Pros: I have had this bat for two weeks now and it is one of a kind. We used to swing coach pitch but decided to try this one due to the weight. It feels much more durable than coach pitch bats of the past, and appears to have similar pop. Price is fair compared to other Big Barrel bats. No complaints so far from my 10 year old.

Cons: None so far

Pros: The bat is definitely designed for smaller and lighter hitters. Ball explodes off the bat.

Cons: My son is 9 years old and about 65 lbs. The bat cracked after only about 20 pitches. I give it a minus 2 for durability. Waiting to get the warranty replacement.

Pros: My son loves his bat. He plays Elite level 11u and is only 76 lbs and the drop 12 allows him to use longer bat while still create bat speed. With the new bat rules the Triton is the best -12 on the market.

Cons: Only con is that everyone on the team wants to use it.

Pros: 6 year old coach pitch team loves this bat (27/15). Between this and it's more expensive brother it's all we use.

Cons: Only gave it 4 stars because a 6 yr. old doesn't have the power to see what the bat can do. If it was 25% less expensive I would've bought (2).

Pros: 9 year can get this bat through the strike zone. Machine pitch 40 MPH. Great big sweet spot. It is the kid swinging the bat, but all things being equal, he really gets this bat around much better than his 27 17 Easton.

Cons: 250 bucks. Hard to teach my little guy the value of a buck when I drop this kind of cash on his bat.

Cons: My son used this bat during a hitting expo (indoors). He hit it very well. We purchased it and used it outside 60 degree weather for 2 months and now it sounds like a broken tree branch. For $250 we should get more value for our money. Dont buy this unless you are rich!

Cons: I had one of the earlier tritons and it just broke after 2 years. Many of my teammates had tritons and they all broke within a year of buying it. It lost a lot of its pop pretty quick.Ive hit 3 home runs with it but i expected a lot more.

Pros: So far my 10 year old using the 30/18 has hit a few singles but for the first time ever he hit a HOME RUN. He loves the bat. He said it feels good in his hands and when he is swinging he can easily bring it around. He plays on a 10U travel team.

Cons: The only con, he does not like the tape used for the grip says it feels funny. So the coach will be retaping.

Pros: Bat is light and after 100 hits (breaking in) seemed to have more pop...prior to 100 hits...disappointed in pop. Purchased 30" 18oz, 2 5/8. pReviously, owned 2 3/4, 28" 18oz and this had plently of pop. Maybe adding one more ounce to the 30", 18oz would add more pop. Overall son (10 years old) likes design and feel/pop and other kids on team use the bat.

Pros: I like to use reviews for my choices in purchasing expensive bats. So I will be honest! I brought 2 of these bats for my son and step-son. My 8yr old is about 65lbs so I got him a 28-16oz. My step son is 9yrs old and 79lbs so I got him a 30-18oz. The bat has a really good pop if your kid can hit the ball. Good enough that almost all the kids on the team used it. I was worried about the durability because the whole team was using it. But it lasted the whole season from start to finish and is ready for next season. I can't wait to see the performance next season. Also this bat was $250 when I brought it.

Brett

We are getting more sizes towards the end of September. All options shown are all we have in stock.
Kris
can this bat be used in the little league? (12 years old and under) thanks. DC
Little league only allows 2 1/4" barrel bats, so this bat would not meet the requirements.
John
Can you use this bat in pony ages 13-14 U Gotta Kno
If the league that you are in allows bats that have the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp on the barrel of the bat, then this would be a good bat for you to use in the league. This is a composite bat, so that might be another factor that you might have to look into.
Todd
Can this bat be used in Little League juniors (13-14) in 2012> Steve
If the league that you are in allows bats that have the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp on the barrel of the bat, then this would be a good bat for you to use in the league. This is a composite bat, so that might be another factor that you might have to look into.
Todd
What is the MOI for this bat Brad
With this weight, it is a low MOI.
gman
Is the bat labelled for pony? trying to see if bat is ok to use for pony league (mustangs)?? M.A
Check with your league to see if they allow 2 5/8" barrels, considered to be big barrel.
MMA
What size barrel is this bat? Matt
The barrel of the SL12T is 2 5/8 inches.
John
is this bat approved for use in USABL? rlopresti
This bat is designed for youth big barrel leagues that allow 2 5/8" barrels.
lkh
is the bat labelled approved for play in pony? m.a
This bat will not be approved for Pony League as it has a 2 5/8" barrel size, and Pony allows 2 1/4" in.
lkh
Besides being a little bit lighter, how does the Triton compare to the Catalyst. Both seem to be composite. What does an extra $50 get you with the Triton? baseballdad
Yes, both are composite, but the composite materials are different. The X-1 composite is the newest. Other than that Catalyst is -11, the Triton is -12.
lkh
My 9u son has been hitting with an Easton Stealth CNT for 2 years and Easton Convert for 1 year. Both bats have 2.25 barrels. Should I buy him the 29/17 TriTon II so he can adjust to the 2 5/8 barrel size or stick with the 30/18? Coach Rock
If your goal is to get him used to the big barrel without adding the usual extra weight, the Triton would be excellent for that.
gamer
Will this bat crack because of how light it is? Homerun hitter14
No, the tritons are very durable bats, there should not be a cracking issue with this bat.
Sean
Does this bat have more pop than the Easton Omen XL 2 5/8 -10? How long is the barrel? DJ3K
It will have great pop, but does require a break in time. The Omen also will require a break in. Biggest difference is the Omen is 2 piece and the Triton is 1 piece.
lkh
What's the difference in the vertex senior league and this bat? My son used the older triton and went with the vertex when he needed a bat before the new triton came out. Which would be better for a 12u player. Cwj837
The Triton is a one piece all composite bat. The Vertex is a 2 piece hybrid with an alloy barrel and composite handle.
lkh
Have a 29/19 now & my son seems to hit well with it. Any benefit to going to a 17 oz Triton? or 18oz with the extra inch? Is lighter always better? scott
No, lighter isn't always better. If he is swinging a 29-19 and is doing well, with good bat speed,I don't think it would actually help him to go 2 full ounces lighter. Depending on his age, if he is 12 or older, a -12 would be way too light.
lkh
not always but it is up to you
mark
My 8yr old son has used the 2011 TPX Triton at a 28" 18oz for a year now, i want to buy the 2012 with the -12 drop, but should i stick with the 28" or move up to 29" for it can last longer, he is 4'3" tall currently. Thanks AJ
If you do go with the -12, I would go ahead and add an inch. It will last a little longer before he outgrows it.
lkh
I have a 8 yr old who plays on a 10u travelball team. What size bat would you recommend. He is 49" tall and 49lbs he needs more bat speed, he has a 28/20 now. bayhawg1
I would suggest dropping a couple of oz for a quicker bat speed.
K.B.
Is this bat a baseball or coach pitch bat? rob
It is a baseball bat but could be used in coach pitch.
Kara
My son will be playing USSSA 10U this coming spring. He is about 57 inches tall and 80lbs. I believe he needs a 29" 17oz. Would you agree? Mark
Based on his height and weight I would suggest a 30" bat.
Kara
My son is 51 inches tall & weighs 70lbs. He used a 28-18 this spring. Would you suggest the 28-16 or 29-17? Fred
For his height and weight I would suggest the 29/17.
Kara
do they a have a warrrior tpx bat 32 by 30 end of barrel with more weight warrior
All senior league bats are going to be between -12 and -5. You are looking for a -2 bat, they do not make this.
Todd
How many swings is normal for a break in period? Popcorn
100-200 swings off a tee or soft toss and rotating the barrel 1/4 inch each swing is recommended to break in a composite bat.
Kara
Is this a senior league bat or a youth big barrel like the youth Demarini CF4..Thanks chip
Senior League and Youth Big Barrel are the same thing because they have a 2 5/8" to 2 3/4" barrel size. Youth bats are 2 1/4 inch barrel.
Kara
Son is 9, 4'4", 75lbs. Has outgrown Rival XXL 27 -10. Would you recommend Triton 29 -12 or B3 28 -10? Are something different? Any new bats on the horizon I should wait for? Tbiles
It is always recommended to move up in weight opposed to moving down or staying put. That being said, I would look for a bat that's at least 18 ounces. The B3 would be a very good option and it is a very popular and high-performing bat. A few other options are the Worth Lithium Edge Prodigy, Marucci Cat 5, and Rawlings 5150. It's hard to beat the B3 though. Easton will have some bats out around the first or second week of November I would also consider. They'll be the Easton S1, S2 and S3.
Jeff
is this bat legal for 10u usssa in georgia 2012 cletus
Yes, the Triton is legal for any league that requires the 2012 USSSA stamp on the bat
Sean
I am trying to decide between the 29/17 and 30/18 Triton. My son will be playing 10 AAA next Spring. Last year he was using a 28/15.5 2 1/4 barrel youth bat. He is 57 inches tall and is about 75 pounds. I was looking at the 29" Omaha but am now looking at the 30" Triton because of the weight. Should I go with the Triton 29" or Triton 30"? baseballdad
With a question as specific as this one it is best to contact us toll free at 1-866-321-2287
Sean
Is this a balanced bat? Jakedog
Yes, it is a balanced bat.
K.B.
Is this bat approved for Babe Ruth little league? slugger72
No, Little League uses 2 1/4 inch barrels. This is a 2 5/8 inch barrel.
K.B.
my son has swung a Triton in the past. he currently swings a ComBAT B2 30-20. If I bought him a Triton II, should I stick with the length he is used to (30"), the weight (20 oz.), or split the difference (31-19)? thanks Jim
The 2012 Triton is a -12. General rule of thumb is you don't want to go down in weight but if you do not more than 1 ounce.
Linda
Is the weight balanced (i.e. is it top heavy or very balanced). I am trying to figure out the lenght -- he has trouble with a 30/20 big barrel where he drops the end. He does fine with his 30/18.5 little barrel. They want him to shorter bat. JC
This will be a balanced bat. The lenght and weight will depend on the players height and weight.
K.B.
What is the diferrence between triton & catalyst? G.L
The only difference is the composite material used. The Triton uses X-1 composite and the Catalyst uses C1C composite materials.
Kara
Is this bat legal for juniors? ADAMS THE BEST
No. This is a composite youth big barrel bat. If you're play in Juniors (Little League) and want to use a composite bat, it must be an adult -3 bat.
TJ
I am considering a 28 (-12) composite bat for my 10 year old son. He is smaller size ball player, very good contact hitter, having used LS TPX Omaha and Easton Rival, both being 28 (-13) one piece alloy bats last year. The LS Omaha was much more end loaded compared to the more balanced Easton Rival (MOI 60). Question: How does the swing weight of the new LS Triton 2 5/8 in. barrel compare to the new Easton S1 2 1/4 in. barrel sized bat? Thanks. Tonto
Is he allowed to use a big barrel bat? If so then look into the S3 model.
Linda
How does this bat compare to the Easton S1. Which would you recommend for a 8 yr.vold with some power? coach
Both are going to be great bat with excellent pop. If you are looking for a lightweight bat then the Triton is a great option.
John
Since this is a drop 12, is the barrel length significantly smaller than similar bats that are a drop 10. Assume the weight has to be removed from somewhere in the bat and they would do it thru reduction of the barrel lenfgth. Dave
No, it's not taken out of the length its taken out of the inside. The walls are usually thinner.
Linda
Does colder weather affect the performance of all composite bats and does it make them more susceptible to cracking? KJ
Yes, colder weather does affect composite bats. Also, yes to increasing the probability of cracking.
Linda
My son is 60" tall and 90 lbs. Currently hitting w/ a Triton 30-18 and hitting well. Want to purchase new 2012 bat. Should I be looking at a 31-19 for future use? th
Yes. I would suggest the 31 inch, 19 oz.
Kara
My son is 57 inches tall and is about 80 pounds. He has a monster swing and I have always gone with the lighter is better method. Should I go with the Triton 29" or Triton 30"? baseballdad
I would suggest getting the 30" bat. This will allow him to grow into the bat and will give him better coverage over the plate.

My son is 8 and swings the Vexxum 28" 18oz bat. It seems end loaded and I would like for him to have a little bit more bat speed. Is the Triton more balanced? TannersDad
The Triton is a well balanced bat and will have very good pop. This bat has a very large sweet spot and will be comparable to other composite barrel bats such as the Omen and the CF5.
KG
What size bat would suggest for a 7 year old that is 4'1" and weighs about 60 pounds? ROB
For a 7 year old I would suggest looking at a 27-29" bat length within this bat.
KG
Here are the specs for our pony league: •2 1/4" bats are legal if they have the Pony Approved BPF 1.15 text or the new stamp that is going on bats. •All 2 5/8" bats (greater than -3) are legal and do not require a mark of any kind •All 2 5/8 -3 bats must be BBCOR certified Does this bat have all these requirements? Anderson99
This has the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp that is required. BBCOR is only required for -3 bats.
Linda
My son is 11 and 5'6" 180lbs and a power hitter. He was using the 31/21 Triton last yr. I heard "the lighter the bat the faster the swing" so I was wondering if a 32/20 would be a good idea? Also, do they make endloaded bats in senior league? Dont know if I should let him stay with a -10 bat or if endloaded would be a good idea for him. parknbob
We suggest moving up in weight each season to help the player get stronger and help them get use to heavier bats as they get older. I would suggest going up in weight first because most of the Senior Leauge bats are balanced.
KG
My son is 54" 79 bls he has the tpx triton 3x 29/19 -10oz he hits great with it but doesn't have the usssa stamp what size woul you recommend with this Triton Baseball mom
If you are going to use the Triton II I would suggest going with either the 31" 19 oz or a 30" 18 oz
Sean
Does this bat have a composite or alloy barrel? our PONY league does not allow composite barrel bats DI
This is an all composite bat.
Kara
I have a 9 yr son who plays on two competitive teams. He is tall for his age. If you had to choose, would you take the Triton II, or the Z1000 John
Personally, I love the Z1000, it has great pop once broken in and I like the balance on it.
Linda
My son is playing 8U select and is smaller but a very good hitter. He's 51lbs and used the CF4 junior big barrel last year (27/15) and we are looking for a new bat this year. We are looking at the Lithium Prodigy, S3 and Triton II. How does the pop of the Triton compare to the other bat and the CF4? H
All of the bats you mention would be excellent choices. The all-composite design of the Triton is very popular, and it does have a lot of pop. However, it does require a break-in period. It really just depends on what type of hitter he is, and what he likes. I have a 9 year old & an 11 year old that swing big barrel bats, and right now they prefer one-piece all aluminum bats, i.e. Prodigy & S3. However, they have swung the others, and like those, as well.
Bodie
Does this bat have a BBCOR logo? Rich
No. Only Adult bats are BBCOR certified.
Kara
Does this bat say approved for Pony League on it? Rich
Yes, it is approved for Pony League.
Kara
What's the model number for this bat? Aaronboy5
The model number is SL12T
Sean
Can I use it in any batting cage. Trav
Yes, you can use this bat in the batting cage
John
My son is playing on a 7U select team (yeah, they start that young now), after playing Little League and rec before. He has been using a 29/16.5 Warrior (can't remember manufacturer) 2 1/4 barrel. We just found out that this new league allows big barrel. He's big for his age, 4'2"-3", 85-90lbs. Would the Triton 2 be a good bat to transition to big barrels with, or should I try to go with something like the Catalyst or Worth Lithium? I've also looked at the 2012 Metalstorm models. He's a lefty and can really get some power when he gets the swing going. Kevin F.
Yes, this would be a great transitional bat for his age. This is one of the lightest big barrels on the market today. I would recommend this for your son because this does have a -12 length to weight ratio.
John
Is there a break in period on the triton? Can it be rolled to quicken the break in period? Bear
Yes, there is a break in period. We recommend around 150-200 swings off the tee or soft toss. Make sure you rotate the barrel of the bat about a quarter of an inch every 15-20 swings to fully break in the composite fibers throughout the barrel. We do not recommend bat rolling.
John
My son who is now 12 had used a 29 inch 19oz Triton 2 5/8 from ages 8-11, the bat had great pop finally cracked last year. He went to a 30 inch 20oz Stealth Speed, okay bat but does not have the same pop at all. He started borrowing a team mates TPX Triton (Blue/yellow) in games and tournaments (much better than the stealth). I want to get a new bat, the Easton S1 has been recommended but I am afraid to go with another Easton Composite bat. Can you give a recommendation regarding the New -12 Triton, -11 Catalyst, or the -10 Easton S1. He plays year round, hits with wood bats during practice and in cages. Hits for high average and has good power. Is the technology between the Stealth Speed and S1 much different. Others with the Stealth Speed on his team had similar experiences. We would be looking for a 20-21oz bat. Thanks BE
They are all very high performing composite barrel bats. It would come down to if you are wanting more bat speed and getting a lighter drop for the bat. The Easton S1 is the replacement for last years Omen.
Billy
Which bat is more balanced, more pop, and lowest m.o.i.? This triton? Or the Easton S1? Thanks 808boyz
This is going to be very comparable. They both are balanced bats and will have good pop to them. The S1 may have a lower MOI, but that has not been tested.
KG
My 8 year old son currently uses a 28" -10 Easton Surge, but I think it is too heavy as he bat speed is a little slow. For the TPX Triton II, what bat length and weight would you recommend? He is 56" tall and weighs 68lbs. bd
The recommended bat size for a child of this size is approximately 29 inches. If the -10 seems to be too heavy for him, and you are looking at this particular bat, I would suggest trying out the 29" 17 oz bat to see if it fits your son better. If you need any other suggestions on different bats, this link will bring up some good options for you to look at: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/. If you have any other questions or need more information about some of the bats, please feel free to give our customer service a call or email at 1-866-321-2287 or support@JustBats.com.
Jennifer
What would be a better bat the Triton or the Catalyst? My son is 7, 60lb, 53" TJ
For someone his size I would suggest the Triton. It is a little lighter than the Catalyst.
KB
This is for my 8 yr. old son ( 27" 15 oz) Is this bat a Kid pitch bat or just a coach pitch? M.P
The SL12T can be used for kid pitch or coach pitch.
Kara
This bat is designed for kid pitch leagues. Senior League bats have more durable barrels than coach pitch bats will due to the wall thickness inside the barrels.
Kris
Is this bat stamped "Approved for Pony Play?" curtis
This bat is a 2 5/8" barrel and does not need "Approved for play in PONY Baseball" to be legal. Only 2 1/4" barrel bats need to be stamped "Approved for PONY play."
Kris
Can we use this in Junior Little League ages 13 & 14? jules
Little League Juniors does not allow composite barrel bats unless they are BBCOR certified. This bat will be deemed illegal for play for Little League Juniors because it is not BBCOR certified.
John
Will this bat have a break in period as in previous composite bats? RG
Yes, the Louisville Slugger Triton II will require a break in because it is a full composite. We recommend taking 150-200 swings off the tee or soft toss and make sure you rotate the bat about a quarter of an inch every 15-20 swings.
John
Does the 32" 20 oz bat have a 2 5/8" barrel donna
Yes. The SL12T has a 2 5/8 inch barrel.
Tyler
My 9 year old son is 4'2'' tall approx. 58 lbs, on the smaller side for his age. He's using a 27/17 white barrel Triton 2-3/4. Would you recommend a 28/18 or the 29/17? Jason
The suggested length for your son to use would be a 28 inch. Depending on his bat speed, I'm confident he would do well using a 29 inch 17 ounce if he decided to do so.
Tom
Is this as good as the old Triton? Reed
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPX Triton II will perform just as well as the old Triton. Louisville Slugger uses top of the line composite materials for great performance and durability.
Kara
I am considering the Triton II or the Z1000. I know the Triton II is solid composite and the Z1000 is 2 piece. Is there an advantage between the two. My son is 10 and is 4'11 and weighs 78 lbs. Tootie
A lot depends on the preference of the player. Two piece bats often offer a little less vibration and more flex. Stronger hitters sometimes prefer one piece bats (that are more stiff) like the Triton over the Z1000. I would stick with a similar model to whatever bat your son has used in the past with success.
Tyler
How does this bat compare to the Marucci Cat 5? Reed
The Triton II is a one piece composite, whereas the Cat 5 is a one piece alloy. Both bats are balanced for quick bat speed.
Damon
My son is 7 and swings an Easton YB11S1 composite bat 30/18. How does this bat compare with the composite bats that Easton has and also other companies as far as durability and pop? JMAR
Both the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPX Triton II and the Easton S1 use top of the line composite materials. The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPX Triton II will be more stiff because it is a one-piece bat, better for a power hitter. Both are very durable and have great pop.
Kara
Is this bat legal for use in Babe Ruth baseball? kyle
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPX Triton II is not legal in Babe Ruth baseball.
Kara
Son has 2011 Triton at 28" 18 oz. No problems with this. Thinking about the 30" 18oz Triton but concerned same weight with 2" longer barrel means same amount of material spread over 2 more inches....any problems with breaking or not enough pop as 28" 18oz. If yes, what other bat at 2 5/8 would you recommend? randy
First of all, we always recommend players move up an ounce or two in weight every time a new bat is purchased. This will help the player as they get older and have to transition to a heavier bat at the High School and sometimes Middle School level. However, the 30" 18 oz Triton has proven to be very durable and will have above average pop, much like the 28" 18 oz Triton.
Tyler
Will this bat be legal in 2013 showtime74
Yes, the 2012 Louisville Slugger TPX Triton II: SL12T will continue to be legal for use in 2013.
Nick D
Is this bat legal for Pony? kgjbn
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPX Triton II is legal for Pony League.
Kara
Does it have good pop, a good feel, and also does it take long to break in? Ms. Ball
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPX Triton II is a very high performing, sweet swinging bat that will require a 150-200 hit break in period.
Nick K.
I just purchased this bat and didn't think about how Composite performs in cold weather? Will this bat be ok in cold weather? Any issue with cracking in cold weather, or not getting the same amount of pop? lbp
The manufacturers recommend that any bat, whether composite or alloy, not be used in temperatures below 50 degrees. Bats will have reduced durability and performance in cold temperatures. They will be slighty more likely to crack, and the ball is not going to jump off of them quite as well.
Nick D
Is it Little League approved? jack
The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPX Triton II is not approved for Little League.
Kara
Do you have this bat in 28" 16oz? OM
The smallest size we currently have available in the Louisville Slugger TPX Triton II is a 30" 18 oz.
Tom
Will this bat be legal in 2013? George
Yes. The 2012 Louisville Slugger TPX Triton II has the USSSA BPF 1.15 stamp.
Damon
How does this bat stack up to the Catalyst and the B3 from COMbat. I'm very interested in all 3 for my 12 year old son. George
All three of these bats are great one-piece fully composite bats. Here is a link for you to further compare the differences in these 3 bats. One thing to consider is in high school he will have to use a BBCOR bat that will have a -3 length to weight ratio. http://www.justbats.com/compare/
Tom
Does the Triton II have a 2012 approved for PONY stamp? Scott
No. Only youth small barrel bats (2 1/4" barrels) are required to have a stamp or marking that says Pony approved.
Tyler
Can you explain the difference between a Louisville Slugger senior league (SL) and youth (YL)? Kirk
Senior league models indicate that it is a big barrel. The barrel size will either be a 2 5/8" or 2 3/4" barrel. Youth model bats will have the small barrel which will be 2 1/4".
John
Are there going to be any different regulations for this bat for use in USSSA tournaments in 2013? Baintrain
The Louisville Slugger TPX Triton II is legal to use in USSSA tournaments for 2013.
Kara
Is the Louisville Slugger TPX Triton 2 sl12t approved for Babe Ruth 13-15 division for the 2013 season? M
Unfortunately, the Louisville SL12T is a composite bat that is not legal in the 13-15 year old division of Babe Ruth.
Tyler
Will this bat ever be in stock as a 32/20? nova nation
No, we are sold out of that particular size but the new model of the Louisville Slugger Triton II which will be released this fall will be offered in the 32" 20 oz. size.
Tom
is this bat approved for use in babe Ruth league? triton
That all depends on the division you are in within Babe Ruth. Here is a link to their website that explains the bat rules for each division: http://www.baberuthleague.org/side-indexes/latest-rule-changes.html
Tyler
Do you still have this bat in 30" 12 oz? I dont' see it listed anymore Also, should I be concerned that the big discount is an indication of issues with the bat? beav
The Louisville Slugger TPX Triton II: SL12T Senior League bat is not produced in a 30" 12 oz model. It's on closeout pricing, and we are passing on the savings we received from manufacturer on to our customers. It is not an indication of "issues" with the bat.
Tyler
Can you use the 28 in 16oz bat in USSSA U9 in 2013? JK
Yes. The Louisville Slugger TPX Triton II: SL12T has the new USSSA stamp (see product images) and will be approved for play in 2013.
Tyler
Is this balanced or end weighted? NedKelley
The Louisville Slugger TPX Triton II is a balanced bat.
Kara
My son is 9 years old and plays on a 10u travel team. His weight is 50 to 55lbs. What length and weight ratio does he need? He needs a lighter bat I think but not sure what bat to get. wes
A lot depends on his height as well as his weight. However, the average size youth big barrel bat for a 9-year-old is 29" with a weight between 19 and 21 oz. I wouldn't recommend moving up more than about 2 oz. in weight compared to the bat he is currently using.
Tyler
What is the difference in this bat, the Triton II SL12 T and the Triton II bat with red graphics that I see on the Louisville Slugger website? O's fan
The Triton II shown on Louisville's website with the red lettering is a youth model with a 2 1/4" barrel. This bat (the Louisville Slugger TPX Triton II: SL12T), is a youth big barrel bat with a 2 5/8" barrel. We here at JustBats.com do not have the youth Triton with the red lettering in stock.
Tyler
I'm really torn between the Triton and the Catalyst. Which one performs better and is more durable. question
The Louisville Slugger TPX Triton II uses a higher grade composite material for better performance and durability.
Kara
My son is playing 11U 50/70 this fall. But it is in Little League and I do not believe this bat is legal because it is composite. He is small and needs a -12 drop as -10 is too heavy for him. Are there any -12, 2 5/8 bats that are not composite and are legal in Little League? Howie K
Alloy and composite 2 5/8 inch barrels are not allowed in Little League 11U. Only 2 1/4 bats are legal in Little League. There are several options for composite youth bats in a -12. There are a few options for you; http://www.justbats.com/products/baseball%20bats~youth/length%20to%20weight%20ratio~-12/material~composite/.
Kara
Can you confirm if this bat can be used in my son's Pinto League U7/8. How can I get confirming documentation that this bat is legal for Pinto League? RGil
According to the rules I see posted online for Pinto baseball, the Louisville Slugger TPX Triton II: SL12T would be legal for use. For official documentation, you will need to contact your league director or coach for your league's official bat rules.
Tyler
My son is 8, 50" and 50 lbs playing in his first kid pitch season. In the past he's used the Worth Prodigy 27/17. With kid pitch I'd like a little more length and less weight, so I like the option of the Triton 28/16 and the Easton S1 28/16. I know the Easton is a Junior big barrel, but he's used a friends and hits it well. He hasn't used the Triton, nor have I seen anyone have it. With his size, he's not a power hitter, but a good contact/line drive hitter. Which would your recommend for him? The Kid
I would absolutely recommend the Triton as it is designed as a bat for kid pitch and will have much better durability versus the higher velocity pitches seen in kid pitch. The S1 Junior Big Barrel is designed for coach pitch and is known to have sub-par durability when used in kid pitch.
Tyler
My son is 10 yrs. old 4'10 and 74lbs. He uses a Triton (2 1/4" barrel) 30/18 and likes it. His bat speed is in the high 50s with exit speed the same during underhand toss. How do I determine what bat would work best for his size? I was thinking of moving to a 31"/18 2 1/4" barrel for increased bat speed but the big barrel bat would be legal for his AAU play. I would like to see it hold up in cold weather in the spring as some game temperatures will be in the 40s-50s. line drive
Our Bat Coach is a great tool to help determine the best length: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/. As far as weight, that's hard for us to determine without being able to see and analyze the players swing. However, as a general rule of thumb, you want to move up 1-2 ounces with every new bat as this will help the player when they eventually have to transition to a big barrel bat or an adult bat at the High School level.
Tyler
I have the TPX Triton 1.15, 2 1/4 barrel, 29"/17, is it legal for girls 10U fastpitch softball, or is this not allowed for softball? If no, is it still a good bat for baseball so I can sell it? Amy
The Louisville Slugger TPX Triton II is not legal for fastpitch softball. It is an excellent baseball bat with great pop.
Kara
How do you know when this bat is broken in? Been hitting and hitting with it, but not getting any difference in result from when we received it. Put several hundred hits on it already. Is there a way to look at it or listen to the sound to know that it's broken in? babe ruth
The Louisville Slugger TPX Triton II: SL12T Senior League bat is a One-Piece all Composite design. We recommend that you break it in by hitting off of a batting tee or soft toss for 100-200 swings before any extended game use. Make sure and rotate the barrel a .25" in your hand after every swing. You will want that entire barrel to get worked over and get broken-in. Once those composite fibers are broken-in you will see increased performance.
Brandon
Is there a certain way you need to break in this bat? the man
The Louisville Slugger TPX Triton II: SL12T Senior League bat features a composite barrel and requires a break-in period of 150-200 hits soft-toss or off a tee, while you rotate the barrel a quarter of an inch.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
