Description

The Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult Bat! Ever since Rawlings released one of the first BBCOR bats on the market, they've been working hard to perfect the science behind creating the best BBCOR bat possible. The Rawlings VELO combines technology, balance, and low M.O.I. to help you generate ULTIMATE swing VELOcity! This begins with the VELO's Comp-Lite End Cap that is fused to the alloy barrel using Bi/fusion Technology. This composite end cap creates a lighter and more balanced feel at the end of the bat to increase swing speeds and lower M.O.I. It has been shown through testing that a 50-100 M.O.I. change can result in a noticeable increase in bat speed. The Rawlings VELO BBCOR is AT LEAST 200 M.O.I. BETTER than any competitor in a similar price range! Beyond just increasing swing speeds and having great pop, the Rawlings VELO is a well-built piece of equipment. It features a one-piece design crafted from Rawlings' 5150 Alloy that has unmatched durability and trampoline effect. As a result of precision manufacturing 5150 Alloy bats are consistently hotter than other leading alloy bats and perform at the maximum level allowable by today's standards. Precision-Optimized Performance (pOp) Technology is applied to the VELO to isolate extra weight into smaller regions on the barrel to further increase bat speed and eliminate the need for annoying rings found inside some BBCOR bats. Rawlings: The Mark of a Pro! The VELO is BBCOR Certified and approved for high school and collegiate play. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Cons: Worst grip I have ever felt. I would not have bought this bat if I had felt it before buying.

Pros: Sweet graphics

Cons: The barrel is very small compared to every other $299 bat I have seen/used. I am dissappointed. Also, as another reviewer mentioned, the grip is not good on this bat.

Pros: This is without question the best BBCOR bat I have ever hit with. I tried this bat in a batting cage, as well as all of the other top BBCOR bats. This bat blew away the competition. It has a loud ping noise when it hits. I just don't understand why the two people who have given a review basically said the only problem is that the grip is hard, and they gave it two stars? The grip is fine as long as you wear batting gloves. Everyone where's them anyway. Awesome bat and the barrel is no smaller than any other bat out there.

Cons: None.

Pros: Best BBCOR on the market (and I hve hit a number of them). This one is better than last years Velo model, which I loved. It is perfectly balanced and the ball flys off the bat. Some have complained about the grip, but I love it.

Cons: None that I have seen so far.

Pros: It is by far the best bat I have used. It has pop and shows to be 5-8 mph faster bat speed which helps at the varsity level. Great feel in the handle. I Like it better than the 5150 which was my last bat.

Cons: Only hang up is trying to find it. Stores are afraid to stock bats not knowing what is going to be hot or what is going to be disallowed. Hopefully, in the next couple weeks they will have them in because it is time to buy High School bats!

Pros: I couldn't find a bat better than this one. I hit every one of my teammates bats which include the CF5, VooDoo, Vexxum, Velo, 5150, Marrucci Team, XL1, S1, S2 and Rival. No one beat the Velo. The pop is uncomparable and the balance is perfect. The look is sick. And it hits solid.

Cons: Grip hurts bare hands, but I use gloves anyway.

Pros: Very good balanced bat. Sounds awesome indoors when hit on the sweet spot but more importantly it just flat out has good Pop like the 5150. My son loves this bat. Paul coach

Pros: My son is a 5-6, 110 lbs and needed a balanced BBCOR bat. This is his first year having to go to BBCOR. The BBCOR standard is tough on smaller kids, who struggle swinging the bigger bats with less pop. My son was swinging Combat Potent BBCOR and could not get it through the zone, and was only hitting weak grounders. The Combat was too end loaded, and had no pop. Purchased the Velo, and he loves it. Great pop, nice sound--he can actually get the ball into the gaps now. Good balance for the smaller kids, which makes a huge difference for my son. It has raised his confidence a ton.

Pros: This bat hits very well for a contact hitters who tend to have a slower bat speed. If you have really quick hands and tend to be a power hitter then this really isn't the bat for you. It does hit the ball hard, but only in warm weather. Very balanced which goes back to being a contact hitters bat, so there's not enough weight behind the swing to really power the ball out the park.

Cons: It sounds like broken glass when you hit the ball and has a weird grip. An average general feel. It gets scuffed and scratched a little bit when you hit the ball hard.

Tom
In your opinion which one better, 2012 Rawlings Machine BBCOR or This 2013 Velo Frank
Both are very good. However, the 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR will be a little stiffer, better for a power hitter. The Rawlings Machine is a two-piece bat, better suited for a contact hitter.
Kara
when will Rawlings release this bat in stores and when are they going to release a video for this bat? big bambino
I'm not sure when Rawlings will release the 2013 VELO to retail store, or when they will produce a video for it. I recommend giving Rawlings a call at 1-877-225-1041.
Tyler
Does it have as much balance and as long of a barrel as the Marucci Black? the tank
The 2013 Rawlings VELO will actually feel more balanced than the Marucci Black. The barrel length of both will be very similar though, as well as the performance.
Noah
How does this bat compare to the RIP-IT Prototype-B1303A? Both seem to be tops for balance. Varsity HS player, tough time deciding. jag
Both the 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult bat and the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult bat will be similar. They both will feature one-piece all alloy designs. Both are created to help the hitter gain the quickest and lightest swing weight possible. The RIP-IT comes with a 30 Day Love It or Return It program. Also, the RIP-IT will have a full 400 Day Warranty. The VELO will feature a lower MOI than any other competitor. The end cap on the VELO will be carbon fiber to add to the lightest swing weight in the industry. It will feature a 12 month warranty.
Brandon

Tyler
I'm having trouble choose from the 2013 Rawlings 5150 Velo, and the Nike Aero M1. Which should I pick? big15
Based off of customer reviews the Rawlings 5150 VELO is going to be the better bat for you. It will be more balanced than the Nike Aero M1, and is the preferred bat for many players.
Noah
I am currently swinging the new 2013 Voodoo, but I feel my bat speed has decreased. I'm not hitting gap to gap line drives anymore. Would this bat suit me better in the sense that it will increase my bat speed? Hernandfam
Rawlings states that the 2013 VELO BBCOR has the lowest M.O.I. on the market. Their testing shows that the lower the M.O.I., the faster the swing speed.
Mac
How many seasons or swings on the average, out the Velo? RB
The 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult bat is a one-piece all alloy model. Just as with any all alloy bat, this bat will not require any period of break-in. This bat will be the hottest it will ever be right out of the wrapper. I would not think you would see any problems or issues during season number one. The warranty on this bat is 12 months through Rawlings. I would say, trust the bat for as long as the warranty is offered.
Brandon
What is the difference between a Velo and the 5150? Which is better suited for a contact hitter? 2ndbase
The 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult bat will have a lighter more balanced swing weight than the Rawlings 5150. VELO is short for velocity. This bat will help improve that.
Brandon
Which bat is more similar to the Marucci CAT 5 BBCOR 32" 29 oz. with respect to balance and barrel size; the 2013 VELO or the 2013 Marucci Black 2? JD
For balance, the 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR will be more similar to the Marucci CAT 5. Marucci has also came out with the Elite which is their best balanced and performing bat. The Marucci Black 2 has a very slight end load, but it has a seamless two-piece hybrid design.
Mac
How does this bat relate to the 2012 Velo? Is it lighter? Does it sound the same? Is it just as good? Bulldog23
The difference between the 2013 and 2012 Rawlings VELO BBCOR baseball bat is that the 2013 model has a composite end cap and a more balanced, faster swing speed. Same sound.
Tyler
For a 5'10" 142 lb. contact/power hitter with above average swing speed, would you recommend this bat? The 2013 Rawlings 5150 or the 2013 TPX ExoGrid3? DreamBig23
At your current size and swing speed ability I would have to say 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult bat would not be your number one choice. Go with the 2013 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR. It will have a one-piece stiffer feel than the 2013 Exogrid 3. It should also add to your power as well.
Brandon
After reading about both the 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR BBVELO Adult and 2013 Marucci Elite BBCOR: MCBELI, I would like to know which bat would be the one to go with? Jordo
The 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult bat will be a very balanced easy to swing bat. It will be a one-piece all alloy model. The 2013 Marucci Elite BBCOR: MCBELI Adult bat is Marucci's top of the line. It will also be very balanced. The Elite will be a seamless two-piece hybrid design. Both bats will be great for a contact or power hitter. Also, the Elite will have a patented unequal Aramid-Reinforced Grip that silences the sting and will feel super comfortable to swing.
Brandon
Which bat is better the 2013 Rawlings VELO or the Easton XL1? Mink
Both the VELO and XL1 are going to be very high performing bats. Both of these bats fit different players. The Easton XL1 will be for power hitters and the Rawlings VELO will be for contact hitters.
Noah
If I have 91 mph batted ball speed which bat would be better for me, the 2013 Rawlings Velo or the 2013 Rawlings 5150? Nblake51
The 2013 Rawlings VELO is going to be the better bat out of the two. It is very balanced and should make your bat speed even faster than it already is.
Noah
What is a better bat for power hitters, the 2012 Rawlings Machine BBCOR or the 2013 VELO? JK
The 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult will be more preferred by power hitters thanks to the one-piece alloy design.
Kevin
What's the difference between the Rawlings Velo BBCOR: BBVELO adult and the 5150 VELO BBCOR BB51V? I've looked at them and read about them, and I can't find a difference between the two. Brad
Being that the 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult is a newer model, it has the lower M.O.I than any other competitor. Which stands for Moment of Inertia. Which the lower the M.O.I. the faster the swing which adds power. The only other thing is that the 2013 Rawlings VELO now has a Composite end cap.
Chad M.
I am buying a 7th grader his first BBCOR (-3) bat for middle school baseball. He is a small stature kid, weighs 80 lbs. But he is comfortable swinging 30 and 31 inch BBCOR bats. He likes the Rawlings 5150 and Rawlings VELO. Which one (5150 or VELO) would be better suited for a smaller kid who is predominantly a contact, line-drive hitter (not a home run hitter)? Billy
The 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO will offer a faster swing speed, helping your son to generate more power on the ball.
Kevin
How come when I listen and compare the ping sound on the Velo/5150 to the Marucci Elite, the Marucci has more of a ping sound than the 5150's? Isn't the Marucci Elite composite while the 5150s are alloy? I'm a contact hitter looking for that ping similar to the Marucci CAT 5. Which bat is closest would you think out of these? mike
The 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult and the 2013 Marucci Elite BBCOR: MCBELI have an alloy barrel. The 2013 Marucci Elite BBCOR: MCBELI has a composite handle and three to four inches of composite material at the end of the barrel. The Marucci CAT 5 had a very distinct sound and would be difficult to duplicate. The 2013 Marucci Elite will most likely have the closest sound to the Marucci CAT 5.
Kara
When do the Rawlings 2014 bats come out? Fred
The 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult bat is a great model. The 2014 Rawlings line will come out at some point this year. As of now, we are uncertain as to when.
Brandon
I am 5'8" weigh 140 lbs and I am a contact hitter. I have never had a lot of power but I hit the ball the other way. What bat do you recomend the Marucci Black 2 or new Rawlings 5150 Velo. Also, I have the red Rawlings Velo right now but I've used it for a 150 games plus practices on top and the pop isn't there anymore. j4d 1997
I would suggest the Marucci Black 2. It is evenly balanced, has a huge sweet spot and it's two-piece technology hybrid design adds a flex to your swing to help you get through the zone faster, added more power to your ablities.
Chad M.
What is the difference between the 2012 and 2013 models besides the added composite at the end? Patrick
Besides the added composite at the end the 2012 Rawlings 5150 Velo will have a stiffer handle for a consistent feel.
Chad M.
Will the composite end cap make this bat go dead in cold weather? I had a composite bat before and it was dead after using a couple of times in cold weather. Lou
No. However, we do not recommend using any composite bat in weather below 55 degrees because it makes the bat more susceptible to damage.
Damon
I am 6'1" 165lbs. I am more of a line drive hitter. What would be a better bat for me, the 2013 Rawlings Velo or the 2013 DeMarini CF5? mattphipps16
Both the 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult and the 2013 DeMarini CF5 will swing very similar. The DeMarini will have more pop, since it is a two-piece composite. With the height and weight given we suggest that you use a 33" 30 oz. bat.
Chad M.
I'm 5'5' 120lbs with above average bat speed. I'm a contact/line drive hitter. What size should I get? allstar
Given your size, I would suggest going with the 32" 29 oz. model of the 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult.
Marcus
What is a better bat for a power hitter, 2013 Rawlings 5150 or 2013 Rawlings Velo? (I'm also 6'1" 200 lbs.) Jr.
Most power hitters don't like a bat that is super well balanced like the Rawlings VELO. The VELO is better suited for hitters with average to below average strength and swing speed. The regular Rawlings 5150 would be a better choice for a true power hitter.
Tyler
I am 5' 1" and 100lbs. I am more of a contact hitter, so what bat would be better for me the Rawlings Velo or the Rip-It BBCOR Air? Kp knights 12
The 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult and the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult are both going to be very balanced one-piece alloy bats. It is really going to come down to personal preference on which one to get.
Noah
Hey. I'm a 5' 10" and 165 lbs. I'm a sophomore in high school that hits for average with the occasional long ball. Which bat out of the Rawlings or Louisville Slugger line of bats do you think would best suit me? Boone
It sounds to me like the 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult would be a good bat for you but I would go with the 2013 Louisville Slugger TPX Attack BBCOR. It would be perfect for you to elevate your game.
Chad M.
I currently have the XL1 BBCOR bat. I swing a 32" model. I am 5'11" 164 lbs. and still growing. I am a power hitter but I swing for contact the majority of the time. Would you recommend me going with this bat or the XL1 again? And also what size? chickenjoe
It's always recommend that a player stick with the same type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to have continued success at the plate. Thus, I would recommend sticking with the XL1 if you have had success with it. Based on your size, a 33" model is recommended.
Tyler
I am mostly a contact hitter that can muscle out a double every once in a while. I also have pretty decent bat speed. Should I go with the Velo or 5150? Patrick
If you have above average bat speed, the 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA2 would be recommended. If you have average or below average swing speed, the 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO would be recommended.
Tyler

Yes, the 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult bat features an alloy barrel and is hot right out of the wrapper. It is a very durable model but over time will lose the same performance as it originally had.

The 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult is a high quality bat and is very durable. It's usually a good idea to go up at least an inch and an ounce every time you get a new bat.
John H

The 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult bat will have a very light swing weight and feel more balanced than the 5150 Alloy. Both bats will have one-piece fully alloy designs.
Brandon
Hi I am a 6,1ft. 190lb. 15yr. old. I will be going into my sophmore year this year. I don't know what classification I am. Either a power hitter or a contact hitter. I am sort of slow and I never get triples and I only get doubles off of errors or if I hit it to the fence. I can hit the ball hard and to the fence and I will probably hit it over this year. But at the same time I hardly ever strike out and I hit the ball in the gap, I am very good at getting on base and I have a great average. I have narrowed it down to 2 options of what I should buy. Either the 2013 Rawlings Velo or the 2014 DeMarini Voodoo. Can you help me out? big_Josh/34
The 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult is a very balanced bat and would be better for a player who needs to increase their bat speed. The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo is end loaded and stiff, best suited for a power hitter.

I like the bat but the ping is so loud. It rings my ears half the time. Does that change after its broken in? bohan lee
The Rawlings Velo BBCOR is a alloy bat, so it does not have to be broken in. Therefore, I would not anticipate the ping changing much. It may slightly as the bat loses pop.

I am using the Rawlings VELO 32" 29 oz. I'm almost 5'4", Is this too big? christian
The 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult bat would be more recommended in a 31" at your height.
Brandon
What's the difference between this bat and the 2013 Rawlings 5150? Which one's lighter and has a bigger sweet spot? cihs
The 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult has composite material toward the end of its barrel that makes it more balanced than the 5150. Aside from that difference in swing weight, the bats are made of the same material and feature the same technology.
Mac
Whats the difference between this and the Rawlings 5150? hunter
Both models feature Rawlings' 5150 alloy. The VELO is one of the lightest swinging bats on the market and is designed to have a lighter swing weight than the 5150.
John H
Does this bat bat need to be broken in? If it does, how long? cihs
The 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult has an alloy hitting surface, so it does not require a break-in period and offers its best performance right out of the wrapper.
Mac
Is this bat better than the omaha balanced for contact hitters? john
Both the 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult and the 2013 Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha Balanced BBCOR: BB136 Adult are going to be balanced and excellent choices for contact hitters.
Jason
Is this bat discontinued now? Jack
Yes, the 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult is discontinued. Once Rawlings started producing the 2014 model, they discontinued the 2013 model.
John H
I am 5'10'', 210 pounds and I am considered a power hitter, but I can also hit for contact. I bought a 34 inch Marucci Cat 5 and haven't been getting the barrel around on inside pitches, but I have an above average bat speed. Is that length too long for me? Would this bat be a good choice? Nate
Based on your height and weight, we would recommend a 33'' bat. The 34'' may be too long and be the reason you are having trouble getting the barrel around on inside pitches. The 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult would be a good choice because it will have a low M.O.I to help increase swing speed, but it is still a one-piece bat which is good for power hitters.
Tori
What's the difference between the 2014 Velo and the 2013 Velo other than the color. baseballspecial
There will not be much different between the 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult and the 2014 version, other than the new color.
Brandon
Is this more balanced than the 5150? cerno
The 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult is more balanced the the 2013 Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR: BBCA2 Adult due to the Comp-Lite composite end cap that takes some weight out of the barrel.
Katie
Would you suggest this bat or the Easton mako? Ahurt14
The Mako bat would be the better perfomer, but would require that break-in period. Positive for the Velo is that it is game ready out of the wrapper, and the 2013 model is on sale from $299.99 down to $149.99. It depends on what kind of weather you will be playing in as well. The composite material the Mako is constructed out of really should not be played with in weather any colder than 55 degrees. The Velo can be used in the colder climates.
Derek
I'm 5'9" 150 lbs. I hit with power. Should I be swinging with a 32" or 33"? Thetux
The 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult bat would be recommended in a 32" length at your size.
Brandon
My son is a junior in high school , and has 93 MPH exit velocity. He is 5'11", would a 34" VELO be too long? Al
The 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult is one of our models with the lightest swing speeds, but I would still recommend going with a 33".
Justin R.
How could you compare the 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO to the 2013 Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID 3 BBCOR: BB13EX Adult? Which one would you recommend? SoCal baseball
Both are good bats. The 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO will be more balanced than the 2013 Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID 3 BBCOR: BB13EX. The carbon composite inserts on the Exogrid will help to cut down on vibration.
Damon
What is the difference between the VELO and the TRIO? When will the price of the TRIO be going down? Jj
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) is a one-piece aluminum design. The Rawlings TRIO BBCOR (BBTRIO) a three-piece hybrid design. The price of the TRIO will be reduced when Rawlings releases it from their adjusted price.
John H
How does the VELO compare to the Easton XL3? Camo
The 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult and the 2014 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB14X3 Adult are both one-piece bats. The Easton XL3 is end loaded and better for a power hitter.
Kara
I am 6'3" 210 lbs. I've used a 33" 5150 for a while. What length VELO should I get? Nick G
The 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult bat would be fine for you in the same 33" length or even in the larger 34" size.
Brandon
I'm 6'3 210, should i get the Velo or 5150? Rambo
The 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: (BBVELO) and 5150 would both be great options. The main difference is that the VELO is slightly more balanced with its composite end cap. The 5150 is also a very solid choice that is balanced, but the VELO is the higher quality model. It really comes down to your preference toward swing weight and your price range.
Mac
How does the 2013 VELO match up against the 2014 5150? Based on their descriptions they seem relatively the same. Cmack
The 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: (BBVELO) Adult features a Comp-Lite end cap that makes it more balanced than the 2013 5150 BBCOR. For the 2014 version of the 5150, Rawlings has given the 5150 a composite end cap of its own. However, the 2013 VELO will still offer a slightly lower MOI than the 5150 models. Aside from the end cap and balance differences, the 5150 and VELO are made from the same materials and offer the same design.
Mac
How does this bat compare to the Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID? Kitkat7
It depends on the particular model of EXOGRID that you're comparing it to, but the 2013 Rawlings VELO BBCOR: (BBVELO) Adult bat is more balanced than most versions of EXOGRID bats. The VELO and EXOGRID both offer stiff flexes, but the EXO would help reduce sting in the player's hands with the composite inserts in its handle. The EXOGRID 3 was by many accounts one of the more balanced versions of that Series and would be more similar in feel to the VELO.
Mac
How does this compare to the 2014 Rawlings Trio? me
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) Adult is a one-piece alloy design and the Rawlings Trio is a three-piece hybrid design with a composite handle, alloy barrel, and composite end cap. The VELO and the Trio have balanced swing weights, but the VELO has a stiffer feel because of the one-piece design.
Jason
Which bat will perform better? This bat or the 2013 Demarini Vexxum? bob
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult bat will be a one-piece fully alloy bat. It will be very light and balanced in swing weight. The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum will be a two-piece bat with a composite handle and alloy barrel. The VELO should swing lighter than the 2013 Vexxum.
Brandon
My son just received his 32" Rawlings VELO BBCOR. He is 5'11" and weighs about 150 pounds. He has average swing speed. The bat is so well balanced and swings so light, would a 33" length have been more appropriate? Coop
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) is a very balanced bat. A 32" bat is the recommended size for his height and weight. However, if he has good bat speed, he could move up to a 33' 30 oz.
Kara
Would you recommend Easton S4 over this VELO? My son is a power hitter and just want to make sure we make the right choice. Kenny
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) and the Easton S4 are both designed for a power hitter because of the one-piece design. The VELO is a great option.
Kara
I'm 5 foot 5 and 165 pounds. Should I be swinging a 32 inch or a 33 inch in the 2013 Rawlings Velo? the kid
Based on your height and weight we would recommend the 32 inch model of the Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO).
Patrick
Its my first year using bbcor and I'm a contact hitter, I'm not the biggest guy only 5'4, and I was wondering is this a good bat for me as a contact hitter. Also what other contact hitting bats do you recommend #15
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) would be an ideal bat for a contact hitter. It creates a balanced swing feel with an even weight distribution throughout the barrel. Another good option with an extremely balanced feel is be the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum NVS BBCOR (DXVXC). Both are engineered to maximize swing speed without forgoing performance capabilities.
Gary T.
I am 6'1",on the brink of being 6'2", and I weigh about 200 lbs. What size bat would be right for me? Johnny baseball
Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 34" model in the Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) Adult.
Jason
I am a junior and I weigh 135 lbs. and 5'7". What size should I use? 32" 29 oz.? Trevor
Based on your height and weight we recommend a 32" Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO).
Kara
I am looking for a low priced practice bat. What are the best priced balanced bats Hammer time
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) is one of the better balanced models at a less expensive price. I'd also check out the Louisville Slugger EXOGRID 3 BBCOR (BB13EX).
John H
How many hits can it take before its dead? drew
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR: BBVELO Adult features extremely high quality, durable materials that help maintain the bat for many swings. The exact number of hits is unknown, as this depends on the player using the bat, the environment your using the bat in, and how well you maintain the bat. The bat does come with a full 12 month manufacturer's warranty that will cover against any defects.
Justin R.
What size of bat would you recommend for someone who is 5'2" 110 lbs.? besaw
According to the information you gave me, I would recommend a 32" 29 oz. in the Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO Adult).
Zach
Is this a light swinging bat or top heavy? emilio
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) Adult bat will be a very balanced and light swinging bat.
Brandon
Is this bat allowed to be used in high school? jeremy
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) will have the BBCOR stamp that is required for high school play, so the VELO will be legal for high school.
Kelby
What is balanced the VELO BBCOR bat or EXOGRID3? joe
The The Rawlings VELO (BBCOR) and Louisville Slugger EXOGRID 3 (BBCOR) will both be very balanced bats.
Merritt
My son is playing his first year of Intermediate (50/70) ball and had to switch to a big barrel bat. We bought the DeMarini CF6 since he has had the CF5 and CF4 previously. Unfortunately, we are having a very cold spring and it has been in the 40s at several games. Last night we were told bat warmers are no longer allowed. I'm thinking I should get him an alloy bat for use in the cages and cold weather? Since I just spent a small fortune on the CF6 do you think something like the Rawlings VELO would suffice? It needs to be BBCOR. Also he is 5'2" and 110 lbs. He is using a 32" bat now. Is that too long? Jared's mom
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) is a high performing bat. It is a great alternative to a composite bat. We recommend a 30" bat based on his height and weight.
Kara
I am 5'5 165 pounds, what size do you recommend? I use a 32/29 but I feel like I can use a 33/30. Biscuit
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) Adult would be perfect for you in that 32/29. However, if you are comfortable with a 33" you can also swing that.
Aaron
I am 5'5" and 120 pounds. I am stronger than most kids my size and usually swing a 32/29. Is this a good size for me? J.steve
Based on your height and weight, we suggest a 31" model in the Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) Adult. However, if you think you can handle the extra length and weight, a 32" will work as well.
Jason
Is the Rawlings VELO balanced the same as the Rawlings TRIO? C5
Yes, the Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) features a very similar swing as the Rawlings TRIO. The main difference is the TRIO will feature a composite handle which allows for more flex and whipping action during the swing.
Justin R.
I have this VELO baseball bat. I am wondering if I should use it in weather that is 45 degrees and below? Lil Buck
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO), like most other bats, can see some durability issues in weather below 55 degrees. At this point, the core of the baseball can actually condense and become harder, making it a different product entirely. The way these hardened baseballs react with the bat can cause denting or breakage.
Patrick
Will you get any more 33" 30 oz. in stock? G
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) is a discontinued model. We will not be receiving more inventory. The 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR (BBV3) is a available in a 33" 30 oz.
Kara
I'm 6'3 and 240 lbs, is the 34-31 a good bat for a power hitter? or is it more of a contact bat d
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR: (BBVELO) will be an excellent choice for a power hitter. The one-piece design and 5150 alloy material will be an ideal structure and material for power players. This model is also very balanced making it easy to create a fast swing speed, and will allow for maximum performance. The VELO has been highly reviewed and is extremely high quality. This model will be able to provide a lot of great pop, and momentum.
Merritt
Would you say this bat is better than the Louisville Slugger Assault BBCOR bat? t-man
Both are great bats. The Rawlings Velo BBCOR (BBVELO) will be more balanced than the Louisville Slugger Assault BBCOR (BBAS14-RR).
Damon
Would you say this bat has the most pop on the market for the price? wow
It would be hard to argue with that. The Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) is priced extremely low right now, so you are getting an insanely hot bat, for a ridiculously low price.
Justin R.
I'm a smaller player and I prefer a light bat, but I have quick hands and hit for a lot of double to triple power. Would the Easton MAKO or Rawlings VELO be a better fit for me, or should I go with a heavier bat like a XL? schafez
For a player who likes a quick bat and has some power, the Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) is the best option. The one-piece, balanced design is ideal a player with power.
Kara
Does the Easton MAKO or the VELO have more pop? Duce
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) and the 2014 Easton MAKO BBCOR (BB14MK) are both very high performing bats. The one-piece design of the VELO is best for a power hitter. The two-piece design of the MAKO is better suited for a contact hitter.
Kara
Will a 34 inch 31 ounce size be a good size for a 5 foot 11 player? TCam9080
A 34 inch size of the Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) would be appropriate for a player of that size that weighs around 165 pounds or more.
Patrick
I really want this bat, I just think it is a little pricey for the 32 inch. When do you think the price will go down? T-rex
The sizing prices set for the Rawlings VELO BBCOR: (BBVELO) are solely based on supply and demand for each individual size. Unfortunately, the prices we have listed now are going to be the final sales prices. These models are also closeouts. Therefore, once we sell out of a specific size, we will not be getting any more back into our inventory.
Merritt
If I buy batting gloves on this page what kind of batting gloves am I getting? gmoney
The only batting gloves we feature on our site would be our own brand JustBats.com batting gloves. Our batting gloves feature an adjustable wrist strap so they can be adjusted to fit nice and snug on your hand for a comfortable fit. Our batting gloves are made from Cabretta Sheepskin leather for optimal flexibility and comfort. The mesh backing around the knuckles allows you to move and flex your fingers freely without adding stress to the leather. The mesh is also vented to allow moisture and heat to be directed away from the fingers, never compromising your grip on the bat. The palm of the batting glove is constructed of premium grade sheepskin leather. This leather gives a great grip while maintaining it's flexibility.
Patrick
My son is in 8th grade and is using the 31" 25 oz. Omaha which he likes. Next year he needs the drop 3 and this looks like a great bat but I am concerned about the correct size and weight. Will moving up to a 32" 29 oz. be too heavy or great investment as he could choke up, or buy the 31"? He is currently 5'6" and 120 lbs., not extremely strong. Tony
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 31" Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO). This is a better size for a player with slower bat speed. The VELO is a very balanced bat and feels similar to the Omaha.
Kara
I currently use a 31" Marucci Black 2. Will getting a 32" velo give me more power or should I stay with a 31"? I am 5'8" 175 lbs. reabba12
Using our Bat Coach, I would suggest a 32" bat for a player your size. Going to a 32" in the Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) would give you slightly more power due to the increased weight of the bat compared to your current Marucci Black 2.
Kelby
If you are were a contact hitter that liked a light swinging bat, needed more power, and likes a balanced design, what bat would you recommend? I am looking at the 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack, 2014 Easton S1, or this bat? Skittles
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO), 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack BBCOR (BBAT14-RR) and the 2014 Easton S1 BBCOR (BB14S1) are all nice options and would all be very balanced. If you were needing to increase bat speed they would all help accomplish that. The Velo would have the least flex but would also have one of the lightest feeling swings. The S1 and Attack would both flex more but be slightly less balanced than the Velo. The preference would come down to whether you want more flex or not.
Patrick
Are the Velo bats supposed to have little bbs or something inside them? It sounds like a rattle. Caleb
The Rawlings VELO (BBVELO), like any other bat, can develop a rattle. It can be cause by dirt or pieces of adhesive coming lose. Luckily, it normally does not affect performance or durability.
Bobby
Will you be restocking the 31" 28 oz. VELO BBCOR? beckman
THe Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) is available in a 32" 29 oz. However, it is discontinued and we will not be receiving more inventory of that model.
Kara
How many 31/28 VELO's do you have in stock? rick
Unfortunately, we can not give out the exact amount of products in our inventory. However, I can tell you that we are very well stocked in the Rawlings VELO BBCOR: (BBVELO) 31/28 as of right now.
Merritt
Is the Rawlings Velo end heavy? DUB-A baller2
The Rawlings Velo BBCOR (BBVELO) is not end loaded and will feature a one-piece, balanced and fluid alloy design.
Gary T.
Are there any differences between this version of the Velo and the 2014 Velo? REABBA12
The overall design between the Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) and the 2014 Rawlings 5150 VELO BBCOR (BBV3) will be similar but there are some adjustments. The grip is different between the two models and obviously the color scheme. Other than that, they are both still made with the same high quality 5150 alloy and have the same lightweight balance design.
Patrick
What is the difference between this and the Rawlings 2013 BBCOR Plasma? kool aid
The difference between the Rawlings Velo (BBVELO) Rawlings and the Plasma(BBCPL3) will be the different type of alloys. Rawlings Velo (BBVELO) uses 5150 alloy, where as the Rawlings Plasma (BBCPL3) uses Aerospace Plasma Alloy. Another difference is the Rawlings Velo has a Comp-Lite composite end cap.
Zach
I am 5'6", 145 pounds. I am thinking about getting the 32"/29 oz. is that a good size? austin
Yes, I would recommend a 32"/29 oz. Rawlings VELO (BBVELO) based on your height and weight.
Bobby
I have the 32/29 bbcor velo. I got it about 3 weeks ago and its making a noise like little bbs or metal balls amd moving up and down inside the bat. What is this noise? riley jernigan
When the end cap is placed in the bat, sometimes some extra adhesive can run down the inside of the barrel. When the barrel flexes on contact, some of this adhesive can flake off into the bat. This will not affect performance, and is possibly not something that would qualify for replacement. But Rawlings would be able to advise you on all of your options under the manufacturer's warranty. You can reach them at: (800) 729-5464.
Mac
I'm swinging the 2013 Attack model. Which bat would you recommend for me considering what I swing? I like a bat with a little bit of weight in the end but not too much. Just a little bit top heavy but not too balanced. moldham8
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) will be very balanced. If you like a slightly barrel heavy feel, you could try these models: 2014 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD BBCOR: DXVDC & 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR (BB14X1). They will have extended barrels which will give them the feel you'll prefer.
Brandon
I am a contact hitter who hits a lot of singles and doubles what would be a good bat for me? Baseball
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) is a great design for contact hitters. It is lightweight and balanced and has a stiff flex which can help you push or pull the ball with better control if you are trying to hit gaps.
Patrick
What do you prefer; the VELO or the MAKO? niner
Both the Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) and the 2014 Easton MAKO BBCOR (BB14MK) are great options and high performing bats. The preference between the two would be based on what design you like more as they are extremely different. The MAKO is a two-piece composite design while the VELO is a one-piece alloy. The VELO would have a stiffer flex and would be hot out of the wrapper and the MAKO would flex more and would require a brief break-in period but would get hotter over time.
Patrick
Does this bat have the BBCOR sticker that is required for high school bats? LB
Yes, the Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO) is BBCOR certified and features the BBCOR stamp: http://goo.gl/V23vL7.
Mac
I am 5' 6" and weigh 130 lbs. What size bat should I get? Crow
Based on your height and weight, we would suggest a 31" Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBVELO).
Patrick
Could you name some balanced BBCOR bats with a lot of pop? y
Some of the most balanced BBCOR bats with great pop other than the Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBVELO) could be: 2014 Easton MAKO, 2014 Easton S1, 2014 DeMarini CF6, 2014 DeMarini Vexxum NVS, 2015 RIP-IT AIR Elite, 2015 Marucci CAT 6, 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915, or the 2014 Rawlings TRIO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBTRIO).
Brandon
Would you suggest the 2015 VELO or the 2015 TRIO for a power hitter? Cel
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBVELO) one-piece design is going to be more for power hitters than the 2015 Rawlings Trio Baseball Bat BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRTTB) 3-piece design, which contact hitter typically prefer.
Liz
Between this and the 2013 Mako, which will have more pop a the peak of their performance? Youngsavage
All BBCOR bats like the Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBVELO) and the 2015 Easton MAKO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB15MK) will have the same peak performance because of how they are regulated for safety reasons. The difference, and what you end up paying for with the bats, is the feel and durability of the bat. Durability determines how long the bat will last at its peak level.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
