The 2014 RIP-IT Senior AIR Big Barrel (B1410B) is a one-piece alloy bat. It is stiffer and designed for a power hitter. The 2014 Easton MAKO (SL14MKB) is a two-piece composite bat and designed for a contact hitter. Both bats are balanced and are very similar in performance. The MAKO will have a slightly longer barrel.

I am looking at ordering a 29 inch 19 ounce bat for a 10U player. I am unsure of whether to order the 2 5/8 inch barrel diameter or the 2 3/4 inch. The player is a smaller kid. He is more of a line drive contact hitter. MC
The choice of whether to purchase the 2 5/8 inch barrel or the 2 3/4 inch would be based on what is allowed in the league the player is in. The 2 5/8 inch barrel is more accepted in more leagues while the 2 3/4 inch is more used in travel ball type play or certain leagues that allow for it. Moving forward to higher age levels, the 2 5/8 inch barrel will be more commonly used. The 2 3/4 inch barrel simply offers a larger surface area for the player to be able to square up a pitch.

The 2014 RIP-IT Senior AIR Big Barrel: B1410B Senior League would be great bat. It is for kid pitch but if he has been cracking Coach Pitch bats its probably not a bad idea. Plus he could use it in coach pitch next year.

Based on the height and weight, I would recommend a 30" model in the 2014 RIP-IT Senior AIR Big Barrel (B1410B). The barrel size is dependent on the league you are playing in. Some leagues require only a 2 1/4" barrel, but others allow up to a 2 3/4". In high school, players are required to use a 2 5/8" barrel.
