Description

New baseball bats for the season! For the second year running, Louisville Slugger has created a one-piece, all alloy, hybrid bat: the Solo. This season's model, the Solo 618, may be known as a single-piece construction, but due to the new and improved Speed Ballistic Composite End Cap, Louisville Slugger has deemed it a hybrid design. The enhanced end cap, combined with Slugger's SL Hyper aluminum material, delivers increased swing speed, better overall control through the zone, and the most balanced swing weight score (1.1) in the Lineup. As the fastest swinging baseball bat Louisville Slugger has ever manufactured, this model is an excellent choice for players looking to ensure fastballs no longer phase them. Not only does the SL Hyper Alloy provide an increase in swing speed, but it ensures a stiff, traditional feel on contact with maximum energy transfer for further ball flight and more base hits. Not to mention, Louisville Slugger has applied a brand new vibration dampening handle design that helps reduce sting in the hands on mishits so that negative vibration is a thing of the past. The best part? A custom Lizard Skins baseball bat grip comes pre-wrapped around the standard handle for premium comfort and a better overall feel. Louisville Slugger: Hit For Power, Average, & Pride!

This Louisville Slugger Solo 618 Senior League Baseball Bat (WTLSLS618X10) features a huge 2 3/4-inch barrel diameter, a drop 10 length to weight ratio, and the USSSA 1.15 BPF certification. great bat for alloy! Hands down! dad parent

Pros: well balanced with no sting technology. Hypo alloy with composite cap makes the price more, but well worth it! The pop on this bat is similar to the CF Zen, but the weight is spot on. The pop on this bat is encredible. if you want a bat that is similar to the Zen with the wieght less and more balanced than look no further. The pop on this badboy is encredibile. Hypo Alloy with no sting on foul tips. This bat rocks.

Cons: none so far

A Lot of Pop! Matt parent

Pros: My son is 9 years old and we bought him a 29/19. I can not compare to the CF Zen, but we have owned both the 2017 -9 Voodoo 2 5/8 and -10 Voodoo 2 3/4, and this bat has more pop than both. Very well balanced and Very powerful. Swing weight is much lighter than both of the Voodoo's. This bat is very consistent and we are very pleased with it. If you are looking for a one piece alloy bat, this is a must try. Ball fly's off bat. Even when not hit in the sweet spot, it produces a pretty good hit. A lot of feedback in the bat. No vibration issues. Awesome grip.

Cons: Sweet spot is probably about half the size of the Voodoo, however very powerful when hit in the sweet spot.

Awesome bat!! Dad parent

Pros: Son really loves this bat so far. He loves the look and feel and so do I. The pop that this bat makes sounds like it's composite, most be the hyper alloy. It's very balanced and he has hit some foul tips and no stinging! We both like that:) Even though it's not USA approved for 2018 it does not matter to us because we play USSSA and AYL and others that only require the 1.15 BPF.

Sweet Solo Coach T coach

Pros: My 11u travel ball son is loving this bat. The sound is amazing and the pop is like no other bat he has tried this year. Several of his teammates have ditched their bats and are using his. The best part is it is extremely balanced and true to its weight.

Cons: It has a little more vibration/sting on off center hits due to the fact that it's aluminum and one piece.

best bat made this year Tyler coach

Pros: ball flies off the bat! Both my son's have one, they also have the Zen and the Prime 918, and this definitely out performs both. On my 10 year old's team, there have been 7 kids switch from Zen's to the Solo. i have bought a few in bigger sizes, just so we can have this bat in the future.

Cons: vibrates the hands when you hit the ball wrong, but thats all one piece bats.

Pros: My 11u son says the bat has a great feel when he hits with it. He loves the weight (says it's balanced well) and is able to turn on inside pitches without any problems. I was concerned about moving up to the bigger barrel but it doesn't seem to have any negative impact on his hitting.

Cons: I have found nothing to complain about with this bat so far.

Pros: Bat is well balenced swings light has a ton of pop. My son thinks has more pop then CF8. The bat is true to weight and is great price point vs. previous "hot bats" in last couple season releases we also have the marruci hex2 and like it as well. Better get the while you can cause they are geeting hard to find and not alot of main stream hype about this bat

Pros: well balanced, great pop

Cons: The bat dented in the sweet spot on the first day we hit with it. My son has a good swing but he is only a 4' 7", 82 lb 11yr old! I think the alloy is thinner, hence the lighter, more balanced feel. durability os an issue.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTLSLS618X10? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

What makes a 1 piece alloy worth $300? Coach
The composite end cap on the 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTLSLS618X10 will make this bat have a lighter swing weight than a typical one-piece alloy bat and this will cause the bat to have a higher retail price.
Cameron
If you could compare the swing weight/speed of the LS 618 Solo 28/18 vs the Easton MAKO BEAST SL17MK10B 28/18. Both say have a fast or fastest swing. The Easton says it has the fastest. I know the Easton is a 2 piece composite. Looking for my 9 year old travel player moving up from a CAT 6. Trying to decide between the two for him. Coach/Dad
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTLSLS618X10 will weigh about 0.1 ounces more than the Easton MAKO BEAST. With this small of a difference I would not say that one bat will allow for greater swing weight speeds over the other.
Cameron
How does this bat compare to the one-piece composite COMBAT in regard to balance, true weight, and "POP"? travel dad
This 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (WTLSLS618X10) will be just as balanced (or possibly even more balanced) as the one-piece, all-composite COMBAT bats. This Solo 618 will probably weigh anywhere from 0.5 oz to 1.5 oz over the listed weight. The COMBATs are typically more true to their listed weights and a COMBAT will probably only weigh 0.1 oz to 0.5 oz over the listed weight. Lastly, I think the potential for performance between the 2 bats will be very similar overall.
Ben
Do you think that this bat is a good option for a smaller 10U player of 60 lb moving up from a drop 12 bat? small fry
This 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (WTLSLS618X10) is a great adjustment. As the players get older it is wise to adjust to a heavier bat to allow the player to get used to swinging a longer and heavier bat.
Mick
Which bat do you prefer and why between this 2018 Solo -10 or the 2018 Element Alloy (-10) 2 3/4? gb5
It really depends on what type of hitter you are to determine which option is best for you. The 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTLSLS618X10 features a very balanced swing weight and is typically a good option for a contact hitter as a result. The 2018 Axe Element features an end loaded swing weight and is typically a better fit for a power hitter.
Jason
Will this bat be approved for USA baseball for 2018? dad
This 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (WTLSLS618X10) is USSSA 1.15 certified. It currently is not available with the USA Bat certification. However, the 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -11 USA Baseball Bat (WTLUBS618B11) will have the USA Baseball Stamp and be permitted for leagues requiring that new stamp.
Ben
Will this bat have a lighter swing weight than the Best X -10? chris
Both the 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTLSLS618X10 and the 2018 Easton Beast X -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18BX10 will have very similar swing weights. Both feature a balanced feel.
Dan
What is the difference between the 2018 -10 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 USSSA approved and the 2018 -11 USA approved? Coach B
The difference is the bat certification. Effective January 1st, 2018, USA governed leagues (AABC, AAU, Babe Ruth, Cal Ripken, Dixie, Little League, and PONY) can no longer use the 1.15 BPF rated bats. Their bats going forward will perform a little more like wood than the aluminum bats of the past. The USSSA bats have not had any changes made to their qualifications.
Tyler
What is the difference between this 2018 Solo 618 (-10) and the Omaha 518 (-10)? H
This 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (WTLSLS618X10) and the Omaha 518 (WTLSLO518X10) will be pretty similar bats as both feature aluminum designs. However, this Solo differs from the Omaha as it features a slightly different alloy material and also features a composite end-cap that allows the bat to have a slightly more balanced swing feel.
Ben
How does the balance and pop compare to the green Marucci hex alloy? bilybadd
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (WTLSLS618X10) has a more advanced end cap allowing it to be a little bit better balanced. When it comes to pop, they are both a one piece allow. Due to that, they will have the same amount of pop.
Mick
My son is about to turn 11 and is 4 ft. 7 in., weighs 85 lbs. We're deciding between this bat and the 2017 Combat Vigor 31/21. I am not sure if the 21 oz. would be too heavy. Gage
At your player's age, I don't think the 21 ounce weight would be too heavy. However, if it is a concern, most player's feel like the 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTLSLS618X10 has a more balanced feel and lighter swing than the Combat Vigor.
Logan
What size is the barrel of the bat? What size is the barrel of the bat

Kyle J.
What is the size of the barrel? marcus
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTLSLS618X10 features a 2 3/4 inch barrel diameter.
Dan
My 11 year old is 4'10" and 70 lbs. He is swinging a Mako Hyperlite (28"/16 oz) and he's ready to move to a -10 alloy bat. I'm nervous about adding too much weight too quickly, but I'd like to get him to a 29" with this next bat. How does the swing weight and sweet spot of the Solo 618 compare to the Marucci (MSBC7X10)? Is it advisable to move him up three ounces (29"/19 oz)? Jim
Both bats are very well balanced and should have good sized sweet spots. As for the weight jump, it might be noticeable early on and could take a little getting used to, but once he adjusts to it the added weight will only help with power. We always advise swinging the heaviest bat that you can while still maintaining good bat speed.
Kyle J.
What is the temperature rating for the bat? Is there a low temperature where you would not recommend using the bat? It is only going to be in the 40"s this weekend for our first games. J.P.
Here at JustBats we do not recommend using any bat in temperatures below 55 degrees. This is no different for the 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTLSLS618X10. The reason for this is because in colder weather, the ball will become more dense and can cause noticeable damage to your bat.
Tyler
Can we use this in a USSSA tournament? Sebastian P
Yes, this bat has the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp.
Kyle J.
When do you expect the 30"/20 oz size to be back in stock? Dave I
At this time, we do not have a specific date for the 30"/20oz option of the 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTLSLS618X10 to be back in stock. You can sign up to be alerted when we get more in, all you need to do is add your email address to the link listed on the product page where the sizes are listed.
Daveron
Is this bat recommended for a 12u travel league player? Austin
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTLSLS618X10 would be an excellent option for any 12u travel league player. It is USSSA approved, hot out of the wrapper, and the anti-vibration handle helps reduces a majority of sting created on contact.
Tyler
This bat was available yesterday. Did you guys sell out? Dre2002
It would depend on the size that you are looking for, but unfortunately our inventory is fluid and has the potential to sell out at any time. We are hopeful to receive more inventory of the 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTLSLS618X10 in the future though.
Tyler
Does this bat need to be broken in? jaw
Since the 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTLSLS618X10 is a one-piece alloy bat it does not need to be broken in.
Cameron
This bat has a composite end cap. What is the difference between this one and a composite bat? neil
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTLSLS618X10 will have speed ballistic composite end cap, which increases the barrel length and improves the balance of the bat. The biggest difference between a composite or alloy bat is an alloy bat, such as the 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTLSLS618X10 will have more of a ping sound at contact and a stiff, traditional feel at the point of contact.
Max
Will you ever restock this bat in 29-19? Aaron
No, unfortunately we are not expecting to be receiving anymore of this model. Louisville Slugger has discontinued their 2018 line. Louisville Slugger will be releasing their 2019 Solo model in early October.
John
I purchased this bat for my son and didn’t leave a review in time, because he hadn’t used it yet. We now have been using it for a few weeks and the kids on the team love it. Light swing as described & POP. Question is, can I still leave a review and do you have a review of the 2019 model? Billy D
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTLSLS618X10 is still listed on the website and thus reviews can still be submitted. As for the 2019 model, this bat has not yet hit the market.
Cameron
We bought this bat with in a length & weight of 30" 20 oz. last year, and we would like to get a new one for the fall season, but it didn't seem you have this option available now. Can you let us know when it will be available? Sherry
Unfortunately, since the 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTLSLS618X10 is last year's model, we will not be re-stocking this item. The 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLS619X10 should be available in early October.
Logan
Will you get more Solo or 518's in stock? My son is 7 and playing 8U travel ball and needs a good Senior League bat. He hit great off the 518 last week. Will the Solo be much upgrade? Cliff
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTLSLS618X10 will be better balanced the the Omaha 518. This will make the bat easier to swing and control. Unfortunately though since both of these bats are closeout models from LS we can no longer restock when sizes/bats are sold out. At this point all of the 2019 models are hitting the market so that is what we can now stock up on.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
