Pros: My Son seems to hit very well with this bat (Lots of Pop). He seems to do much better with a balanced feel bat as opposed to an end loaded bat. The two bats he loves to hit are the CP 5150 Composite(outlawed) and this one. Both have a -11 Drop. We have spent some time with the break in procedures and will update when the the spring season starts. So far so good.

Cons: White grip gets dirty quick and seems to come undone quickly. Make sure to keep an eye on this.

Cons: None so far. Will report back later.

batdaddy

Pros: Looks good & nice grip.

Cons: I was surprised to see this bat had a couple good reviews. Bought it three months ago and my 8 yr old has now had plenty of time to break it in. I pitch to our 8U team, so I get a good feel when the ball comes off hot or a flat from the various bats on the team. This bat is a big thud. A few boys have used it, and in comparison to the balls they hit with their Eastons & Louisville Sluggers, the ball just doesn't jump off this Miken. I can't return it because it has held up. I just have to bite the bullet this year on the money lost, and not go back to it.

Pros: Light weight, and easy to swing.

Cons: No pop, dead bat feel, really vibrates hands upon impact with ball.

Pros: It hasn't cracked with me hitting to my team at practice yet is about the only positive thing I can say.

Cons: Dead!!! No pop at all! I thought it just needed some time to break-in but no where near the Easton XL3 he has been swinging. I lost $149 on this one!!

Luke

Pros: Well made, and very manageable for young players. Didn't get to use it unfortunately because of the size of the diameter (illegal size for pony league).

Cons: Didn't have barrel size to exchange the bat for. That was extremely disappointing since the bat was perfect in every other way.

Thud Jon parent

Pros: Light. Feels good to swing. Holds up to punishment.

Cons: Ball doesn't jump off this bat at all. My 7yo regularly drives balls into the outfield with his Louisville Slugger. Struggles to get it out there with this bat. Not sure why. Too light? Smaller sweet spot?

Pros: Great bat. Hits really well out of the box, and automatically added 20-30' to my son's hitting distance.

Not what I was expecting Jomak parent

Pros: It has not cracked

Cons: No pop, zero! The bat is just a dud. I dont mind it for hitting balls for fielding but I never let him use it in games. The coaches would not let him use it either. 7U

Not a good bat kmart coach

Pros: It looks nice and has a great feel

Cons: No pop, we have tried everything for 11 months to get this bat to break in and have pop. Never had any, I guess never will. My son can hit his old easton twice as far, it was really a waste of $$.

Great bat control Coach Anderson coach

Pros: This bat is superlight and if anything handle loaded. So if you have kids who are struggling getting bat speed with a heavier or more end loaded big barrel, this is a great alternative to say a drop 13 2 1/4. I have some 1st and 2nd season kids who love this bat. For eight year olds, the 28" is perfect; even small kids can just choke up an inch or two.

Cons: This is not a home run bat. That is not the intended purpose. For kids who already have good bat speed and control, move on to another bat that is heavier and more endloaded. White is a terrible color for a bat, but, it was on sale. Though they say this is only a coach pitch bat, works for 9U too, up to say 40mph.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Miken REV-EX Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JREV11? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

I'm a huge miken fan. My son has a psycho and a mv-3. But, with the new usssa rules, he needs something new. I would like to purchase this bat, but I'm concerned about buying a bat with no reviews. Can you give me any additional information on this bat, or direct me to where I can find some reviews? Or any suggestions on composite, one piece big barrel bats? Thank you. Jeremy
The Miken REV-EX: JREV11 Junior Big Barrel uses new composite materials and technology for a more durable and high performing bat. It will be similar to the Miken NXT Freak.
Kara
I am thinking about purchasing this bat for my son, however with all the bat rules and changes, I was wondering if it would be legal for Dizzy Dean play in 2013. baseball mom
Yes, the Miken REV-EX: JREV11 Junior Big Barrel will have the new USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp on it making it legal for play in Dizzy Dean baseball.
Noah
Need a coach pitch bat for my 6 year old. The league uses the smaller 8.5" hard balls. Will thi composite bat be a good choice for him. Also, how long is the break-in period. JC
As long as it's a coach pitch league where pitching speeds don't exceed 45 mph, the Miken REV-EX: JREV11 would be an excellent choice. It will take about 100 hits to break-in.
Tyler
Can this bat be used for 9u kid pitch? hitman
No. The Miken REV-EX: JREV11 Junior Big Barrel bat is designed for the slower pitching velocities of Coach Pitch baseball. You will want to look at Senior League bats.
Tyler
Does the bat have a balance or end load feel? Gecco
The Miken REV-EX: JREV11 Junior Big Barrel bat has a lower M.O.I. for faster swing speeds. Meaning it's a well balanced bat.
Tyler
My son is 7 and playing machine pitch, where the speed is set at 40 mph. I have noticed that most of the bats for this say for 40 mph or less. Will this bat hold to these speeds? Recman
The Miken REV-EX: JREV11 Junior Big Barrel and other Junior Big Barrel bats are not constructed for ball players older than 10 years old or pitching faster than 40 MPH. Using these bats in machine or kid pitch leagues is not recommended because these thin-walled bats will crack or dent.
Katie
What is the difference in the "demo" bat with no warranty for $119 and the new bat for $149? I would like to order the demo, but want to make sure I don't buy a bat that has been over used. Brian
The Miken REV-EX: JREV11 Junior Big Barrel DEMO No Warranty bat is a bat sent from the manufacturer to replace a previous unsatisfactory product. There is nothing wrong with the bat, it has not been used. It just comes with no warranty. That is why the bat is at a lower price.
Brandon
My son plays in a 8U Pitching Machine League. He is small and needs help with bat speed. Will the Junior Big Barrel bats hold up to a pitching machine using baseballs? What would you recommend? Hoyt
The Miken REV-EX: JREV11 Junior Big Barrel is intended for use in Coach Pitch only, and will dent in machine or kid pitch leagues. I recommend a Youth Big Barrel bat in a -12, such as the Louisville Slugger TPX Catalyst XL: SL13CXL Senior League, for a player his size.
Katie
I was curious how the REV-EX compares to COMbat B4? How is the sweet spot on this Miken compared to the B4? Jomak
The Miken REV-EX is a coach or machine pitch bat. The COMBAT B4 is a kid pitch bat. Generally, coach pitch bats are higher performing and have a larger sweet spot. However, these bats are not as durable as kid pitch bats.
Justin R.
Does this bat absorb vibration from hitting? Jomak
The Miken REV-EX: JREV11 Junior Big Barrel is a composite bat which will help with sting absorption. A bad hit or off the tip will still cause some sting.
Kevin
Does this bat have a 2 5/8" barrel? herb
No. The Miken REV-EX: JREV11 Junior Big Barrel features a 2 3/4" barrel.
Marcus
Does this bat need to be broken-in? If so, what is the fastest way? wsl
The Miken REV-EX: JREV11 Junior Big Barrel requires a break-in period of 150-200 swings, working up from about 40% to full power at the 150 swing mark. Be sure to use real baseballs and rotate the bat a quarter inch every swing.
Katie
I have a 7 year old playing coach pitch for the first time. He is 60 pounds and about 4'4". Is this bat an option? BTREB
Based on his height and weight, we suggest a 28" Miken REV-EX (JREV11) Junior Big Barrel. Junior Big Barrel bats are designed specifically for coach pitch.
Jason
Is this bat approved for use under Little League regulated coach pitch baseball? Stark
The Miken REV-EX (JREV11) will not be legal for coach pitch leagues governed by Little League rules because its 2 3/4" inch barrel is too big.
Bobby
Can big barrel bats with a 2 3/4 inch barrel diameter be used with kid pitch? mlaflash
The rules for barrel diameter can vary between leagues. The best thing to do is to check with a coach or league official before making a purchase to ensure that you can use a bigger barrel bat. The Miken REV-EX Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JREV11), however, is a coach pitch style bat that would not hold up to kid pitch style play.
