Pros: Durable Good Balance Ball will travel

Cons: Bat Sting In live pitching my son started with the Easton Beast X Hybrid and finished with the S650. All he could say was the S650 hurt his hands. He might use it in a game, but will stick with the Beast X Hybrid for BP.

Pros: Solid configuration that gives a good swinger plenty of opportunity for long ball drives. Much trepidation with the new USA reg, but this bat erases all of that. BUY IT

Cons: My son refuses to use a batting glove and is a powerful but lumbering hitter, You would NEVER know it with this bat. Experiencing no vibration whatsoever.

Pros: It is a very balanced bat, I found myself getting more hits with this bat than any other easton I used.

Cons: After alot if hits off the end cap it started to come off a little but an easy fix with a rubber malet

Pros: Enjoyed this bat while it lasted. Decent pop. A little too much vibration if not hit squarely.

Cons: My 9 year old son used this bat for about ten weeks for our rec. league. During our first tournament, he hit a screaming liner to left field and the END CAP CAME FLYING OFF and went past the mound! There was no "hit it off the end of the bat". After reading many reviews, this happens way too often for it not to be a manufacturing flaw. Over 30 instances on one review site with bats still under 1 year warranty. Easton offered to replace the bat with the same model, but I'm dissapointed they wouldn't give a voucher of equal value so we could upgrade. Going back to Demarini. 10 years with my older son and never an issue that didn't make us happy. I'm sending the bat back to Easton but they can keep the replacement.

Does the USA certification equate to a BPF 1.15? My son's league requires a bat to be stamped with BPF 1.15 to be legal and I do not see it on this bat. Thanks! Brian

The 2018 Easton S650 -5 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18S6505 does not feature the BPF 1.15 marking since it is a USA approved bat for Little League and various other leagues that require that certification. Most leagues will allow USA bats since they are lower performing than USSSA BPF 1.15 bats, but your player would be at a disadvantage using a USA bat where the other bat is allowed.

Based on your player's height and weight, I would make a general recommendation of getting this 2018 Easton S650 -5 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18S6505) in the 31"/26 oz size as long as he can handle that weight. If your player is being required to swing a USA bat, I think this would be a solid -5 bat for consideration.

The 2018 Easton S650 -5 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18S6505 has a USA Baseball Stamp. However, you can swing a USA Baseball Bat in a USSSA sanction league. Just keep in mind that you might be at a slight disadvantage using a lower performing USA bat.

With the 2018 Easton S650 -5 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18S6505 being a one piece alloy bat, the player will feel vibration, even sting, when the ball is hit off the end or down toward the handle of the bat. However, if you hit the ball squarely, little vibration will be felt.

At his height and weight, I would probably recommend a -8 or a -10 drop bat instead of a -5, as it might be a bit heavy. An example of a -8 would be the 2018 Easton S550 -8 USA (YBB18S5508), and a -10 would be the 2018 Rawlings 5150 -10 USA (US8510).

My son is 5' 10" and 142 lbs and just turned 13. Based on the charts that puts him at a 33" bat. His Babe Ruth league requires a USA or BCOR approved bat. Last season he was using a drop 10 bat. Will this be too big of a jump? Will it be too heavy? Or should I go with a 32" USA bat like the S650 with a -5 or -8 drop? Or does the S650 come in 33"? Rob

I would recommend you get a transition bat. I think the 2018 Easton S650 -5 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18S6505 would be an excellent option in 32 inches. This will better prepare him for a BBCOR bat when he reaches the high school level.
