Description

The time has come! Marucci finally gave in and expanded their CAT lineup by creating a CAT 7 intended for younger USSSA players who need a drop 10 senior league baseball bat. This youth big barrel bat is guaranteed the be the most balanced bat in your bag. With a one-piece, 100% AZ4X alloy construction, this design delivers a traditional, stiff feel on contact with superior strength and a higher response rate than ever before. Through extensive research and player feedback, Marucci's bat engineers have determined that the most common complaint from amateur players is negative vibration to the bottom hand. On one end of this exclusive design, the innovative second-generation anti-vibration knob, also known as the AV2, provides an incredible feel at the plate with a decreased sting to the hands that is typically associated with alloy bats. As if that wasn't enough, Marucci has utilized their ring-free barrel technology on the other end to enhance the overall feel, optimize performance over the entire hitting surface, and guarantee zero dead spots for maximum performance. Marucci: Made To Rage!

This Marucci CAT 7 Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBC7X10) features a drop 10 length to weight ratio, a 2 3/4-inch barrel diameter, and the USSSA 1.15 BPF certified stamp. Due to the high-end construction, this model is one of the most forgiving, sweetest feeling, and hardest hitting baseball bats available for USSSA players. Increase your swing speed and your batting average by picking up one of these Marucci CAT 7 bats today with free shipping and a full one (1) year manufacturer's warranty. Great Bat!!! Coach D coach

Pros: Switched my son from a Mako to this Marucci for 11U travel and what a difference! His confidence has already increased significantly. The sweet spot seems larger than the mako and has a lot more pop with less vibration. Every time he's finished in the cages, the other players are trying to get their hands on it. It's worth the money!

Cons: None yet...curious how the 3/4 will hold up after a few games but so far, no CONS at all. Great product...very happy.

My Kid LOVES this bat! Mark W parent

Pros: Great feel. Big sweet spot. Lots of pop. Looks cool and makes a great sound. My 11 yo went from Rec/All-Stars to travel and wanted a big barrel. This has a great weight on the swing and the transition to a heavier bat was seamless. Hit his first ever homerun (dead center) in his 3rd time up. It has become very popular with his teammates too.

Reality Check LF parent

Pros: AV2 knob

Cons: Barrel is a little shorter than the Posey. However the AV2 knob is the whole reason to buy this bat. My son used his Posey and dealt with the hand sting all last season. After this tournament with the Cat 7 I asked if he had any desire to use his Posey again and he said no. He stated the Cat 7 didn't sting his hands once. As for the negative comments about barrel length, the Posey isn't exactly the longest barrel either. If your looking for a longer barrel get the HEX connect. If you're looking for a solid bat for a confident hitter this is a great bat to consider.

Great pop!!!! Tortuga baseball coach

Pros: My son was using a combat 27 -10 and we switch him to Cat 7 and you could tell the immediate difference. The balls fly off this bat and has become a team favorite. So much so that a couple of kids have gone out an purchased these bats for their own.

Glad they finally made this bat acoachintx coach

Pros: AV2 knob Sweet Spot I'm not going to get on here and say this bat made my kid hit big home runs or triples galore. In an honest review, this bat has improved my kids confidence. The sting from his previous Mako and even the 516 are gone. We have probably hit about 800 baseballs with this in practices and he has used in 6 games so far. At no point does he tell me his hands are stinging from hard contact with the ball. This improved confidence has helped him overall improve his avg and slg percentages. He was so worried about the sting from the Mako Beast that he stopped using it. Not with the Cat 7 so far. Marucci has put out some great bats for older and younger leagues but glad this came out now to hit the 9-12u range of kids that just could not swing a -8 or -5 yet or needed a longer bat than a 27. We have the 29/19.

Cons: I dislike white bats-really the only problem so far is being white and showing every stain.

Slight dissapointment Kwantstoknow parent

Pros: It does perform well. My son swings it like it's weightless. He has very quick hands.

Cons: I specifically asked Just Bats was the sweet spot as big as the sweet spot on the Cat 6 and Cat 7 from coach pitch. You can see my question right here online. They said it was comparable/the same. Oh no it is definitely smaller. The bat is too skinny just like the F5. Also the price dropped from $225 to $199 like 2 days after I bought it. But my son still hits deep w this bat. Looking to get a Hex Connect now. A bat w a real sweet spot.

Finally Coach Jim coach

Pros: 11U son always prefers 1 piece, but with that comes some sting on occassion. when Cat 7 with the anti-vibration knob came out, we tried it out. Bat diesn't make the players better hitters, practicing good mechanics and confidence does. in my opinion, this bat allows for both.

Cons: Nothing yet. cannot comment on durability yet, but that's why these bats have warranties.

This is the bat! Matt parent

Pros: My son is on the small side. I have tried several bats: the Voodoo, CF Zen, 618 SOLO. I found with him Aluminum bats worked better, but he didn't like the vibration. The only bat that closely compared to this bat was the 618 SOLO, and even though the 618 doesn't vibrate as much, it doesn't have ad much pop as the CAT 7

Cons: Smaller kids like my son will love this bat, but stronger hitters will want to go with the -8. Vibration is a little harsher than the 618 Solo, however it is not bad at all.

Third Cat 7 Scott Grissom parent

Pros: This is the third Cat 7 purchased in my house. The first two were -8 and -5 models for my middle child. Never had an issue with either one of those, just ages have different drops that they use. This 30/-10 was purchased for my youngest child. He has had several composite bats and we wanted to go back to a one piece aluminum and the Cat 7 was the only one we really wanted to go with because of the success we've had with this bat in prior use.

Top of the line Bat Parent and Coach coach

Pros: The Cat 7 has more (PoP) ball speed than the more expensive composite bats and is much better balanced. Younger batters can swing this bat much faster and with better mechanics than a end loaded composite. The bat is ready to go out of the wrapper and just as good in cold weather as it is in warm weather. Try to find a composite that can do that. I promise your Kid will enjoy this Bat and the vibration dampener really works. We had the Cat 6 and was very satisfied and even more satisfied with Cat 7.

8-9 year old moving into kid pitch D. Worrell Parent

Pros: Same Pop when getting the ball barreled up. Same sound and feel as the Junior league bats that he really loved. He likes this batter better than his 2018 Rawlings Velo, but I think this is just because almost everyone on his team swings a version of the CAT bat. Only complaints of vibration are when he caps a pitch and even then it is not bad.

Cons: Not as forgiving as the Junior league version. Barrel taper begins sooner on the Senior league bat and that has taken him some getting use to.

Awesome bat 30/20 (drop 10) Jeff K Coach

Pros: Much less vibration. Large sweet spot as you would expect. Great pop, sounds like aluminum which may not be preferred but my kid loves the bat

Cons: Maybe not as much pop as the Mako but considering this is an old model and is 2 3/4 inch, this is probably the best value for under $180. The Cat8 has a different casing and the "ping" is not as loud but I don't know that I would recommend spending the extra $150-200 for it.

Pros: My 9 year old son loved the bat. The ball was jumping off the bat which led to one hoppers to the fence in a Little League baseball field. In addition there was almost no vibration .

Cons: Unfortunately after using for the third time the end cap busted. Obviously my son was really disappointed given how much fun he was having swinging the bat.

Pros: Bat was delivered 1 day before a big tournament. Big pop right out of the wrapper. Best tournament of my son’s career - which I know is not just because of the bat - but the extra base hits and home runs were plentiful. He loves it.

Pros: No vibration.

Cons: Not the pop we expected. Seems to have a variable sweet spot. Disappointed. The rating on durability is NA as we just purchased. Wasn't worth the $$ even at the discounted price. If something changes and it was just a bad day, I will post another review to reflect any additional pros.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

For the 27", any difference in the Junior Big Barrel vs this new model? Unhitchthewagon
The inside of the barrel of this 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBC7X10) will be designed to withstand the velocities thrown by a kid pitch player (45+ mph). The 27" Junior Big Barrel CAT 7 is only meant for use with coach pitch or machine pitch baseball where the pitch velocity is below 45 mph. The 27" version of this 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBC7X10) should be able to be used with pitch velocities that are above 45 mph.
Ben
Is the length of the barrel and sweet spot as big as the 2017 Cat 7 Junior Big Barrel? I have noticed the 2018 bats such as the F5 are being made with significantly smaller barrels. My hitters need that big sweet spot. Kwantstoknow
The barrel and sweet spot should be very similar between the 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBC7X10) and the 2017 Marucci CAT 7 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (MJBBC7). In terms of durability, if your player is playing kid pitch, you will want to use this Senior League CAT 7 instead of the Junior Big Barrel CAT 7.
Taylor
Could you please explain the differences between this bat and Marucci's Posey Pro Metal? Mirage
The only difference between the 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 and the Marucci Posey28 Pro Metal -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBP28X10 is the maple wood grain cosmetics featured on the Posey metal model.
Logan
What is the difference between the Marucci CAT 7 -10 vs the Marucci MSBHA2X10? My son is playing 9U. Also, what weight of bat do you recommend? He is about 72 pounds. Last season he played with the green Hex Alloy 29/19. ryano
The 2018 Marucci Hex Alloy 2 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBHA2X10 features a newer alloy that allows for thinner barrel walls resulting in better performance. The 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 features the AV2 knob for less vibration and negative feedback than a traditional one piece alloy bat would allow. At his age and size, I would suggest sticking with the 29/19 size.
Logan
My son plays travel 11u and currently using a MAKO 30/20. I'm interested in the CAT 7 however he plays with a 2 5/8 barrel. Looks like Marucci only makes the CAT 7 in 30/20 2 3/4. Thoughts on the size difference? Does it really matter to stick with the 5/8 or ok in your opinion to switch up the the 3/4? DG
The 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 is a limited release Marucci has done for the -10 length to weight ratio and unfortunately it will only be available in 2 3/4" barrels. For an 11U player there is nothing wrong with using a 2 3/4" barrel. This barrel size typically allows for better performance but does sometimes show lower durability.
Cameron
If my 8 year old son currently has the 2017 CAT 7 that is 27"/17 oz with a 2 3/4 barrel would this be the equivalent in moving him up one inch in length? amy_77
The 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 is the most equivalent model to what your player has been using most recently. The main difference is this bat is designed for kid pitch leagues with higher velocity.
Cameron
What are the differences if any between this bat, the Posey metal bat and the 2016 green Hex alloy? ag
The cosmetics will be the biggest difference in all three models. All three bats will feature one-piece alloy designs with balanced swing weights. The AZ4X alloy offers increased strength with a higher response rate in all three models.
Dan
Does this bat have the AV2 knob? Rick
This 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBC7X10) does feature the AV2 knob that delivers a smooth feel on the bat with less negative feedback on miss-hits.
Ben
I understand this bat is made for kid pitch. Would there be any worry about using this bat for coach pitch also? Patriots
The 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 could be used in coach and kid pitch leagues with no worries.
Cameron
What's the difference in this bat and the F5 besides price? eagle ball
The Marucci Cat 7 has better barrel optimization for a large sweet spot as well as an anti-vibration handle design that the F5 will not.
Kyle J.
What is main difference in this bat and the hex alloy 2? Which one is better? Charles
The 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 and the 2018 Marucci Hex Alloy 2 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBHA2X10 differ in two distinct ways. The first is that the Cat 7 has an AV2 knob to reduce negative feedback on contact. The second is that the Hex Alloy 2 utilizes AZ105 alloy to thin the walls for better performance without sacrificing durability, while the Cat 7 uses AZ4X alloy to increase both strength and response rate. I would not say one is better than the other, rather it comes down to what you/your player's priorities are with in a bat.
Tyler
Does this bat or the Hex Alloy 2 have a longer barrel length? Charles
The portion of barrel on this 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBC7X10) that measures out to the full 2 3/4" diameter will be slightly shorter in length on this bat when compared to the portion of barrel that measures out to the full 2 3/4" diameter on the Hex Alloy 2.
Ben
How do you think this bat compares to the Louisville slugger Solo 618? Which would you recommend? Jake
Both the 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 and the Solo 618 will offer you the same one-piece alloy construction. The Cat 7 is going to offer you an AZ4X alloy barrel to provide an extremely high response rate. Furthermore, the newly optimized barrel design has created a sweet spot twice the size of the Cat 6. I think the Cat 7 is a terrific bat and would certainly recommend it.
Tyler
Does the Buster Posey model have the AV2 knob? husker
The 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 does feature the AV2 knob but the Marucci Posey28 Pro Metal -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBP28X10 does not.
Cameron
Which bat would you recommend for a kid looking to hit for more power? The Cat 7 -10 or the Hex Alloy 2 -10? Or will they both provide the same amount of "pop"? ph1021
They both should provide very comparable amount of pop and performance.
Kyle J.
My 8 year old is 4'10" and 85lbs. What length bat would you recommend? Colt
I would recommend a 30 inch bat for your player. That would mean 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 in a 30" length will weigh 20 ounces. In my opinion, this option might be slightly too heavy for your 8 year old player. If that is the case, I would consider going down one inch and one ounce to a 29/19.
Dan
I am looking at this bat for my 10 year old son. The last two reviews about the barrel size have concerned me. How does this bat compare to a Louisville Slugger Omaha 516 with a 2 3/4" barrel (drop 10)? wooolbully
In terms of barrel length and size, the 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBC7X10) and 2016 Louisville Slugger Omaha 516 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLO516X) are going to be very similar.
Taylor
How does the 2018 CAT 7 -10 (30"/20 oz) swing compared to the 2017 CAT 7 -8 (28"/20 oz)? fungwil
Both the 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBC7X10) and the 2017 Marucci CAT 7 Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBYC78) will have a balanced swing weight. The main difference between these bats will be the drop weight and that the 2018 CAT 7 -10 will have a 2 3/4" barrel diameter and the 2017 CAT 7 -8 will have a 2 5/8" barrel diameter.
Taylor
I'm trying to decide between the Hex Alloy 2 and this bat. My son is a contact hitter looking for a balanced swing. He's coming from a Rawlings 5150. Which bat would you recommend? cameront
There are two main differences between the 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 and the 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10. The first is the material used in the barrel. The Cat 7 will utilize AZ4X alloy that will offer increased strength and a higher response rate, while the Hex 2 has AZ105 alloy to allow for thinner barrel walls without any durability sacrifice. The other notable difference is that the Cat 7 will come with an anti-vibration knob to cut down on negative feedback on contact, unlike the Hex 2. Because of these features, I would personally recommend the Cat 7.
Tyler
What is true weight on this bat? Angela
The actual weight on the 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 is about 1.2 ounces heavier than the listed weight.
Tori
Is this bat weight balanced or end loaded? Ben
The 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 is a balanced bat.
Tyler
What length/drop should I get for my son who plays 10u travel ball? He is about to turn 10 and is 4'10 and weighs 60lbs. He is swinging a Marucci Cat 7 27/-10 now. Troy
Given your player's specifications, I would recommend either the 29" or 30" option of this 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10. Furthermore, given your player's age, I would not look to move to a -8 option until they are a little bit older and have had a chance to strengthen their swing.
Tyler
Can you hit with a senior league bat in USSSA league? Baseballlover
You can think of "Senior League" synonymous with USSSA kid pitch bat. Therefore you can use this 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 in any USSSA sanctioned league.
Tyler
My son currently is a 5 foot, 120 lbs., ten year old in 10u. He has swung a 31" 20 oz 2016 Easton MAKO for the last two years. I am seriously considering getting him the CAT 7. Should I get the 31 inch 21 oz or the 30 inch 20 oz? Another kid on our team has the Posey28 Metal in the 30 inch 20 oz. Charlie
Looking at your son's height and weight, would recommend getting the 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 in a 30 inch model. If you feel he can handle the heavier size of 31/21 then there is certainly nothing wrong with getting that size of bat. With the CAT 7 being a well balanced bat a size bigger may not affect his swing.
Cameron
I understand that the senior league bat is designed for kid pitch. What I don't understand is how the performance differs from the junior bat in coach pitch situations. My son is in coach pitch now. Why would I want to choose the junior bat model? Jon
The main advantage of a Junior Big Barrel bat is that they are available in smaller sizes than Senior League models, and the barrel walls are slightly thinner so they give slightly more pop in coach pitch. Some players in coach pitch/machine pitch need a bat in the 25"-27" range, and those are very hard to find in a Senior League model. If your player is large enough/strong enough to use a slightly larger model that is a Senior League bat, I would probably recommend that as it would be a bit more durable overall and would offset the small performance difference.
Kyle J.
I"m looking to move up my son to a CAT 7 28/18 -10 from a CAT 7 27/17. But I"m undecided because somewhere I read the Marucci Hex 2 28/18 has a longer barrel or sweet spot. Is this correct? We are use to the CAT 7 junior big barrel and wouldn"t want to get the CAT 7 28/18 over the Hex 2 if the sweet spot is bigger. Can you confirm this? Local stores don"t carry them so I can"t go out to compare. Dad
Unfortunately we are not aware of the sweet spot size with regards to the 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 in comparison to the 2018 Marucci Hex Alloy 2 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBHA2X10. Both bats have checked out well based off of consumer reviews so in our opinion either option would work well for your player.
Cameron
Is there any difference in performance or pop with this bat because it's a drop 10 as opposed to the drop 8 CAT 7? Also is there a better alloy bat out there in your opinion and what is the best composite bat? Trying to buy a new bat for my son. jake
Assuming the player can handle the 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 and the CAT 7 -8 model the same, meaning the bat speed does not change, then a player would experience better results with the -8 model as this bat has more mass to throw into the ball. As for alloy bats in either size, -10 or -8, the Marucci CAT 7 models will check out as some of the best options to consider but it is hard to say if they are the best or what may be better as this is very subjective and could really only be determined by those players that have used the various options.
Cameron
Is there a significant difference in performance and durability from Marucci's CAT 7 27"/17 oz (-10) MJBBC7 versus 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat MSBC7X10? And lastly, which bat would you recommend? DO2
The Junior Big Barrel model is designed for coach pitch and machine pitch, while the Senior League model is designed for kid pitch. A Junior Big Barrel model will not hold up in a kid pitch league too long, as it has thinner barrel walls designed to offer good performance, but at slower pitch speeds. If you play kid pitch, go with the Senior League model, but if you play coach/machine pitch, then the Junior Big Barrel model would work for you.
Kyle J.
Is the balance on the 2018 CAT 7 better than the POSEY28 metal? What are the main differences for these two bats? Which one would you recommend? DO2
These two bats are essentially the same model just with different cosmetics. The only main difference is the Posey model will not come with the AV2 Knob technology that is in the Cat 7 that helps prevent vibration.
Kyle J.
Does this bat require some breaking in? Griff
Since the 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 is constructed of alloy material, it does not require any break in.
Logan
My son is 7 years old, 4'2" an 56lbs. What size Cat 7 Senior would you recommend? Timmy
Based on your son's height and weight, I would recommend getting the 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 in a 28''.
Tori
Is this bat hot out of the box? Kenny
Yes, this 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBC7X10) features an alloy design to it that will be hot out of the wrapper!
Ben
Is this bat hot out of the box? Kenny
The 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 will be hot out of the box since it is an alloy bat with no break in required.
Logan
My son is 8 and plays travel ball. I bought the drop 8 version of the senior league model in a 2 5/8" barrel because some of the leagues will not let the kids use the 2 3/4" barrel, and the -10 is only a 2 3/4" barrel. He can swing the drop 8 but is a bit heavy for him and his teammates but if they square it up it's a nice hit. Any chance Marucci will make a drop 10 version in the 2 5/8 barrel size? whathappenedtothegame?
We have not heard of any plans for Marucci to make a 2 5/8" barrel diameter model for their -10 bat at this time.
Kyle J.
Do they make this bat in a 31" version? Big Al
This bat was made in a 31" model, however we are out of stock in that size at the moment and do not have an estimated date on receiving more from Marucci.
Kyle J.
My boy is 8 yr old, weighs 110 lbs, 4 ft 7 in tall and he can swing like a lumberjack. Which Marucci bat would be good for him? Brandon
Per your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 in a 30 inch model.
Cameron
Son is 7, 4'6" and weighs 80 pounds, plays coach pitch AAA. He has a CAT 7 black edition 27/17 now. The bat coach says a 29 inch, is that too big of a jump for him? Chad Bartley
Whether or not to get the 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 in a 29 inch model, based on his current height and weight, would be more about how well he is handling the current 27/17 bat that he is using. Moving up in size would only be recommended if you feel like his current bat is too short or too light.
Cameron
Is there really a big difference between the 27"/17 oz bat and the 28"/18 oz. I know it's a different weight and length but can you really tell? jp
That would depend on the player. Some players may notice the difference, some may not at all. Generally the amount they notice or the amount it affects them depends on how strong the player in question is.
Kyle J.
What is the difference between the CAT 7 (-10) and the new CAT 8 (-10)? Baseball dad
The biggest upgrades that will show up on the CAT 8 (when compared to this 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10) are the new multi-variable wall design that creates an expanded sweet spot and thinner barrel walls that are more forgiving after off-centered contact and the 2nd generation anti-vibration knob that further limits the discomfort in the hands from a miss-hit.
Ben
What is the return policy on this bat? Kelli
We are more than happy to accept back the 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 for either an exchange or refund as long as the bat is unused.
Cameron
My son is 8 years old weighs 86 pounds and is 4'7". What length and weight bat would you recommend? sj
I would recommend a 29'' 19oz in the 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10
Max
7 1/2 year old about to start 8U travel. 4'3 and weighs 61lb. What size bat would you suggest? How does this compare to the Rawlings VELO? Is the Cat 7 considered more balanced or end loaded? Which of the two would you recommend? sd
The Rawlings VELO and the 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 will be very similar bat because of both are going to be one piece alloy construction as well as being both very balanced bats. As far as sizing goes I would recommend a 28'' 18oz in the 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10.
Max
Would you recommend the Cat 7 or the Hex Connect for the same price? I know one is alloy and one is composite. But, which one is considered the better bat? sd
It would be hard to say one is better than the other with performance between the two being very similar, but one may be better based on the attributes you're looking for. The 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 has been the more popular bat, and will be hot out of the wrapper with its alloy construction. The 2017 Marucci Hex Connect Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBHCX10 will be a little lighter to swing and will have a little longer barrel, but will need to be broken in before you see peak performance.
Logan
My son just turned 11. He is around 4'10" and 100 lbs. What size CAT 7 drop 10 do you suggest? jmc
Per your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 in a 30 inch model.
Cameron
I am looking at purchasing the Cat 7 for my 9 year old who plays travel baseball. He takes a lot of swings. This might be a silly question, but is there a typical swing amount that a bat will be good for before it needs replaced? Maybe its 10,000 swings or something? Not sure if the manufacturers place a swing 'life' estimate on these bats or not. JZ
Unfortunately, all bats will not have an exact life span and would be more depending on the exact model. The 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 will be one of the more durable bats on the market and will have a long longevity.
Max
My son is playing travel ball and there are no bat regulations. Which bat will have more distance, the Cat 7 BBCOR or the non BBCOR bat? Chad
Any USSSA bat will have a higher level of performance when compared to a BBCOR because of the certifications in place. Therefore, this 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 would be allowed to perform better than the Cat 7 BBCOR model.
Tyler
Is this bat approved for Dixie Youth? I see that it has the USSSA stamp, but nothing about the other. Britany Thompson
Dixie Youth Baseball requires bats to be approved and stamped with the new USA Baseball marking. Since the 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 is only USSSA certified, it is not legal for play in Dixie Youth Baseball.
Logan
I’m looking a new bat for my 10 years old who is turning 11 soon. He is 4'9" tall and 93 lbs. He is using a Combat Maxum 28"/18 oz. I’m trying to decide between this Marucci Cat 7 or the Hex Alloy. Looking for more pop and good balance for his swing. Which one is more recommended please? Really appreciated your recommendation. Thanks. Tania
Both models will be a good, solid bat for him. However the Marucci Cat 7 has probably been a bit better seller for us and has great recommendations, so I would lean towards that model.
Kyle
How does this compare to the Hex Alloy 2? My 9 year old uses a USA Solo 618 29"/18 oz in Little League and he ropes line drives and pops fly balls just past 180 ft. He swings it with confidence, after hitting mostly grounders from his Rawlings, and we're now looking for a USSSA bat for travel ball. Narrowed it down to this or the Hex 2 so please advise. Other suggestions? Prefer 2 3/4" barrel with anti-vibration. Ruben
The Marucci Hex 2 and the Marucci Cat 7 are both very solid performing alloy bats. According to our customer reviews, I would say the Cat 7 has been slightly better received and has sold a bit better, as it is one of our highest rated models. Another option could be the newest model from Marucci, their Cat 8, which features their latest alloy technology.
Kyle
Does it need to be “broken in” like others? Ron
The Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 features an alloy barrel and thus does not require a break-in period.
