Description

The Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat! Rawlings is out to prove that they truly are on the cutting edge of BBCOR design technology. The original 5150 Alloy BBCOR was one of the first BBCOR bats to hit the market, yet it achieved uncommon staying power and popularity for years after its release. That's because players barely noticed a difference in performance, swing weight, and durability from their BESR bat. Now that Rawlings has had a chance to perfect the design even further, this year's 5150 Alloy BBCOR is sure to be even more popular! The unique feel offered by Rawlings' BBCOR bats is made possible through Precision-Optimized Performance (pOp) Barrel Technology that isolates extra weight to a smaller region of the bat, translating into extra swing speed. Made from the ultra-responsive 5150 Alloy, this one-piece design features an extra-long barrel design and a balanced swing weight that is over 200 M.O.I. better than any other competitor. The end of the barrel features Rawlings' proprietary Bi/fusion process that joins the Comp-Lite end cap to the 5150 Alloy frame to give it more durability and more pop in one single, solitary unit. With a 7/8 Inch tapered handle and premium synthetic grip, the BBCA2 will feel incredible in your hands. Rawlings: The New Standard of Speed! The Rawlings 5150 Alloy: BBCA2 is BBCOR Certified and legal for high school and collegiate play. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: It has a very good pop to it and if you hit it right, it flys. I like the sound of the metal against ball and it makes a loud ping. The grip is very sturdy and you don't need batting gloves when you hit with it.

Cons: The knob of my bat is already dented a tiny bit.

Pros: Like the design and the option of getting it in a 30 inch size. Swings pretty well.

Cons: Have only been able to swing in real game situations twice. It is not as balanced as reported nor is it as balanced as the 2013 Demarini CF5. Do not believe it has the pop of the CF5 but again, I have not used that much at this point.

Pros: just used this bat at a bat demo, the rawlings rep was there. I compared this bat to the Easton S2, S1. My bat speed was much quicker with the 5150. Had great pop also. I cjose the 5150

Cons: to early to tell

Pros: This bat is incredible. You can't get a lot for $200 these days as far as bats are concerned. Thank you Rawlings for making a bat this amazing this affordable. If you've got $200 saved up for a bat, get this one. But if you have an extra $100 get the Velo. This bat is better than the CF5 in my oppinion. Rawlings beat BBCOR's system with this bat.

Cons: Grip doesn't last long. Scratches easily.

Pros: Well balanced.

Cons: Compared to the other BBCOR bats, it doesn't compare to the Easton and Voodoo. This bat isn't as good. Pop isn't as good, grip is terrible, just a long list of cons. Don't get this bat.

Pros: great pop, great grip (with batting gloves), good price, and good balance. i have used most bb cor bats on the market and this is definitely one of, if not, the best choice. i would compare it directly with the easton s1 except the 5150 seems to have a more solid feel off the barrel.

Pros: Great bat. Evenly balanced and not end loaded. Excellent bat for $200.

Cons: The grip could be better so you must wear gloves. Hopefully Rawlings will take note of this and put a better grip on it in the future. Last year's model 5150 and Velo had an excellent grip. This must be corrected for next years model or I may look to switch bats.

Pros: Feels light when you swing it. Has very good pop if you hit it off the sweet spot, also the grip is very grippy. Some kids on my modified school team pick it up and say "I think I'm gonna use this." Overall, it's a great bat and I would recommend it.

Cons: Only con is that when I was playing a scrimmage in a minor league ballpark I placed it in a bat rack and the end got scratched a bit pretty easily, but it's not a problem. Plus, it might have been the rack.

Rawlings 5150 32" -3 Steve parent

Pros: PRO - Previous bat was Marucci Cat5, 31" -5. My son grew 3" to 5'7" and now weighs 130 lb. He had no trouble transitioning to the longer and heavier bat for high school. First two games with new bat, 6 for 6 combined...so good first impression. Excellent bat for the price.

Cons: CON - Nothing bad to say about the bat. I think all comments by the justbats staff are accurate. The bat coach analysis of height and weight puts you onto the correct bat size.

AVOID THIS BAT AT ALL COST!!!! Tony Banks parent

Pros: Pop sound is louder than the ball travels!

Cons: The quality of this bat is POOR! My 10 y/o son, a small kid, 4'6 70 lbs destroyed 4 of these bats within a 4 month period. The first 5150 bat didn't last the first batting practice. The second one didn't survive the first tournament weekend. The third one lasted two tournaments. The last one we received was stamped "NO WARRANTY". I believe it showed up damaged because the first pitch gave us that "Cracked" sound. I trashed it and will not ever buy another Rawlings bat. They replaced each of the first three bats within a week or two.

Excellent BBCOR bat Joshua Allen parent

Pros: Great bat. Has great pop, even when not hitting exactly on the sweet spot. Read about complaints with the grip, but the grip is great. No vibration to speak of, unless you hit it off the very end of the barrel. Gets through the zone really fast and carries through. Thought my son would struggle moving from -10 to -3, but he says, and I see, his swing speed is about the same as it was. For the price this might be the best bat out there.

Great Bat Baseballplayer4 player

Pros: I used this bat during my high school season last year and really liked it. It had pretty good pop out of the package. I love the ping sound it has unlike most other bbcor bats. It's very well balanced and feels very light as well. The only bat i swung that I could really compare it to was the 5150 velo and the Easton S1. I would say out of all bats last year, the S1 had the most pop after it was broken in and the 5150 alloy was second.

Cons: The grip was very comfortable but in less than 3 weeks with the bat, the grip started peeling off and I needed a new grip.

Pros: one of most durable bats ever. i has 5 from three years ago and bought two new makos for this season. the makos were a total waste because my boys refuse to use them.

Cons: the reason the know gets dented and scratched is because of miss use.

Pros: I have no idea why anyone would plunk down $200-300 for a BBCOR bat when this bat is available for much less. I've hit with the high priced bats and this is as good, if not better.

Better than Easton JB User player

Pros: I am a switch hitter (natural righty). I always had a problem from the left because i could never get the bat around quick enough. Since getting the 5150, my swing on both sides has quickened and are almost similar. The overall feel is great! Ive tried the easton s1, mako, and xl1 and they dont come close to the quality and results of the 5150. rawlings has been improving every piece of their equipment and their bat will continue to be the best.

Cons: Underrated

5150 BBCOR Big Daddy parent

Pros: My son has used the 5150 since he was 10 years old. He has tried other brands but has always come back to the 5150. He is now 14 and this is the first year he has to use BBCOR. We are currently hitting indoors so distance is hard to predict but it seems to be just as special as all the others he has used. Don't think he will trust any other bat.

Cons: Scratches easy but doesnt bother him. The production is what counts!!

Turned me into a power hitter Jack player

Pros: I was in a hitting slump early on in the season last year. Trying every single bat that was available. Once I started using this bat I noticed the amount of pop it had even compared to the 400 dollar Cf5 was tremendous. The ball flies of the bat and the feeling is great. Hit my first HR and looking forward towards another great season with this bat.

Cons: Tape on the bat wasn't the best but I used hockey tape to cover over.

Pros: This bat is very durable and is not loaded at either end. It works very well right out of the wrapper and breaks in very quickly. It is better for line drive and contact hitters as opposed to power hitters because the pop isn't like a demarini or a mako.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBCA2? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Do you know yet how this compares to the old 5150? mike
The 2012 Rawlings 5150 Alloy and the 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy are very similar with a couple of changes that increase the performance of the 2013 model. The 2013 5150 Alloy features a lighter weight end plug and a new straight edge end cap design to eliminate some minor cracking issues. Between the straight edge design and lighter end cap, there is a 200 MOI (moment of intertia) advantage from the 2012 model to the 2013 model, which allows the batter to get through the hitting zone faster.
Brandon

Is the 2013 5150 the same spects as the 2012 5150 Velo? Is there any difference in balance and pop? I've noticed they changed the end cap to the one they used on the machine last year. Copp
The 2012 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR: BB51V will have a lighter swing weight than the 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA2. The differnence in pop comes down to the player. A hitter with higher swing speeds will probably see better pop with the 2013 Rawlings 5150. A hitter with average or below average swing speed will probably see better pop with the 2012 Rawlings 5150 VELO. The 2013 Rawlings 5150 also features the new endcap designed for improved durability.
Tyler
How is the weight balance of this bat? Is this bat recommended for power hitters or contact hitters? Is the bat like white white (like plane white) or is it more like a mix between gray and white? Also does this have good pop? dave
The 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA2 is a balanced bat in my opinion and is not geared towards a specific type of hitter. It's a great option for an all-around hitter. It's a pearl white and has above average pop.
Tyler
Will Rawlings be releasing a 2013 5150 Velo? Ytee
Yes, the 2013 Rawlings 5150 Velo is currently available for purchase. Here is a link to view that bat. http://www.justbats.com/product/2013-rawlings-velo-bbcor--bbvelo-adult/16338/

Does this bat have a lighter swing weight than the Marucci Team? DCDCDC
The 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA2 Adult bat and the Marucci Team BBCOR: MCBT Adult bat will have similar feels. Both of them are One-Piece all Alloy designs with very balanced swing weights. The -3 drop will prove to be very easy to swing through the hitting zone of both models. The 5150 will feature the Precision Optimized Performance (pOp) and the Comp-Lite End Cap. While the Marucci Team will feature Marucci's Bulletproof Anti-Vibration Technology.
Brandon
So is this bat more balanced and does it have more pop compared with the older model? dave
The 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR is very balanced like the 2012 model and it uses upgraded materials for added performance and durability.
Nick
Would you recommend the 2013 rawlings 5150 or the original 5150 velo for a contact hitter that can often out some power behind it? CavKyle
That depends on the player's strength and swing speed. If they have average to above average strength and swing speed, I would recommend the Rawlings 5150. If the player has below average strength and swings speed, I would recommend the Rawlings 5150 VELO.
Tyler
Is the Rawlings 5150 for a power hitter? If not what would be recommended? hitdoctor
The 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR bat is a one piece alloy which is best for a power hitter, so yes it would be a good bat for you. The Easton XL3 is an end loaded one-piece bat, which will be even better for power hitters than the 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR bat.
Noah

I'm a 5'11 140lb 15yr old contact and power hitter. Would you recommend the Rawlings 5150 Alloy bat or the Marucci Team bat? babe ruth
Both bats are extremely high performing one-piece fully aluminum bats. The weight distribution on the Rawlings 5150 and the Marucci Team will be the same. Here is a link to further compare these two bats. http://www.justbats.com/compare/
Tom
I'm a 6'1", 190 lbs. power hitter. I would like to speed my bat up through the zone. Will I feel a difference in the 32.5" and the 33"? Alec
Yes, you will be able to feel a difference in the swing weight of the 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA2 Adult bat. Even though we are talking about a 1/2 of an oz. it can be felt when swinging the 5150. If you are looking for more bat speed through the hitting zone this would be a great choice for your next bat. It is a One-Piece Alloy product that is Balanced in Swing Weight. It will feature a Comp-Lite End Cap. At your size I would say go ahead and swing the 33" 30oz. model and you will see improved bat speed and performance.
Brandon
How does the sweetspot and balance of this bat compare to that of the Rip It Prototype Air. Josh
Both the 2013 Rawlings 5150 and Rip-It Prototype Air have similar sweetspots. The Prototype Air will be a little more balanced.
Tyler
My son is 13yrs old at 6'-1", 170 Lbs. with a bat speed of 78 MPH with Velocity drop 10. He will be playing 13U and middle school ball this year. What bat should he swing for a drop 3 for middle school ball? Thanks. reds the name
The 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR would be an excellent choice for a thirteen year old player. It is a very balanced bat with great pop.
Kara
Is there a difference in the sweet spot and swing weight between this and the old 5150 BBCOR? Jim
Both the 2012 and 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR are comparable in swing weight and the sweet spot. The 2013 model has a new Composite-Lite end cap.
Aubrey
What does the new Composite-Lite end cap do for the bat? Timmy
The new Comp-Lite end cap works well with the Rawlings' proprietary Bi/fusion process to give the 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA2 more durability and more pop in one single, solitary unit.
Tyler
Is there any difference aside from paint between the 2012 and 2013 Rawlings 5150 and 5150 Velo? Craig
Both the 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA2 Adult and the Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult feature a new Composite-Lite end cap.
Aubrey
So what is the difference between the 2012 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR -3 bat, and the 2013 like model? Dave
The only difference between the 2012 and 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR bat is the 2013 has a Composite-lite end cap, which helps reduce vibration.
Noah
Which would be a better choice for a first BBCOR bat (Middle School) Rawlings 5150 or TPX Omaha BB136? My son is 5'3 and 100 lbs, and needs 30" 27oz bat. Travett
The 2013 Rawlings 5150, and the 2013 Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha Balanced are both terrific performing bats. The 2013 Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha Balanced will probably be the better choice though, because it is the most balanced. Going with a really balanced bat for his first BBCOR bat is better, because it won't feel he is making as much of a jump in weight.
Noah
I am a college player, we have the option to choose the 2013 5150 or the 2013 Velo...What is a better bat in you option, which bat has more "pop"... John
That depends on the hitter. A player with average or below average strength and swing speed will probably have more pop with the Velo due to it's lighter swing weight. A player with above average strength and swing speed will probably have more pop with the 5150.
Tyler
I am a thirteen year old middle school player. I am 5' 1" and about 120 lbs and was wondering if this bat or the Velo would be a better choice. I swing a pretty good bat speed and have above average BBS with drop 10 bats. But I'm worried that this bat might be too endloaded. I need to know if the COMP-lite endcap will take away the endloaded feel which I hate. JPS
The 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA2 is not an end-loaded bat. If you have above average swing speed, the 5150 would be a great choice.
Noah
What size do you recommend for a 5'8", 155 lb freshman? Anonymous
Based on the players height and weight, we recommend a 32" 29 oz. model in the 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA2 Adult bat.
Aubrey

Tyler
For a 15 y/o 5'10/140lbs contact hitter with occasional power, would this bat be a good option or would the Velo be a better option? Mr. October
The 5150 is best for a player with above average swing speed and power. The VELO is more balanced and better suited for a player with average or below average strength and swing speed.
Tyler
Are they coming out with a new bat for the spring or is this it? matt
Unfortunately, we do not have an ETA yet for Rawlings' 2014 line of bats.
Tyler
What are the main differences between this bat and last year's 5150 model? Also, is it as balanced as last years? I have last years and just love the balance so I'm just wondering if the only thing different is the technology which is better or if they altered the balance so it handles differently as well. Tim
The major differences between the new 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA2 Adult bat and the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA Adult bat are the new 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA2 Adult bat features a lightweight end cap and has a more balanced swing weight. Robert
I'm 5' 11" and 165lbs and I have a lot of bat speed. I was wondering if I should get a 32.5" or a 33"? big mike
Given your size, I recommend going with the 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA2 Adult in the 33" model.
Marcus
Which bat is better 2013 Rawlings 5150 bbcor or the 2013 rip it prototype air bbcor Nickname
Both the 2013 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR and the 2013 Rip It Prototype Air are high performing, balanced, alloy bats. One difference between the bats would be Rip It's "Love it, or return it" guarantee. You have 30 days to use the bat and decide if you want to keep it or return it to Rip It for a full refund.
Justin R.
I'm 5'4" and weigh 85 pounds. I'm 12 years old (I will be 13 when the season starts) and going into my first travel season and I will be playing on a 60/90 field. Would you recommend the 31.5" or 32" bat? IanBold_AC_Strike
Based on your size, a 31.5" model of the 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA2 is recommended over the 32" model.
Tyler
I've seen the 2013 Rawlings 5150 bat and some say, "Custom Alloy" on the barrel. Others say "2013 5150 Alloy," what's the difference? Walt
The 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA2 Adult bat features Rawlings 5150 Alloy. The other bat you are referring to is also made from the same 5150 Alloy material. They will act and perform the same.
Brandon
How does this bat compare to the Marucci Team BBCOR bat? HOTSHOT
The 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy will be very comparable to the 2013 Marucci Team bat in performance, durability, and balance.
Noah
How does this compare to the new Rawlings Plasma for this year? And, is this really any different than the model from last year? Henry
The 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR will have a higher performing composite than the 2013 Rawlings Plasma. The 2013 Rawlings 5150 will be slightly more balanced than last years model because it has a composite light end cap.
Damon
My son is 4'8" and about 75 lbs. Should he go with the 30" or slightly larger? Jim
For your son's size, I would actually recommend a 29" 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA2 Adult.
Kevin
I'm 6'1'' and 180 pounds. Should I get the 33" Rawlings 5150 BBCOR bat or the 33.5" Rawlings 5150 BBCOR bat? Owen
I would recommend going with the 33" 30 oz. 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA2 Adult bat.
Marcus
Does this bat swing lighter compared to last years' model? dalebomba
The 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA2 Adult features a composite end cap for a lighter swing weight.
Kara
Will this bat be more like the old Rawlings 5150 or the new Rawlings VELO BBCOR? I have it with the VELO and it's too stiff and pingy for my liking. Caleb

Kara

Brandon
Is the Rawlings 5150 good for power hitters? If so what size should I get? I'm 5'7 165 lbs in the 7th grade. Cole5

Kara
I'm a freshman, 6'1" and 140 lbs. with bat speed and power. What bat do you recommend? jose.altreche98
The 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA2 Adult would be a good choice, for your height and weight we recommend a 32" model.
Aubrey
Which is more balanced and which one has more pop? The Rawlings 5150, the Tawlings Velo, the Lousiville Slugger Attack, the Louisville Exogrid 3, or the Louisville Omaha? patrick
All the bats you have been looking at are very balanced models. The Louisville Slugger Attack has the best reviews and it's flex band technology makes for a really low swing weight. Some people say it really does not even feel like a drop 3 at all.
Chad M.
What is the difference between the 2012 and 2013 models? Patrick
The 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA2 Adult bat added the Composite-Lite end cap, giving the bat a better balance and air flow for a faster swing.
Kevin
Does the 2013 model have more pop than the 2012 model? Patrick

Mac
I've heard that the BBCOR standard will add some juice back into the bats for 2014. I've heard that they plan to add about 11 mph to the new bats. Is this fact or fiction? brady
We have yet to hear any adjustments to 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA2 Adult or BBCOR Certification as a whole. As of now I would assume they will stay the same.

Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 32" Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR (BBCA2). The 5150 has a balanced swing weight, which is great for a contact hitter. The one-piece fully alloy design will be beneficial since it will provide little flex and a stiffer overall feel, which power hitters tend to favor. This would be a great option.
Tessa L.

Why would you need a bat pack? Why 2 different bats? Whaleman
Bat packs are something special that our company offers. These are special deals for our customers that are put together by our product team. By having two bats it gives you more flexibility and choice at a lower price. If you are looking for a practice bat, and a game bat, these bats are offered as two for the price of one. It is also good to have a back up bat in case something happens to your game bat. These are generally why some customers decide to buy a bat pack, but that decision will also be different depending on the customer.
Merritt
I play high school baseball in the spring in Wisconsin so it is pretty cold when we play. Would the cold weather affect this bats durability? Mac
Generally, we do not recommend using/storing bats in temperatures below 55 degrees. It is also important to keep in mind balls being thrown in cold weather will be denser. This could potentially dent the bat and cause harm to the barrel. You can use bats in colder weather, just know that the risk for a defect will increase.
Merritt
Is it a big barrel? coco
The Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR (BBCA2) Adult is a big barrel and it features a 2 5/8" barrel diameter.

Patrick
How long should this bat last me? StormBBall
It is tough to say how long any bat, including the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR (BBCA2), will last. With proper bat care (including not using it in temperatures below 60 degrees, regulating the bat to single player use, and not using it with the yellow dimpled cage balls) the bat should last at least a season, if not longer. The Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR (BBCA2 Adult) and the 2014 version will perform very similarly. Both bats will feature the same 5150 Alloy material. The swing weights will feel the same also. No matter which version you pick up, you will get outstanding performance and durability.

For a player this size using a BBCOR certified bat, we typically suggest a length of 33 inches. You may also drop to a 32" if you felt as if a 33" 30oz. would be too heavy.

Based on your height and weight, we would recommend the 32 inch size of the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR (BBCA2) Adult. If the bat were available in the 31 inch length, that would be the more suggested fit but the 32 inch should work well also.
Patrick

For someone of your size we would recommend a 30" bat, although you could go up or down 1" depending on several other factors such as if you like to choke up or not, how far you stand from the plate in the batter's box, etc.
Kyle J.
Do u prefer the 5150 BBCOR or the Voodoo OVERLORD -3 BBCOR? Baseball
The Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR (BBCA2) and the 2014 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD BBCOR (DXVDC) are both nice options. They are hard to compare because they are so different. The OVERLORD is a two-piece hybrid design with a composite handle and an alloy barrel. The 5150 is a one-piece alloy design. The preference for one over the other would come down to which style you prefer. Both are great options.
Patrick
Is the Rawlings 5150 hot out the wrapper or does it require a break in period? jessie
The Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA2 does not require a break in period as it is an all alloy bat, which makes it hot right out of the wrapper.

The Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR (BBCA2 Adult) will be very similar to the 2014 model, the main difference will be the updated graphics. The VELO will have a special composite end cap that helps reduce swing speeds and increase performance.

Which bat is better, the 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy or the Louisville Slugger TPX Z-1000 Composite? Also, my son is 5'10", 155 lbs, and is growing quickly. What size bat will fit him into next year? Interested Mom
The Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: (BBCA2) would be an excellent model to take a closer look at, and will be higher performing. The one-piece alloy design makes this bat great for generating power, and will provide great pop. Based on the approximate players height and weight, I would probably recommend 33 inches. This size will allow him to use the bat next year as well.

I am a contact and power hitter who plays 14u. Should I get the 5150 or the Voodoo Paradox? Daniel
The Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR (BBCA2) has a balanced swing weight and is a terrific bat for contact hitters. The Voodoo has an end loaded swing weight, which is great for hitters with power.
Jason
Does this bat have about the same feel as the Velo? tater
Both the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR (BBCA2) and the 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR (BBV3) would be balanced one piece designs. The aerodynamics and the end cap design on the VELO give it a bit lower M.O.I and better balance which makes it feel like it has a lighter swing weight overall.
Patrick
What should I get? I'm looking at either a 5150 or the Louisville Slugger Raid? mtipton
Both the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR (BBCA2) and the 2014 Louisville Slugger Raid (BBRD14-RR) would be good options. The preference would be between whether you like a stiff flex like the one piece 5150 or a two-piece hybrid design like the Raid. Contact hitters tend to like the two-piece bats whereas power hitters like a one-piece.
Patrick
Does the Easton S3 BBCOR 30/33 work well for power hitters? Baseballer3

Tessa
Which bat has a better overall performance: the 5150 or the Velo? dmac
The Rawlings 5150 Alloy (BBCA2) and Velo will both be very high performing bats. For a contact hitter I would recommend the Velo as it is the more balanced of the two. If you are a power hitter the 5150 may offer better performance.
Bobby
I'm a contact hitter that relies on bat speed. Do you think I should get the 5150, the VELO, or the Easton S1? I'm 5'3" 100 lbs, and if you have any other suggestions please let me know. baseballer
As a contact hitter, I would probably suggest looking for a two-piece, balanced design. Therefore, I think the 2014 Easton S1 BBCOR Baseball Bat: (BB14S1) would be an excellent choice for you. This model is designed to help player's generate a faster bat speed. The 2014 DeMarini CF6 BBCOR Baseball Bat: (DXCFC) is also a great choice for contact hitters as well.
Merritt

Which one is better for overall and for me, (I am 5'10" and weigh 160lbs): (1) Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR Baseball Bat BBCA2 (2) DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR Baseball Bat DXVDC BaseballKid
Both the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR (BBCA2) and the DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXVDC) are great options. It would come down to preference of balance vs. end loaded swing weight. If you prefer a balanced design then I would recommend going with the Rawlings 5150. If you like more of an end loaded feel then the DeMarini Voodoo would be the better option. Both bats have a large sweet spot and perform great. The DeMarini Voodoo will have a slightly longer barrel compared to the Rawlings 5150 model.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
