Description

New for It's time to step your game up to the NeXT level. The Miken NXT Freak is the bat that's going to take you there. By combining the most advanced layering handle system on the market with Miken's new HBF Technology, the NXT Freak is clearly a cut above the competition. HBF, or Hyperbolic Barrel Flex, Technology allows the multi-layer walls of the NXT Freak to become "fully released" for hot out of the wrapper performance! The proprietary layering of these walls extends the barrel flex to produce a 20% larger sweetspot. Vortex Handle Technology also uses multiple layers, and harnesses the power of composite braids to distribute the load evenly and increase the bat's strength. This also helps all layers move seamlessly together for optimal flex and performance. The whole bat is made from Miken's classic R900 Composite that has proven year after year that it is capable of enduring grueling play and delivering unrivaled performance. Enhancing the NXT Freak's durability even further is Miken's proprietary Durashell Technology (DST). DST acts as a composite shield on the outer shell to maximize out of the wrapper performance and overall bat longevity. An Extreme X-Tack Grip finishes off the NXT Freak to give players the comfort and tack they would expect from a bat this phenomenal. Miken: We Don't Play the Game, We Dominate It! The NXT Freak is approved for play in ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA, and ISF. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: The bat had decent pop out of the wrapper and has gotten better after 50 or 60 hits. I love the balanced feel. The sweet spot definitely seems larger. I'm looking forward to how it performs the more I break it in. This is my first Miken and based on my experience it won't be my last! Great bat so far!

Cons: None yet.

Pros: This is my first Miken freak, I've always purchased De Marini bats. I could feel the difference in the durability and toughness. Solid base hitting bat right out of the wrapper but now that I have about 150 cuts on it, I'm hitting nothing but line drive bombs like nothing I've ever seen.

Cons: Not end loaded enough and Gray diamond grip tape like my Sunday Swagger would have been better.

Pros: Bought this bat to replace a 2004 100mph freak that cracked in half. The 2004 freak was a powerhouse and we were very sad to see it go but we needed a replacement and FAST! This new NXT Freak arrived yesterday and we were able to get approximately 50 practice hits on it before our game, not enough to really break it in but it was a start. Well once the game started we all fell in love with this bat. 8 home runs and numerous frozen rope line drives later we had a slaughter-rule win and had found our new excalibur. It does not have the power of the 100mph freak but it is pretty darn close and I expect it to get better as we continue to break it in. The balance of the bat is excellent and the sweet spot is massive.

Cons: None so far!

Boep

Pros: Felt comfortable in your hands, narrow grip, so built up handle.....bat was used immediately and was great. Line-drives that exploded off the bat. Felt very comfortable and has a very large sweet spot, even hits near the handle had lots of juice. Would reccommend for singles hitters that want some pop.

Cons: Handle was too thin for me, so just had to put in alittle extra wrap around the handle and it felt fine.

Bud

Pros: I was excited about this bat even before I purchased it and 4 games in, I am not disappointed. It took about 25 - 30 hits to get the feel for it but by the end of the 4th game the ball was flying off the bat. Absolutely perfect.

Cons: Feels like a dead bat for the first few swings but quickly heats up in a hurry.

What is the difference between the Balanced and the SuperMax? SoDak
The Balanced Freak is a balanced bat, while the SuperMax is an end loaded bat. The end loaded feel is good for players with powerful swings to help generate more power, while balanced bats are helpful for those that may not have the strongest speed or like the feel of a balanced bat.
Jennifer
Balanced vs end loaded? Molley
The 2013 Miken NXT Freak Balanced ASA: SNXTBA Slow Pitch bat is a balanced bat. Balanced bats are used more frequently by contact hitters, whereas bats that are end-loaded are preferred by power hitters.
Tom
This bat looks to have the new USSSA mark. Is it good for both ASA and USSSA play in 2013? DADDEO
This bat is approved for ASA and USSSA play, and has both stamps indicating as such. These stamps will make the bat legal for play in 2012 and beyond!
Jennifer
I just started playing softball from baseball. I am a good enought hitter to hit to the outfield. Should I use a balanced bat or a end loaded bad for softball? ROHDEDOGG
An end loaded bat is better suited for a player with lots of power. Most beginning players prefer a balanced bat like the 2013 Miken NXT Freak Balanced ASA.
KB
What is the difference in the make-up of the bat b/t the USSSA balanced bat and the ASA balanced bat? Why have both? There must be something different about them, other than one is blue and one is green. Is the ASA bat not as durable? Tracy
ASA and USSSA are completely different governing bodies. ASA has stricter bat standards than USSSA. USSSA has more lenient bat performance standards.
Tyler
I have heard you needed to spin the bat? meaning moving the composites inside the bat so it is a better hit, has anybody heard of this or is it a joke lol.. Thanks guys King
I have never heard of actually rotating the composite material itself. This would be impossible without causing damage to the bat. What they mean is probably just to rotate the bats in your hands between every few hits to make sure you break in the barrel evenly.
Tyler
I typically swing a 27 oz for other non-end weighted bats from other vendors (easton, worth). Should I also be getting 27 oz for the NXT Balanced, or does it swing heavier than most? jlciii
The Miken NXT Freak balanced ASA will not swing heavier so I would recommend going with the same weight.
Damon
Bottom line, for any hitter out there, which bat will help put it out further? The NXT Freak ASA Balanced or SuperMax? islandboi
End loaded bats like the 2013 Miken NXT Freak SuperMax ASA will generate power power and distance.
Kara
Would you recommend this bat for fall league (temp's may get into the 30's by the end of the year). If not what would you recommend? Mike D
The Miken NXT Freak has shown very good durability since it hit the market. I would just be extra careful when using it in temps below 55 or so. Just make sure you limit how many people use it, and how much it is used outside of games.
Tyler
Does this bat hit 52 core balls or only the 44 core balls? Justin
The 2013 Miken NXT Freak Balanced ASA: SNXTBA can be used with .52 and .44 core softballs.
Tyler
Compared to the Miken FX 700, what would be the main difference? Also, currently using a 30 oz bat, but as the leadoff/line drive guy on the team, was thinking of dropping down a size. Would the 27/28oz version help bat speed to generate longer linedrives for a player such as myself? Thanks! Nate
The NXT Freak will have similar construction and pop compared to the FX700. The goal is to swing the heaviest bat you can while still maintaining good swing speed and bat control. If you are struggling with a 30 oz. bat currently, I would recommend moving down to a 28 oz. bat which should improve your bat speed and control.
Tyler
Does this bat have the asa 2004 stamp? Zach
Yes. The 2013 Miken NXT Freak Balanced ASA: SNXTBA has the appropriate ASA stamp you're looking for.
Tyler
Is the NXT Freak Balanced a 100 MPH or a 98 MPH bat? The Mick
The Miken NXT Freak Balanced ASA: SNXTBA has a 98 MPH rating.
Aubrey
I am debating whether to get the Balanced or Maxload bat. I have played baseball all my life and have extremely quick bat speed. I have never been a power hitter in baseball or softball and bat leadoff when I play because I usually hit singles/doubles. Would the Maxload bat increase my power, or should I just go with the Balanced bat? Josh
The 2013 Miken NXT Freak Balanced ASA: SNXTBA Slow Pitch bat sounds like the bat more suited for you. The Maxload version will provide a barrel heavy feel. If you have quick enough hands then I would see no problem as to you using the Maxload version. Typically, power hitters do prefer bats with an end loaded barrel heavy feel.
Brandon
I am debating on which bat to get, this bat or just another Cat bat. I've played softball for about 8 years now and I'm some sort of a powerhouse hitter. I always bat 4th in the line up and I just need a new bat. Bree
The 2013 Miken NXT Freak Balanced ASA: SNXTBA Slow Pitch bat is best suited for players who have average to below average swing speed, or for a player who prefers a balanced bat.
Aubrey
I'm a placement hitter with occasional power and need a new bat. I'm just trying to decide on whether to get the NXT or Miken Ultra. Not sure which is better suited for my play. crzymac
Both are well balanced bats that would work great for you. Based on customer feedback and personal experience, the 2013 Miken NXT Freak Balanced ASA: SNXTBA is known to have just a little more pop though.
Tyler
Does this bat have the 2013 stamp on it? Jamie
The 2013 Miken NXT Freak Balanced ASA: SNXTBA Slow Pitch has the new 2013 USSSA stamp.
Kara
My son currently has the following bat: 2011 Miken Freak DST Slowpitch Softball Bat MFDSTA 26 oz. I am finding it important to locate this bat. What bat in the current Miken range is the replacement for my son's current bat? Thanks for your help in advance. David
The 2013 Miken NXT Freak Balanced ASA: SNXTBA Slow Pitch is the replacement for the MFDSTA. It uses the same R900 composite material as well as new HBF technology for hot out of the wrapper performance. The 2013 Miken NXT Freak Balanced ASA: SNXTBA Slow Pitch also has Vortex Power Source Handle Technology for better durability and performance.
Kara
