light weight to generate more bat speed, My son is ten and we went down in weight and up in lenght. I got the 30" 16.5 OZ. I beleive the lighter the bat the better a kid can swing it, not to mention turn on an inside pitch. My son is left handed and can really pull this bat around, and jump on an inside pitch, and all others.

Cons: Maybe the sweet spot could have been larger, but I would rather have the light weight and smaller spot.

Pros: YB116 - 27" I have a SKINNY 7 year old who's not as strong as other on his team. This is a perfect bat for him. It is beyond light and he doesn't drag it through the zone. His bat speed has increased and he's driving the ball with much more power. He really loves this bat. I should have bought it a lot sooner. I missed a whole indoor season because I didn't want to pay the money. Big mistake!

Pros: Bought this bat (28/14.5)for my 6 yr old son who weighs 38 lbs. He couldnt hit one ball from the machine before he got it and last practice he only missed one. You should have seen his smile!! Only one practice but already worth it.

Cons: don't have any yet.

Pros: Nice looking bat, my son is 8 weighs around 60lbs and has no problem swinging it...

Cons: The only complaint is that it stings too much, if you purchase this bat make sure you son wears batting gloves... even then he may still feel a little sting.

Pros: I bought this in a bat pack for my son with the Easton Reflex. Both bats are very good and light weight. My son is 6, 4ft tall and about 60lbs. He calls this bat "black beauty" and has been hitting the ball with no problems in practice. I'm very happy with the deal that we got for both of these bats and the free shipping got it to our door in only 3 days.

Cons: None, great bat, great price.

Pros: Super light. Allows you to teach your youth the proper swing plane and mechanics while making good contact. Builds lots of confidence and loved the sound it makes when you hit it right.

Cons: Small barrel, doesn't look intimidating to a pitcher like those 2 5/8. But it will make you focus more on accuracy rather than power. Power will come when the kids grow a little more.

Pros: Light.

Cons: Bad energy transfer, resulting in MAJOR "bees in the handle." My son complained first time we took BP. I had him throw me a few. Even when drilling one of the sweet spot, the handle was a stinger. Beware.

Pros: None

Cons: The paint is not good because when you hit a lot, the white from the ball gets on the black. UGLY. Sweet spot is soooo small. Now i use a CF5 and a Easton Convert, both better bats. Also, I was in a game, when i hit the ball, this bat snapped in half. Use Demarini, Rawlings, Nike, or Easton. This is not worth the money.

Pros: It is a good bat for contact, but not homers. I use this on the fastest pitchers because of its' light weight so you can really get around on the pitch

Cons: If you're looking for a bat to hit home runs with, don't get this bat. It is for contact

Pros: This bat has great pop and a big sweet spot. One of my favorite bats.

Cons: Suprisingly, this bat is too light. I play travel ball and this is my first year at 50-70 length and I was getting around on the ball too quick

baseball_kid_11

Pros: This bat has amazing swing speed, and is one of my favorite bats. My 30"/16.5oz. bat is extremely light, and the sweet spot is great. I've gotten many base hits with this bat, and it's great for a contact hitter like me.

Cons: The only problems I have with this great bat is the ability to hit with power. Since it's so light, it's quite hard to hit the ball out of the yard. I've only hit one home run in my Little League season with this bat. The bat is easily scratched, but that's it! Good bat overall.

Is this bat good? I'm deciding between demarini voodoo and this. wich one? Hi
The Omaha is a very good bat. However, based on customer feedback, the Voodoo will be a little better performing.
Derek
I have read a couple of comments that the sweet spot is small on this bat: is that true or more of a personal opinion? My son is a pretty strong kid with a quick swing would he lose power by using a bat this light? Jeff
That is really going to just be a personal opinion. It could potentially reduce some of his power by using a lighter bat than he is use to.
Sean
My son is entering the next stage of ball playing at the minors level age 8 to 10 years of age. He has a small frame, very athletic, and under 50lbs. We used a lighter ounce bat so his swinging was good from beginning to end. Also entering the season this year where the bats must be Little League Approved. I know it is printed approved on the barrel, but does that include this year. Also looks longer at the handle than the barrel. Is there another bat you could recommend? I would like to stay away from composite bats please. Thank you in advance. Jerry Jerry
This is a very good all alloy bat that will have great pop. This bat is durable and will offer a large sweet spot for the player. I would also check out the Exogrid in the youth also. That bat has very good pop also.
KG
I'm looking @ this bat & the Omaha Stiff. My son is 10 & is about 5'2" 128lbs. Which bat would you recommend? Dave
Both are great bats, the omaha stiff may be a better feeling bat for your sons height and weight

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
