We would recommend reading the customer reviews regarding the 2016 COMBAT VIGOR -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: VIGSL105. We are unaware of any durability issues and as for pop that will be more subjective as each customer will have their own opinion on what constitutes "pop."

Durability has not been a problem we have had with the 2016 COMBAT VIGOR -5 Senior League Baseball Bat (VIGSL105). The Vigor has had very good reviews and people have liked it a lot so far.

Unfortunately, the 2016 COMBAT VIGOR -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: VIGSL105 is not legal for play in Babe Ruth. The 2 5/8" barrel diameter, composite design, and lack of BBCOR certification make it illegal for play in Babe Ruth.

More than likely the 2016 COMBAT VIGOR -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: VIGSL105 would be approved for travel ball play unless there is a rule against a composite barrel bat. Since travel ball leagues and organizations do not have to follow a unified set of guidelines we would recommend reaching out to local coaches and league officials to learn what, if any, bat rules may exist.

Depending on how much he weighs will determine what size bat we would recommend for him. Each kid is going to be able to use different sizes but the 2016 COMBAT VIGOR -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: VIGSL105 would be a good option since he will have to go up to a -3 once he reaches high school ball.
