Description

Increase your swing VELOcity with the Rawlings 5150 VELO! The 5150 VELO features an incredibly lightweight design and thinner walls to help young players develop their swing speed and hit the ball further. If a player is having trouble getting a bat around, it will negatively affect their mechanics and ultimately not allow them to hit for power. That's where the VELO comes in. The VELO is made from Rawlings 5150 Alloy that features unmatched durability that provides 10x more strength than traditional alloys. This allows Rawlings to make the barrel walls much thinner to produce a lighter swing weight. But that's not all. Thinner walls also allow for increased barrel flex that results in some of the best trampoline effects of any alloy bat in the game. The precision manufacturing techniques used by Rawlings give players the maximum allowable performance by a youth baseball bat. Maximum allowable performance, an increased swing speed, and thin walls will equate to one thing: MORE POWER AT THE PLATE! As with all of Rawlings' premium bats, the 5150 VELO was developed with the help of Sci-Fly Technology. Sci-Fly uses Doppler Radar to track ball flight characteristics and measure the launch angle, ball speed, distance, and spin rate from the point of contact. This information helps Rawlings create a bat with nothing less than optimal performance. Rawlings: Maximum Performance Where it Matters Most on the Field! The 5150 VELO features the USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp and is approved for play. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: 1st time purchasing a Rawlings bat. Bought this for my 12 yr old. He says the bat is very well balanced and has a stiff feel with lots of pop. If you have ever swung the Easton Rival orange and black bat it has more pop than that.

Cons: None

Pros: Good balance, lots of pop.

Cons: Dented 3rd time out under the 1st 5 in 5150 on a inside pitch. Rawlings warranty return is 3 weeks behind. As of today they do not have a status on the warranty. Very disappointed all around with Rawlings Bats. Replaced a 2011 5150 that we enjoyed very much but not legal any longer.

Pros:

Cons: I purchase this bat in January and this is my second time being replaced due to denting. The first time I sent it back it took 4 weeks to get a new one which I didn't understand because they were shipping out new ones all across the country. Now for the second one they are saying 2 weeks. Still Frustrating! I would not buy this bat!

Pros: Well balanced bat.

Cons: Replacement bat dented faster than the first one. It dented so bad we are afraid to use it for fear that it will collapse and fold in half. Rawlings Warranty replacement on first bat took 7 weeks. This bat is junk. replaced it with a Easton Surge (30/20)and have been hitting the ball 30 yards further. Will never purchase a Rawlings bat again.

Pros: 1st time buying a Rawlings. Looked good, son said it felt good, sounded solid when he connected, but.....

Cons: 1st time out at batting practice - 9U, slow pitch machines and coach pitch. Bat has 3 dents just below the 5. Also looks like the red paint / coating is coming off around the dents. Have contacted Rawlings warranty manager. Waiting on reply. Bought bat 2 DAYS ago!!! At this time, no way I could recommend buying this bat

Pros: Just got the New Rawlings 5150 Velo a couple weeks ago. Have not used it in a game but son 10U loves the pop. Can't wait for game action.

Cons: On the second batting practice with me pitching to my 10 y/o son at about 54-56 mph he noticed two significant dents at the end of the extended barrel. We will contact Rawlings today to send it back. What seemed like a wonder bat now has holes, or dents. Will update on the return process.

Pros: Great pop, durable and great customer service from Rawlings. My son used this all last year and put a few dents in it. Sent it back to Rawlings and they returned a new SLR234 which I gave to my younger son. It split on the barrel after 2 games. Sent it back and wasn't sure they'd do anything for me. I asked if they'd replace it with the SL51V and they did! Rawlings really takes care of its customers.

DO NOT BUY

Pros: There are flaws in this bat. We've gone through 4, yes 4, in just 2 months. Even the new 5150 didn't make it 2 weeks with a friend's kid. My son is 10 and has destroyed 3 of these in that time period and other boy on our team broke his.

Cons: Dents, end cap comes off or massive cracking (pictures to prove it). Great pop, but you'll be a regular at UPS returning this bat. Unfortunate as my son loves this bat, but it won't last but 1-2 weeks.

Is this bat usssa legal by the 2012 regulations. What are the new regulations? Where can i find a list of them wamp
This bat is USSSA approved for 2012. Efffective January 1, 2012 big barrel bats (2 5/8 and 2 3/4 inch) 14U and below must have the new USSSA stamp on the taper or be a BBCOR bat. Big Barrel bats must be BBCOR certified in 15U and above. For 2012 and 2013 Small Barrel bats must have the new USSSA mark on the taper or have the old USSSA mark. All divisions allow wood bats. About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
