Description

The design that has shocked softball with its cutting edge technology is back and better than ever! The Z-2000 employs S1iD Technology that allows the barrel to flex to its maximum allowable performance level from SWING 1. Two inner discs are positioned inside the barrel at the sweet spot to stop the barrel from from flexing past the legal limit. For players, this means they really do get MAXIMUM performance allowable and a larger performing sweet spot. Louisville Slugger uses their high quality Pure 360 Composite on the Z-2000. This new thinner high-strength and lightweight graphite fiber blend allows for reduced wall thickness, creating better performance while maintaining durability. The thinner fibers have allowed Louisville Slugger to use more layers in the barrel for added strength, but with an overall wall thickness that is thinner. The iST barrel to handle connection gives players maximum performance, even on inside hits. With a balanced swing weight, the Z-2000 is built for performance. For added comfort, the Z-2000 features 7/8" standard handle with a synthetic grip. Louisville Slugger: Be the Best. Or Swing the Rest. The Z-2000 is approved for play in USSSA, NSA, ISA, and ISF. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Just a great bat SoftBawwl player

Pros: Used it in 4 tournaments & have zero complaints. The sweet spot is massive. Vibration is just non existent unless you hit one off the grip... Literally. Also, It's given ME the best distance with softer balls (52/300) than any other bat. And it seemed to start from the first swing.

Cons: No noticeable effect on the performance of the bat, but the first 75 swings or so there was a kind of pingy sound to it.. Since then, it has changed to a nice satisfying crunch.. Never noticed a change in distance. But the sound kinda caught me off guard is all...

great buy sold on the z2000 player

Pros: Hot out of the wrapper tends to be over used but the statement couldn't be any more accurate for this bat. My brother in law has only hit one home run and after using this bat he was easily clearing a 320 foot fence with ease the first round of bp.

Cons: None so far. However have heard of some durability issues, but i haven't encountered any.

Does this bat develop cracks after a few swings? Is that normal? Billy
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Z-2000 Balanced: SBZ214-UB Slow Pitch should not be cracking after a few swings. It may be the marks from the composite barrel breaking in though. Composite barrels do need a period of break-in before they are ready for play in games.

What is the manufacturer's expectation on how many break-in swings it takes to reach optimal level? Any advice besides rotating a bit with each practice cut? Fun
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Z-2000 Balanced: SBZ214-UB Slow Pitch features high quality composite that is hot right out of the wrapper. We still recommend 150-200 swings off of a tee or with soft toss before using in a game. Rotating the barrel throughout the life of the bat will help extend its life. Also, avoid playing in temperatures below 55 degrees to help preserve the bat.
Justin R.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
